I'm deeply disappointed and honestly disgusted by the Everett YMCA's lack of compassion. This organization loves to advertise itself as being about community, inclusion, and caring for others--but when given a real opportunity to live those values, you failed completely. My daughter's partner was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given a prognosis of 6-12 months. He is currently on SSI disability since he can no longer work so his income is very limited, and asked about a free membership, and the answer was a flat no. Just policy over people. For an organization that claims to be community-focused, that response was shocking and unexpected. He is facing overwhelming physical, emotional, and financial stress. Something as simple as access to a supportive, healthy environment could make a meaningful difference--yet the Everett YMCA chose bureaucracy over basic human decency. If this is how you treat people at their most vulnerable, then all the talk about "healthy living," and "social responsibility" is just marketing fluff. read more

They are extremely unprofessional. They closed today due to lack of power, but they don't put it up anywhere on their website or on the phone or on Google. They constantly are changing the pool schedule, so you never know what's going on. They don't update the website and they don't update the pool schedule on the Internet. They're just not organized. The City Of Everett needs to open up the Forest Hill Park pool because there is not enough pool time available at the YMCA for the City Of Everett. read more

This YMCA location is hands down the best and most family friendly facility we've ever been to. We have a family membership, and everyone loved it. My 5 year old loves the childcare center, and enjoys the kids swimming area. My two teenage boys love the teen center, pool, and the gym. I frequent the gym a few days per week. I'm impressed with how clean they keep the equipment and entire gym area, including the bathrooms! Very friendly and helpful staff. Very well worth the membership cost! read more

My wife and I work out here regularly. It would be four stars if the gym area wasn't jam packed so often. Some days there are little kids running around, playing with/on the equipment. All the time, people hog machines or weights and benches, and look at you like you're from Mars when you ask if you can work in. There is one pair of 25 lb. dumbbells, so getting ahold of them is like winning the lottery. On the plus side, the views from the gym windows are awesome, and there is always plenty of parking. But for working out, the Marysville branch seems superior. read more

I went to take my kids to the pool and everyone was SO nice and helpful ! My kids loved the lazy river so much and my favorite was the hot tub lol My two year old son keeps asking can we go back so o decided to buy a monthly membership for the summer months I also want to try the swim class soon The whole place is clean and not too busy but I went in the morning before school was out !!! I have requested to speak to the aquatic director for the past three weeks to address options for disabled parents not able to assist child in open swim, yet the child is in paid swim classes for the past three years without any benchmarks for swimming testing. The most unprofessional gym I've ever been to. You walk in and the employees at the front desk make faces and make you feel not welcome. I quite going to this YMCA in February of 2023 for this reason but my husband and our children continued to go there. They also retaliate against guests when they make a bad review or a complaint against an employee. Anytime you tell staff that you aren't happy about being treated a certain way, it's an "incident". I went into this YMCA to make a complaint against the manager in charge of the childcare area because she was picking on my autistic son, refusing to make reasonable accommodations for his disability and allowing him to be physically assaulted by a volunteer without holding them accountable. After I made the complaint, they banned my husband from the YMCA two days later for "having a bad attitude". Of course he had a "bad attitude" when staff is picking on his disabled son and constantly finding reasons to harass my husband!! We have been going to gyms together for 20 years with ZERO issues until we wrote a negative review about the staff of the Y in 2022. Ever since then they have made sure to make my family not feel welcome in their gym. The blatant discrimination against my disabled son put me over the edge and I've since retained an attorney. I'm going to make sure this never happens to another family. I've paid $150 for a family membership for six years to be mistreated. Their behavior is totally unacceptable read more

I was going to another gym for years and loved it, but decided to go to the the Y to switch it up. I was truly blown away from the machines, much better and cleaner than PF a bit less equipment, but there us also a lot less people there too which is a plus. What got me the most is the the friendly staff and gym members who ate for the most part very inviting to the groups that I attend, Wednesday Core and Friday Bootcamp they are both rough, kicks your can but you feel awesome after and a bit sore, but in a good way. On my my days I don't do groups I do the weights and the cardio machines are awesome where it gives you virtual trophies for accomplishments which motivates you to go further. The pools are also a plus but there are a lot of kids in there so I stay away from that not to mention it's always too crowded. The cost is a bit high(about $60 a month) but is worth it if you can afford it. ... over all this is my new favorite gym and very clean with friendly staff read more

