I couldn't have been more pleased with everything about this boutique hotel for our one-night pre-cruise stay. It's a perfect location for walking around the waterfront area. Plenty of wonderful restaurant choices nearby and it's a breeze to drag your luggage the short distance to Canada Place. The communication at this hotel is second to none. They communicated by text before we arrived, and throughout our stay. They were just as friendly in person! We arrived via cab from the airport and were greeted by a Bellman who cheerfully assisted with luggage pre and post check in. I was glad that I had cash on me for tipping. We got really lucky that they had a room available for us even though we arrived prior to official check-in time. The room was super clean and comfortable. Bathroom spacious, great shower. Our king bed couldn't have been more comfortable (wish we could have taken it on the ship with us!) Another thing we appreciated about this hotel is that there was always someone there as a subtle classy form of security that would ask which floor and push the proper elevator button. My husband and I recently stayed 2 nights at the EXchange prior to our cruise. The location was perfect to walk to the port, even if you are dragging too much luggage LOL. The hotel is very charming. The room was perfect for us, very clean, comfy bed, great products in the bathroom. The staff was exceptional, from check-in to check-out and everything in between. Everyone was helpful, polite and friendly. The restaurant was great, we had a lovely dinner at the bar the night we checked in. I would highly recommend and would love to come back. read more

My big bag containing all souvenirs that I got from Vancouver, disappeared from my room after two Housekeeping staff entered my room to clean it. When I returned to my room in the evening I immediately reported it and provided all the RECEIPTS and PHOTOS also a called police and they gave me a file number. But at the end the hotel manager said they had investigations, but I was left without any clear explanation. The manager did not apologize for the missing belongings or accept responsibility, and I found his handling of the situation dismissive and disrespectful. About the safety of this hotel, on another occasion, the manager entered my room while the Do Not Disturb indicator was active without first obtaining my permission. Also while I checked-in there was a strand of Hair in the bathroom sink and the fridge had disgusting smell. For a long stay costing around $4,000, this experience was unacceptable and waste of money and time. Beautiful modern hotel inside the shell of the old Vancouver Stock Exchange. Staff is very helpful and professional. Also eco-friendly with a bee colony (outside) on the 4th floor. Very efficient elevators and the interior is very quiet (street noise can be fairly loud). Hydra restaurant is inside the building and provides breakfast for hotel guests (additional costs may apply). Lindt chocolate store also in the building. Absolutely fell in love with this hotel!! I don't think I'll stay anywhere else on my future visits to Vancouver. This beautiful hotel is perfectly situated downtown, near the waterfront and CF pacific center. There are plenty of attractions within walking distance. The staff are welcoming and very friendly. We were upgraded to a bigger room, and my son (a 2 year old) was gifted a teddy and some other toys during check in. So sweet!! Honestly these thoughtful gestures leave a great first impression. I immediately noticed the scent in the hallways - super clean and fresh! Everything is well maintained. The rooms are beautiful and the bed was so comfy. So comfy that my toddler "slept in", which never happens. We had our vehicle with us and parked it in the building for 52 CAD per night (62 CAD if valet). The parking is 6 floors underground. It might be better (cost wise and accessibility) to consider using a public parking lot. There was one nearby. Oooh make sure to try the orange flavored water near the front desk. So refreshing! The staff at Exchange Hotel, where I stayed for the first time, welcomed me with a smile. The hotel parking lot is on the 6th and 7th basement floors and $49 per day. And I was a little confused to get to the hotel lobby from the parking lot. Because you can't go directly to the hotel lobby from the parking lot. First, get off on the first floor and then move to the hotel. The hotel is very convenient place. Also you can go directly to Hydra Estiatorio Mediterranean & Bar from the second floor of the hotel. And the elevator system here was great. My room was on the 11th floor and there was no scenery, but I liked it because it was quiet. The coffee in the room was delicious, and I was happy because there was a Dyson hair dryer in the bathroom. It was convenient to watch YouTube and Netflix with the Q code on the TV screen. It got a little cold at night, so I tried to turn on the heater, but it didn't work. But I really liked this hotel. If there's another chance, I'll stay here. Very clean, has everything you need. We're in the heart of downtown, walking distance to so many businesses and restaurants, 20 minutes to the airport by train. I recently stayed at EXchange for one night. Price was under $300 per night and the location is good, which were my main criteria. The building is a historic location (the original stock exchange building), which is evident from the floor and ceiling upon walking in to the first floor elevator bay. I wish that they leaned into this for the rest of the decor, as I found the check-in, lounge, hallways, and rooms to be more modern. I'd love to see some more vintage style. Service is top-notch, from the elevator doormen to the check-in staff. They were incredibly polite and professional and helpful. I booked a room with a queen bed, and they said I was being upgraded. It was a slightly larger room with a funny L shape. It was more than enough space and well appointed with a TV, couch, desk, safe, fridge, full length mirror, etc. It was quiet at night. If I were to be nitpicky, I did notice a few spots for improvement: such as where the extendable mirror was hitting the wall, and I didn't love the shower head. I did not use or see any amenities available (gym, pool, etc). Overall, it was a very lovely stay and I would recommend! read more

