Amazing stay here to celebrate my hubby's 37th birthday. The hotel is beautiful and well-maintained, with plenty of options for meals, drinks, and shopping both on-site and in the surrounding neighborhood. They left a handwritten welcome note for us, and the cleaners gently organized my makeup and hair tools. Absolutely amazing turn-down service. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, and the location was perfect for exploring all that the city has to offer. The quality of service throughout the hotel is top-notch, exactly what you expect for the premium price. Everyone went above and beyond to meet our every need; we felt very pampered. This was our first experience at a Fairmont Hotel, and we are now big fans. The quality is absolutely here. I stayed here with a Costco package. It was great walking distance to the convention center and easy access to transit. My room was nice, and the staff were super friendly. The view at sunset was lovely. My room always had my water carafe refilled, which I appreciated; however, there's no fridge (aside from the mini fridge with items for purchase) or microwave, so keeping leftovers was a challenge. The elevators were a bit outdated and can back up when there's a lot of people. There seemed to be only one set of elevators and my room was quite a walk from it. There is a rooftop, but it is not open to the public. The gym was fine; the pool was quite humid and all indoors- definitely more enjoyable during the winter season. The queue at the front desk can also be a long wait as there were only 2 people working at a time. The concierge via text though, was very useful. My Costco package did come with a food and beverage credit, but the hotel only had 1 restaurant and room service, so not too many options available. read more

Lovely stay here at this beautiful hotel. Spacious room on the concierge level with the best mattress and pillows!! Gym adequate but got to swim for 45 minutes in the 50' long pool, perfect temperature for lap swimming. The food on the concierge level was delicious and varied, service attentive but not obtrusive. Chloe at the front desk was exceptional with some issues we had and the fresh, well maintained floral arrangements throughout the property are so gorgeous and large, my husband thought they weren't real! Located downtown- convenient to all the restaurants, shops, and transportation. Loved that you need a card key to get up the elevator as we are located downtown it's easy for randoms to come and go. We felt very safe and loved the quiet hours. We all got a good night's sleep. The A/C worked well in our room. The bed was very comfortable and I liked that there was a flatter pillow I could use. Normally, most hotels give very tall puffy pillows. The two dogs who "worked" here was the icing on the cake. Our toddler loved hanging out with them. The concierge service was great - they dogs work in this department. They helped us arrange transportation with our toddler to the airport. read more