I belong to both YMCA and LA Fitness. Both have their plus's and minus's. The Y often has a lot of kids all over the place. Not that I don't like kids, but I'm a senior and kind of like a quiet workout. And the pool...can't hardly get in it during the summer! BUT love the sauna, steam and hot tub. Also, it's a small think but I love getting a free cup of coffee on my way out. It always tastes soooo good! LA Fitness has more weight machines, but a much smaller pool and their hot tub is out of service as much as it's in service. Also, it's not very clean. Lots of mold in the pool are which always gives me cause...like should I really be here? Also like the locker area at LA better than the Y. Much roomier. So I go to both depending on the day of the week and time of the day. read more

Horrible customer service I walked down the wrong hall looking for the locker room, ended up near daycare and ran into a lady with longer black slightly curly hair and a ymca employee shirt on and asked her which way to locker room and she ignored me as I could plainly tell she heard me I acknowledged her bs and went and found the locker room on my own I have had a y membership going on 5 yrs and was just visiting the everett y because I was in the area and getting in a quick workout. We are not members of the YMCA but have recently started utilizing their sports programs and kids classes. We have found it to be extremely easy to find parking and to jump in and out for class. The staff members I have interacted with have all be extremely nice and the life guards are very attentive to the children in the pool. We really enjoy it! read more

The pool is hardly ever open for lap swims. I called today and was told that open swim was going on from 1245 to 1545. I show up at 2 pm and am told that there is no lapse swimming because their stupid, greedy insurance doesn't think they have enough lifeguards. Why wasn't I told that when I called in this morning. I swam at Y's before where there were no lifeguards. I won't sign up for this YMCA because the swimming hours are not set up for a person that works. The place is closed on Sunday. Last week they closed the open swim an hour early on Saturday. Everett needs to reopen the Forest Hill Park Pool because this pool will never fill it's need with the way this Y's pool is being managed. Poorly! read more

I pay 130 a month to use the pool here. The gym area is small and packed all the time, so my money obviously isn't going towards world class gym amenities. They have no clue what way is up when it comes to who can swim, when they can swim, and what place they can actually swim at. It should be abundantly clear on the schedule as to whether I can bring my 2 year old to swim. No gray area, no "well I think you can use the kid zone now" literally all we do here is go to the pool and 130 a month to be turned away 50 percent of the time is BS. I would love to cancel and leave the Y in the dust, but forest park isn't open yet. read more

Be aware there are thieves in the women's locker room. I got my lock cut off and my phone, car keys, and credit card stolen while I was swimming between 1pm and 2pm on a Monday. Police contacted and staff alerted but we will be contacting management over this incident. Anybody can walk into that place. No consistent monitoring of the comings and goings and people walking in without scanning a member card. Yes, a member could be ripping people off or someone walking in off the street. Either way they need to raise awareness about this issue. Can't possibly have been the first time this has happened. I felt uncomfortable about a young woman standing in there next to me. Should have paid attention because it was likely someone waiting for an opportunity. Nobody else in the locker room but me and her. Within minutes of discovering the theft I used the branch phone to cancel my credit card but within that hour (I'm assuming I was robbed right after I went into the pool at 1pm) the thief used my credit card at the QFC a few blocks away from the Everett YMCA. The person made several attempted purchases and two of the three were declined. Now they have my house keys and car keys and they could get yours too. What a horrid thing to do. It's a good thing I didn't actually have the car in the parking lot or they would have found it right away and more than likely taken that too. Then the nightmare would have been through the roof. Now we have to pay to change our door locks and our car key fobs and I had to buy a new phone. This will end up being a two day clean up affair and will cost us about $1800 all because I went lap swimming. I tell you this to wake you up. All of you nice women there need to know there are thieves lurking there waiting to take your hard earned stuff and your peace of mind. This is a reminder other women can and will rob you. What a shame crime follows us everywhere here in Everett even into a place that's supposed to be a fun and happy destination. read more

