I recently had to euthanize my 13 yr old Yorkie. The staff and Dr. Duvall were so kind and compassionate. They squeezed me in the same day I called. The pricing was reasonable! And they treated my sweet girl with a box of amazing treats to enjoy before the end. This treat box was such a nice surprise for me and my sweet girl. It made one of the worst days of my life a little brighter watching Pebbles enjoy all the snacks. I would not go there number one. The first time we went there I was really rude and I got apologized. The second time we went there the room was dirty. I had dog poop in the corner. I bit my tongue, took a photo of. It didn't say anything the doctor was nice but every time we call they get treated poorly and rude by one certain guy it's only one my guy went in, not just recently and he asked if they would fax it to the insurance company. He said they can't do that. They wouldn't do that that we had to do that but we were just there two weeks before that and they had no problem doing it. We had an amazing lady, but for some reason this guy has an attitude. I called today to check on an appointment and he told me to stop screaming. I was in front of 10 people on speakerphone and they were all going now. Shocking going you're on speakerphone you're not yelling. He was rude and disrespectful and unprofessional and I got put a hold for 10 minutes. I had to call back and then I got told I can't come back there again. I had two issues the very first time I went the girl was very rude to me about my dog and this one we spent a lot of money there we have two expensive dogs and then I run into somebody in the parking lot and they said they got treated the same Way and I just read something on Facebook for three other people said the same thing very dirty and not clean and the dogs are allowed to roam in the hallways in the clinic. What if they don't have shots I'm sorry but dogs are like family. The guy the manager was very unprofessional and rude and disrespectful, but I've heard that from many many people the big thing and it wasn't just thought that had to use the bathroom. Best experience. I have a 15 year old kitty with FIV. Brought him in because they had soonest availability, and I was met with the kindest, sweetest people. The environment is so calm, they are GREAT with cats. They were very helpful and were very conscious of vet expenses. They worked with me to prioritize services so as to save money and work with my (low) budget. Even though their prices are fair, they were still very apologetic of vet costs and not at ALL pushy like other vets. It is obvious they care so much about pets and their owners, and aren't just trying to make a profit. So positive, kind, and quick without rushing the process. I had an appointment at 10 am, and they called me with bloodwork results two hours later! From now on this is my vet and the only people I trust with my fur baby!! Moved here and needed a new Vetinary for my 3 dogs. They got us in right away and we're very professional. I appreciated the comprehensive check up they all got. Vet was thorough, she looked at their teeth, ears, bodies, eyes had good questions about their habits and did a fair assessment of the quality of life they have. We also were able to get some sedatives for our husky, during the Fourth of July . A great comfort for us because the noise really freaks him out and he becomes fearful for days. Well let me just say that I can't attest to the quality of the services this vet offers since they wouldn't help me. We travel full time in our RV and our dog was attached by another dog in southern Oregon and had to have stitches, which can't be removed for 10-14 days. I called 8 days in advance (the soonest I could after I knew what area we would be in) to request an appointment to have them removed. I told the receptionist my situation and she very kindly told me that they are not taking any new clients (doesn't say they aren't taking new clients on their website!) and that even if they were they couldn't get us in for 3+ weeks. All I needed was a few minutes of a vets time to remove the stitches from my poor dogs neck! So much for being compassionate. I understand everyone is busy but really how difficult is it to try to accommodate people in challenging situations? read more

We had our 8 your old pug here for his dental work. Pugs have very crowded teeth which sets them up for needing cleaning and possibly extractions. The veterinarian called after his procedure and explained how he did and what she assessed. She was very thoughtful and caring. We will certainly use her again for our other younger pug and our other 4 dogs. Our dogs are part of our family and it is such a relief to know our vet cares for them as well. read more

Still amazing, we brought our cat in due to a concern of a possible urinary tract infection and they were very good and informative for what could be done. We already had the VIP plan so the visit was covered and they had everything to send us home with for him. Today we had a follow up to confirm treatment worked and we're very early but they squeezed us in and kept him until they could get a sample. They took him back then explained everything and worked with our schedule and needs. The receptionist even went through the options for how much it could cost and benefits of renewing his VIP plan. I'm really wondering why I am taking my four animals to this vet. They are not there after 1pm on Fridays and they have no weekend hours. My dog needs some care. They gave us meds that my dogs is having a reaction to. I am getting no help. This is very disappointing. I talked to the weekend receptionist (Deborai) and she had very little in the way of empathy. This place is a treasure. I have a very old dog who has a low-grade cancer. The team here has been incredibly supportive, not pushy, and overall has compassionately devised an excellent care plan to help give her an superb quality of life. The veterinarians are wonderful. Here is a veterinary place that truely cares about treating your canine loved ones and NOT your typical corporate driven vets elsewhere in Salem. From the moment we went in to when we left, the service and attitudes of the staff were incredibly refreshing. They saw the sadness in our eyes and in our dog that they immediately got us into a room, actively listened to the problem, and made recommendations for treatment with cost considerations just in case we were concerned about it. It's so refreshing to see that the staff made it easy and weren't too concern about squeezing more money out of already distressed dog owners. I've been here 3 times now & always a pleasant experience. Everyone is so wonderful, great service & cost. My 1 issue is THE SMELL, ugh, while might smell good (scentsy in think) it gives me an instant headache (i left w/watery eyes and an itchy throat). It is so strong & powerful when you walk in the door. I'm sad as I don't know if I can keep coming back do to this. I wish I wasn't so sensitive to fragrances :(. I love this place! They take such good care of my animals. I have seen both Dr. Magruder and Dr. Barkley (great name for a vet, huh?!) and they were both so helpful with my animals. All the techs are great too and always handled my cats carefully. I have brought both old and young cats to them and I felt that they were very knowledgeable. It's also great that they can run a lot of lab tests in house and that keeps the costs lower and cuts down the time spent waiting for results. Highly recommend!! read more

