They have no business dealing with anything not right in front of them. They can barely handle that! That couple minutes turned into an hour. I had to finally go up to the counter when I saw other people getting their food quickly. That got the woman behind the counters attention. Because I think she forgot again. She apologized and said they had been swamped. Is that my problem? Then she tried to offer me a drink for compensation. Um, are we talking about the same drink I ordered and paid for. At that point I just wanted to go. Got home and opened the food. As long as it took, you would have thought it was freshly cooked. Everything looked like it had been sitting around all day. When I saw the turkey wings as a special, I knew I had screwed up. It was old. The gumbo greens were disappointing. They burned it and had the nerve to serve it to me as if I wouldn't notice. My experience with the owner was unpleasant. She came across as rude, dismissive, and lacking the level of professionalism customers deserve. I understand that running a successful business is stressful. Being short-staffed, dealing with equipment issues, or needing renovations can be frustrating, but those challenges should never be taken out on customers. We didn't create those problems, and we shouldn't be made to feel unwelcome because of them. As the owner, your attitude sets the tone for your entire establishment. If the person leading the business treats customers poorly, it naturally makes people wonder what kind of culture exists among the rest of the staff. First impressions matter, and customer service is just as important as the food you serve. Again, the food is good there's no denying that. But great food alone isn't enough to earn my business. People remember how they were treated long after they've finished their meal. I genuinely hope the owner takes this as constructive criticism. A change in heart, a little more patience, kindness, and respect toward customers could take this business even further. I placed my order online, but when I arrived, I was told they had already closed at 3:00 PM. After I showed them that my order had been placed online before I arrived, they still took the time to make my food. Not only did they honor my order, but because of the mix-up, they hooked me up with an incredibly generous portion of fish. That level of customer service is exactly what keeps people coming back. That place struggled in its last days. It is interesting that Charbroiled Chicken & Grill serves lamb chops, lamb over rice, and gyros; perhaps to capture some of the clientele from the previous establishment. The menu is diverse and makes you wonder which of the ethnic cuisines they are most dedicated to when it comes to quality and authenticity. I've only experienced the Peruvian-influenced dishes which are consistent and delicious. In general, those items are what you'd expect from similar Peruvian-style restaurants in the DMV. After a few visits it is safe to say this place serves good charbroiled chicken. Their green sauce is delicious and similar to the original green sauce from Sardi's when they first hit the scene in PG County. One of these days I will try the chicken wings and tacos.