Enjoyed my stay at the Fairmount Vancouver. The building is older but I didn't mind. The room has character and I loved it ! It's a bit old I must admit but I felt safe. It was quiet. The pool is under renovations right now but I was offered to use the facilities at near by hotels and it was fine with me. The gym was very clean and quiet when I went. I didn't go first thing in the morning just late evening/night. Location is fantastic. Close to where I was needed to be. Shopping Center was within walking distance. My wife and I usually make our own travel arrangements and were skeptical about booking a trip with transfers, hotel and cross country train travel included but based on the reviews for Canadian Rail Vacations, we said "Why not" and booked it. This review is about the hotel only. The Canadian Rail Vacations (CRV) review is separate. Our trip began in Vancouver and while we had been there before, we were not familiar with the Fairmont Hotel on Georgia Street. But the Fairmont brand name is legendary with travelers and we were excited to be staying at one of their properties. As we arrived, Thomas at the front door had our bags out of the car before we knew it. Even our driver was amazed! After taking care of the driver, Thomas had a few questions for us and directed us to the front desk. The young lady checked our reservation and directed us to the 9th floor as CRV had reserved us rooms in the Gold section of the hotel. On the 9th floor we were greeted by Bella who became our new best friend. She was a combination of friendly and professional. That's pretty rare in our fast paced - get you in and out world. Bella took the time to explain the historic hotel to us, described the hotel amenities and gave us a tour of the Gold lounge. The lounge was exclusive to Gold guests and served breakfast, pastries, afternoon tea, evening snacks and light dinner and after hours treats. We lost track of all the offerings! It also had a honor bar with beer, wine and liquors. Our favorite part was the excellent coffee machine that produced every type of coffee imaginable. While we were just there for 2 nights, this room became our favorite place. The Staff was always present replenishing the offerings but never intrusive. Bella advised our room was ready so we headed around the corner. The room was large and well appointed. There was a honor bar in the room with drinks, snacks and coffee pods. As experienced travelers, we knew to close those doors and stay away! The room had a corner chair with ottoman, a small dining table, an amazing amount of storage, robes, an iron & clothes steamer, hotel stationary and a safe that would easily accommodate a laptop. It was one of the best equipped rooms we've ever had. The bath was adequate with over head and handheld shower heads. We found both the water pressure and hot water to be excellent. In what seemed like no time, Christian delivered our luggage and like Bella, educated us about the hotel and gave us suggestions on things to do and places to go. And the 1st evening we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries in honor of our anniversary. Each evening a young lady that came by offering turn down service and asked if there was anything we needed. The hotel is full service with a beautiful restaurant, bar and high end shops. Being right in the middle of town, there are numerous shops and restaurants within an easy walk and like most major cities, Vancouver has its own beauty and issues. We enjoyed the lounge multiple times and it became our base to start the day and unwind in the evening. On the day we (sadly) checked out, Raunaq asked about our next destination (we had told him about our train trip to Toronto) and he gave us information about the Fairmont property in Toronto and how historic and beautiful it was. The checkout went smoothly and Raunaq wished us safe travels and return soon. To say the Fairmont Staff is incredible would be a huge understatement. From the beginning with Thomas, Bella, Christian, Raunaq and everyone we encountered but couldn't catch their name, each and every one was so pleasant and welcoming. Each one was a great Ambassador for Fairmont and treated us like friends and honored guests. Needless to say, Fairmont will be our choice for our future Canadian travels. What you learn from staying at several Fairmonts in succession is it's not the ornate building, excellent restaurants or nicely furnished rooms, it is the people. Each person we met was helpful and attentive. From dining recommendations, sightseeing ideas to directions every time we left better for the help. Hotels that maintain such excellent staff are not inexpensive as you might expect. But as they say you get what you pay for. Definitely check out Notch 8 on the ground floor. Beautiful old hotel with excellent service. We stayed here at the end of July 2025. I also stayed here in 2018, during the famous Seawheeze. The location is amazing- and near a metro train stop. The restaurant inside the hotel is delicious with attentive wait staff. My sister and I enjoyed the hotel gym, though it was hot and stuffy. It was super crowded around 6 am, though. They had some cardio machines, weight machines, plus ice water and cold towels. The rooms were nice. We loved the Nespresso machines in each room, along with mini fridges. The hotel brand uses Le Labo Rose, a lovely scent. We could hear people in other rooms, though luckily it wasn't terrible. Due to the middle of the city location, there were outdoor festivals which were very loud in the evenings. Not the hotel's fault, but an FYI if sensitive to noise. read more

In the center of Vancouver easy access to bus and metro trains. Walkable to many restaurants. 20 minutes to granville, aberdeen, gas clock, etc. no homeless persons. Fully equipped gym. Also large warm indoor swimming pool, great all season long. But 4ft deep all around. Nice concierge. We found the service to be slightly spotty. Another search for afternoon tea but now the standards are higher since I'm in a country that does this habitually. I went to the OG Fairmont for tea service just cuz my aunt is staying here. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance. It was really fun and surprising to be walking into a secret room. Once you settle in, it's just a strange setup. Afternoon tea in a windowless room... like a fancy dungeon lol. They (the hotel) were definitely repurposing this room and made this floral theme for the summer (will change for Halloween and more suited for that lol). As I drank my tea and looked around more it felt like a speakeasy room which was confirmed by the waiter. Back to the food: ordinary. Nothing special. Maybe a little rich but not super sweet. Regular scone is good. Of course they have clotted cream. I tried the other seasonal scone lavender honey? Didn't finish. Tea was good. Everyone loves the lavender earl grey yeah I would agree it's fun and different. My chai was too weak in flavor. Oolong ok. $75 Canadian pp. Ok price but not coming back and will explore other places. read more

