Worst service experience I've ever had. Took my RAM in for common exhaust manifold leak. After having both sides replaced under warranty my wife picked the truck up for me. A day later I started it up to hear the leak was way worse. Brought it in again and after inspection they said the y pipe was damaged... only could've been done by them. Y pipe got replaced I get warranty. I then pick it up to find out the y pipe is now leaking. They found stripped nuts and fixed immediately. After a couple days it's leaking again. I bring it back and I'm told after they have the truck for 5 days... the bolts are stripped and need replacing. So I have the truck back but I don't feel confident at all that this is the end. Ewald - what an experience! This review is for a visit that was some time ago. I forgot about Ewald until it was brought up so I thought I'd leave them this review. I had an appointment with a friendly salesman (I don't recall his name). I made it very clear that I was taking off work to make this appointment with him and I'm unfortunately on a really tight schedule as a business owner. I arrive at Ewald for my appointment and ask for my sales guy. He's not around. Off to a good start. I ask the receptionist to find him. I tell the receptionist If he took another customer and doesn't show up in 5 minutes I'm leaving. I simply don't have time to burn during the day. So up meanders this bulky/chubby guy with dark hair that I assume is manager of some sort. He tells the receptionist, within my earshot, "Tell 'So-and-So' some A$$HOLE is here to see him." I KID YOU NOT. VERBATIM. Yep, I'm an a$$hole for making an appointment and expecting my time to be respected. Long story short, Captain Tubby Tough Guy's comment convinced me to purchase my fleet work vehicles elsewhere. I've since steered other franchise associates away from Ewald as well. Why should anyone put up with such obnoxious abuse and pay for it? They get two stars because the salesman was nice enough and did show up after a few minutes. I was traveling from Florida to Muskego with my new truck and had a message. Come up to shut me down because we DEF problem. I called Ewald and spoke to a sales person. He went over to the service department to ensure that they would be able to work on my truck if I was able to get it to the dealership, I live to the dealership after hours and park in front of the service department. When I called the service department in the morning, they said they were unable to work on the truck because they only had two lifts they would handle my truck. They would not even offer to plug in the truck to see what the problem was and see if it was something simple or what. I was told that they couldn't even think about looking at the truck until next week sometime. For anyone who doesn't want to read a long review, let me summarize for you. Drive as quickly as possible to ANY other dealership. Griffin's dealership is only 8.5 miles from Ewald. If I could link to Griffin here, I would. In hindsight, I would take public transportation or walk before dealing with anything Ewald affiliated again, if I could avoid it. We got the runaround from their sales department, and a VERY shady salesman (Bruce) that give salesmen the bad reputations they have. Now we have been left stranded without a vehicle for 6 weeks because Ewald's service department managed to do thousands of dollars damage to our $83K Jeep from simply installing running boards and seemingly is unable to fix the error in any kind of timely manner. I would love to include photos, but that would require me to have my vehicle to take photos. We purchased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland from Ewald. The salesman Bruce was nice enough during the sales process, which I would expect. I had a very specific Jeep color/trim package that I wanted. Bruce found one at another dealership, and the only thing it was missing was running boards. Bruce assured us that if we chose that we wanted running boards we could purchase them at cost and he'd have them installed at no charge. When we took delivery of the vehicle, there was a defect in the passenger window. Bruce said a new window was being ordered. After a few weeks we call and the window hadn't been ordered yet. Several months later we are told that we can schedule the Jeep for the window replacement and 2 recalls. We took the Jeep in and nobody knew anything about a window. Another few weeks goes by and we are contacted that the Jeep's window has arrived. The replacement window was damaged and we would have to ONCE AGAIN reschedule our service. 3 more week pass with not a single update from anyone at Ewald. Our AC also wasn't working. So we took it in and the 2nd replacement window had been in for weeks. We also decided at that time to order the running boards. My husband spoke with Bruce, and Bruce wrote up an order for the running boards, selling them at cost. My husband asked about the installation and was told by Bruce "don't worry, I'll take care of it". After 4 days we get a call that the Jeep is ready to be picked up, but they didn't fix the air conditioning. Despite a technician experiencing it not working they claim they could not recreate the issue, and that the AC was working. My husband goes to pick up the Jeep and was told he owed $290 for installation! He went back and forth with several managers, as he was told there would be no charge, and they agreed on us paying $100. It's important to note, this was in the evening and the sun was setting. The next day when he went to get in the Jeep he noticed SEVERAL dents and dings, and gauges of paint missing from the Jeep. He also noticed upon further inspection that over 18 bolts were missing from the running board installation. We immediately