Truthfully, I've never experienced such rudeness as I did here. We arrived 20 minutes before closing and quickly ordered 2 salads. The staff was already putting food away and scuttling around like they were closing. We paid and I said we'd eat quickly. There were 2 other people eating, as well. We had been seated for about 10 minutes when a young woman who was probably the manager came over and said "we're closed. You need to wrap it up." I was kind of shocked and asked her to repeat herself...she had a hard time looking me in the eye. I told her I was eating as fast as I could. She then recommended we go outside to finish...it was night time and 39 degrees. We spent $34 on 2,bowls of lettuce, much of it slimy and black, and then had this moron tell us to go outside to finish...all while they were continuing to clean and put food away. I will never understand why restaurants put college kids in charge of running the place. They don't give a shit about the restaurant or the customers and can't wait to get out the door. I've worked a lot of food service jobs over the years...my ass would have been fired if I'd ever spoken to a customer in this way. read more

It's so sad that even a salad place like Evergreens doesn't serve fresh greens. The romaine lettuce was brown. If it were in my refrigerator, I would toss it out. The carrots and Asian pear also had brownish edges. Not fresh! The ambiance was let down by dirty tables. The service was fine. This is the second time I have been to Evergreens at two different locations and served old lettuce. The very reason I would choose to come and pay $13.47 for a salad is to enjoy fresh crisp healthy food. I probably won't give Evergreens a third chance. So sad. I've only been here a handful of times (in a more realistic sense, probably about three since this review) but I love coming here to create my own salad bowl, especially on days when I didn't prep my own! At first sight, you already know this store is healthy af. Which person are you: One who walks by quickly and go straight to dessert, or you're a salad loving individual who would get excited with a joint like this? Either way, slow down and give this place a try! You'll leave feeling great eating a bowl of greens. Plus, you can modify anything you want to fit your taste or choose one or their pre-made bowls. Our family loves Evergreen but find that this location at U Village consistently has some of the worst quality control and customer service we've ever seen. If I could give zero stars I would. Online orders are consistently incorrectly made, swapping add-one and ingredients for the wrong salads, completely leaving other add-ons, etc. The most egregious happened with Shashonda (sp?) today. We ordered 2 combos for $12 each before tax and was charged $33. After realizing the mistake, we called to correct the issue and she instantly was defensive and combative, repeatedly blaming the difference on sales tax and add-ons. None of the substitutions or added ingredients had extra charge, I checked the app! And yes, our sales tax is expensive, but not 37.5%! She clearly knew she was wrong but insisted on her stance. Evergreens is situated in one of the spots closer to the quieter periphery of U Village. It's not a huge space, but feels pretty open and there was ample seating when I went, as it seems like a lot of people get their salads and wraps to go. They have several really yummy curated salad options, such as the Cobb Your Enthusiasm (a take on a classic cobb salad) and Walk The Flank (a flank steak salad). As you can see, this chain is big into puns. You can also customize your own salad, and they have plenty of options to make your salad exactly what you'd like. I got the Cobb Your Enthusiasm, which is $11 for a large (think a dinner sized salad). Romaine, pickled red onions, gorgonzola, hard boiled egg, chicken, avocado, and bacon crumbles were tossed with a light but tangy dressing and it was really really delicious. I like eating healthy, but only if I can make it taste good, and I was actually wistful when this salad was over. All their other options seemed really tasty as well, and I really want to try the Walk the Flank and the greek salad. I have only one minor complaint, which are what keep me from taking it to five stars. The first thing is that $11 is a lot for a salad, especially when the bulk of most of the salads is romaine lettuce, not kale or arugula, which would make it seem a bit more justifiable. Being a UW student, I get 10% off regularly, but I don't know if I'd want to be paying 9-12 dollars for a romaine-based salad. That being said, the large size is pretty hefty and managed to satisfy even this large appetite. Other than that, though, evergreens is pretty great and I can definitely see myself going back when I'm craving a yummy salad. I went back in August and they don't have that salad or that salad or dressing. And there's nothing else I want from there. I've been frequenting this place quite often this summer and I have to increase my rating. Here is why: 1. Service is fast. 2. Ingredients are fresh. 3. Portions are generous. 4. I've tried The Super Bowl and The Sombrero and both are delicious. 5. Delivery preparation is great. They don't mix in the dressing or chop it which keeps it fresh. 6. The prices are reasonable. Some people have complained that the prices are too high. Have you eaten out in Seattle? If you order a $9 salad at most restaurants you get a side salad portion. If you don't get the salad chopped at Evergreens Salad you can actually see how much salad you get - and it's a generous portion. read more