The room was very nice, I enjoyed a hot tea in the evening. The bed was comfortable. The only downside is that this is an older hotel so the water in the shower was either too hot or too cold. It's always a challenge to serve the food hit and fresh when you have 480 people to serve. Staff were very professional and attentive. The venue was beautifully decorated. This is a beautiful, historic hotel that offers almost every amenity. The staff are conscientious, if not very friendly. The prices, like all Fairmonts, are ridiculously high, and I don't believe you get what you pay for. The rooms are small, and the bathrooms are tiny: one person can barely move around. Also, it really irritates me that these high end hotels do not have laundry facilities. They all offer laundry to be sent out, but at ridiculous prices. Plus, I would rather do my own laundry so I know it gets done right. The Notch 8 restaurant is simply okay. The food and drinks are overpriced, like at all Fairmonts. And, it is beyond expensive to pay $20 for a 5oz. glass of wine. I would not stay here again. read more

What a gorgeous, historic, well located hotel. The lobby had many luxurious stores. We had a few hiccups when we arrived as a very large group had arrived just before us, an hour before check in. We were given keys, but not our room number, and instructed that we would get a text when our room was ready. An hour after check in, we still hadn't received the promised text and went to the front desk to find out that our room was ready and where it was. Unfortunately there was a problem with the door lock and so we were soon enough relocated to a lovely room for our four night stay. In town for the marathon, Concierge Neil gave lots of great assistance before we arrived, making sure that a mini fridge was set aside for us as the rooms do not normally have them. Our room had beautiful views out both windows as we seemed to be on the corner of West Georgia and Burrard, 12th floor. Mountains, water, planes, boats, helicopters, rooftop gardens, beautiful reflections of the hotel in a nearby reflective building - so awesome! Absolutely lovely landscaped church and Art Gallery across the street. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room quite spacious. The bathroom was quite small by comparison. Lelabo Rose toiletries. The fan in the ceiling had a bit of a sound but it was rhythmic and we got used to it. Slippers, robes and a safe in the lit up closet. The turndown service with jugs of purified water were appreciated. read more

We didn't stay at this hotel but we had dinner at Notch8. We stayed at sister property Fairmont pacific Rim and we were told to go and check out Christmas decorations in Fairmont Downtown Hotel. First decorations were very nice, a lot of people were taking family photos. Also loved Notch8 at the lobby bar with live music and we even had Santa showed up when we had our Christmas dinner there. Also love the designer stores in the hotel, looks very beautiful and addition to luxury experience at Fairmont. read more

The Fairmont Vancouver is a majestic castle in the heart of the city, walking distance to almost everything. Our experience here was ok- just not exactly what I'd expect from the Fairmont brand. For example, when we first checked in and came up to our room, there was someone's used razor/shaver sitting in the bathroom floor. You'd think they would have easily been spotted by housekeeping. With the sun shining through the windows, you can see a layer of dust on the lamps, bed frame and surfaces. The staff is professional and cordial, but a bit cold and aloof. The pool was always out of towels (also the pool is four feet deep but does not have any stairs or shallow area to get in, just a ladder- which makes it difficult for older people or anyone needing accommodations to get in and out). Overall it wasn't a terrible experience but for the price and the Fairmont brand it was disappointing. read more

Stayed here on the first leg of our vacation. The lobby is really nice and the staff was courteous even though we were checking in super early. They made the necessary arrangements to put us in a room that was ready. There is a nice restaurant that offers full menu items, appetizers, and there is a fabulous bar. The room is nice with a great view. The best thing about this room? The bedding!!! The bed was so comfortable, the sheets were soft, and the pillows were just right. The towels were fluffy and the lotions/shampoo/soap were high end. The hotel also houses many upper high end stores (Gucci, Dior, Omega, etc.). read more