called and left a message, but as it was Labor Day weekend we did not get a call back until Tuesday morning September 3rd. The air conditioning was also once again not functioning. We took the Jeep in on September 3rd. To make this already long review somewhat shorter I will conclude by saying it is now October 11th. I have not had my Jeep in my possession since September 3rd because Ewald has been "attempting" to fix the thousands of dollars damage they caused installing running boards. They told us they would need it for 1.5 weeks. It has been almost 6. They have also told us that they do not have a fix for the air conditioning, nor do they know when they will. We have gotten the run around from Ewald the entire time. Each time telling us "worst case scenario you will have it back the day after tomorrow". I understand that the service dept may have their hands tied, and can't fix it faster. However, the lack of transparency and good communication is par for the course with Ewald and a severe disappointment. read more

I'm so done with this place. Started with buying a new car from them. Car was supposed to come from a dealership up north since they didn't have on site what I was looking for. AFTER it was purchased (and they refused to take my leased car in trade) they tell me the car is now being driven in from MICHIGAN. Offered me a freaking oil change for the wear and tear and mileage added to my NEW car. Then we go to pick it up, they say NOW they want my leased vehicle in trade. Uh, no. Already got rid of it idiots. Almost every single oil change or service appointment has been met with: we're understaffed and there's no parts. Not sure how long it will take. Doesn't matter if you have an appointment. Got a text stating vehicle still hadn't been brought into the shop after being there for 4 hours. When I asked why that was, received: "an appointment in the automotive industry is a time to bring your vehicle in, NOT the time where your vehicle goes into the stop to get looked at. We'll probably have to keep it overnight." I've had to take my Jeep in twice now FOR THE SAME THING. Tell me they can't replicate the problem and the computer shows nothing. I've also noticed when it comes to reviews, the ONLY time Ewald responds is if there is a 5 star review. NEVER to any of the negative ones. read more

I wish we could say that the dealership was wonderful to work with but sadly we can't. We purchased a new vehicle from Ewald and from there it went downhill quickly - of course once all the papers were signed. We were told numerous untruths about the vehicle and they refused to address or even respond to phone calls or emails. They attempted to set up the Uconnect for us but entered an incorrect email address. We contacted Uconnect directly only to be told that Ewald would have to make the request to change it which they didn't. Ewald forgot to give us the keys so when got home we were able to turn to car off but unable to start it again without the keys, They reused to have someone come out to deliver the keys to our home. None of the accessories that we were told came with the car did. We were so excited with our new vehicle that we didn't notice until later that day that items were missing and again, Ewald didn't respond to any of our telephone calls or emails. Our Salesperson was Justin Spinks and seemed to know little about the vehicles. Numbers kept changing and we assumed it was because he was young and seemed unexperienced. His manager stepped in to finish the deal. I honestly can't even give them 1 star. I purchased a jeep from the Oconomowoc dealership in October. had an average transaction, no problems just time consuming. I noticed after a few days there was a problem with the fuel neck and trim it was very loose, Every time I got fuel I would have to hold the nozzle so it would stay in otherwise it would fall out. I had an appointment for them to look at it on Nov 17. By the way, I live an hour away. Stopped in, they checked it out said it was normal. I left. On my way to Green Bay we received a call from the manager saying that after he thought about it, that wasn't right and he was going to order the correct parts and that they would let me know when the parts were in. I received a call and set an Appointment for 11am Dec 14. I arrived on the 14th After I was waiting for 1hr the lady in service came back and told me it was going to take 4 hrs! Ok, well I'm here, so that's fine. 1 hr passes and she comes back and tells me that all the parts aren't in that I will need to come back and it is going to be a bit because they need to put my car back together. As I was leaving the service dept they said to call them when I get notified that the parts are in, wait.... Aren't you a service dept??? So, I get the email that the parts are in, finally after 2 weeks, when the part just needed to be shipped from Chicago. Now, I book the appointment first thing in the morning as I am a business owner and that Would work best. Today 1/4 I arrive at the dealership at 7:55 am for my 8 am appointment. Get checked in and wait for my ride. My daughter shows up and we left for 2 1/2 hrs. It is now 12:10. Came in and asked the women in service how my jeep was coming along? I could see it in the back lot. She needed to check. She then came back to tell me that they would need the Jeep for 2 days. I asked if they even started the work, No they had not. I told her I had an 8am appointment it was now Noon and you hadn't even got the vehicle inside????? I asked for specific clarification on that and I signed the papers which is my fault but the papers were written up a lot different from what we talked about! Purchased a used certified 2018 Dodge Durango from here. Thinking that a certified vehicle had been well