We booked this before we headed there. I could tell they weren't getting booked up during the week so didn't worry about it until day of and had no problem. Got the releases so as soon as we entered we were ready to go. Employee was pleasant. She had another group before us so she set them up first but was clear in communication. We got set up in our gear while we waited. We decided we wanted something relaxing so went for the dinosaur adventure. Just didn't feel like getting all worked up fighting. It was really terrific. I love how immersive these experiences are recommend trying at least once. At one point my screen glitched but she was going by right when it happened so she reset it and we were back up very quickly. Pretty fun VR experience. We did the deadwood mansion with 5 people. The staff were super friendly and explained everything to us. The VR glasses itself isn't like 4k hyper realistic but it gets kind of scary with all the vibrations you feel from the gear. You feel the weapons vibrate as well. Good experience to try! read more

What a time! We had a party of six, 4 adults and 2- 13 year olds for the Stranger Things Catalyst adventure. The staff walks along with you to put on all equipment and listen in to ensure there are no difficulties. The game itself was complex enough for the gamers of the group and simple enough for the less intense players. 30 minutes goes fast, but well worth the money for a top notch family experience. read more

Handed us an iPad and said fill out our info. When I tried to use my card it said something about a one time passcode not being able to be sent. Not sure what that meant and the guy was of no help. Tried booking online thru my phone and it said the same thing. We used a different card and it attempted to process but didn't complete thru their site. We would have loved to do the VR but the guys lack of customer service was enough to make us leave. His only response was do you have a different card and he was very put out by even having to do his job. Third time on Sandbox but first time on this location. We couldn't book ahead for squid game but it was a family event/visit we made in Dallas. We waited till 8:40pm on a weekend. We were there 6:15pm. We had dinner and went back to the location ahead of time. There were 4 of us BUT they booked two more kids we were not aware of until we were assembling. Urned out the two added kids---one has a bday thing in the end of the video which again we were not aware of. We were rushed and uninformed what we were getting. ** The epitome of a good idea but poor execution. Long wait times, unprofessional staff, and buggy tech will keep me from returning. I came here with a party of 6 for a friends birthday, and it was disappointing to say the least. To start off, its around $60 a person, which is definitely not cheap, but the experience you get out of it is well below that price point. The biggest annoyance I had was the inefficiency. When coming in, we were waiting around the front area for almost an hour, with staff half heartedly checking in from time to time, but all looking like they didn't want to be there. Even though we booked for a specific time and arrived on time, in total we spent around 90 minutes there but only ended up playing for 30 min. A lot of the tech was also super buggy. My VR headset was extremely blurry even after adjusting it, and the workers didn't offer much help at all. When we did need their help, they gave off an attitude like we were disturbing them. Another friend's sensors weren't working properly but we were ignored as well. I think the games weren't bad - we tried the Squid Games game, but they are definitely not worth $60 per person for 30 min and an extra hour of waiting. The reservation was for my friend Amanda. It's important to note that this visit was free for Amanda and her party because Sandbox dropped the ball the first time Amanda and her husband visited back in August 2023. I'll make this short, our reservation was for 6:15pm they explained they were running late so we didn't get into the actual experience until a little after 7pm. There were minor technical difficulties during the experience. At the end of the experience they walk you out to the TV monitors and you're able to see the outside perspective. However, they claimed to have technical difficulties which prevented us from being able to view the recording. They assured us that we would receive the recording via email. We did not. This was my first time here and have no interest in recommending it to any of my family/friends. read more

