I love Nepali food so much, and California MoMo Kitchen always cures my cravings. I can never resist a good momo, and their steamed chicken momos are so juicy. We also got a veggie Nepali thali, the perfect sharing size for two people. The aloo gobi and daal were definitely the highlights of the thali, and the mustard green salad and carrot + daikon pickles were refreshing elements. As a Nepalese, my favorite food from this restaurant is their chatpate & jhol momo (must try!). Normally, I order veg jhol momo & it's always yum. Jhol taste is similar to that of Nepal. Their chowmein is good too. Chai is how you'd normally expect. I also ordered Prawn Thukpa and it was 6/10. They have plenty of outdoor seating and you can take your dog (but not allowed inside)! The owners are easygoing, polite & friendly. You can always strike a good conversation. I take my dog often. We had a conversation once; they asked me about my dog & told me about theirs. They gave her water too. The servers are great and check on you often. Dining there is a good experience - both inside & outside. It's cozy. It was my first time trying Nepal cuisine and I'm absolutely obsessed! We ordered the crispy paneer momos, veggie momos, buffalo momos, garlic naan, lamb skewers, and goat curry. The momos here are fantastic, the filling is so flavorful and the dough is the perfect consistency! I also loved the jhol sauce that you can order on the side. It's creamy and was the perfect sauce to dip the momos in. The garlic naan was buttery and the perfect side to the meal. The menu has lots of vegetarian options but it's not very clear what items are vegan. The lamb momo was very flavorful and came with a portion of curry which added even more flavor. The pan seared part was good but it wasn't very crispy; I'd be curious to try their original form. The chicken curry was also very good and flavorful - would highly recommend. Unfortunately since everything is made fresh to order, this made it difficult with larger parties like ours to get food at similar times. Food was a bit slow to come out (took at least 30 mins) and the first person to get their food waited until their food got entirely cold before the last person got theirs. This place is a hidden gem. The staff are incredibly nice and the owner always comes out to ask how we enjoyed our meal. The place is family friendly, and lots of families eat here, so if you don't want to eat near children, this is not the right restaurant. We always order their vegetarian Momo's, chow mein, chicken tikka masala with rice, and lamb skewers with salad. Recently we've had to start ordering two plates of chicken tikka masala, because our four-year-old has been devouring an adult size portion all to himself. We were very excited to have Nepali momos and this met and exceeded our expectations. We tried three styles of momos: Paneer jhol style (ie in a curry) Veggie kothey style (ie stemmed followed by pan fried) Chicken chili style (sauteed in a red chili sauce with bell peppers and onions) Apart from that, we also ordered the chicken kebab with a salad, chow mein, and samosa. We ordered take out as it was pretty busy when we came for lunch. We ordered the chicken tika masala, prawn chow mein and added paneer, and chicken momo. I like that you can choose the spice level on the chicken masala. For the chow mein the lowest level of spice was mild which was a little strange, but luckily the mild was not mild anyways. The chow mein was super flavorful. The chicken momo was not as flavorful, but the sauce it came with made up for the lack of flavor. My friend and I dropped by this restaurant around 5pm on a Monday. We ordered the johl veggie momos and pan seared panner momos. The wateriness did say the veggie momos are better pan seared than with the johl but we were very curious to try it. She was right -- the veggie momos and johl combination was mediocre but separately they tasted great. The panner momos though were fantastic! My only negative comment would be more spice haha. Compared to the food trucks, the spice level here is very minimal. There was chili oil so it helped but I wish the momo itself had more spice. We also ordered the chapate wei wei which was so so good and just spicy enough :) I would highly recommend trying that! Price-wise, it was very reasonable; the overall bill was $36.