inspected that should have taken some of the concerns of buying used off my mind. However whoever "certified" this vehicle should be fired because anybody with "expertise" should have caught several issues before me. Chipped window, bent rim,scratched bumper. "Certified" to ewald means that jimbo smoked two cigarettes while looking at the vehicle instead of the typical one. They fixed the paint because I spotted it at the dealership. But they did nothing for the bent rim that was clearly missed during Jimbos certified inspection and I brought it to their attention within the useless 3 year 3k mile bumber to bumper warranty. My wife was in the market to buy a used car. She looked at 2 or 3 at Ewald and choose a Chevy that she really liked. We sat down to talk numbers and the finance rep joined us. He said that they would find us the best rate and we were looking at about 8% through their banker. We said we have our own lender that we use that we can get 3-4ish%. He then said that because of Covid and the vehicle shortage we had to finance through them. I asked him if I came in with a money order, or straight cash, that you wouldn't sell me a car? And he said that's right, that every car needs to be financed through them and that with the pandemic that all other dealerships are practicing the same thing. At that point we were over being strong armed and manipulated by this person and left. We went to several other dealerships and all were ok with us using outside lenders. read more

I live in Oregon & could not find a Jeep Renegade with all the options I wanted within 500 miles, none of the dealers here would go any farther than that. I found a few cars I liked- 1 in New Jersey (they said they would call me back but never did) , 1 in New York (they were really rude), 1 at Ewald. Ewald is in Wisconsin- over 1,700 miles away from me. The first person I talked to was Paula- she was very nice & she connected me with Mat. Mat was extremely kind, positive, helpful, & very knowledgeable on how to do an out of state sale! There were A LOT of texts & emails between us & he was very quick to respond to all of them. He answered all of my questions. The paperwork was sent via UPS 2nd day air- they even sent a return envelope so I didn't have to pay to return the paperwork to them- I thought that was really nice. They highlighted all of the places to sign in 1 color for my husband & another color for me- that was super helpful since we were not in the dealership. My husband dealt with Jake who handled all of the financing- he also was very nice & easy to work with. After the sale was done, Mat put my car into 'storage' until I could secure transport to get the car to me in Oregon. It was about 1 week later that I was finally able to arrange transport. I asked Mat to take a video of my car being loaded onto the truck & he did. I sincerely appreciated that! I get my car tomorrow & I could not be more excited! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! I was in communication for over 2 weeks with a sales person from this dealer before flying out from California to pick up a Sprinter. During this time I specifically asked about certain issues regarding rust, drivability, and overall condition. Mainly because I was going to be driving it back to California where it was going to be customized before going to its new home in Oregon. I understand that buying a used vehicle means that the vehicle is not perfect, new, and does have it's signs of wear. Especially due to age, mileage, and region it was used in. As much as I would have liked to have purchased the 2005 Sprinter in the condition that I was described by Ewald's sales person, as well as on the Ewald website and Cars.com listing. The vehicle I saw when I arrived was definitely not in that condition. There was never any mention, even after I had specifically inquired, of the mechanical issues including ones that deem it unsafe such as inoperable power steering, severely warped brake rotors, inoperable emergency brake, or the other issues including the inoperable front and rear air conditioning, oil pan leak, and inoperable power door locks. Regarding the tremendous amount of rust and body rot, I had specifically asked Corrie/Connie about the rust and was told the vehicle looks and drives "like new", was in excellent condition, and that the photos on the listing were an accurate representation of the vehicle. Furthermore, I did not receive the Wisconsin vehicle report until I was mid-travel at my layover, even though I had been talking with the sales and finance staff for nearly 2 weeks. The Wisconsin vehicle report that was sent to me by the finance manager clearly stated mechanical issues that contradict what I was told by the salesperson and the listing online, mechanical issues that actually made it legally unsafe for road use in Wisconsin! I was told it was perfectly capable of a 2000 mile journey in its present condition, and mechanical conditions I had specifically asked about I was told did not exist.. The best part was the Sales Manager telling me it was normal for these issues in a sprinter and that they wouldn't even drop the price $100 from the ridiculous KBB Excellent condition price they were demanding. read more