This is an older Y; you can tell the minute you walk in. That said, it has all you need to get a good workout. You just might need to navigate a bit to get there, including taking the stairs up a couple floors to walk through the gym to the side door to the room where a class is... Weird. But whatever, it works. My FitBit is a bit happier with the steps. Plus, I actually realized there is parking--not just in the 90-minute spots along the street but in a Y lot across the street for two hours. And in case you care, they are the one location nearby that has a steam room [that feels a bit like an insanity chamber]; Mill Creek has nada like this and Mukilteo is close but only has a dry sauna. Despite this, this place still feels old and almost fast-food like in terms of customer service. I can see why most folks don't quite like it, but it does the job. Bottom line: Um, it does the job and has a steam room. read more

This is a family gym. People join because everyone else is doing it and they hope to run into five of their friends. Everyone in North Everett has a membership so they can carpool the entire block in one mini-van for a morning workout. The facility is old and small, but it has everything. It was a pool and separate kiddie pool, lots of racquetball courts, large locker rooms, and lots of classes. They also have childcare and lots of youth activities. By being a member, I not only get to workout with the rest of the neighborhood, I get to help out the community. And they YMCA makes me feel good! read more

Awesome class options with motivating instructors, great range of hours, top notch child care... the list goes on and on. The building is old, however they've kept it up well while not being wasteful with everyone's money on non-necessities (they rely a lot on donations, but you can tell the leadership isn't focused on just serving themselves). I went to a Saturday morning Zumba class with a friend one weekend and thought this gym was not bad for an older gym. The room for the treadmills and elipiticals was small but not cramped. But no doubt that on weekdays all the machines would be taken. The Zumba class was in a section where there is an upstairs track if you want to go for a run. The locker room was pretty big and clean and the shower area had two saunas. Although the saunas made it very warm in there so you just might end up sweating again. They have several floors so you will get warmed up a little using the stairs prior to your workout. There is also have a pool if you want to go swimmimg. Check in is quick and the staff is friendly. Parking is on the street. read more

I'm a new member of the Y, but I have to say that this is the first time I've gone to a gym and not felt really awkward for being less than a body-builder. The patrons are just normal people. Everyone seems pretty friendly. I've found the front desk staff to be really nice and patient with all my questions. I have a lot of them! The only reasons this isn't a 5 star review is that 1) they allow swim diapers in the pool. I'm not going to swim in baby excrement, so while I'd love to take advantage of the water exercise classes.... no. And 2) the locker room is so freaking humid I can't get dry after a shower. I've given up and just come home to take a shower. Otherwise, I love the Y. It is quite expensive but there are a ton of classes and everything is free beyond your membership (which is no contract and no joining fee - just a month to month charge.) I don't have kids so I can't review that aspect. I will say that there are a lot of kids there but while I see them walking *through* the gym, they somehow manage to keep them out of the way of what adults are doing. Kudos to them for that. The only time the kids have bothered me is one time I was working out and a little girl walked through multiple times holding a delicious smelling bag of fast food. No fair! (And against the rules but nobody seems to enforce the "no food in the gym" rule.) read more

