I joined the group back in October, and I'm a fan! I've been living in the Dallas area for five months now as an Au Pair, and have a good group of Au Pair friends, but I realized I needed other variety in my life. After using other online sites to try and meet people, I just wasn't getting the results I was looking for. Joining E&A has been really great at providing me the opportunities to meet such a variety of people, and I have no regrets joining! It is on the pricier side, but they have such a wide range of available activities every single day of the month, that I really believe it's worth the money for the most part. There's really something for everyone. I've participated in a board games night, a day at one of the other members' farm (where we got to help with the animals and chores as well as play with them, followed by an awesome campfire!), bowling, etc. Not only is E&A great for making new friendships, but it's also great for just making connections in general! When I signed up for the service they had me take an interview. I'm 25 and I've never used a service like this one. In the interview, I asked whether or not there would be people around my age. They assured me that there would be plenty of people my age and it wouldn't be a problem. That was completely false. Most events I went to had a lot of older people, which isn't a problem, but it was hard for me to connect with them. They also said that most events would be free. They were not. Even if it was free in regards to Events & Adventure, it was not free upon arrival. When I tried to cancel the service after expressing my disappointment, they refused to let me cancel it. So I canceled it through my bank instead. Then I started receiving notices that they would send my account to collections unless I pay an exorbitant amount for the service that I cancelled and didn't use. I am currently trying to lower the settlement amount but they are refusing even though I have made them fully aware that I cannot afford the settlement amount. First off, I didn't sign up for E&A so I can't speak to what its like once you're in. My issue is with the sales experience. You are told that you are interviewing for a "private club" by "invite only." They ask you a lot of questions about yourself and its a little like a first date. I don't think it's an accident that they paired me with an attractive woman who claimed she was also a member of the club for about a year. They keep asking leading questions like "what do you think you would get out of this" and "what are you looking for with E&E?" They ask what problems you have had with other dating avenues like apps. At the end its a high pressure sales pitch. They want you to sign up at that moment. They can only give you a discount if you sign up right then, putting pressure on you to not analyze the decision to drop $2400 on something you may or may not use. It penalizes people who want to think about a major purchase before they pull the trigger. You cannot try even one event before purchasing. You cannot cancel and get a partial refund back. Once you sign up, you are committed to the full $2400 whether you get something out of it or not, whether the events are available for you or not, whether the people are in your age range or vibe or not. If you have to lock people into spending that much cash (which for most people is significant investment) whether they are happy with your service or not, then your business model is flawed and dishonest. This whole experience is like getting a sales pitch to buy a timeshare, except you can't even see what you're buying before you spend the money. No thanks. read more

I called begging and pleading to get out of it. They refused. The people at the event weren't quality. They tricked me by saying "we prescreen our members". Yes, they do. But, it's not for quality. They just check to see if they have a criminal record. If they don't they let them join. Don't fall for the fake 5-Star reviews on here either. THIS IS A SCAM. Don't make the same mistake that I did. This organization takes advantage of lonely, busy people. Their interview process is nice at first, but then they rush you into signing a contract. What they don't tell you is that you can only cancel and receive a full refund within 24 hours of signing the contract. You know how with most services like this (dance classes, gym memberships, etc.) you can try it out for a little before committing? Well, at Events and Adventures, once you attend one event within 24 hours, you are trapped. They give you three days (without having attended an event) to cancel with a $400 charge. I knew I was done after the first event, but it took a while for me to find all this information. Then it took TEN DAYS for the right people to get in contact with me. I think they intentionally do this to wait out their cancellation period. ALSO: the members are all older and more awkward than they would have you believe. I don't understand how some people made it past the interview. Now I'm stuck paying $147 a month for a YEAR for a membership I was rushed into and do not want to use. I joined Events & Adventures mid-July this year and was skeptical at first because of the negative reviews. Also, none of my friends had experience with E&A. However, after my "interview" and looking at the calendar I was excited to join and glad that I did! I have made a lot of new wonderful friends and done things I would never do on my own. Some of my favorite activities have been ifly (indoor skydiving), the Immersive Game Box (we did Squid Games), the Game Show (we were on a team and played Wheel of Fortune and the Price is Right), the dinners, playing ping-pong, pool and Pickleball. They have activities every day of the week and sometimes 2 on the weekends. You can do as much or as little as you want. So there is always something fun to do. You just show up! Also enjoyed the Glamping trip held over Labor Day where we stayed in air-conditioned cabins and got to do some hiking and kayaking Looking forward to ringing in the New Year with my new E&A friends at this year's Masquerade Ball and also looking forward to going on one of the international trips I've heard good things about. I joined as a Lifetime member and don't regret it and look forward to many more Events & Adventures! 