We discovered a small leak in our laundry room ceiling during the November 2025 storm. We contacted Vic at Built Well along with a few other contractors to give us an estimate and Vic was the first to respond. We experienced a water leak in the guest bathroom, resulting in extreme black mold. The extent of the mold required the bathroom be taken out completely and rebuilt-remodeled. Vic Tahkmazyan quarterbacked the entire process, from mold/lead/asbestos testing, mold removal, to the entire rebuild-remodel. We told Vic what tub, sinks, fixtures, etc. we wanted, and he obtained everything and supervised installations. He was courteous, respectful of us and our home, kept us apprised of the progress, and was always pleasant to deal with. This was true of all the subcontractors (painters, tile workers, etc.). Vic was on the job until the last door stop was installed. He even recommended a countertop that saved us money over the material we had already chosen. I honestly can't think of anything negative. We had noticed potential water intrusion into a wall that shared its exterior with an alleyway. There was no visible ceiling damage and not a whole lot around the windows. No visible cracking of the stucco on the exterior wall. So I decided it was time to call a mold remediation and water mitigation team. Vic was super responsive and worked around my schedule as we were to leave for a 10 day vacation. He was patient with all my questions about insurance and whether or not it was better to open the wall and leave or deal with it when we got back. Eventually we went thru insurance due to the unknown nature of how much damage (and therefore cost) there would be. Insurance was probably the worst headache of this whole thing but Vic was supportive and helped whenever he could. As we were figuring out what might be the problem I also noticed another area of the house that might have similar water damage. After Vic confirmed and insurance was on board we ripped open the walls and found very little mold in the bedroom (original location) and more in the other, later location. We eventually got thru insurance for the water mitigation and mold remediation so that we could repair everything... but of course, a hurricane decided to stop by and we were able to find the actual source of the problem in the second location before we closed everything back up. In the end a lot of it had to do with a combination of the original home's first stucco layer and underlying waterproof barrier (non existent), blown insulation creating a virtual cardboard wall inside soaking up all moisture and retaining it, and in the second location a very weak point where the new stucco wall met the old stucco wall and not properly joining the two (there also happened to be a brick wall that needed some super caulking/sealant). After all that work it is funny to think that everything just looks like how it did before. But that's why Vic and his team are great at what they do. Thanks guys read more

Thank god we found this business! During that terrible rain storm we recently had, I came home from yoga to find a little waterfall in my stairway. Two days later Vic was at my home to see what he could do. He immediately set up dehumidifiers and blowers to try and mitigate the damages and booked a roofer to come by on the next dry day. Now I know he had to have been swamped considering I wasn't even able to get a hold of my insurance company because they were inundated with claims in California from all of the storms. However, he squeezed me in and I am so happy he did. Going into this I was super nervous. In late 2022 I had a pipe burst in my upstairs bathroom and it created a lot of damage. The company that I had contracted to fix the damage (Mega Construction) did an awful job. What should have been relatively quick project ended up taking almost 5 months. I was regularly left in tears by the terrible work. Fast forward to this leak and it was completely different. I wish I would have found Vic during my last catastrophe. BW came in (referred by a friend they did a lot of work for) and diagnosed the problem (old doors and windows), and proposed and explained the renovations necessary to fix it and update the home along the way. BW was flexible scaling back the scope of the work to fit my budget while keeping the quality of the work top tier. They handled special ordering of custom windows and doors, and their delivery. The whole process of prepping the house for their installation was new to me and frankly bewildering, but they handled it with care; nothing was needed on my part. All work was done very conscientiously, and every change or unexpected cost was explained thoroughly. There was never a sense of being upsold, pressured, hustled or BS'd. Ultimately it turned out perfect. They are not cheap but I think you hire them when you care about the work being done and aren't trying to cut corners. read more

Vic and his crew have been great. We used them earlier this year for some major repair of water damage in our home. His team was always there when they said they would be there, they were tidy, professional and did great work. They replaced insulation, wallboard, and hardwood flooring. They also painted walls and trim. We were very happy with everything they did. We just used them again for a small project moving the threshold of a bathroom so that it is directly under the bathroom door (as it should have been originally). The project involved cutting away a couple inches of marble tile and replacing with hardwood flooring. Everything matched beautifully. The new piece of flooring was pre-finished to match existing flooring and the transition from hardwood to marble tile looks great. We wanted to have our garage insulated and drywalled with the beams exposed. We got around 5 estimates for the work and Built Well came in around the middle as far as cost and our experience with Vic is what made us feel comfortable going with this company as it seemed like they would get the work most effectively in a very short crunch time we had to move in. I had tree roots clog up my main sewer line causing a back up which caused water to leak from the ceiling of my garage. I had another person come out to do a mitigation estimate but he was a bit "odd" and unprofessional. I am glad I gave Built Well a call. Vic was able to come out quickly and give me a very detailed estimate. He was very thorough and found that I also had water leaking underneath the toilet/subfloor of my powder room. He started the mitigation work then the construction work to repair the ceiling in my garage and the floor and walls of my bathroom. The plumbers had to go through walls to remove my faulty pipes (due to bad construction). Unfortunately my home owners insurance company (which I will be switching) was unresponsive and very slow to work my claim.