BEWARE THESE SCAM ARTISTS!! Apparently when you sign a membership, you agree to cancel 2 weeks before your payment due date or you will be charged another WHOLE month fee! So I cancelled our membership March 4th for terrible service and hours, then on March 16th, they pulled another $120 out of my bank account! Especially in times like this when people are out of work, for a "family" focused establishment to be so greedy and conniving is very upsetting. The gym is huge, clean, great choices of classes, and the daycare staff are mostly kind and patient with kids. (A couple of the older ladies are a little inpatient with kids/rude to parents, but the younger staff is always very friendly and great with my kids.) However, the hours of the daycare are terrible if you have a job! The daycare closes at 1:15 in the afternoons for an hour or two, then closes all together at 3pm on weekends! So if you have a job that you get off at 2pm, you are wasting $120/month on a gym membership you can't use since the daycare is closed when the gym is open. Very frustrating. All of the other gym daycares in the area suck, otherwise I would change my membership to a facility that plans their childcare hours better, for the needs of their members. Edited to add: we cancelled our membership today! The daycare area is poorly ran. Today, a girl maybe 1 years old, had a giant purple/red goose egg on her forehead. The daycare staff filling out the incident report kept going on about how she was standing on a chair, so it was her fault. She mentioned it several times to several people that came in. If you're a daycare staff, your job is to ensure the safety of children. I understand that children climb on chairs, but it's then your responsibility to get them off of the chair before they crack their head open. Not place the blame on them. Also, they keep changing the rules on which side of the daycare children are allowed to be on. So my son, who is been on the big kid side since we got our membership, is now being forced to stay on the baby side even though he'll be three in one month. His older sister is on the big kids side and he's been used to playing on that side since we got our membership. He kept crying when we tried to drop him off today, so I asked the office desk if it would be OK for him to be on the big side since we were having a hard time dropping him off. The front office said that that would be OK to ask the day care staff if it would be all right to let him play on the big side. When we asked the day care staff on the bigger kids side, they had no problem with that, but the older woman who I have previously complained about said 'no' very rudely with attitude. So be careful if you post any bad reviews and still plan on attending the gym. They definitely hold a grudge. Moving on to a better gym! read more

The facility isn't open on Sundays, so for those folks who work all week and would like to work out on the weekends when you have more time and energy, be aware of that. Also, this location has way more members than the facility can reasonably support so it's always packed to the point where machines just aren't available. But the main drawback is that the facility is overrun with rude teenagers who want to "hang out" and could care less about being considerate and letting other members use the facility. If you're an ADULT and would like to get in, get done with your workout and get on with the rest of your life this is NOT the gym for you. If you're a teenager and want to hang out with your bros 5 and 6 deep so that other people can't use the equipment, stand around, talk and look at yourself flexing in the mirror, apparently THIS is your place! I've also witnessed children (I'm guessing 8-10 years old, totally unsupervised in the weightlifting area hurt themselves) because their parents dumped them off and the staff just wasn't around. Oh, also they decided to close the entire week after Christmas to "give the staff a break", still charged for the full month of access though.....Bye, Bye! read more

I recently joined the YMCA and have checked out a couple of them. Initially, I went to the Mill Creek YMCA and have been there a handful of times. Mill Creek is a glorified Youth Day Care Center, but everyone is expected to pay for what they will never be getting...just like Obamacare, but enough about that I love the vibe of this old YMCA on Rockefeller Ave. The building itself seems to welcome you with open arms, which is an experience I have never felt at any other Y. There are several floors at the Rockefeller Ave branch, which is ok because we're here to exercise, right? Although the place is old it is well maintained. It has both sauna and steam rooms (not at the much newer Mill Creek YMCA), plenty of lockers, nice indoor pools, old but adequate showers, racquetball/basketball courts, a covered outdoor track on the roof, a spin bike studio (you'll have to be willing to walk 4 flights up, but its worth it). There are really many options at this Y and it was clearly ALWAYS for EVERYONE, not just primarily for children (like Mill Creek), in the neighborhood. We all need a welcoming place to go to where we can do something good for ourselves/bodies on a regular basis and I believe this is the place. I don't know when, but I heard they will be replacing this Y with a newer building at some point, but I for one can wait. I wonder why it can't just be updated. I really don't think they will be building anything that can compare to this building's positive energy and uniqueness, at least they didn't in Mill Creek. The staff is helpful, but seems a bit inexperienced when it comes to interacting with clients. There's no getting around it, you really have to be a people person when you work in any service related field, a quality that is missing in many service related fields. Admittedly, I have only been there three times so far so maybe its just a matter of them becoming familiar with me. We'll see as I plan to develop a routine and go several times a week. NOTE: The monthly membership cost and added start-up fee to join the YMCA is not cheap; however, worth it if the YMCA branch has all of the same amenities, especially Sauna/Steam room/Classes. If they don't, I believe there should be a smaller monthly membership fee offered, taking this into consideration, which there is not. Basically, if the YMCA branch is not providing the option, it is not entitled to the same amount of money that another location, that does include the options, is getting. What? You say you can go to ANY Y for the same money? Don't even try to rationalize it by raising this argument because, like Obamacare, it is seriously flawed. read more

