I've gone twice and had good experiences both times. Tom did my repairs within a day the first time and two days the second time. The second time took longer because it was difficult to diagnose the issue. They're upfront about their prices and the actual cost aligns with their estimate. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. It's rare to find honest people in any industry but it seems to be more prevalent in the auto industry. I brought my truck here when I needed new rotors and an oil change. My decision was based solely on Yelp reviews, and they did not steer me wrong. He is a great mechanic's shop. This is a family business. Tom owns it, and his son works with him as the other mechanic. They are very happy to talk through what you need. They are very patient and not in a hurry to rush you out the door when you need to convey your problem. Trustworthy, as they were open that I didn't need pads, yet. It was unmistakable that I needed rotors. They called and said how much brake pad was left (enough), and asked uf I wanted them changed while they replaced rotors. I showed up unannounced as they opened at 0730 and my truck was done by 2 PM. I'm very pleased with their work. I love the truck. It has lots of mods, and I don't like trying out new mechanics who might screw things up. But, being new to Omaha, I need a good mechanic. Tom and his son are my new mechanics. I recommend you try them out. The building isn't much to look at, but the family running it makes up for it. They don't have a waiting room, but Tom actually drove one of his other customers home so he wouldn't be uncomfortable while his car was fixed. Now, that is customer service. Took my partner's car in to get brakes looked at -- Tom was super helpful, explained what was up with them, replaced them, and even did an oil change same day. Was at least $300 cheaper than what the dealership wanted. Wound up taking my truck in couple days later as it had been making a funny sound (dealer didn't say anything when changing oil, strange) and Tom told me my brakes were down to metal and needed a fix ASAP. Charged under $100 for labour and for cost of parts. No "inspection fee" that other places always try to tack on. Great people. Will be back for all repair needs as long as I'm in town. read more

Let me start by saying: GO HERE. This place has been in business since 1993 and has never advertised. Drive up to the place and you'll see why. They don't have a lot of space but don't let that deter you from walking in the door. It is family owned and they take pride in their customer service and most importantly, honesty. I had to take a car in for sway bar extenders and bushings and the work was 'excellent' and affordable. Tom (the owner along with his wife Renee who works the front desk) will not BS you. People dislike taking their cars in for repairs out of fear of being taken advantage. Then go see Tom and Renee. Interaction is always pleasant. And the mechanics are problem-solvers. I've never had a big surprise with the repairs or the bill. Expect to work with them in the time department. Drop off for a day or so is common and fast turnaround is not one of their strengths. I've been seeing Tom and Dan at Excellence in Auto since my first car when I was 16 (I am 29 now), and my parents have been loyal customers since long before even that. These guys are SO honest and affordable and have been every single time I've been there. My first two cars were buckets of bolts and they broke down constantly, but even as a struggling student I could afford to get them fixed at Excellence. And Tom and Dan are just about the nicest guys you'll ever meet, if they ever find time between vehicles to talk to you personally! They quietly proclaim in their tiny waiting room that they are a "Christian Business," which is usually a turn-off to me as a non-religious person, but it has proved to be wonderful and true because they are so darn honest and such good people. The only con would be that they have SO many loyal customers that they are often backed-up and their lot is ALWAYS packed full. However, they know my maiden-name so well from years & years of serving my parents and me that I can usually get them to look at my car more quickly!!! But I think if anyone makes their case about being in a rush, they will try to make time if they can. I find it is best, if possible, to call ahead and ask what day is best for them. They appreciate that, when possible, and will expedite your car whenever they can. I've seen them working late into the evening in the garage, after the shop has long since closed, to get people their cars back ASAP. They are hardworking, honest people. I would cry a river if they ever closed, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. read more

