I initially chose this office because of Dr. Joseph Solinger in Orangeburg, SC. He provided…read moreexcellent quality care to his patients, specializing in implants, gold fillings, dentures, and overall patient care. However, he has since relocated his practice. Unfortunately, certain aspects of staff rapport and patient care at this office have raised concerns for me, leading me to seek a new, safer practice. There has been a three-week delay in rescheduling an appointment from my visit in January, due to issues with billing and the front desk. I have never encountered such an experience before. On the day of my appointment, a billing error occurred. When the manager, Yaya, spoke with me, she explained the situation, outlined how to resolve it, and then escorted me out of the office. When I later gave a call, Yaya was more patronizing than helpful. She seemed upset about the situation and used dismissive statements such as, "You don't understand" and "It's in black and white." We are all human, part of the same generation, and I believed I was a valued patient and customer. When I asked to speak to another person, the manager hung up the phone. I have been unable to contact a regional manager or doctor to address these concerns. No one will communicate in the right way at the right time. The front desk will leave yaya's messages "she's in a meeting". Not address

I visited other dentists and implant specialists but was never impressed with their services. The big score came when I was referred to Dr. Tara Griffin. She is one of the best dentists I ever met. I unfortunately have had many in my life. She has superior skills but also takes personal interest in making sure you are happy with the results. Today she replaced an old implant that went bad and put on a new crown. I'm so very happy with the results!!! Her staff is wonderful and accomodating and makes every effort to see you asap. Danielle, who works closely with Dr. Griffin is also a find! She is a wonderful compliment to Dr. Griffin and is very talented and skilled in her own right. Thank you again, Dr. Griffin and staff!

I scheduled my cleaning weeks ago and took time off work specifically for this visit. After completing the new patient paperwork ahead of time, no one ever mentioned that I would be required to pay for new X-rays--even though I have a recent and complete set on file with my previous dentist and orthodontist. As someone who has worked in the dental field, I know it is standard protocol for the office to request prior X-rays before the appointment. I assumed this was handled when I was sent forms and asked to confirm. Instead, when I arrived early and prepared, I was told I'd have to pay out of pocket for new X-rays. I explained that both of my previous providers have updated records, but they were closed due to the holiday. Rather than offering understanding or assistance, I was pressured and interrogated--even after I explained I might be pregnant and wanted to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure. The staff repeatedly questioned me about my pregnancy concerns, asking inappropriate and invasive questions like "When did you take the test?" and "Why didn't you put that on your form?"--all while continuing to push me to take X-rays, even offering to "double vest" me. That is not how you treat a patient--especially one who just voiced a potential pregnancy and radiation concern. Ultimately, I chose to walk out because I was too upset to continue. I was also told there would be a $50 rescheduling fee, despite the issue stemming from a lack of follow-through on the office's part--not mine. Only after I pushed back did someone "waive it just this once," in a passive-aggressive tone. Frankly, I have no intention of returning after how I was treated. Patients--especially first-timers--deserve to feel safe, respected, and heard. This experience felt rushed, transactional, and invasive. I hope your team will reevaluate how you handle X-rays, patient communication, and concerns around pregnancy and radiation moving forward.

Her office is state of the art and she's great about walking you through what's going on with your treatment and why. Others may not, but I appreciate this time to understand why or why not a procedure, surgery, etc... is needed. She uses digital cameras and photos to show you one tooth vs another so you become a part of the process. I definitely recommend Dr. Seay personally, she's excellent. I still live in Park West but I no longer go to this office and I'll tell you why. After a visit and a recommendation to see an oral surgeon about having a tooth removed, I did. I went to Dr. Maltezos for a consult and it was recommended that a particular tooth be removed and an implant be put in. I wasn't opposed to this, but at the time, the tooth wasn't causing a problem and I was in-between jobs with no dental insurance or extra money to pay for such an expensive procedure. I had a family friend who had been my dentist for years look over the x-rays and his suggestion was that there was no immediate problem so there was no issue with waiting. Months later, I was having some sensitivity and needed a cleaning anyway. I came in to find that Dr. Seay had taken leave (I think for a few months) so I was informed that I would be seeing a different dentist. It turns out, my dentist for the day was Dr. Maltezos wife. I told her about the sensitivity in that tooth, which had actually passed, and wasn't bothering me. She pretty much scolded me after looking at her husbands recommendation and asked me "why is this tooth still in your mouth?". Um, maybe because I wasn't ready to have a tooth permanently taken out that wasn't causing me any problems and was going to cost thousands of dollars that I didn't have... that's a start. She then belittled every response I had and just ruined my experience there. It truly felt like she was just trying to push business onto her husbands office. I never ended up going back. I went to another dentist who agreed that the best tooth to have is the one that's in your mouth. I would have stuck with that dentist, but there was an insurance issue. I've now moved on to another office and actually had a new consult for the tooth. It finally started causing a problem almost 3 years later. I ended up eventually having the tooth out, which I mentioned, was my goal eventually, but I was able to do it under my own terms and when I had my insurance back in place to help defer the cost. Part of me wanted to knock this review down lower because of how my experience took such a 180, but Dr. Seay doesn't deserve that. She really is a great dentist. The office isn't cheap, but they're not sparing a single expense when it comes to the most up to date and top of the line equipment. Park West Dentistry is a great office, but I would never see Mrs. Dr. Maltezos again.