Wow, beautiful hotel with excellent location downtown and close to the Canada Place for any cruise goers. Service is immaculate- we were promptly greeted by a friendly staff when we stepped into the hotel and given helpful directions to the lobby. The front desk staff are courteous and so pleasant! They kindly allowed us to check in early without extra fee or hassle. She even gave us an option of corner room with a more narrow layout or a regular room near the elevators. We opted for the corner room and was greeted by an amazing city view on the 7th floor. They also gave us a lovely welcome gift upon hearing that it was our anniversary! Although the room is a bit small and you get a clothes rack rather than a full closet, the room is just beautiful. They provide toiletries from Loccitane and the bathroom is gorgeous! From the sliding door to the marble counter to the rainfall shower head to the heated floor, it was just amazing. The only con is that there was no bathtub and the shower has no door. Their electronic system is one of the best I have ever seen! They have a red light for you to press for "do not disturb" and a green light to press for "room service needed". And the elevator system was mind blowing! I wish all elevators were like theirs: button panel is on the outside and they tell you which elevator to step into that will take you to the desired floor. No more checking to see if the elevator is going up or down and no need to press buttons inside the elevator if your hands are full. Genious! Absolutely great stay and would recommend. In fact, the next time I come back to Vancouver I will absolutely book again. read more

A very nice hotel right in the heart of downtown Vancouver that has some neat history as originally serving as the city's stick exchange. Walkable to both Waterfront stations and innumerable bus lines and surrounded by coffee shops and food. I heard typical city noises during the nite but nothing disruptive; I'm sure you'd hear less from the higher floors. Very friendly valet staff who were helpful with the elevators and umbrellas. Other nice things included heated bathroom floors, comfy (firm) beds, free wifi, complimentary waters, and a convenient bonus washroom on our floor. read more

We spent two nights here and loved it. Our corner room on the 10th floor was great with views of the city streets. Close to Waterfront station so easy access on the Canada Line from the airport. Inside out: this building is beautiful and historic, I didn't even know it was such a high quality eco-standard hotel but that just made me love it even more. The stonework inside is next level, I will say I did not love the art on the 3rd floor- outside room 302 it was... just not for me. The rooms are so comfortable and I love that they don't have carpet. I did NOT love that I couldn't close the shower in any way or have a curtain of any kind. The elevators are a little strange to have the buttons on the outside, but it was fine. Service: I think this has been one of the friendliest hotels I have ever been at. Extremely helpful staff, everyone was incredibly kind. I don't think I felt more comfortable in a long time, I work in customer service and I know it's annoying to have people bother you sometimes-but I never felt like I was bothering them when I had a question. They supply delicious fresh water by the front desk on the second floor that has fruit in it and it was just fabulous. Overall I loved it so much it's the only hotel I want to stay in when I visit Vancouver, I can't recommend it enough. I do not know anything about the parking because we did not have a car, but I walked so many places from this location. Dinner, views, everything is close. I saw lots of people going to the cruise ships and I would say it would be an easy walk down to the dock, not with a metric ton of luggage but if you just had a roller bag and a backpack you could do it easy. read more

I agree with previous reviews that the rooms were very small for the price. That's my only con as the rest of my stay was lovely. When I Xl checked into the hotel I was promptly greeted and was allowed early check in without additional cost. As noted, the base rooms are small but the decor is lovely. I loved the bathroom and the shower was huge. I was even treated to glass of wine to celebrate my birthday. The beds are also large and comfortable. I also really loved that the hotel is very quiet and I couldn't hear the other rooms. Overall this a fantastic hotel if you don't mind the small room. Let me say that the Staff here are some of the most courteous pleasant and prompt I have ever encountered in my travels. The room is well appointed and includes a huge walk in shower with excellent water pressure. The king bed was very comfortable. The elevators are unique in that you select the floor you want to go to on a wall panel, then the elevator opens and takes you to it. No selection inside. I wish I had booked more than one night as this would be an ideal base of operations to have to get out and see the town. read more