I have been going to the YMCA in snohomish county on and off for 20 years. I used to believe that the newer Ys in the county were better and cleaner and more hip.... I started going to the Everett YMCA consistently a couple of times a week about a year ago now. I have to say that I am extremely pleased with this experience. The front desk staff is diverse but very friendly. There is a ton of character wrapped into this building starting with the structure, then the workers, and lastly the clients. I feel the Everett YMCA is a wonderful reflection of the residents of our awesome city and I thoroughly enjoy interacting with everyone who is involved. read more

Yeah the building is a little older, but they have a steam room, yes! Getting around the building can be a chore as it has several floors. If you are older it might not be your thing. Jogging on the roof is cool as you get some beautiful views of the sound and mountains. If you are trying to shed some pounds do yourself a favor and join the Y. read more

I've been going to this YMCA since I was a very small human. It's a family gym run by some very good people. Judy and Gael are both supportive and wicked funny. Since I don't have kids and can't take advantage of the many youth activities, I use this place just as a gym. Some major, and mostly recent cons - the front desk staff is not at all friendly anymore. I miss the warm greetings and have-a-nice-day's. Plus the multiple little notes on all the cardio machines to wipe down and sign up are excruciating. read more

I am a ymca member i always go to ymca monroe. They are very nice and friendly over there but YMCA Everett the employee is very rude i have been there twice but never see him. My classmate she is nutrition student and she asked me about gym membership she would like to join near her house in Everett so i offer her a pass that i have because i am a ymca member. I decided to go YMCA Everett because my friend want to try if she like will apply membership. When we went there the employee that man said he cannot allow my friend to use gym because we want to crinimal protection. My friend she bring passport color copy(Not black and white copy) and student ID card that show her photo and name. Credit card that show her photo and name. 3 card that show photos and name. The employee said we cannot allow her join because he want original passport. The purple invited card does not say that we need to show "" original passport" my friend have 3 things that prove that same name and photos. 1.Passport color copy(Show name and photo) 2.Student ID card ECC(Show name and photo) 3.Credit Card (Show name and photo) That employee not even look at those documents just said we cannot allow her in because criminal protection. My friend she is japanese and 29 years old. She is nutrition and she work in the hospital before. She come here for continue Nutrion study. She doesnot look like a criminal. If that employee have a good """"service mind"""" he wouldnot say that. He will tell us nicely and be gentle man. If he is a really nice person he will look at 3 ID cards that my friend have and tell her nicely. This man say for criminal protection 3-4 tims over and over again. Ok, so I usually go to the Marysville YMCA but since it was recently being renovated I got a chance to visit the Everett location last week. Overall it's a nice facility with a couple basketball courts, pools, steam room etc... I enjoyed the fact that it does also offer a steam room with the sauna. However, it's a really old building and does need a makeover. When I tried playing basketball the court was kind of squishy from old wood beneath the floor. I'd like to see the place get renovated. read more

I love this place! I have to say that it's the first "Y" I've been to, so I don't have a standardized perspective. But the staff are friendly and very accommodating, they have a great assortment of classes, and I love that they have a warmer, family pool aside from the big pool and hot tub. Some people don't care for the age of the building (100 years, or there-abouts) but I find it charming. read more

this gym truly sucks in the times of COVID. The most unfortunate thing about this gym is the scheduling required to even get into the gym. They have specific time slots for each specific activity you choose to do. Strength and Cardio are both separate categories, which makes absolutely no sense considering they are in the SAME ROOM. They allow 8 people to be on any strength machine or in a separate area where they have free weights and squatting pads, and allow 12 people in the cardio area. All of the cardio equipment is so close together and not "distanced" at all. Most people do cardio AND weights when they work out. Now being that there are time slots and so little capacity, it makes it VERY hard to get an accurate workout. I know of many gyms that allow anyone to move freely between cardio, weights, basketball court, etc. for the reason that not everyone is limited to one section for 60 MINUTE time slots. It would be appreciated by me and many others if this gym could re-establish guidelines. I know no one that is going to do cardio for 60 minutes at time, when most workouts are broken down into groups... very upset with this gym and look forward to finding a new one (: read more