Mr. Ewald, I would like to share with you the worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere. This experience happened at your Ewald Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram store at 6319 S. 108th St. in Franklin WI. My 2018 ram was towed into your store on March 24th I received the car back on Aug. 16th and that is 146 days without my vehicle and poor communication as to the status of my repair. I only have one car so if you could take a moment to imagine what I had to do to get back and forth to work, pick my kids up, drop them off, take them to school events and so much more. I borrowed cars, I rented cars, I used Uber and Lyft along with some good friends. I was lucky to use a car from my job for most of the time but I was limited to the miles I could put on it. I'm sure you don't see any issues in anything you've read so far and there probably isn't. The problem was with communication and what we in the auto industry would consider customer service, yes I'm in the auto industry as well. I have always thought very highly of the Ewald group and assumed they must do a great job with so many locations and just from doing it for so long. Well, your Franklin store needs help and it must come from the top on down. Here is the frustrating part of the whole thing. I documented 24 calls to your store with seven returned calls. I called Ram customer service 19 times with 13 return calls. 9 emails with 4 replies from your store, 13 emails to Ram with 11 replies. I consider myself extremely good at customer service as a matter of fact for two years I traveled and trained people in the automotive industry on customer service, sales process, service process, and more. I'm in the automotive retail world again ever since Covid and I probably won't go back to consulting because I really enjoy the day-to-day crazy world we call the car business. I wanted to give you feedback because I think you deserve it before I share this nightmare with others. I would also like you to know that when I picked up my vehicle on Tuesday from your store I felt like I was disrupting the kid's play hour. When I walked into the service write-up area after the not-so-friendly treatment at the cashier window I witnessed your staff playing with the remote control car in the service drive where I was standing while one employee was trying to find my paperwork. When I was a GM of a store I made sure that we were professional and courteous to all customers when they are right in front of you. I'm not saying we shouldn't have fun at work I'm just saying when a customer is standing right in front of you it might be time to put the remote control car away. The last part of the experience was me picking up my truck, the last opportunity to make me a happy customer. So getting into my truck after 146 days and finding grease on the steering wheel, hood, quarter panels and grill, was very frustrating. I started thinking to myself why wouldn't they run it through the on-site car wash? Instead, I have to have it cleaned next week to get the grease off the fenders, hood, and grill but I've already cleaned the steering wheel, I couldn't drive like that. There's other comments that was made and attitudes that were given to me but I wanted to share some of it with you. I hope for your sake and the reputation of the store this does not fall on deaf ears. Take a moment to read your 59 Yelp reviews on your service department and you will see why you only have 2 stars. I'm DONE with this place! There service center is a SCAM!!!! They screwed us over a few years ago, but we decided to give them a second change because we love our salesman Alton! So sad their service department looses sales for these hard working individuals! I have bought 4 cars from them and now need a new one, but NEVER again and I feel bad because Alton deserve it! But won't ever go due to their scam service department! Dropped of our truck to get our check engine light off to pass an emissions test. $2,000 worth of things and we paid and got it done. Every thing that came up on the scanner they showed us. We got fixed. They told us they didn't have the part and wouldn't have it till Friday. So we asked for our truck back since it's our business truck and we needed it. They asked if they could keep it and would give us a loaner for free: we agreed which we NEVER should have done! 4 days later we get our truck back, paying $2,000. Told we had to drive and come back for emissions test. Fine. 5 minutes later our freaking check engine light comes BACK ON!!!! 5 minutes!!!! Called and they said to come back so we did. They hooked it up to the machine, and what do you know another code comes up that was NEVER there the first time and this one will cost $3,000!!!!! Scam ass place! They did something in those 4 days to make another code come up! What are the odds it makes our check engine come up too? Knowing we needed to perform and pass an emissions test! This place is sick to do this to a family especially during these hard times! We need that car to take our child to his doctor for his health issues once a week and now we can't with expired plates still. This is our only car! We were talking with Alton on another car, but NOT FROM YOU! We TRUSTED you once again to fix our truck since we bought it from you, and yet again another scandalous act from your dealership AGAIN!!!!! Purchased a jeep a grand cheereke 2018 larato. PD cash for her. We love the jeep great ride, and Brandon has been one amazing sales rep. Ok here we go. Day one we bought the car, no manager came out to congratulate us, on our purchase, or to say thank you for joining our dodge dealer family. As a manager I found this very poor, as manager, I would personally come out and say something. As we walked to the car, my boyfriend and I realized we did not have a 2nd key or any manual. Brandon went to locate the key fob we waited 20 minutes no fob found no manual was found. But a generic one with no vin number anywhere. We where told to come back Monday for the key they would have it. Ok I understand as a car rep myself this happens on occasion. Monday, no key fob found, but my boyfriend found the owners manuel in the glove compartment. Brandon then said the fob was found but not at the dealership. They will send a driver out Tues. Again