GREAT HOTEL! I stayed here in February for a work trip, and I am so happy we did! It's a beautiful building, and I love how it's decorated. It feels so modern and cool. It's right in the middle of downtown, easy to get to from the Sky Train and easy to get pretty much anywhere from! My room was beautiful - the bathroom was clean and luxurious (heated floors!). I felt kinda cool staying in there, I have to say. The eco-friendly features were super neat and like nothing I've seen before. The food options here were fantastic, I went down to the restaurant/cafe and was able to order food and bring the plate up to my room! The food was delicious, to boot! (I had the fish & chips). The staff were INCREDIBLE. The front concierge's (I'm not sure if that's what you call them) were all the most friendly, kind people that felt like friends by the time I left. I stayed here for one night in Dec. 2019. It was a gift for my birthday from a friend. Unfortunately, the stay was quite unpleasant, and I spoke with housekeeping, the hotel manager, and the front desk while I was there. The hotel manager notified the front office manager who spoke with me while I was waiting for breakfast after I had checked out. The hotel manager comped my parking due to what happened. The front office manager said if I came back another time, he would give me a discount on a suite. He said he would email me his contact info. He texted me for my email, and I replied. I've not heard from him. I won't be staying here again. Here are the reasons why I would not recommend staying here. The EXchange advertises itself as a 4 star hotel, including heated bathroom floors, marble walk-in showers, a bathrobe, and a safe. My room lacked a bathrobe and a safe. The shower was an engineering mess: the drain on the far side of the floor, with nothing dividing the shower from the rest of the bathroom so all of the water just filled up the bathroom, flooding it. I had to use all of the linens to not drag water into the hotel room and have dry feet. There were metal spikes sticking out of the electrical socket in the bathroom. Due to not having a proper electrical socket in the hotel room, I left for the day with wet hair. The mattress lacked a fitted sheet and just had a mattress pad on it, with a sheet and bedspread. The door lacked a proper fitting/sealing; I could hear people coming and going in the hallway throughout the evening. Same for the windows for hearing people outside, even though I was several floors up. Thus, I didn't sleep well. Aesthetics wise, the bed frame is too big for the bed by several inches; the odd, open poles in the rooms with hangers hanging off of it with drawers to substitute for a closet and dresser are ugly, and the lamps in the room by the TV and on the desk don't give off much light. Another engineering issue is that none of the light switches would turn off the lamps, and the floor lamp didn't have a power switch I could find, so I had to unplug them both to sleep. Upon checking in, I had to ask when checkout time was and other basic information that should have been offered. The clerk then said that the fitness center would be closing soon. I had to ask her what the hours were for the next day. When I brought the issues to the attention of housekeeping in the morning, they told me that they were long-known issues. The hotel manager checked me out. After letting him know about the bathroom and linen issues and showing him photos per his request, he apologized, comped the parking fee and was going to comp breakfast too but then saw it was part of the price of the room, so he didn't. I imagine it wasn't something he could do since the room was booked through Expedia. He did offer to inform Patrick Au, the front office manager, who found me shortly thereafter in Hydra to speak with me about my stay. Valet was great. They were sincere and helpful. They use L'Occitane bath products, which is fabulous. The other part of why I wouldn't stay here again is the experience I had with Hydra. Review with them is there separately. read more

The EXchange Hotel Vancouver is in a wonderfully central location--walkable to restaurants, the waterfront, bus, rail, and ferry stations, etc.; however, perhaps due to its efforts to seem exclusive, there were a number of reasons it was a difficult spot (for an American?) to stay. While the room seemed to be well appointed and the bathroom quite pretty, we found that all was not as it initially appeared. Some of our most notable issues: - We were unable to adjust the temperature of the room ourselves (instead we had to call down to reception for them to adjust the temperature remotely) and therefore there was no "fan" setting to use as white noise (the hotel is in the city center)--we were able to request a tower fan to be brought to our room--additionally the vents seemed to dispense white lint; - There was no water bottle filler available--on our second day we asked at reception and the staff took our reusable water bottles to a private room to fill for us--and when we asked about water, we were provided additional complimentary water; however, said water was a +8 pH and did not taste/feel right; - The fitness center was in the basement, which you could only get to by taking a winding set of stone stairs, and you had to first stop at reception to exchange your room key for a gym key and then stop back again after your workout to get your room key back again; - A hand towel rack suddenly fell off its wall on our second day; and - The hair dryer provided had a cord that was too short, making it impossible to actually use it to dry your hair. Some of the most notable pros: - Lighting in the room was plentiful, including reading lamps on either side of the king-sized bed and a backlit mirror in the bathroom; - Desk included an outlet station with a strip of standard outlets and USB ports; - Lobby is connected to a Lindt chocolate shop, which, in addition to chocolates, also had hot chocolate fountains; - Branded umbrellas were available for loan, which was terrific as we hit Vancouver on a rainy streak; - Staff was generally friendly. read more

