After today's service, I had some technical questions for future reference and he thoroughly talked me through everything. He's very personable and does good work and I'm very grateful he could get this resolved today.

I usually have great luck finding home service pros on Yelp but unfortunately my experience with…read moreAlex & Alex electrical was disappointing. Scheduling with them initially was a little confusing - first we were messaging through Yelp, then text, then they sent me to their website. They were communicative but I never knew which channel to reach out to first. They did come out quickly which was appreciated. The first two gentleman that came to replace my fan and fix my ceiling light were not great. They would look at something, and then disappear and call someone and be on the phone with someone while they were looking at the fan or light fixture, almost like they were calling someone and asking them what they should do. Shouldn't they know? They were at my house for HOURS. WAY longer than I think they should have been. They would just look at the light fixture and talk to each other for like 5 minutes, then step out to make a phone call, then come back and start working on it. Over and over and over. They took a brand new fan out of the box and replaced it, but it wobbled like crazy (turns out they just didn't put the fan together really well because the second guys that came back made it much better). When they replaced my dimmer switch and celiing light, it looked AWFUL. Wasn't flush to the ceiling at all. They told me just to patch it, but this clearly needed more than a patch! I couldn't believe they just left it like that. I called and told them I was unhappy with their work, and they offered to come back and fix it. The second guys that came back were in and out so fast. They fixed the light and it looks perfect, just as it should. Clearly the first guys that came out had no idea what they were doing. Disappointed to have had a less than stellar experience, considering how highly reviewed they are. It must depend on what service folks you have come out to actually do the work.

Madison Electric - Top switch (above #2) Is the switch they replaced. As you can see it is an old used switch

If you're looking for an electrician in LA, stop searching and call Nathan from Madison Electric…read more They installed an EV charger and did the electrical work on my home when I bought it. Top-notch work, all permits pulled correctly, no corners cut. When I later sold the house, an electrical issue came up during the sale -- turned out LADWP had dropped the ball, not Madison. But Madison treated it like their own problem, coordinated with LADWP directly, and had the whole thing resolved within 48 hours. They're skilled, ethical, and responsive. The kind of contractor you actually want to recommend to friends. Couldn't ask for better.

I hired Madison Electric in September 2022 to install an EV charger. Communication and the work…read morequality was great, I have no complaints. The cost quoted included labor and parts. I also have a new build construction home with the wires pre wired so the actual work was not difficult at all. However (which I didn't know at the time), the Nema 14-50 plug that they bought at Home Depot and installed is not commercial grade (ie. Rated for EV charger use). It was a $15 plug and I only realized that when I want to use the EVSE charger at the maximum intended 40 amps, the socket would get extremely hot to the touch. I was worried about it melting (as you can google similiar stories) so I have been charging the car at only 20 amps max because I didn't want to spend more money on fixing the issue. 20 amps is fine and I can get a full charge overnight, it just takes longer since it's a slow charge. I'm finally posting this because I'm using the charger very frequently now (since I had free public charging for my EV which ended so now I have to charge at home) and I do wish my nema 14-50 plug was a heavy duty one so I can use the max amps of my juicebox. I didn't know then since I was a new EV owner so I want to make sure that other EV owners are aware and advocate for themselves/double check the work to make sure your house is safe!