This review is for the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver during mandatory quarantine. The Check-In: I took Lyft to the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, kept my receipt and checked in on the third floor for my three day mandatory quarantine. Upon arrival, I was directed to an elevator and instructed to press the elevator close button to proceed to the third floor. There, I was met with a friendly face - Heather. She checked me into my room, provided me with a key and explained how I could get reimbursed for the transportation (up to $50) to the hotel. Heather is so awesome - I happened to have a couple of email exchanges with her prior to my flight into Vancouver. The Room: My room had a pleasant view toward Georgia street and the water. The window could be opened a couple of inches so it was nice to have fresh air. The room was equipped with a mini bar (woot woot), wine glasses, wine opener, coffee and water kettle. There were menus and informational pamphlets on quarantine. I would either dial 0 on the hotel phone to order my breakfast, lunch and dinner or text from my mobile. Each call or text was always immediately answered. I can't say enough about the warmth and customer service. Bedding: The sheets. Plush bedding. The sheets. I love my Frette and SFERRA sheets. These are no different. SO soft and comfortable. The best part of the room. Safety: I felt safe at all times during my stay. On day 2, I requested to have "outdoor time" at the second floor courtyard. A friendly front desk personel escorted me from my room, down a special stairway that was clearly labelled, to the outdoor courtyard. There is also a section for smokers on the left. It's basically located outside the pool. The Food: Each meal I ordered was DELICIOUS. Some of the best in-room dining food I've had. - The fresh fruit platter included pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, raspberry and blueberries. - Burger: Juicy, incredibly delicious. Loved the crunchy bun - Steak Frites: steak was a tad overcooked, still tasty with some lovely shishito peppers - Breakfast: soft scrambled eggs, pork sausages with gorgeous brown grill marks...the perfect combination of crunchy/salty/juiciness, tasty potatoes and multigrain toast - Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings: Crispy, dry wings fried to perfection. Came with yummy hot sauce - Charcuterie Platter: Nicely grilled bagette with delightful selection of artisan cheeses and charcuterie. I especially liked the brie and the super moist proscuitto - that's hard to find even at a fancy deli! Check Out: I was provided with a cocktail voucher that I couldn't use because none of the bars were open. The hotel was so awesome and applied it against my wine purchase upon check out. I actually received my negative COVID test results within 24 hours so instead of staying 3 days, I opted to stay 2 days. Each staff member I encountered (via phone, email and in-person) was gracious, professional and responsive. A bellman walked me out from my hotel room. By the time I walked out the hotel, the invoice with credit for my third night was already in my inbox. The Fairmont has their safety processes down pat. This is a very old and elegant hotel. If the walls could talk eh?  It looks like something out of a movie on the outside with its 17-story tall gargoyle lined, gothic chateau-style and long hallways with plush furniture on the inside. In fact, it's been in lots of TV shows ranging from X-Files to Knight Rider, to the Good Wife and Arrow. Plenty of movies too ranging from the Santa Clause and Bird On a Wire to White Chicks and 50 Shades of Grey. ( Portland's "Heathman's Hotel" you will also recognize the elevators)  If you are a Deadpool fan (staring Vancouver Native Ryan Reynolds) you may recognize the Georgia Viaduct - just down the street from Hotel Vancouver as it was the site of one of the more epic battle scenes in the movie. Although it seems like the perfect setting for a Ghostbusters movie, those movies were not filmed here, however if you are interested in ghosts, this hotel does reportedly have a resident ghost, the Lady in Red. She has frequently been observed by staff and guests matching the same descriptions that have led to notoriety and the nickname. Once a guest family was surprised to see a lady wearing a red gown inside their room. Attempts to talk to the lady failed as she was unresponsive to the family members attempts.. They returned to the front desk, confused, and seeking help. Staff, already aware of The Lady in Red escorted them back to their room, which was found completely vacant. This ghost is believed to have been Jennie Pearl Cox in life. Jennie was a regular to the hotel's ballroom in the 30's up until 1944 when she met an unfortunate fate in a car crash just after leaving the safety of her favorite building. Reports of the Lady in Red are common on the ground and 14th floors. It is here she is usually seen entering and exiting elevators, even those out of commission. I did visit the hotel's bar and restaurant, known as Notch8, which I recommend. This spot serves up craft cocktails and high-end dining right in the lobby of the hotel's stunning interior. Ask for the off-menu drink 'The Lady in Red,' which bar staff have created to pay tribute to the hotel's resident ghost. The Queen of England and Many famous A-Listers have stayed here. (it's rumored that Gary Cooper hitched a ride back to his room at Hotel Vancouver on a street-cleaning machine!) Its easy to see why. All the staff are kind and courteous and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They are also a wealth of information. I love this hotel and will be coming back. read more

