It was our first time trying Nepali food, and overall we had a great experience. We ordered the Thakali chicken tray, which was nice, especially with the peas and beans on the side. The only downside was the chicken was chewy and pink. We also ordered the chicken tikka masala, and it was delicious the chicken was cooked perfectly. We also got their garlic Naan and plain and it was fresh. Very cozy restaurant but the music was alittle loud. The lady was helping us was very nice.

My husband and I ordered butter chicken, chicken momo, garlic naan, and chicken choila. The picture says it all

Overall good quality food. Service is quick. We had the chicken biryani which was very flavorful and moist. Then had the Gurkha chicken also very nice. At 12 pm the place was busy but service was good. We would come back.

This was my family's first time at the Gurkha Kitchen. I have been wanting to try it for some time now. We ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani for the kids. My wife and shared a chicken thali. We were worried if the butter chicken would be too spicy however, it was mild, buttery, tender and above all tasty. Chicken Biryani portion was very generous and was just right. Chicken thali was an experience was lots of different taste and texture. We had a wonderful meal and will look forward exploring other menus.

Food was excellent. The momo meat is infused with fat giving making it both flavorful and not dry. Service is fast despite a full restaurant. Ambiance is lively.

What a delicious lunch! I brought my parents to Gurkha and we enjoyed everything. Service was very friendly and I learned this location is the original Gurkha Kitchen. We ordered a variety of dishes to share-Chicken Momos, Goat Curry, Thalli set chicken and garlic naan. Loved all the flavors. The momos were filled with tender ground chicken in a delicate wrap and served with a curry dipping sauce. The goat curry was very tender and savory. My parents especially loved this dish over rice. I loved the Thalli set which is served with a variety of sides. The dal (black lentils) and the sautéed veggies were so good and the restaurant offers free refills! The chicken (bone in) curry was flavorful. The garlic naan was soft and fresh. Perfect for all the sauces. Delicious and I'll definitely be back!

Dining in may have provided a better experience. We were so enamored with the San Ramon location last night, we went to try the Sunnyvale location since we were in the area. The servers were friendly and brought us complimentary chai tea while we waited for our food. The restaurant was smaller and more decorative than the San Ramon restaurant. We ordered our food to go and were slightly disappointed, partly because our bag tipped over on the way home and the tandoori chicken sauce got over every container and inside the bag. The chicken momos were shaped more like Chinese dumplings/Japanese gyozas instead of the unique little volcanos we had last night. They were still delicious. The tandoori chicken was not as juicy since we lost a lot of the sauce. We tried the lamb biryani. It was spicy and good. Definitely use the yogurt sauce they serve with it. Loved all the big chunks of lamb. We will go to the restaurant again and dine in to get the full experience.

Was not busy on the weekday for lunch so quick ordering & food came quickly. The chicken momo is super juicy! Def taste the various spices but was not too spicy and the sauce was really good. The chick thali brought back the taste of Nepal and was super good. I was secretly hoping the waiter would come around with the caddy for free refills but we're on the states so I'll keep the wishful thinking!

Their service is great. Ambience is cozy filled with Nepalese decor. We ordered a lot of things, but my favorite is their thakali thali (goat, veg, chicken) - Nepali Approved! I order it often. WaiWai sadheko is more like WaiWai chatpate, but it's yummy - order it. Their momo is not that good.

Picked this spot to have a nice romantic lunch with hubby. We biked over and were promptly seated. Ordered: Goat thali: hubby said this was really good and would order again. I tried the non goat portions and everything was tasty! Paneer tikka masala: 4/5 sauce was good and paneer was good too. Garlic naan: 5/5 yum! Friendly service. It did take a while for our food to be served but we weren't a big rush.

We saw this next to "new india bazar" when we visited on the weekend for some last minute grocery shopping. It has a big parking lot right outside. It's open till late. Then we saw it "open" on yelp late last night on "uber eats" past 9 pm also and giving out promotions like "free item over $30" and "buy 1, get 1 free" on butter chicken, channa, gurkha chicken. So we decided to give it a try. In $41, we got: - chicken momos (regular-medium spicy) - 3/5 the mixture was ok but shell was slightly more doughy for me if i compare it to Everest momo food truck. I wish they gave the chili hot sauce for dipping on the side like most momo places. Their orange sauce was lame. Reducing 1 star for sauce :( - butter chicken 4/5 - it was buy 1 get 1 free which was a good deal. It was more tangy than most places but i think it showed it had less processed puree. It did taste better today as leftovers with home made rotis. - fried rice veggie 3/5 - a full size portion of it came free when you order for more than $30. It was dry for me but maybe if you order a Manchurian dish it will pair well

Our go-to spot for takeout. Our daughter loves the chicken momos, and the chilli chicken is always on point spicy with a hint of sweetness. Tandoori is well-marinated and flavorful, not burnt. The chicken Gurkha thali is warm comforting homely meal . Casual ambiance and consistently satisfying food.