The staff seems very nice and the vets too seem caring from limited contact. We brought two cats there and brought in our own urine samples both times. The one I kinda understand not being able to use as it was over 24 hours old, however, on our other sample it was fresh and barely 2 hours old sucked up in a syringe from a clean surface. At our previous vet in Denver we brought urine in all the time and sometimes from surfaces that may not have been ideal. Our vet would let us know if the urine specimen was still usuable to detect bacteria or blood even if it wasn't a perfect sample and sometimes they weren't so she would need to draw the urine, but if the urine was usable it saved us money. However we brought this clinic urine from a clean bath tub and it was fresh and the techs were excited especially since we had a hard to handle cat, but the vet refused to even consider using it. I feel overbilled for the urine draw on my bengal as it should not have been needed. Not to mention it was unnecessary stress my cat had to undure during the visit assuming it was really done as parents aren't allowed back with their furkids. read more

After many months of looking for the ideal vet, I think we have found them. The staff is friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable and the care is attentive. I was very impressed when we took our dog in for a dental exam. We were expecting to have to get a teeth cleaning for $200+. Instead the vet told us that Chloe didn't need a cleaning and instead advised us on how to care for her teeth and sold us dog toothpaste and a water additive. Our previous vet would have unnecessarily cleaned her teeth and charged us a premium price. We are customers for life!! read more

I had adopted a 2 year old dog from a rescue group. I need to get him a wellness check and they got me in right away. His ears were so dirty and it turns out he had a mild infection in both. They got him treated and now he is a loving and playful pup. He isn't even scared to go to the vet which is a huge deal. I think very highly of them. read more

I went to this place three times for my kittens. The first time was because they were to be seen by them for a check-up. The second time one of the kitties (just over 3 months old) had a cold/virus and he couldn't shake it and the vet said the other kitty would probably get it, she prescribed them some new medicine costing $23.22. I had just gone to another vet before this because he could hardly breathe, had him checked up (another office co-pay and they gave me some free medicine that was donated as I don't have much money). I purchased these kittens from Salem Friends of Feline and they were both sick when I bought them, unknown to me at the time of purchase. When I went in to get their shots, the little kitty was still sick, so the Executive Director of Salem Friends of Felines agreed to have the Evergreen Veterinary Hospital look at him again and she would pay for the office visit. So I just finished bringing in both kitties again, I dropped them off at 9:15 a.m. Evergreen Veterinary Hospital suggested I bring the kitties in and leave them all day as I was told they would be seen between surgeries by the vet since the office was too busy to schedule an appointment (this is last Friday, August 12th). As 5pm was approaching and I had heard nothing, I called them. The vet told me the little kitty was getting over the tail end (no pun) of the cold/virus and the other kitty had an eye infection and was going to prescribe some medicine for him. I told Jenny on the phone that I've been bringing them in a lot lately, paying for office visits and medicines, and didn't have much money, and that I had to forgo the medicine this time if they didn't have any donated or past the expiration date medicine. She smugly told over me over the phone that they don't do that! I got upset. On the way there, I called them, asking if I could get a written prescription for the medicine. I was informed that there was a $7.00 charge for a written prescription. I hung up and got even more upset. When I got there, no one was at the desk, although I could hear them talking and laughing in the back. I rang the bell and had to wait several minutes for someone to come out. Jessica appeared, asked me what I wanted. I told her, I was in tears. I paid for the office visits and as I was leaving, she tried to get sweet with me all of a sudden. I'm done with this place. The other vet I went to on River Road was a lot nicer and helpful! read more

I feel that the pets are just as happy to visit as the owners. Every time I've ever been here, the pets all seem relaxed and the owners happily chat with each other. The staff is amazing and it's clear they truly care about the well being of animals. There are even dog beds in each exam room. I also appreciate that they are more than just standard medicine. One client previously told me she takes all 3 of her dogs for dental cleanings each year. I was also told by the staff that as part of the "whole health" spectrum, acupuncture is available. The physical aspects of the clinic are welcoming as well. Everything is clean as a clinic should be but Evergreen also looks modern and welcoming. Warm colors on the walls and floor, nice lighting, refreshing smell and even some funky art is displayed. Also, free beverages while I wait is a perk I enjoy. Many vet clinics offer some sort of "package" deal requiring a lot of money up front but the VIP wellness plans I purchased for my 2 pets was the best decision for me. It sounds expensive but is actually completely affordable. I currently have happy, healthy pets and I'm happy to have found Evergreen Veterinary Hospital. My pets and I feel like we are part of a happy community instead of a dollar sign waiting in line. If your pets are part of your family, take them to Evergreen Veterinary Hospital. read more