10/10 DOES NOT recommend. Disclaimer, I declined my invitation to become a member for a number of reasons. My expectations going into this process was that E & A was an exciting group that jointly plans events around the area to meet new people. 1) The Interview. The interview started out fairly well, just small talk, what we're looking to get out of the club, etc. BUT then it took an odd turn, the questions become very personal. The "director" asked about past relationships, my finances, credit lines, savings. 2) Trying to get you to make an impulse buy. The interviewer really pushed me to sign up right then and there... put a good amount of money down, plus monthly payments- even told me to put it on the credit card. I politely explained that I can't make this kind of impulse decision, and asked if I can take something home to look over, packages, rates, etc. Their answer was simply no, they don't want "non-members" knowing their prices. So I left. 3) The follow up call. This is where things went south. While at work, their director called ( the guy who interviewed me, Anthony). I explained I was at work, but not interesting in the club for financial reasons, and I explained how I felt about some of his interview questions. He instantly went off making me I was missing out, and that I was only hurting myself since I was new to town and wanted to get out more. Again, I told him I was at work and couldn't have this conversation, but he kept going and going..... eventually I had to hang up. Horrible first impression. I signed up for this a few years ago. The advertising is misleading. There's a membership fee, plus additional cost. I was told one third of events were free, one third pay what you consume, one third additional cost. The "free" events don't really exist. Beyond that, the members that you stick around are generally nice people, but super awkward. If you identify as a nerd and have always done so, this might be a good place for you. This doesn't even deserve one star but this is as low as it'll go. This is the biggest SCAM I've ever seen. I wish I would've came to yelp and looked them up before ever signing up. There is a reason there are way more bad reviews or "not recommended reviews" than good ones. The first issue with this "club" is that they won't let you cancel. I had some struggles happen to where i couldn't afford this anymore and all they care about is getting their money. Im barley making it by as it is now and this company won't let me cancel. When you sign up with events and adventures, the only mention of the cancellation process is that if you want your down payment back it has to be done within the first couple of days. Never in the entire interview process do they tell you you aren't allowed to cancel. So imagine my surprise and panic when I tried to cancel my membership And was told I could only freeze it or pay for the majority of it upfront. If I can't afford it now what makes you think I can pay for the majority of it up front or later on after the payments have increased due to it being frozen? When my best friend and I signed up we were told we'd save money each month because their events were free. The 3 people before you weren't offered an invitation to join." I felt like I was being sold a used car during my interview. They throw out all these different prices that were not transparent at all. Had they been up front about the financial commitment you have to make, I would have actually considered it before and not wasted the "interviewers" (aka salespersons) and my time. I'm sorry, I'm not giving you $800 for an initiation fee without seeing terms and conditions first. It would be different if they offered a 30 day trial, with a 50% refund at least. They don't. Your are forced into making a commitment the day of your interview, misled into believing the majority of events are free, and convinced that the average age is 45-50. I have only been a member for 6 weeks and just learned that I will be placed on an assignment in a city that does not have a club for the next 2 years. I have tried to get my money refunded or even partially refunded and since I am past the 30 days, they will not make any exceptions. Like other people stated on other platforms they are very unclear about their policies and they don't disclose verbally any information about the binding contract you're about to sign. Besides being ridiculously OVERPRICED (like literally you get to pay the same amount of money and maybe even less if you're not a member), you can still "cancel" the membership but YOU MUST KEEP PAYING FOR THE MEMBERSHIP as for contract, which means you keep paying for a service that you don't use anymore. What's worse is that they give you only 24 h to cancel your contract unless you attend your first event then you're BOUND/TRAPPED, which is sick because how on earth I'm going to decide if I like it or not? They are well aware that they are cheating and they have horrible testimonials, so that's why they stick to strict binding rules so people can't go back but keep paying no matter what. I had to relocate to my country in Europe for a family obligation and this is the response they gave me... Are you even serious? Is this a bad joke? I have really enjoyed my time in E & A. I recently went on a trip to England and Scotland and made some great friends from around the country. I understand the cost can be a bit prohibitive, but it really is a case of you get what you pay for. So many free or cheap activities (pool parties at members houses for example) and they really do try to screen a bit (not gonna be 100%, but much better than match.com) All in all I have gotten great value for my dollar, and would recommend this to my single friends struggling to break the Dallas social scene enigma! read more

I've enjoyed several events over the past 7 months. The events are generally well planned. My issues are: not that many younger members. I'm in my 20s, and not many members are. There also aren't that many truly single guys, as dating is still 'single', so definitely no dating potentials so far. Also, after paying the high membership fee, most events have additional fees. They made it sound like more events would be free, but not really. And a lot of the events are heavily catered to people who drink alcohol. So they are a bit awkward for me as a non-drinker. It has gotten me out and about more, which I wanted. And the members and employees are generally pretty nice. But it definitely advertises a different experience than you actually get. read more