This was a beautiful and very clean hotel. Their hospitality and service was superb. Our flights were changed and we were scheduled to arrive hours before initially planned for. I contacted the hotel and they were so kind and accommodating. Fortunately, there was a room available and we were able to check in early. Such a blessing since the kids were exhausted from travel. It was pretty rainy when we're were there and the hotel offered umbrellas for all guest for the day upon request of course. This was so convenient. We used the gym every day we were there and although it is on the smaller side, it had absolutely everything you needed plus a gym coach sitting there if you needed him. I did not try their restaurant as we ate out everyday but we did look at their menu and the food looked good. We were there for a total of 6 days and I would definitely stay there again. read more

I stayed here for a work trip for three nights and had a great experience. I was on the 10th floor and with the exception of the people next door who consistently tried (and one time did) open the connecting door, I have no complaints. The room was very big, i like the open closet set up, the heated floors and spacious walk-in shower were great every morning and night, and the service was wonderful. Areas of improvement: The room service menu could definitely use some additions. Being connected to Hydra should result in their whole menu being available, but there are less than 10 items on the room service menu. It would also be great to add refrigerators outside of the mini bar beverage fridge. I would definitely stay here again and will again when I am back in Vancouver. read more

Okay after reading the other comments, I would agree that their check in was a mess, however they compensated for it. I recommend you book the blue chip suite or patio suite as it's on the 11th floor with a private common space for people on the floor. The room includes this beautiful tub with heated tile floors. What makes it feel homey is this private patio area. It is more on the pricey side, but worth it. I literally want my master bedroom to be designed similar to these suites. Parking is self park in their garage or valet. It got annoying having to call the front to open the garage gate on sundays or after work ours. The hotel shares space with an office building so it could look kind of confusing. At least there are workers on the floor when you try to check in. read more

We pulled to the curb to see if we could drop off our luggage as it was 5 hours before check in. The doorman/concierge checked and said our room is ready. I told him we have a tournament in 15 mins... is it possible to check in and get the bags to the room in that time? He said yes, then informed the bellman to quickly get our bags and meet me at the registration desk. Then he called registration to inform them of our time frame. Lo and behold ... I was checked in and bags in our room in 10 minutes! Awesome service!!! Our room was really nice and the doorman concierge was awesome! The hotel gave the feel of a ritzy hotel but the staff was always friendly, pleasant. It didn't matter if we were dressed up or in street clothes. What's also awesome is the location of the hotel. Everything is within walking distance! We had a car but we mostly walked around the town. The reason for pulling back one star is the parking is underground and the hotel parking is at the very bottom. We got a dizzy by the time we got to the hotel parking and on our way out of the parking structure. Lol read more

The pros: The service is excellent. The staff is always kind and helpful. The hotel is very clean and quiet. They accommodated us with an early check-in (about 2 PM). They have cool elevators where you indicate your floor and a monitor tells you while elevator will arrive. The doormen will key the elevator for you. The only con is the layout of our room. We had #717 which is a corner room with a lot of hallway. There is a constricted area around the bed that had very little room to get by. At night we went over the end of the bed to get in and out rather than exiting the side and walking along the side of the bed. I took a couple of photos to show how tight it was between the end of the bed and the nearest wall. That is just a normal TV remote for scale. read more

One of the best hotels I've personally stayed at! I was on a reimbursement budget and had very limited options of conveniently-located hotels under $200/night (including taxes & resort fee). Maybe I'm making an unfair comparison to the previous $200 hotel I stayed at (The Burrard -- so ghetto), but EXchange was SUCH better value in comparison. Just 1 block away from Waterfront which made commuting super easy, and NOT on a sketchy street or by a sketchy alley. Easy checkin/checkout. Not necessarily fancy but neat and clean from lobby to room. My room was on 7th floor, essentially no outside noise. Larger-than-expected room size with nice touches like open closet, non-fan AC (probably the best part for me because I hate air being blown on me), power bar on desk. Bathroom was interesting -- nice black/gold colour scheme, quick-flush toilet, and L'Occitane toiletries, but shower head too low (had to crouch) and no bathtub as another reviewer mentioned. Overall exceeded expectations and wouldn't mind coming back! read more