Yes, it's true. This hotel is dated and stuffy. The mattresses are springy and hurt your back. You won't be able to get a good night sleep - it's a guarantee. The rooms are so so so tiny. It's unbelievable for the price you pay. The air-conditioning doesn't work at all :( Be ready for a sleepless, sweaty night. In-room dining is efficient but the food quality is bad. The chocolate cake I ordered for dessert was stale and hard. The espresso coffee was way too bitter. They don't use quality beans. The good - I want to thank the front desk ladies Klara and a nother least whose name I didn't catch (she is the oldest staff member who has been there for 30 years) who helped us change our room to a bigger room, that was so much better. Alas the mattresses and the air-conditioning problem was still there. But I appreciate their willingness to help us and try to make our stay better. Thank you! There's a cute Fairmont dog by the concierge from Sunday-Friday. Oh boy! It's the cutest thing to see this furry friend in the morning. The hotel is in an excellent location and is a walker's paradise. If you want to come here and ROAST in your hotel room it's a great place. Other than that it needs a total remodel. Rooms are dated especially the bathrooms which are TINY. Barely enough room to get ready for an event or work appointments. Dated faucets. Terrible saggy mattress. And like I mentioned this property has zero air conditioning. When I told them it was too hot they said open the window. The window only opens a tiny sliver and did absolutely nothing to cool My suffocating room. I find it interesting that they claim it's an old hotel so it "doesn't have air conditioning" but the lobby, restaurants and hallways are nicely air conditioned. Horrible property. read more

This is a review of Fairmont Hotel's Afternoon Tea in Vancouver BC only: The rain is back in Seattle and it takes me back to the whimsical Afternoon Tea we enjoyed last weekend while in Vancouver BC. The Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver is well-known for their regularly rotating themed afternoon teas. The theme of our afternoon tea celebrated the rain in Vancouver which they succinctly called "Raincouver". Afternoon tea is a British food tradition of sitting down for an afternoon treat of tea, sandwiches, scones, and cake. Afternoon tea is served around 4 p.m. During the height of afternoon tea in the 19th century, it became fashionable with the upper classes because of the influence of Anna, the Duchess of Bedford. Afternoon tea was never intended to replace dinner but rather to fill in the long gap between lunch and dinner at a time when dinner was served as late as 8 p.m. Lifestyles have changed since those times and an elaborate afternoon tea is now more of a special occasion treat. On a similar note, I was surprised to learn that the term "High Tea" was used more to reference the working classes who ran with a different schedule and a different budget. High Tea is a more substantial meal taken at about six o'clock after a long hard day of manual labor and to help refuel weary bodies. It also includes a main dish, usually hot. It is taken sitting at a tall table, hence - allegedly - the "High" in High Tea. Afternoon Tea at The Fairmont was lovely and very filling. We had several little boxes of our little treats to take home to enjoy later. No one rushed us so it was a very leisurely affair. I recommend getting the Imperial Breakfast Tea or Creamy Earl Grey which we originally wanted but they had run out of it. Our server was wonderful and it was a very warmly lit and cozy room where the tea room was located in the hotel. By the way, this isn't just a stereotypical ladies activity. I saw some other families and couples there. Afternoon Tea is a bit of a splurge but it's another one of those things that is a Must-Do when in British Columbia, especially when celebrating a special occasion. read more

Overall the worst hotel experience of my life (the actual rooms and customer service regarding the rooms) -- can't believe I paid so much money for this. I need to find their customer service info to contact them. We paid thousands of dollars to have a luxury experience and the experience was about on par with a 2-star motel on the side of a highway. It was shocking from start to finish. Summary: we were given the wrong room (and lied to about it), broken toilet (couldn't be fixed), no heat (couldn't be fixed), and 5:30am explosive sounds/shaking all over our room over the weekend (couldn't be fixed - it was coming from the gym under our "new" room). read more

