After waiting a considerable amount of time he Greeted us by hurriedly saying, "I'm busy with this these other tables, I'll be back to tell you the specials." No greeting, name, "hello". Just rushed off. We waited and waited and waited. When he finally came over we ordered drinks. He never came back with my martini, only water and my husband's beverage. Finally when he came to take our order my husband told him that I was still waiting for my cocktail. He rushed off to get it. Took our order. Delivered it. Never saw him again. Never came back to see if we needed anything or if our orders were correct. Mine wasn't! I had to get up THREE TIMES and ask the hostess if they could send our waiter over. The nice hostess offered to get the missing item from my order. Then to get our check. Then to get to go boxes. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! The waiter tossed the check on our table without a word and left. No apology for the awfully rude and neglectful service...nothing. Did I leave a tip? What do you think? After leaving my husband and I considered going back and tipping the kind Hostess that took care of our table; since she was doing all the work. We always tip 25%. We're going to go back and tip her.

We tucked into a cozy booth and started with the spicy shrimp appetizer. It was flavorful and the shrimp were meaty. Just a little kick so not too spicy. It was served on a bed of slaw and while that was unexpected it worked very well. I had the Montego chicken with steamed broccoli and house salad. The chicken was a tad dry but the sauce turned that around. It was good and well portioned. Sometimes the best way to judge a place is how well they do simple. SK's does it well. My broccoli was steamed perfectly and seasoned well. The salad was really good as well. Simple but served on a chilled late with honey mustard dressing that was delicious. My wife has the crab cakes and they were good as well. They were generous with the lump crab and the cake was flash fried for a perfect crunch. Served with a peppered mustard sauce they were delightful. Luna was our server and she was outstanding. I never had to think about a refill and her suggestions were spot on. She set the standard! The previous owners recently sold the establishment and I went back for the first time since then this week. The location is kinda in the middle of nowhere. It appears to be an old gas station that has been repurposed. To me, it screams South Carolina and I like that. The difference between the two dining experiences eye opening and I don't mean that in a good way, I am sorry to say. As soon as we began to put butter on our potato, the three of us realized it was not cooked all the way through. My fork would barely make a dent. I was already worried because that should have been the easiest part of the meal to get right and to check before it was brought out. The server was apologetic and said he would have the cook pop three new potatoes in the oven. Which is fine and we appreciated that, but now we had steak on our plate and no potato. So I started in on the steak. Last time the steak was very tender. Not so much this time. It was tough to cut. The seasoning was not as good this time as last. I don't know if the seasoning was different this time or if it was just not seasoned as much, but it was noticeable. The new potato when it came out was cooked fine, but the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth, to use a bad pun. I liked the tea. Being from the south, I ordered it sweetened and it came just as I prefer, sweet, but not thick and syrupy like some places serve it. I am open to going back and if I do, I will update this review. People are allowed to have bad days. It may be a learning experience for the new owners. I am pulling for them as I prefer locally-owned places with character than cookie cutter national chains where every location looks the same. I hope to try their breakfast for the first time at some point.