I was in Vancouver two weeks ago for vacation and my stay at the EXchange Hotel was pretty amazing. The service at this hotel was absolutely fantastic. At check in we were greeted by very friendly staff and I thought the hotel was beautiful. After checking in, we dropped off our stuff and ventured out to get a little acquainted with our surroundings. I thought the area was nice and I felt safe, and I also liked its proximity to a lot of must see sites. There's a 24 hour bakery (Breka) across the street so that was very convenient to grab coffee and a muffin or their chia oats for breakfast before heading out for the day. There's also Robson Street where you can walk for hours to shop but more importantly to eat. Lots of yummy bites! We had tickets to Capilano Park for the suspension bridge and the shuttle bus to get there is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. And to grab the ferry to Granville Island was maybe a 30 min walk plus a short ferry ride. Everything you want to see is within walking distance from the hotel. And every time you walk in and out of the hotel, you're greeted by their wonderful staff. I will be sure to visit Vancouver again and am definitely looking forward to staying at the EXchange again. read more

We booked a few rooms for a stay before departing on a cruise. As a designer I was excited to stay here since it's a LEED certified property and it was featured in the Michelin Guide. EXchange definitely lived up to the hype! It's in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, walkable many nearby restaurants, bars, and bakeries, next door to Lindt chocolates. As soon as we excited our car service we were greeted by warm friendly faces with a cart to take up our many bags. The reception area smelled heavenly, an intoxicating but not over powering scent that is just so calming. Check in was quick and our rooms were beautiful, tastefully decorated. My favorite part of the room was the L'Occitane bath products. After a long flight a hot shower, warm heated floors and luxe products yes please! We would definitely return. read more

The room was a decent size and comfortable to move around in. The shower was especially nice and roomy. The elevator was also nice and fast and the room keys were a very fast tap to open the door which is not always the case. One thing that was very annoying is that they offered to hold our bags until check-in (which is pretty late at 16:00) and then said that they would bring them to the room. Which seems nice but then the bags took 1.5h to be brought up! We felt trapped in our room, we called the front desk after 30min and asked if we could just carry our (2 small) bags up ourselves and they said they would expedite our bags as we were waiting for them. Apparently "expedite" is still 1h! We were just sitting there unable to charge our phones or do much because we were just waiting for our bags. Not a great first impression. Really nothing was wrong but the "luxuries" were all misplaced for my preference. It was all looks and staff greeting you as you came in. The room was fine but not as nice as you would hope for for the price. Also the WiFi had a captive portal that kicked you out every day. So you had to be sure you grabbed all of your devices in the morning and clicked "ok" again to make sure that your latest emails, photos and whatnot have synced. read more

Cons: *The "base" rooms are very, very small. Accomodations for hanging clothes, drawers, towels, etc., are dissapointing and really hamper any comfort afforded by the room. The water pressure in the shower was extremely low. Almost dreaded taking a shower. *Note: My wife and I requested a room in the same price range with a more accomodating layout and the hotel staff graciously gave us a better option. First off this place is a quarantine hotel for international visitors that tested positive for COVID-19. They lock the doors to the underground and lobby entrance at 11. Then when me and my girlfriend where about to get into bed we pulled back the sheets to blood stains. We called the front desk they apologized and brought up clean bedding and changed the bed. They gave us some money off the hotel room and tried to give us breakfast coupons that we didn't use. After having this bad experience I left a review using the app we used to book the hotel room and we started to get threatened with charges to my credit card if I leave up my review. Makes me wonder how many other people had bad experiences here and was threatened like me. read more

No real big complaints about this hotel, just minor things that didn't make the stay better than average. The perks: - walking distance to and from everything - close to the airport and train station - pretty friendly staff The cons: - check in was a mess and the area itself is so small and crowded - the room is nice and clean but nothing above a classic hotel room offered - just felt cold with the decor, I get it's an old building but nothing special in my opinion read more

It was a horrible experience from the start. We were not able to check-in to our room until after 4:30pm. 4pm is check-in here. The room they gave us had a hole in the ceiling with the water leaking. I explained to their employee, Thomas. He said it wasn't directly in front of my door. They have horrible customer service. read more