I had a phenomenal experience at the Fairmont and several pleasant encounters with staff. A stand-out was when we asked the front desk attendant to take our picture, and without missing a beat he put up a "be back soon" sign and led us to a gorgeous picture-taking spot on the first floor. The building itself is beautiful and historic, and it's been kept up in a way that both preserves this beauty and makes you feel like modern royalty. I'd jump at the opportunity to stay here again the next time I'm in Vancouver. read more

I was really excited to stay at the Fairmont. It's a great location and its reputation is so good. However, I am thoroughly disappointed in my stay. I've had the two worst nights of sleep in my life. The bed is quite uncomfortable and you cannot adjust the temperature in the rooms. The whole building is set to "heat" in the winter so even if your room is too warm, there is nothing you can do about it. We were able to open our window a sliver, but that is it. My fiance and I were tossing and turning both nights we were there. It really impacted our enjoyment of our stay in Vancouver. If you can't get a good night of sleep in your hotel, what is it for? The staff was friendly and helpful at check-in, at the restaurant, and the valet, but the lack of sleep made our stay disappointing. I really wish I had more positive things to say, I really do, but our sleep was so impacted by the poor temperature design. I am not sure I would stay here again. read more

Four stars is a tad generous, but I think they deserve more than 3. First time staying here (we're local), but we've been to the hotel several times before for Notch8 and shopping. Pros: the Gold lounge (Gold floor) is very good and the staff there are great. Love the scones!! Rather enjoyed room service. The building itself is old and beautiful and Notch8 is always good for dinner or afternoon tea. Nice luxury shops. The spa was pretty good. Pretty Xmas decor. Cons: yes this is an old hotel, but there is basically zero bathroom counter space, which is very disappointing. I was in a suite (953), but it was so close to the ice machine and a generally noisy area that it disturbed my sleep. The door is right by the bed. Also, there wasn't a way to cool the room down via the thermostat because since it's an old hotel, their system only allows either heating (winter) or cooling (summer). My room was 24.5C the first night and I was very uncomfortable despite it being December. Another room we booked smelled musty and was missing a knob to change the waterfall shower to the hand shower (room 931). We are used to staying at the Pac Rim, which is much more modern and has more amenities. Checked out the pool, and the hot tubs were (badly) converted into these weird little putting greens that immediately cheapened the area and looked almost like someone was playing a prank or something. Very odd. Decided not to go for a swim. read more

4.5* The iconic Fairmont Vancouver is my favorite place to stay while visiting Vancouver. Extremely well located and reasonably priced compared to Pacific Rim (more modern and recent) or other luxurious hotels. Bed and linen are always consistent from one Fairmont to another and perfect for a good night sleep. For those who love to shop, they have a variety of high end stores such as: Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, etc. If that's not enough, Tiffany and Prada are a block away :-) Their restaurant Notch 8 has great drinks and I also ordered through room service which was really good. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Strongly recommend it for families, couples or solo travellers. read more

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a beautiful and historic hotel (opened in 1939), and an overall great place to stay. Location is excellent. It's right next to the Vancouver Art Museum, and a 14 minute walk to the Vancouver Convention Center. The staff was courteous and helpful. We brought our small child. The hotel room had a minibar which triggered a room charge if anything was picked up (about $15 to $20 each item, with some $50 bottles of wine). Again, we had a small child with us... We didn't want our toddler to buy $200 worth of minibar drinks and snacks just by picking them up. When we asked them to remove those items from our room, they explained this results in a $50 restocking fee, which seems excessive. They worked with us though, and we were happy with the solution. There was no refrigerator in the room (aside from the one full of minibar booze) for occupant use, which we missed. It's helpful to have a fridge to stash leftovers, or milk for your child. The pool was nice and clean. No hot tub; the previous hot tub was filled in and now covered with astroturf. Overall, it was a great hotel and we would stay there again. It's perhaps better for people without small children though. read more
