It felt like something I could easily make at home. Chili momo was super spicy and had my whole mouth tingling and burning. This is my favorite place to go as a Nepali!!! The servers are great. They also give papad if the waiting period is long. Their ambience is good. For those with dogs, they have outdoor seating. Mango lassi was one of the worst I have had - tasted like the yogurt or milk was sour. For a party of 5, we had 2 plates of chicken steamed Momo, 1 plate of Titanic (Jhol) chicken momo, chicken lollipops, 2 chicken chowmein, and goat curry with nan and rice! We had 3 rounds of complementary chai. (trust me we kept asking for it. The chai was that good!) The momo was so fresh, piping hot with 2 styles of Nepali chutney, the chowmein came fresh with enough veggies and chicken, and the lollipop was crunchy! Came here last week and ordered for takeout. I had bought the 2x $50 gift cards for this place from Costco. When I came to pay for my food which was $110, they said they would only honor 1 of the gift cards and then they said this is a new policy that started last week. Nowhere in the entire store was it posted that only 1 gift card is allowed per 1 order. Next, the food was very mediocre. Butter chicken was a 3/5 until I found a hair in my gravy. So, I popped into this spot after hearing some pretty good things from friends and ended up with some mixed feelings. The place was bustling but had a nice laid-back vibe that made you feel right at home. It's one of those places you can tell is well-loved by the locals, but maybe a bit too much at times given how packed it was! The naan came out rubbery, and the samosas, which are usually my go-to, were cold and lacked that satisfying crunch. We had to flag down waiters just for water and refills, but I guess I'll cut them some slack since it looked like they were swamped catering to a big family next to us. With its cozy setup, it seemed like a good spot to unwind with friends--I just wish everything else matched up to that vibe. Also, the Chicken/Egg chowmein was subpar with stringy chicken peices(premade). The Shrimp65 wasn't authentic, came in a curd(!!) based sauce with few curry leaves. Fish fry oily. Chicken Manchurian(dry) was good. Finally the Nepali Chicken curry seemed authentic with a nice flavor to go with rotis. So I guess one should stick to basics & avoid any fusion. Decent Nepali-Indian fast food joint in Mountain View. Got there around 7:30 on a Friday evening for dinner with college friends and found the parking lot quite full. After squeezing into the last remaining spot, I joined my group, who had already ordered. I dug in, enjoying the spicy noodles and paneer already on the table, then filled my plate with tandoori momos that arrived, piping hot, from the kitchen. The chutneys which came with these had quite a kick to them, so I needed some soothing mango lassi, which was served promptly. More food arrived - plates of "California-style" fried rice and steaming Gobi Manchurian - but I was too full. So I caught up with my friends, listening to the nostalgic Bollywood music (70s - 80s - 90s) piping through the speakers, and reminiscing about the past. Dessert was Rasmalai and Gulab Jamun. I had saved a tiny bit of room, and enjoyed the former much more. Total bill was $228 (after tax, tip and credit card surcharge) for 7 people. I bought the San Jose Synergy Restaurant gift card from Costco, which allows one to explore multiple restaurants in San Jose and the general Silicon Valley region. On Labor Day, my boyfriend and I decided to go out for lunch at one of the restaurants featured by the gift card, and we checked out Everest Cuisine in Mountain View. This restaurant has a mix of both Indian and Nepalese cuisines. Both of us had never had Nepalese food before, and so we used this as an opportunity to try out a Nepalese dish. We shared two entrees - Nepali Style Chicken Curry and Titanic Jhol Chicken Momo. I also ordered garlic naan for myself, because you can't have curry without naan! The Nepali Style Chicken Curry was incredibly flavorful and rich, and we both enjoyed the savory flavors from the dish. And you can't go wrong with garlic naan! The Momo entree itself was delicious with a nice, tender chicken filling. If you never had a Momo before, it's basically a Nepalese dumpling! It was my first time having jhol too, and the flavor was intriguing! It seemed to remind me of a really tangy tomato sauce, and added a unique flavor profile with the momos. The "titanic" name of the dish reflects the boat-shaped dish that the momos are served in, which I thought was pretty cute (luckily there's no crack along the bowl since it didn't hit any icebergs!) The service was great during our experience, and we received our food relatively quickly. The momos do take time to prepare, so plan to wait ~15 mins for those to come out! It was nice that they provided a water pitcher at our table, so we didn't have to haul a waiter each time for a water refill. Looking forward to coming back to try more Nepalese cuisines!
