My father unfortunately and suddenly had to entire hospice care after a stay at a hospital and I had a few days to decide where he could spend his remaining time since we did not have the ability to care for him at home. Luckily I had searched in advance and by chance it was Mina's home. The hospice agency we were working with also recommend her place. I was able to contact Mina and she was able to accommodate my father on short notice. She was patient, caring and very supportive of our situation. He was housed in a nice quiet room and Mina's staff along with hospice nurse provided fantastic care to make him comfortable. Unfortunately, he was only there for a few days, but he passed away peacefully with our family present and for that we will forever be greatful. It could not have happened without the loving care we received from Mina and her staff. They gave him fresh gown, gave him a shave, and fresh coconut oil cream to make him feel special while he was there too! Thank you again Mina and her staff for all that you did for our family!

An experience that was a nightmare- ongoing power failures for four months - yes - I have the flashlights, the blanket, battery operated mini lamps issued to the residents during this time / apologetic news letters weekly (waiting on parts) for generator. After a formal complaint was made, a Transformer finally arrived on premises. Twice pipes broke in the ceiling of my bathroom, flooding my bath and kitchen area. Rent was raised twice in one year. Covid rapidly spread throughout the building (was hospitalized for 4 days). Ventilation is very bad as they do not routinely change filters in Apts or Common area. When I ask to have it changed (as my Apt floor was showing evidence of black spots) - Maintenance states " only if you need it". I might add this is rental property (saving money). The food is the worst- Vendor is US foods. NO stable management. Lastly, I advise anyone interested in this Community to do your own extensive research on the internet (You will be surprised). The microwave oven never worked in my Apt. Kept tripping the breaker. Reported the problem one month after moving in - never resolved ! Finally approx 4 months upon leaving they said the microwave was too big; but never offered to replace it. I also would like to mention the elevators are often inoperable/they have four floors. I encourage everyone to be extremely cautious before putting your love one in these Communities as it is very costly/ stressful to re- locate .

I like the atmosphere at Carlton and there is a beautiful view of the Cottle Park from his room. The food there is good and there is are several choices offered. They give family members two free meals a month, which is a brilliant way to promote family & friends visiting. My brother seems to enjoy inviting me to join him in meals. I appreciate the staff, many of whom have been working there for several years. However, my brother doesn't request help. Often when l get there his tv isn't functioning and he is sitting in a snarl of his sheets. Pedro in maintenance is very nice and helpful when I visit if l ask. Mary, the evening supervisor was extremely prompt and efficient last when there was a hygiene issue. However I have had a request in for them to replace a doorstop for months, the one he has is broken and has punched a hole in the wall, which later allowed the knob to punch a hole as well. The door hinge is out of adjustment, causing the door to slam loudly. These things that take a little bit more work are just not getting done. Transportation to medical appointments is efficient and timely. I wish I could say the same for things he would like to attend like a luncheon out.

The staff is friendly and attentive. It is a facility with 6 clients only which makes for a "family " type setting, it is far superior to the big many client based facilities. My mother has lived at HMC since November 2008. Her care has been excellent. My mom says, "The…read moreplace is wonderful and the workers are nice." My mom enjoys socializing and talking with the other visitors and the other residents that live there. She feels safe at HMC. My mom has mild dementia, but she needs 24-hour care. I moved her from another facility that promised the world but did not deliver. I like the caregivers at HMC they have been very kind. They work hard to provide good care for my mom. They also make sure that she is given her medications. I know it is difficult to see a loved one declining. It is reassuring to know that mom is at HMC. My mom's health has improved since she has lived at HMC. I see my mom frequently; today I am taking her out to lunch. I don't know why, but this facility is no longer in operation. It was a good place for my mom. It closed about a year after my mom died in 2012. . I would recommend that you try to find other board and care facility, they are less expensive then the big retirement facilities and usually offer more individual care. Good luck on finding a place for a loved one.

We looked around for a senior living center and found the Atria in the Evergreen area of San Jose. My mom is Japanese,95 years old , very independent and very set in her ways. We had toured a couple other facilities and felt that the Atria was a great fit for my mom. The facility is near us , very well kept, and has a group of Japanese seniors living there that my mom really likes. The staff is excellent , knows my mom by name and takes very good care of her. The initial staff that we met JR, Jen, Rachelle, and Shay are exceptional. They've bent over backwards to make my wife and I and my mom feel welcome and assured us that she will be taken care of. I would recommend the Atria to my family as well as my friends.