Check In The instructions specifically state that someone would greet us and show us what to do when we get there. No one greeted us and was left to fend for ourselves until I grabbed someone to help out. I had a party of 3 and there was another party with 2 people. They arrived late and the staff still allowed them to continue. Causing our session to be delayed. There's a clear warning in the check in email not to be more than 5 minutes late. I think it would've been fair to cancel their reservation so it wouldn't affect ours. The Technology We chose Deadwood Valley. The entire game was extremely buggy and had a significant lag. One person in my party had consistent issues with his sensors and wasn't able to accurately see where everyone was. So he ran into us a few times. Another person in my party paid $7 for the Gatling gun and the gun had several issues not actually shooting through out the game. Which defeats the purpose of paying for it. He got last place in stats. Which is disappointing considering paying $7 should have given you an edge. The game lagged every time there was a lot going on. Post Experience Videos These could have been better. Maybe show videos of people in the gear outside of the VR world instead of showing laggy video of the in-game experience. This was by far one of the funniest interactive experiences I've had with my family... outside of Disney. I was scared at first and didn't know what to expect, and the screams coming from the VR rooms weren't comforting but when everything got started I got amped. What a wonderful experience for the entire family. Once you arrived be prepared to login at the Kiosk and sign waives for all parties. They were running a little behind schedule but we enjoyed listening to the other family scream. After they call your party you are given a small training regarding your equipment and how to use the system. The training is very informative. They will then come around and take your picture and ask you to provide your players name. During the game your avatar will move and react to all of your moments. But the best part is they are recording. After we killed the dead. We were able to complete a winners free style dance. Which was a lot of fun as well. Good concepts but the implementation was buggy: In my group of 4, two of us had audio problems and could not communicate with the other players. Two of us had lagging issues, and the screens sometimes had blackouts. Our game-master Jesse was awesome and reset the whole system when he noticed, though the audio still lagged after resetting, and our communication was not ideal, making it difficult to defend and heal each other. If you do play and encounter issues, immediately yell out the game master's name to pause the game and have the system reset read more

I was super excited to try this for the first time and was heavily disappointed. First off, my group and I got there early and the staff started us 10 minutes later than our reservation. I asked if that would affect our time, they said no, however they were wrong. Not only did we only play for about 30 minutes when our time was an hour. But the technology didn't work half the time. The VR headset was showing a black screen most of the time. Instead of restarting the game, they kept it going. On top of that, we only got to play 6/9 games and were still cut short. This place was a really dope experience that I would recommend to anyone. Two friends and me had an appointment at the Mockingbird Ln location sometime around 8:30p. Two of us arrived late and at first were told that there was nothing that could be done unless we rescheduled for another day. We explained that everyone in the group goes to a university out of state and probably wouldn't remember to return at a later time in the year. A few moments later they came back and told us that a group of three was scheduled to in the next few minutes and "if no one else comes then [we] can join them." Which was a bit confused cause you have to pay for the members in the party in advance but I digress- no one else showed up. It happened to be one of the guys in our group's birthday. So we also got to see the birthday scene they show at the end of the gameplay. Getting geared up was a pretty speedy process and we had no difficulties getting started into the game. We played Deadwood Valley which was zombies in a kinda open world + truck. Super dope! (10/10) There was a red square that we had to stand inside of and red boxes that would pop up if you started to get too close to the wall. The coolest part of course is the trailer video that is sent to your email at the end of your experience. A super funny clip that you can share. read more

I was so excited to try this place out after reading the reviews, but I don't know if it was the time we booked or the employees lacking training but when I say it was a poop show that's an understatement. We arrived 10 minutes early as instructed for our reservation, we did not start until an hour later after reservation, once started the game would not work and at this point the entire group was very frustrated and some needed to be out by a certain time, we gave it about 20-25 minutes and they still could not get it to work so the entire group walked out upset. I have since tried calling twice with no answer to speak with someone about this awful experience and to get a refund since no game was ever played. I would say this place has potential if employees are trained and it's running correctly but honestly I am not sure I will go back with how horrible it was all around. read more

