Our Version of a Ruben sandwich with turkey pastrami
    Channing C.

A+ independent sandwich shop. I came here while browsing at the farmers market. I walked by and could smell the beautiful aroma coming from inside. Another customer saw me checking out the menu and told me about the Rajun Cajun. It looked good, but I didn't want spicy food that day. I'm a Ruben girl, so when I saw their version of a Ruben I knew I had to try. Turkey pastrami was quite intriguing. Service was just ok, but that could be because they were busy. Sandwiches were coming out like clockwork, but due to the crowd I waited about 20 mins for mines, not too bad. The sandwich was amazing and huge. I was able to share it with my family as I could not eat the whole thing alone. The sandwiches here are well made with quality ingredients. You won't complain about the price when you see how much you get and how good it is. I love the funky vibe of this place and staff there look real chill people. You won't want Subway, Jimmy Johns, or Jersey Mikes after eating at this place. You will be spoiled, plus it's always better to support small local businesses, especially when they are this good. Please give this place a try.

Rajun Cajun is a must! There's a reason it's started on the menu! Very flavorful and the bread was soft and with the right amount of crisp. They were very friendly and I also got some bread ends. I liked the outdoor seating area on a nice fall day. I'm very excited to come back and try their other sandwiches. I feel this will be another favorite in Ballard.

Oh yes! We were in Ballard at noon, walking around looking for a sandwich. The BBQ aroma drifted by. Searching for the source, we discovered Other Coast Cafe, takeout and minimal seating shop. OMG! Delicious. Ordered two and rated their Rueben the better of the two. Incredible! Enjoy!

Got the Rajan Cajun hot sandwich. It's definitely worth the wait and would recommend calling ahead especially on the weekends. The turkey pairs well with the red onion and spicy salsa mayo. $16ish is a bit steep but the sandwich is filling. Limited seating and a bit cramped with people standing and sitting around. Street parking is available but may get tricky.

Placed an order for pickup on my way home from work. I ordered the Rajun Cajun sandwich and the Detonator sandwich. The Rajun Cajun sandwich was my favorite, had a good spice to it. The Detonator is basically a spicier version of the Rajun Cajun sandwich but it was too spicy for me. Overall great hot sandwiches, would definitely eat here again.

Cute little hole in the wall in Ballard. Came here for lunch, and ordered the half hot sandwich and a chop salad - the total came to $24 with tip which seemed reasonable for food prices nowadays. There's limited seating inside, and a decent amount of seats outside that are covered. The place was pretty busy at 1 PM so it took about 20 minutes to get our food. I will be back to try other items on their menu.

Rajun Cajun is elite! They pack in the meat and the spicy salsa mayo is delicious. The bread is perfectly crispy, fresh, yet soft. Overall great place to get a delicious sandwich!

Tasty Sammy - Pricy Sammy - Worth it Sammy Was scrolling through social media when this joint popped up on advertisement, I'm a sucker for a good sandwich and I was NOT disappointed. Came on a Tuesday for lunch, only had a ten minute wait. I ordered the rajun cajun and am stoked to try the "it's our version of a Reuben" next time. Overall a pretty tasty sammy, the meat was good quality, the toasted baguette was the perfect texture, and there was just the right amount of veggies. The rajun cajun wasn't horridly spicy, but those weary of spice I don't think this is a sammy for you. My only complaint is that it's not the place to dine in when busy, unless you can snag a seat and $15.00 for a sandwich only with no sides included. Heard it gets busy on weekends, Ballard doesn't offer a lot of parking so maybe order ahead or plan accordingly. Worth a try! Is it Seattle best sandwich? No, but does it put up a good fight? Sure does

My brothers rave about the Rajun Cajun sandwich and I finally tried it on my latest trip. We went during their happy hour which is where the Rajun sandwich is half off but only between 3-3:30 for in person orders. My boyfriend went ahead while I parked and we made it right as he ordered because you have to be present as it's only 1 per person. The sandwich was good but a bit spicy for me. I would come back and try another sandwich. But my brothers and boyfriend really like it.

Came here from a TikTok Rec Sandwiches take about 25-30mins per order after you order. They're fairly small for $20ish dollars. I liked the option to buy a whole pickle. The electric wizard was tasty but the sauce made it kinda hard to eat. We actually ended up taking our sandwiches to a nearby coffee shop because there's very limited seating in the actual shop. I almost ordered a 14". I guess it typically comes on 7" of bread... which is fairly small if you think bout it. I saw the price jump to like $27 if I had done the 14" and I'm kinda glad I just had the 7". Maybe I'll have to try a cold sandwich next time but overall it was tasty, until it was too soggy.

Small walk in and order type of place. There are limited seating indoor and also has a more spread out area outside on the street. I ordered the ragun Cajun sandwich. It's a 6 inch sandwich that's on a toasted baguette bread that's nice and crunchy but was burnt on the bottom so that wasn't appealing. The filling consists of Cajun seasoned turkey, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, grilled onions, and their spicy salsa mayo. The Cajun seasoning was lacking and has no flavor. The also y salsa mayo was more oily and mayo heavy with no flavor that jumps out to enhance the sandwich Overall, their best sandwich was lacking a lot of flavor and for their pricing... it's not a sandwich I would order or recommend others to order.

