Home Renew remodeled my two bathrooms. In the end, upper management gave me a discount for the…read morenumerous frustrations I experienced throughout the project. These were some of them: 1. As the contract was being finalized, several items hadn't been updated to reflect the current scope of work. I highlighted said items, along with the notation, "Looks great. Once these items are updated, I'm ready to sign." The project manager immediately texted back, "I feel like a school child and that you're correcting me." 2. I had it written into the contract no work past 5:00pm. On two days within the first week, the project manager authorized his worker to stay past the agreed-upon time, without first running it by me. When I brought it to his attention, he texted, "That's great! We're trying to get ready for inspection asap!". When it turned out to be an ongoing issue and I again called him out on it, he texted me a screenshot of a thank you card an appreciative former customer gave him. 3. I also had it written into the contract no dumping of dirty drywall or paint water down the storm drain in front of my house (which is illegal anyway). One of the workers is on Ring doorbell video pouring the water down the storm drain in front of the house, in front of a painted sign on the curb of dolphins that says "No Dumping". This left two large white marks on the street for several days before they cleaned it. 4. They forgot to install a corner shower bench in one of the showers. When I brought it to the project manager's attention, he sheepishly grinned and said, "How did that happen? Well, obviously, we won't charge you for it." While they offered to install a shower seat after the fact, I didn't want to deal with the project manager's gaslighting any longer than necessary. 5. They were supposed to remove an old grab bar, towel bar, and toilet roll holder, but said that they first had to check to see if was on the scope of work. A few weeks passed, and the project manager didn't get back to me to say that they were going to do it. I didn't want to continue chasing answers, and hired a handyman to do the work. The next time the project manager was there, he said his own worker had done it and seemed surprised when I told him that my handyman had done it. 6. First final inspection failed due to lack of a GFI outlet and vacancy sensor. The city inspector commented in passing, "And you might want to also make sure all your smoke detectors are up, so next time I don't need to go around the house." I was there when he said this (the project manager wasn't) and the conversation was recorded on indoor Ring camera. When the project manager showed up a few hours later, I said, "Looks like we didn't pass inspection." He shot back, "Well yeah, because you didn't have your smoke detectors up!". There were innumerable other incidents such as this, where the project manager gaslit me on the regular. So perplexing and annoying. 7. After the wall tile behind the toilet was installed, only 9 inches remained between the wall and the center of the flange (not enough space to properly install a 12-inch or even 10-inch rough-in toilet). They were aware of this but were not transparent about it, and did not inform me that they had trouble installing a toilet. Since the toilet I'd ordered had a long lead time, they installed a temporary toilet to pass inspection. The temporary toilet was then removed, and the bolts were transferred from the notches the installer had created, to their proper locations, closer to the wall, leaving space now for only a 9-inch rough-in toilet. I'd been happy to end the project without them installing my own toilet once it arrived (even though toilet installation was included in the scope of work), due to numerous prior issues and negativity from the project manager. However...following completion of the project, my special order toilet was delivered, which my longtime plumber tried to install. He noticed that Home Renew had deliberately created two notches (one on the left, and one on the right, see photos). The bolts had been relocated from their proper positions into said notches, so that the toilet could sit further away (10 inches) from the wall. My plumber said this gerry-rigging provided a quick-fix intended to fool the inspector, but would not have been a sustainable long-term solution, and would have resulted in major complications such as leaks. Home Renew failed to inform me of this issue and left me to discover it on my own. They have offered to do the repair under warranty, but based on their deliberate poor workmanship and and blatant lack of transparency, I don't trust them to properly complete the repair.

They stand behind their products and honor the warranty but like every other manufacturer in any business they are not perfect every time. if I ever have an issue, I reach out to them and they will get the process started. Their delivery drivers, Saul and Willie are courteous and hard working as well. I have read a couple of their reviews which in my opinion is unfair to compare them to Andersen because Andersen charges 4 times the price for their products. Overall, good people to do business with, and I do agree that there is definitely room for improvements to be made on all levels. I would had to pay a lot more for Milgard or other name brands. Crystal Pacific Windows is the West Coast division of Crystal Windows in Flushings, NY, which has been in business for over 30 years. So they aren't a fly-by-night company. And they have the warranty to stand behind their work. I did my homework. I chose Crystal Pacific for their commercial lines of vinyl storefont windows for my motel lobby and all 11 rooms facing the street. The quality of the windows exceeded my expectations. The guest rooms facing the street used to the last ones to sell because of the street noise. Fire trucks and ambulances would race towards Providence St. John's Hospital. These dual-glazed, energy-efficient windows cut the noise level by 80%. I also swapped out the old-fashion, wall-sleeve PTAC air conditioning units that also transmitted sound. Now, our worst rooms are amazing quiet and comfortable. And they look great from the street too. Here's our facade renovation poster about our facade renovation. We are almost done. During the renovation and installation by our general contractor, we noticed that one of the windows had a crack. My GC said it was due to stacking too many windows against the wall. Regardless of who or what caused the crack, Crystal Pacific's Service Team IMMEDIATELY came onsite, inspected the cracked window, measured it, and replaced it within a week or two! While we really like the quality of the windows and door so far, when I went to claim the federal 30% energy tax deduction for them on my 2025 income tax, Premium could NOT provide the "QMID certification" that their products meet federal energy saving standards required to get that tax credit. Apparently, the firm did not apply for this certification (it's a "QMID number") that one must put on their tax return when claiming the 30% credit. So we are out $850.00 (actual dollars) off our 2025 taxes. You would think that a company selling a product that was eligible for a hefty tax credit would make sure that they could provide proper certification for the customer to claim that credit, would't you? I mean, come on...Nice windows, but... I give them three stars for the nice windows, but they lose two more because of the lack of tax information.

When I initially received quotes from various companies I decided to go forth with ameriside as…read moretheir pricing seemed best. Unfortunately this was due to miscommunication as they thought I only wanted to replace 75% of the curb facing siding... not sure why anyone would do that but okay miscommunication happens. Installation: where it was straight shiplap across the front, turned out fine. The window was promised to have a symmetrical thin border across as I was sent photos from the James Hardy website... attached you will see instead it is geometrically cut out to avoid the flashing... could have been made thin and uniform throughout however I was told that it was not possible. Many neighbors have gone through other companies and have the same sized retrofitted window but had the siding all done in the same manner. Mine is the only one that looks like this. Even the installer said "I think it looks cool, we never see it cut like that..." but when it comes to housing clean cut and uniform works for us. I was told later, this couldn't have been known before hand until the old siding and window edges were taken down. However the installer knew it from day 1 and said so to me. I believe that whoever the sales rep is should always be forthcoming with the possibilities of outcomes and what it may look like vs showing examples from the company website yet delivering something else. When I went up on the roof to paint the fresh wood I found multiple spots that were not caulked properly or nailed down. (See attached photos). These were fixed later when they came out to install and fix the remaining portion of siding that I had to pay for as well that I thought was included in the original quote. Again pleased with most of it but a major focal point is the front window which did not come out to expectations of what was originally shown.