Social media strikes again…read more.. I came across a reel on IG featuring Iraklis. The food looked intriguing and scrumptious...in other words FIRE! I would not have known about this place if it wasn't for the reel. I'm also not familiar with Syrian and Lebanese cuisine. Thought I'd give it a shot. Not the biggest of venues, it a bit small on the inside, they have few benches and tables outside. Parking wasn't an issue, plenty of spaces in the parking lot. The staff was very helpful and informative. This is a fast casual spot with table service. They do bring the food to you, but you can help yourself to everything else afterwards, is: water, sauces, napkins etc. #SyrianEats: WRAP: ~ SHAWARMA: Damascus style CHICKEN - 5/5 Absolutely DELISH!! Love the garlic spread that came on the side. The wrap was already tasty enough, but somehow it was even tastier with the Garlic spread. Even the fries that came with it were spectacular! That drizzle pomegranate molasses... just DELISH!! This was one of the best wraps I had Stateside. Actually the best! PLATE: ~ MANSAF - 5/5 The Lamb shank was excellent as well! Tender fall of the bone with flavor galore, and the butter sauce was amazing as well...delish! The rice that came with the Lamb shank was OK. It was probably good, but the flavor profile didn't stand up to the rest of the food. I thought it could use more flavor, but that just me nitpicking... 4.5 ***** rounded up to 5***** for me This food here is amazing. I'll be back...

This one was disappointing enough to feel worth documenting. My boyfriend and I ended up here after attempting to go to Treehouse nearby (which had an hour wait--unsurprising given the concept). This restaurant was a short walk away, which actually worked out well given how congested the area was, and we walked in optimistic. The space itself is very large, but nearly empty for a weekday evening. It felt family-owned and casual, which I usually love--many of my favorite restaurants fall into that category. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that warmth. We were given a different menu than other diners, which immediately felt odd. Service wasn't overtly rude, but it was noticeably unwelcoming--almost a "why are you here?" tone rather than hospitality. We ordered hummus and feta, both of which were surprisingly expensive for the portion and quality. We were told bread would arrive automatically with the hummus, but it didn't--despite asking multiple times. When it finally arrived, it was poorly cooked and no longer served any purpose, as we were already well into the meal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our mains took about 30 minutes. One dish--a kebab--was fine but very forgettable for a $30+ price point. My dish, dumplings in a yogurt-based sauce, was honestly inedible. I left it untouched and mentioned that it didn't taste good. The response was simply, "Oh, so you don't want a box?" No attempt to fix the issue or even acknowledge it. What sealed it for me was the overall condition of the place. Dirty cutlery, a generally rundown interior, and a lack of attention to cleanliness made it uncomfortable to eat there. I'm not picky about ambiance when the food and service deliver--but here, nothing quite worked together. The whole experience felt very turn-and-burn, as if the restaurant relies on proximity to a popular area rather than repeat customers. I left feeling like unless you're part of a specific in-crowd, this isn't a place that's trying very hard to win you over. Personally, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it--especially given the pricing and the many better options nearby.

They have interesting dishes with paneer and chicken as well. We ordered two dishes- Leela lasun keema - This dish was intriguing, with cheese, grated egg, and a rich, spicy gravy. The portion size was generous; a single person won't be able to finish it with just three breads. It was very filling, we took back home the leftover and enjoyed it later with some rotis. They have another version of this- "kachu" with runny eggs instead of grated eggs.. well thought option! Volcano egg biryani- The dish is as interesting as its name suggests. The base is an omelette, and the rice is flavorful with bell peppers, finely chopped veggies, and aromatic spices. The center is with a tomato-based curry. The cheese on the side was amazing, and I loved it. The spicy guava drink is super refreshing with a playful mix of spice, salt, sourness, and the sweetness of guava. I really enjoyed it! They have music playing and the place is lit, creating a total vibe for spending time in the evening on a lazy weekend/ after work, or post-workout. As a newbie to somali food, I am now hooked. we came in on a friday around 6:15 and there was a steady group of people enjoying their food. we ordered at the counter and took a seat outside to enjoy the weather 1 Sambusa 1 chicken wrap 1 beef plate the sambusa arrived first and initially I thought Samosa in my head. But the sambusa has a better structure, holding its shape after multiple bites. the Dough is softer but still crispy. it came with beef , chilies and other vegetables. so so good. the perfect appetizer for us. it came with a spicy green sauce that seemed to be the common sauce for every dish then the stars of the show. The sizzling hot beef plate served with veggies, rice and a salad was unbelievable. add on a lemon and some more greens sauce and you're in for a treat. the rice alone was so flavorful and it tasted like there was meat drippings on top. the beef was so tender and fell apart in 1 bite. I was blown away with the dish the chicken wrap... man. I'm not sure what kind of bread, pita was used but it was fantastic. a huge wrap with lettuce, onion chicken, sauce and other veggies. It was so messy and hard to eat with your hands so we resorted to eating with a fork and knife. Unreal. Unreal. massive portions again which are a theme here. But holy smokes this was so good. The chicken has a nice char, but is also juicy and saucy. the spongy pita neutralizes the bombardment of flavor from the meat, and the veggies compliment everything with some crunch and texture. Service was great and very helpful. They were extremely friendly and a delight to talk with. We will be back 5/5

It's a nice cozy restaurant near the Chenoywyth VTA train station in San Jose on the train side. My brother and his friend have been going here for maybe twenty years. The food is tasty, the rice has a nice flavor, and the chicken has onions and other vegetables with some spices with which I wasn't able to identify. They offer a chai tea without milk, it was sweet and very flavorful. I also did takeout and ordered a goat dish with rice for my mom at home. She also enjoys eating this dish when she comes here with my brother. I would definitely come here again.
