I needed to remodel our 1950's single family house that was seriously outdated. It can be very difficult to find a reliable contractor to do a major remodeling within a budget and complete the job in a reasonable time. The remodeling involved installing new windows, adding an HVAC system (my old house had none), installing insulation in the attic, replacing the conventional water heater with a tankless water heater, adding a new back exterior door with a window that opens and a security screen door, electrical rewiring throughout the house, widening doorway openings, remodeling both the kitchen and bathrooms, installing a new vanity and a walk-in tub, adding a closet in the hallway to replace the old shower, installing hardwood floors, installing ceiling lights, painting the interior, and other work. Our roof started to leak 2 weeks ago. We called Everlast to come and give us a quote to get it fixed. Over the phone Erik was very nice and was able to send someone out the same day. Ron showed up got up on the roof and diagnosed our leaky roof. He gave us a fair price with 10% discount since he is working on 3 other projects in our neighborhood. The day after we signed the contract Ron showed up at our house at 7am with his crew of 6 guys I was so impressed. They got straight to work and our brand new roof was all done 2 days later. Had my tiles redone. I had old floors in my bedroom and wanted to change it for something more efficient to clean and since this bedroom so hot inside all the time, even AC doesn't do much, I decided to go with tiles and carpet on top. We made an appointment for this Monday just to make an estimate, but when builders realized the amount of job, they could start right away. We went online to choose the tiles I want and guys left to buy it. They left for couple hours, and I though they would start next day but I got a call from them saying they could start right away. I accepted. Work didn't take long, two guys were working as fast as a team of 5. And whole floor was done in something like couple days. But they told me to make it rest for couple days. There are many contractors out there but it is hard to find one who is as trustworthy and reliable as Ari. I was searching for someone who can take over a partially remodeled guest bathroom and a partial remodel of a master bath. Any issues or problems you have he will make it right or try to find ways to make it right. For example, after the old shower demo our house alarm stopped functioning. Instead of advising me to call the alarm company to send out a tech, Ari sent his foreman to help me find the problem. After looking for about 15 min he found out that the plug to the main alarm box became loose and got unplugged due the tremor from demo-ing the shower tiles. We spoke for 21 minutes and he was apologetic for their inability to provide me with a bid. To be clear Everlast Home Builders never did any work for me, this review is only related to my attempt to obtain a bid from them. Based on our telephone conversation I will contact them in the future to bid on upcoming projects and I appreciated hearing from the CEO. I have changed the rating of this review from 1 star to 2 stars. (See review!below.) After having researched and read the reviews regarding Everlast Home Builders I was very interested to receive a bid from them to re-roof our home. I began emailing with Mr. Ari Malka, the CEO on 09/18/2019. On 09/20/2019 "Asi" and "Luis" came to my home, looked around, got on the roof and indicated they would provide a bid within a few days. That same day I again communicated with CEO Ari Malka via email who wrote they ("Asi" and "Luis") "...would start working on your proposal immediately," and told me "You should have it by Monday afternoon" (09/23/2019). On 10/07/2019 I emailed CEO Ari Malka and explained I had not yet received their bid, he responded on 10/08/2019 that he (and "Asi") were both out of the office and said "I will send you a detailed estimate on Thursday when I'm back at the office." Thursday was 10/10/2019. Business is over for today, 10/21/2019...and I have not received any bid from Everlast Home Builders. My time spent both communicating with them and setting aside time to meet with them at my home was time not well spent. If anyone is interested in garage conversion I would highly suggest Everlast Home Builders. Ari, our project manager, took care of everything from the very beginning, such as architectural plans, working with the city on getting the permits , and managing the crews to finish the project within 3 months. We had an interesting project because of the way our garage was built, they had to completely redo the foundation. This was not something we were expecting, but we're glad we were working with Everlast. Ari really knows what he is doing! We transformed our garage into an extra living space. I have gotten dozens of compliments on it from neighbors, friends and family and it has been a complete game changer to have a separate work from home space. Called 5 or 7 companies for a simple kitchen remodeling, but since it is a really small job nobody could estimate me with a fair price and furthermore nobody would even accept the job that small. I got a quote from Everlast Home Builders 20 minutes after I request it. After we decided the type of repairs I need they send me rendered pictures and some recommendations which could add a little to my price but I really liked it so I gave them a chance. Ari installed a Trane air conditioner for us last year, which was a great deal and excellent choice for us. I reviewed that job last year. I am writing again to acknowledge something else that meant a great deal. During the recent extreme heat (113 in our area) my daughter called in distress. It was Saturday evening and their ac stopped, placing her and her husband and four kids in a tough spot. She asked for my help and I called Ari, thinking he would not answer and I would leave a message. Everlast Home Builders allegedly requires both homeowners to be present during the consultation, which I feel is a sexist policy. As a woman who called to make the original consultation, I felt that my opinions did not matter and I would only be taken seriously once they could speak to my husband. We finagled our schedules around so we could both take off work for an 11:00-11:30 AM consultation later in the week. No other contractor that we've worked with now or in the past has ever required us to both be present. Just this morning, one hour before our scheduled meeting, they called me to change the consultation from 11:00 to 11:30. Well, my husband had a meeting at 12 PM so he wouldn't be able to attend their last-minute altered meeting time. I asked if they would be willing to meet with just me, as I am a perfectly capable human being who's opinions matter just as much as her husband's, and I stressed that my husband and I were very aligned on this home project. The man on the phone said he would ask. Ten minutes later, I got a call back and they declined to offer us service. They would not provide me a quote without my husband present.
