I was very excited to check this place out, but it was extremely disappointing. We made a Saturday…read morenight reservation (you basically cannot get in without a res, they completely fill up) and they require $20 (+$3.75 fee) per person "deposit". We were under the assumption that it goes towards the final bill the way the $10 weekday cover does, stated on the website. It did not. We paid the $20 in addition to our bill. This needs to be addressed on the FAQ page on their website, insane it isn't listed already. The drinks were the most meh drinks I've ever had. Their menu looks incredible, but the cocktails were so mediocre. Nothing special, I didn't even like my Pear Cosmo it just tasted like straight lime juice. Two of my friends got the Spicy Margarita and they tasted completely different. One was insanely spicy, the other wasn't spicy at all. Took 15 minutes for a server to come over and acknowledge and take drink orders. Seemed like lots of miscommunication on which servers had which table. As one would come over, the other would check in less than 30 seconds later. The vibe inside is cute but super strange that they didn't steam/iron the green curtains which are a big centerpiece for the room... you can see the crease marks on the curtains from where they were taken out of the package folded. Jazz band was awesome. However, for this being a lounge it was too loud. Couldn't hear the person sitting next to you talking because it was so loud. Overall, disappointed in this place, I had super high hopes as I love jazz bars and cocktail bars. I would not recommend to friends and probably would not come back.

Get there a few minutes early to get a good spot, and they do community seating FYI. With that, the drinks were not good. Everyone at my table hated their drinks, which let me know something is off. They turn the espresso machine off at night, which was disappointing, as the signs lead me to believe they served coffee all day. I thought that was kind of cool. Also beware of them putting the cover charge on your tab and then charging gratuity on it. Bring it to their attention! Sitting by the door on a chilly night was a little cold, as the traffic came in and out throughout the evening.

I didn't see that with the construction and detours, so I parked in a tow-away zone right in front of the eight-foot monument. No, I didn't get a ticket, but I didn't stay as long as I would have liked either. The statue is 8 feet high, made of bronze and created by Thomas Jay Warren. The statute depicts Coltrane with his tenor saxophone. It was dedicated on September 20th, 2006, on what would have been Coltrane's 80th birthday. I liked that there was a storyboard about John Coltrane and his career to read, and that there was a nearby historical marker. "My music is the spiritual expression of what I am ~ my faith, my knowledge, my being." Coltrane was born in Hamlet, NC, but moved to High Point as an infant and grew up living with his extended family. Coltrane grew up with music; his father played the ukulele, and his mother was a trained singer and pianist. Coltrane first started playing the clarinet and alto horn. Then, at William Penn High School, he joined the band and started playing the saxophone. Coltrane found solace in music after the deaths of his father, grandfather and uncle. Coltrane moved to Philadelphia and joined the Navy. He collaborated with other legends like Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk. He overcame his addiction to drugs and alcohol. His "spiritual awakening" led him to more spiritual music. Coltrane's career was cut short as his untimely death from liver cancer took him at age 40. But he left a lasting legacy with albums such as Blue Train, Giant Steps and A Love Supreme. .

i'm new to the Charlotte area and I googled upscale lounges to visit my first experience here I…read morequickly realize it is not a upscale establishment from sitting at the bar and watching someone bust down a cigar fill it with weed and smoke a blunt in the club, which I have nothing against anybody, who smoke however I don't expect this at a upscale establishment had I known this I would've wore something like jeans and a T-shirt however I dress up because I thought it was an upscale establishment. I am very popular back in my hometown maybe not for all good reasons. I come off as a whistleblower but one thing you will never call me as a liar and this last time I went to this establishment the DJ tried to throw shots at me as I'm walking through, which didn't really bother me as much because I don't even know who he is which I feel like it's kind of lame and childish and he's probably broke so I get it if I intimidated him in anyway I don't apologize about that however it's more than just about money cause that just says a lot about his character not mine so if you are a out of town and you're looking for a nice dining lounge experience, this is not the place to go. This is more for local if I had to guess I would say drug users so if you're not into that lifestyle, I don't recommend it. and although the food was good, I will never return back because of the disrespect from the DJ, which was unnecessary and very childish to say the least. hope this helps someone looking for a nice established lounge to visit. This is not it.
