The guy who I later learned is Ozzy, said bring the key snd the cylinder, but then I thought to myself, I might as well try to drive the car so he can test it. I'm glad I did because based on what Ozzy was quoting me over the phone was quite less after he ran some tests with keys he made and tested them to the door and ignition. At the end I left with a new key for the ignition, doors, and trunk, as well as a spare that will work the doors and my original key that can still work with the ignition. I hope to not have any future key problems with the cars, but if I do, I won't think twice about going to The Car Key Shop first.

Great service and pretty decent prices too!…read more He was able to re-key the cylinders for the ignition of my '74 Plymouth Duster this way my new ignition cylinder worked with m door keys and I didn't have to fumble around trying to figure out which key was which. One time I had them re-key the locks to my mom's front door. They did a good job with the cylinder, but it seemed that I had some bad keys. When I had issues with some of the keys not working with the locks, I took them back. The kid in the booth was very professional into getting to the bottom of why some of my old keys worked with the re-keyed locks and some didn't. After him tearing the cylinders down and realizing the problem was with the old keys, he made me 5 new keys for free. He explained that the problem was that the keys I had were not made or copied correctly. He took the time to explain that when keys are copied, they need to be set correctly in the machine otherwise the plunge of the key would not hit the backstop on the key (when inserted into the cylinder) and the pins would not line up right allowing for the cylinder to unlock freely. That's awesome service!! Not only did he investigate the problem, but he also explained it too. I should have got the kid's name, but he was a younger guy. Probably in his late teens or early 20's. He knows his locks! Re-keying the Kwikset locks cost about 15 bucks each. I guess that's pretty reasonable.