Came here in my birthday and had a great time. Signed up for the 9:15 pm slot so we arrived a few minutes before 9pm to ensure we had enough time to sign the waivers. The waivers took less than 3 min and we sat around and waited to be equipped and instructed. While we waited there were other people doing their game and there was basically just screaming and screaming going on while we waited which got kind of annoying. We finally got assistance and were able to begin our session at 9:30pm. We were told then that they were short staffed. The instructions are straight forward. Nate helped us and he was friendly and explained everything in detail so there was no confusion. The game play was actually really fun and I got a little sweat going towards the end. We also got a video emailed to us of us playing the game at the end and that was a very nice personal touch to the experience. We did Deadwood Mansion. I did sign up for another session for 20% off that was offered to do another game play, I just hope next time we can actually start on time. read more

BEWARE, if you are barely 6 minutes late to your reservation they will waste another 10 mins of your time explaining why you aren't allowed to play anymore because of their rules and policy listed in small print at the bottom of the agreement form. Keep in mind traffic, and all other possible factors that could delay you. They do not refund, only re-schedule. Front staff was very rude and unaccommodating until the GM was able to put us in a game but we had already lost 15 minutes of what would have been game time because of that. I suggest that when booking they have in BIG LETTERS that we should arrive on time, and have a checkbox that the buyer must sign separately to acknowledge those terms. On the other the staff member, Mciah, was SO SWEET! She literally did all she could to make sure we were able to make the most of the 20 mins we had left. Terrible experience at the Dallas Mockingbird location ... I am writing in regard to the terrible experience my family and I had last night at the Dallas Mockingbird location. I had family drive from all over the DFW area to meet up for someone's birthday surprise and everyone was excited. Its already hard enough to coordinate everyone's schedule, keep the birthday surprise a secret - all to come to a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT when we showed up 20 mins before our time slot for the manager to come to me and tell us that all the rooms were booked because the party before us booked it for the rest of the evening and then change the story to say some of the equipment isn't working. Seriously?! Also, a party of 4 who came in after us went in and they said because their party was a smaller size than 6 people. I paid for 6 tickets so we can do them together as a birthday gift. Is this really what the "Sandbox VR" experience is like? No one bothered to call me or email me to let me know before we all traveled to that location. We all showed up at the mockingbird location for someone to tell us ... "sorry there's nothing we can do." What kind of customer experience is that?! I had my reservation booked a week in advance, and even got two confirmation emails leading up to our time last night. I even attempted to call each day to make sure (but also they don't answer the phone). The way everything was handled was terrible and there's no reason a VR digital experience couldn't have known they booked too many parties at the same time and did not give the courtesy to let us know before we traveled to the location. It was a wasted trip, a really disappointing birthday surprise, and the manager had no remorse. Didn't try to come up with a solution, even seeing if we can split up, etc. All he said all I can do is give you a refund. While the large group was laughing and popping bottles and drinking. Guess that group just bought the whole night that night and making reservations weeks in advance doesn't matter. This location already has been getting bad reviews on the overall customer experience. The poor communication, the disappointment in my family's faces, and the manager not really trying to find a proper solution last night was really bad. read more

Me and my boyfriend tried this out for date night on Wednesday and it was AMAZING! We walked in with no reservation and got a room going immediately. We chose the game called Deadwood Valley since it looked the spookiest. It lasted about 20 minutes and felt like a retro zombie shooter from an arcade but, you know, with a virtual reality experience tied to it. It was very easy to get the hang of and engaging enough that I was never bored. I do kinda wish there was a reallly scary one but I'm sure they'll get one going soon. Our guide, Amaan, was wonderful and so patient with us even though we were being annoying and arguing over the team name. The best part is the video, which was hilarious. Can't stop watching it. I came to this location for the first time yesterday evening. I was by myself and there was only one party playing and only one employee working as far as I could tell. After not being greeted nor acknowledged after 10 minutes of waiting (10 minutes after making my presence known to the only employee in sight) That same employee told me to "Give him a couple minutes". Instead of giving him a "couple " minutes, I walked back up to him 30 MINUTES LATER and politely asked him if he forgot about me. His facial expression told me he did. He then said "Give me a few, I'll be right with you". After waiting another 5 minutes, he proceeds to tell me he has nothing available that evening but if I come back the next day, he will give me 10% off This was my first and last time going there.