My husband and I were leaving the National Nordic Museum and wanted to grab some food to take home…read moreso we decided to order online at Mean Sandwich. My order was ready at the time that was specified (also received a text when it was done) and according to what I read, they keep your food on a warmer while they wait for you to pick it up. How nice! $20 for a sandwich seems pricey, but let me tell you, they definitely make a MEAN sandwich! The Mean - THICK pieces of juicy corned beef with housemade mustard, pickled red cabbage and mint. The cross section of the sandwich looks insane! The combination of flavors is excellent. The Hama Hama Oyster Po'Boy - Deep-fried Hama Hama yysters with housemade remoulade and lemon-pepper mayo. I loved this. The oysteres were nicely fried with not too much batter. You could really taste the oyster and appreciate the texture. The French roll was also very nice. It was similar to a Vietnamese Banh Mi roll. Soft, but with a light crispness on the outside. Fully Loaded Skins & Ins - Skins & Ins are basically a mixture of fried potato skins and potato chunks so you get a variety of texture: thin and crispy, or soft and meaty. The fully loaded option adds toppings similar to that of a loaded baked potato (white sauce, spices, scallions, and super crunchy bacon bits). This was a nice change from having the usual chips or fries with a sandwich. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge in this area, but if you're able to make it over then I think it's worth visiting.

This small shop in Ballard is somewhere you likely wouldn't stumble upon, but it is definitely worth seeking out. The shop itself is fairly small with a few booths, some window seating, and a few tables. We ordered our food to go, but there were a few spots open so we could have dined in had we preferred. The owner of the shop was there and help share about the menu. You can tell he is passionate about his restaurant and he answered all our questions. We even got to talking to him about some of his books he has in the shop that are different sandwich books and he was so knowledgeable on them, the chefs and more. We tried 3 different sandwiches - the steak tartar, the mean (corned beef) and the wtk (fried chicken). All three were a wonderful combinations of ingredients you would not see on an average sandwich shop menu and all three were delightful. In addition to the sandwiches, they come with potatoes which were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside (aka. cooked to perfection.) We upgraded one of our potatoes to the loaded version and to no surprise it was also amazing. It runs on the slightly more expensive side for sandwiches, but for the quantity and quality you get it is worth it!

this sandwich was highly impressive as the main part of the…read moresandwich, it was pretty necessary that the pork be cooked to near-perfection, and i have to say it was here it gave off a deep, brown-ish color, which showed the extent of it's cooking and marination. It wasn't quite incredibly tender, but the marinade added an absolute ton of flavor. more importantly, it was present plentifully throughout the sandwich, so practically every bite came filled with pork I also have to mention how packed together the ingredients are between the buns. when you start eating, it's inevitable that a quarter of the ingredients will fall onto the wrap below, leaving a nice secondary meal to finish off after the sandwich is done. the sandwich is packed incredibly tight during the wrapping process, but it unravels a bit while eating. for me, the major highlights of this meal was the onions and the aioli Starting with the onions, these may be the best I've ever had on a sandwich. They're caramelized amazingly, placed onto the sandwich in astoundingly large pieces, are crunchy, and there's just a lot of them. They're just wonderful both texturally and taste-wise. This sandwich is absolutely lathered with aioli - practically dripping with it. This boosted the overall flavor so much, especially because this aioli was addictingly good. In my experience, the amount of sauce has been directly proportional to how much I enjoyed a sandwich, and when the sauce is this good - it's even on the top of the bun! - i absolutely loved it Somehow the lettuce stayed crunchy despite all the otherwise wetness going on in the sandwich. Props for that The jalapenos were great as well for that extra bit of spicy - I would've loved to have more of them while the bread was toasted well, the one downside was i thought it was pretty hard and tough, which made chewing kind of difficult. I found my jaw to be pretty tired at the end after eating this. I would've much preferred a softer roll that's easier to bite into I've had similar sandwiches from Paseo and Bongos, and in my opinion this does edge out both of those Comparing to Paseo, the sandwich there has way more oil, making it more sloppy and I do like the bread there a lot better, but the pork feels richer and better marinated here (although less fatty), and the onions are definitely caramelized better here as well. Bongos has a pretty similar level of pork with more, but onions are definitely a step down What moves this place above those two for me is the amount of aioli used here far exceeds those other places, which just makes the overall eating experience better For the price (about 14 dollars) this is a really filling meal

While other Serious Pie locations tend to be semi-upscale-yet-casual pizza joints, this spot felt more like an afterthought with its small, dark space and decidedly hole-in-the-wall vibe. The good news is, the pizza was still delish, as it always is at Serious Pie. We enjoyed the sweet sausage pizza that has become a fave over the years, along with a couple of beers which were served in plastic pint "glasses". Okay, I'm sure this makes me sound like a beer snob, but plastic?! Good beer just doesn't taste good in plastic. (Unless you're at a frat party?) Our server (who, by the way, was excellent) later told us he'd accidentally used the wrong glasses for the beer; so apparently it's something they're fixing. Yay! It was also darn cold inside. We had to keep our coats on the entire time. A door between the restaurant area and the semi-open entrance to what appears to be their central storage area would most likely help. Again, this all probably seems a bit petty. I'll own that. But as someone who loves Tom Douglas and his restaurants, and has had great experiences at other Serious Pie locations, this one was a disappointment. Especially since they're charging the same (some might say elevated) prices as they do at the other locations. Maybe if they called it something else, to differentiate it? Serious Pie Lite? Semi-Serious Pie? I dunno, but I expected just a little bit better from this iconic local brand.

The combination of toppings with the mortadella worked well within their homemade bread (which I thought was the best part for sure). The Gran Sasso - my girlfriend said it was "OK", mostly due to the huge chunks of artichoke hearts (with stems) that were not her favorite.