She "forgot" to mention that a contract was required to join. I never once attended any event due to the fact that I found out I was pregnant from a long distance relationship. I joined in Oct 2018 and I havent been impressed for the price of membership, you still have to pay for some events & I am not able to pay for the bigher travel trips. The people individually are fine, some great, but in the group they are extremely petty & clickish (like high school) here in the Dallas area. The Houston group, the ones that I have met, are AWESOME!!! They have events every night of the week, sometimes two, and for the most part are pretty good; well thought out/planned. However, as a recovering alcoholic a majority of the events revolve and/or include copious amounts of alcohol, again I am not impressed; its what the members want. E&A representatives are liars and this group is a total waste of money! I wanted to join this group to meet people my age (21) and they told me there was a huge group of young adults in this. Well the first event I went to everyone was 40+; I thought maybe it was just that certain event but the second was not much different. The closest person to my age was 7 years older than me! So much for meeting people my age. Then about a month and half ago I got with some medical issues and bills I was not prepared for and asked to cancel. COST:: Waste of money (a LOT of money) - it is over $2000 for one year alone. Plus, the events still cost money on top of that. No reduced prices! Sometimes things cost more because this company is greedy. MEMBERS:: the members are hit and miss. The staff tells you that they do background checks on members, but that is false. It has had members with criminal backgrounds. Also, unless you do something against the law, they rarely kick members out. EVENTS:: You can count on 99% of the events having alcohol. There are a lot of repeat events, too, such as: dinner at a restaurant or bar; volleyball every week in the summer at the same location, dancing/drinking at local venues, etc. The good events are repeated, but sometimes it gets boring because they go to the same type of bars over and over. I tried to join this club a way back after my marriage ended, thought it would be good, a place that sets up meetings with other singles, how easy is that? Well the rollercoaster ride has started so buckle your seatbelt. I set up an interview via the phone and the very nice person I spoke with answered my questions and assured me when I set a physical interview date I would be speaking with her directly and all would be well. So I get to their facility in Dallas Texas and walk in, the receptionist was very nice and after offering me H2O and such handed me a clip board with paperwork to fill out. As I went through the standard information gathering form there were two questions that caught my attention, one asking for my drivers license number and the other my SS number. I was told by said phone interviewer there was no obligation what so ever and that the physical interview would be a question and answer session and I would be able to go and think about joining or not. Once I finished the paperwork and handed it back I was made to wait almost 45 minutes before someone (not the person I spoke to on the phone) came and took me to an interview room with a small table and three chairs, a little TV and a medium player for videos. I was made to watch a video showing all the fun stuff the organization does with their suckers (oh sorry I mean clients), after it was done the young woman with whom I was paired came back and asked if I liked what I saw and was ready to join. while I was explaining to her what I was told by the phone person and that this meeting was only a Q/A session, she informed me that that was not so and I had to make a decision right then and there and I could not leave and come back either, it was now or never. While I was talking to her someone must have come up behind me, because the interviewer looked up all of a sudden, then nodded and her whole demeanor changed, up till that point she was pleasant, now she was hostile, combative, insulting, and derogatory towards me. Now she's making the full court press, either I sign or I have to leave, I tell her I would like to think about it and that I was told while on the phone with the first interviewer I could take my time on my decision and I had some more questions (which she told me earlier on I could ask as much as I liked). I then asked what's up since her demeaner changed, she told me that I could not ask any more questions unless I join and sign a contract. She proceeded to stand up and escort me rather quickly out a side door (not the one I came in in the front initially). As she is ushering me out this side door rather quickly, she is neither polite or helpful, I'm trying to ask questions and she is having none of it. When we get to the door she tells me I can come back if I'm serious about joining and ask question then. I was literally thrown out of events and adventures Dallas office for some reason (never explained), talk about unprofessional; and to top it all off the interviewer closes the door in my face as I'm trying to find out why I've been escorted out. I never received any answer, and from what I've read of other reviews I'm fortunate that I didn't get caught up in their scam. And folks events and adventures by my recollection is a MAJOR SCAM!!! No worries, Karma is every where. As for those individuals who have written positive write ups, I'd like to know exactly where this fantasy they wrote about happened and if there are others who would agree also. It was advertised that the cost would be $150 and you would need to attend an interview. Just FYI...the interview is an hour and a half of them making you feel bad about yourself so that you will sign up, and the cost is $2400 per year. They also try to get you to sign up for 2-3 years and pay even more money. If they entire point is to meet someone...why would you want to sign up for 3 years? They will also tell you that you must sign up before you leave (like they're going to push your money away after you leave) and act like they have people just waiting at the door to sign up with them.