no manager, I think at this point he was more concerned about fb or maybe he was non existent. Why is not the manager not apologizing.For the phantom key. We where we not reprogrammed another key, oh wait that cost them money. Bullshit. Tuesday we waited for a phone call nothing. Wednesday I went into get a update. Lmfao no fob again, same bs they located it a drive will be out today to get it. I finally wanted to talk to the manager, the phantom manager approached me..same bs was given, he said the key will be here Thursday. I said why is this so difficult. Where is the key at he said at a dealership, I said what one and dont give me a line of crap he said it's a dodge dealer. Which one I said he refused to answer me. So I told him we own two dodges, you want my service correct he said yes, so then for all this hassle your giving me you expect us to come back, for maintenance. Yes he said with a smile. So ...hmmm I said so why not a year of free oil change on the jeep, he said oh I'm sorry we dont do that. He said I will write you up a IOU a key fob. That is what I'll can do for you. What the heck we spend over 40,000.00 and he acted like we owed him a favor. He shook my hand and walked away. I talked to Brandon for awhile, as I waited for the IOU a key fob. You got it the Moran never gave me one. We shall see if we get one Thursday. This manager needs to be fired, his management skills are left to be desired. I maybe a female but this girl knows cars and how to sale them, fire his ass and give me his job I'll teach your company how to build customer relationships. Oh lol they offered us tap water and coffee what the heck offer soda popcorn doughnuts really, need to work on your customer relations and respect to your prospective buyer's. BEWARE... I bought my jeep off lease today and I'm very disappointed that it took nearly two hours to complete the purchase and they charged a second "dealer service fee". I initially leased the car from Ewald and it irks me that I paid a service fee on the lease and was asked to pay another service fee on the purchase. I questioned the service fee since my lease contract stated i could buy the car for the residual plus tax and dmv fees. The gm initially claimed the service fee was an official fee. After I explained it was a fee permitted by state statute but not mandated he backed off the "official fee claim" and said it was unfair if it wasn't evenly applied. I showed the gm my lease contract with a different service fee and asked him if that was fair. At that point was told point blank that I needed to pay the fee or go go find a dealership that wouldn't charge it. For the $250 "dealer service fee" I expected better service. They could have portered my car or at a minimum not lied about why they charge this fee and completed the transaction in a reasonable amount of time. I understand the dealer fee is a money grab and everyone does it. For that fee I would advise finding a dealer that respects your time and intelligence and would advise you skip Ewald read more

Will never purchase a car or go through service with this dealership again. It has been nothing but problems and when ask to speak to a manager you are hung up on. 1 when purchased car they did not do something with the DMV and 1months later my plates were suspended. 2 when called to schedule service for an oil change, said couldn't guarantee 45 min time like website states. Bought used RAM 1500 truck supposedly with all known defects disclosed-- developed a rattle the day after purchased, and it turns out it needs $2000 of repairs. The good: Lonnie Peterson (salesman) He is one of the nicest salesman you'll ever meet. He doesn't pressure you like others do, he doesn't try to get you to buy something else you don't want, and overall he is a extremely professional at what he does. I can't say enough on how much of a pleasure it was to work with him. The bad: Rich the used car sales manager Rich was apparently having a bad day and he took it out on a customer (me) He was condescending, rude, and used a tone of voice that is unacceptable while talking to anyone. All i asked him for was his best offer on a car that i liked and test drove and he said he wouldn't give me an offer because i said I had another dealership to check out a similar car i liked before I made any decision. This enraged Rich when i said that. His exact words were that I was not allowed to "shop around" if I wanted an offer from him. That i was to buy the car today or it was no deal. Are you serious?!?! This kind of pressure and bullying is what give car dealers a bad name. Th ugly: Rich's ego couldn't apologize to me himself but had to have Lonnie do it for him. (quite sad) Lonnie the salesman called me the next day wanting to still work out a deal. He said that Rich told him to apologize for the way he acted and treated me yesterday. Apparently he wasn't upset with me but with the kind of day he was having. They then decided to give me an offer which was only slightly less than what they were asking for before to make up for his actions. I think an apology from Rich himself would of been more appropriate and acceptable than having his minion do the dirty work. Rich's customer service tactics are extremely lacking. I will never step foot in this place ever again and I will make sure I tell my story to everyone else i know who is car shopping. Overall, I will only give one star on this review and that star's name is Lonnie. If you do decide to make the same mistake I did and try to buy a used car from there, definitely ask for Lonnie Peterson. He will at least soften the blow from the "dreaded Sales Manager Richard." Oh and trust me, Rich will act like your best friend, the first time you meet. Don't fall for it like I did! read more