I love evergeens so much and I'd definitely say I come in frequently enough to remember the employees faces! Everyone is always so good at making the salads taste just right and delicious. However, today they had new people making salads it was easy to tell they were brand new. If there are new people, please have the experienced employees help the new ones out :( everyone always does a great job of putting a lot of salad in the bowl which is the whole point of going to a salad bar joint, but the new person barely put any salad in my bowl. He also did not ask if I wanted all the toppings, or really ask about any of the extra finishes etc. So just please have the experienced workers watch the new ones until they're comfortable making the salads how they should be made, especially if there is 0 line in the shop! read more

Great quality salads and ingredients. I love building my own salad and my favorite dressing is the lemon vini. Good COVID precautions put into the restaurant, but I would still recommend ordering online and doing pickup just because it's so easy! I just ate lunch at Evergreens in Fremont. I'm on a special diet for the first time in my life, it's called the Whole 30. There's some foods and ingredients I can't eat. So, I have to ask questions from workers at restaurants and salad bars about what's in certain ingredients and dressings. I'm writing this review because Kim seen me looking through a menu and went out of her way to help me. FURTHERMORE, when I asked about what went into the salami, she checked the ingredient book to see whether I could eat it or not. When she needed more information, she went out back and showed me the label from the salami package. Unfortunately, it had some sugar added to it, but that's not the point. The point is---great, pre-emptive customer service towards a customer who currently has to be picky about what they eat. Tasty food, great job by Kim. I'm definitely coming back here during my diet for more salads, and maybe even when my diet is over! I rarely write Yelp reviews unless something jumps out at me, and Kim's customer service did! So many types of salad! I've been here a few times now and like getting a nice salad with a variety of vegetables, dressings, and meats. They have seasonal salads so the menu changes with a handful of different salads every few months. The last one I tried had tuna and a little bit of a kick to it. I did medium amount of dressing and it was too much for me so I'll have to do light dressing next time. This place is always busy when I come. I wish they had regular bowls and utensils if you know you are eating in. I very much appreciate compostable bowls and forks but people often finish their salad in the store. After growing up in LA, I live for restaurants like Evergreens: Sweet Greens, Tender Greens, Urban Plates... Yes, you can save money and head to TJ's to make these salads at home but can you make their fresh dressings? No, unless you are okay with consuming preservatives from the grocery store ones. Pros - Customizable; great selection of signature salads/grain bowls - Great dressings!! Spicy Caesar and the Ginger Sesame were really tasty. Cons - Decent selection of toppings. Please chop the red bell peppers into bite sized... I got 2"x3" slices of them. - CONTAMINATION. I'm very sensitive to dairy and somehow two pieces of some *rogue* blue cheese made it to my customized non-dairy salad =(... Blue cheese has a very distinct taste so of course I knew it's was cheese =( Stomach was in pain for a few days. This is pretty much unacceptable for customers who have food allergies. Because of this, I had to bump it down to 3 stars. It honestly felt like the workers at that time (Tuesday night prime dinner time) were sloppy and tired from a long shift. - No additional toppings (ie. Furukake/nori, wontons, tortilla chips -- this is based on what Sweet Greens gives) EDIT: I've noticed that other reviewers have complained about contamination! I hope they go through re-training because I would really like to return but if they continue with their sloppiness, then they're going to lose a lot of customers who have dietary needs-- and we're a market who's willing to spend $$$ on these restaurants. *hint* read more

What makes Evergreens different is it's essentially a salad bar-style restaurant but I love how they mix and chop everything together after choosing all your ingredients so every bite is consistent. I don't really understand the low rating that Evergreens has.. I was looking for a quick, healthy, affordable lunch and this fit the bill. I paid $9+tax/tip for a heaping bowl of goodness, which came with a piece of Macrina focaccia bread. I was expecting that everything would be scooped into the bowl a la Chipotle, but they actually toss all your ingredients in a bigger bowl so you're not just paying for the "space" of the greens in the bowl. No extra charge for quinoa or brown rice added to the bowl, no charge for extra veggie toppings. I would have easily paid more for a salad that size at any sit down place. Will be coming back if I'm ever in a pinch for lunch! read more

It's official. I am never returning to Evergreens. I understand that coming in at 6:30pm is near closing for the employees on shift here but that is no excuse for inconsistency and carelessness. I ordered the spicy kale caesar and added avocado and chicken which significantly increases the price on a salad here. I have made a point to closely watch the employees while they make the salads because of past experiences, but tonight, the gentleman making my salad turned around while chopping and dressing the salad. Upon checkout, I discover that I have a significantly less amount of salad than my friend (who ordered the exact same thing) and that my salad is actually mayonnaise soup. The amount of dressing that was put on my salad made it inedible at the end. Paying $13 for a salad is heinous in itself and to get something so disgusting in return is inexplicable. Evergreens cannot seem to change their inconsistent and careless ways so I will not be a returning customer. read more