I am not sure about you, but when my care does something funky, or won't start, its a huge pain in the gluteus for a few reasons: one, I know NOTHING about repairing vehicles. Two, despite what they say, you really CAN'T learn everything on youtube. I've taken my car here twice, and I haven't been disappointed. The first time, my check engine light clicked on and the codes ran were multiple and made no sense to me. I brought in my car (an old 1999 sedan), left it for a few days, and got a phone call back that told me that nothing was really wrong with the car, and maybe just a tune up would be great. Previous car repair places would have recommended I "fix' everything, and also to include my wallet with a big fat red bow. The second time I took the car in was for the starter, which I knew was the problem. Got my car back the same day and with a totally reasonable price. I will never take my car anywhere else. I have been incredibly happy with the service provided by Excellence in Auto Repair. It is a small, family owned shop that I am happy to support. Tom and Renee are kind, friendly, and incredibly gracious! The repairs are top-notch and affordable. The only challenge is that because it is a small shop, it can be tough to get them on the phone. If 4.5 stars was an option, I would go for that because of this. What I appreciate about this is that I know sometimes Tom or Renee is not answering the phone because they are giving their full attention to their customer that is in the shop instead of rudely ignoring them to answer the phone, which is awesome. I followed Joel's review and went to EIAR and they were just as described. They were all very friendly and seemed willing to go the extra mile. For example when we pulled up one of the mechanics was helping a man aim his headlights and I don't think they charged him a dime. We got a little nervous when we noticed they had a entire lot of cars, but they finished our repair in 24 hours as promised. When the bill came, it was about $100 less than we were quoted, which is doubly good during Christmas season. Water pump replaced, washer fluid flushed and lube/filter. Finding a solid, experience mechanic who's trustworthy is tough enough for anyone, but especially to someone moving to a new town. Not long after I'd moved to Omaha, someone recommended EIAR to me and I've found them nothing but, well, excellent. I don't even live anywhere near the shop, but they're still my primary mechanic. They get work done in a timely manner despite being crazybusy most of the time. The one time that they did make a mistake on my car, they reimbursed me for added expenses without any hassle. She told me I could actually leave my car there that night and use the key drop-box feature. I have to admit that I was a little put off by the appearance of the place (not bad, just not expected). They ran the scanner and my car gave no codes but something was definitely wrong. They kept my car overnight to look into the situation further. I can't say enough about this auto repair shop. I bought a new 2004 Ford Ranger and have always brought it back to the dealership for everything. And while it was expensive, I thought it was worth it to keep my truck running like it was brand new. This time when I called for an appointment they told me I couldn't bring it in til the 28th (this would have been a two week wait! For a safety issue? No way I could wait that long.) After looking up online for reviews, I found this place and I can tell you I'm NEVER going back to my dealer. They are busy, very busy as you'll find when you drop off your car, but they are honest, trustworthy, hard working people who care about you and your vehicle. I dropped my car off at 7:45AM, they had the problem diagnosed around 10:30AM, and it was fixed and ready for pick up at 2:45 that afternoon! Seriously, a great place to go for auto repair. The name fits the company well here. I took two separate cars in, thinking we had some weird issues going on with our cars. Each time, they charged me NOTHING b/c they said they couldn't find a problem. I offered to pay for their labor, but they refused. My wife and I were shocked by their kindness. In fact, they told me I probably just needed a few new tires soon and recommended some good places in town to go to. They also sent me to Iggy's to get my door fixed, which turned out to be an amazing recommendation! They were right, by the way. There really was no issue with either car. I don't usually take our cars in unless something serious is going on. So I was worried they just missed something, but they didn't. The one time they did fix a problem, they fixed it quickly and did an awesome job. I told my whole family they need to start going to these guys. They are the best! I took my car here a couple months ago. Over the next three weeks, I had to initiate almost all of the contact with them just to find out what was going on with my car. Three times they told me it would be done by a certain date, only to have the date pushed back. Their initial estimate ended up being about 600 dollars less than the final actual cost. They were able to get my car running again, but two months later, I had to take it in again with a related problem, which ended up costing another 400 dollars. This time, I took my car somewhere else, because I couldn't afford the possibility of being without a car for a week or more. I had heard good things about them from friends of mine, so I was very surprised and disappointed with my experience. read more

Tom is a saint, and so is his team. I've taken my two vehicles into his shop for completely unrelated problems many times over 5 years now and I've always received very fast service. I've never once had the impression that I was being overcharged or being given advice about my car in order to nab more business, but because they were genuine issues worth addressing, and always usually limited to my original problem unless he detects something obviously dangerous or costly down the road. This is a mechanic that understands that the best way to make his money is to provide stellar service and reap the deserved loyalty of his repeat customers. I would recommend this mechanic to literally everyone one hundred times over. I'm nervous to move, because I know I won't likely to find a mechanic this good and trustworthy and friendly if I do.
