I am extremely disappointed with my experience with this company…read more The sales process was excellent, but once the purchase was completed, communication became very poor. Beginning on July 16, I repeatedly left voicemails and sent text messages to my counselor, Idarmis, simply asking for guidance on the next steps regarding my father's scroll. Weeks went by without any response. I was later told that Idarmis was waiting for instructions from my wife, who is the property owner. However, that explanation does not reflect my experience. If additional information or authorization was required, a simple phone call or text explaining that would have resolved the matter immediately. Instead, my repeated requests for guidance were ignored. Ironically, I only received a text message from Idarmis after I contacted the office manager, Christina, to express my concerns. What concerns me even more is the company's apparent policy of refusing to provide customers with management's email address when they need to escalate an issue. Multiple employees declined to provide it, which I found highly unusual. In all my years of doing business, I have never encountered a company that prevents customers from contacting management to resolve a legitimate concern. If managers are there to assist customers, their contact information should not be withheld from clients. That practice is unprofessional and should be reviewed by corporate. Families choose a funeral service provider expecting compassion, responsiveness, and clear communication during difficult times. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I hope the company reviews its communication practices and customer service policies so that future families do not experience the same frustration I did.

I have mixed feelings about this business. I'll walk you through my experience. My brother…read moreunfortunately passed out of state and I immediately started the process of making his arrangements. I initially started working with a different funeral home and unfortunately due to how sudden and unexpected the passing of my brother was we were simply unprepared financially for this situation. There were a lot of blurred lines surrounding his death and well when you're in a vulnerable position and you put your trust into a business that's supposed to alleviate your stress when you're already grieving you expect a different level of care and professionalism. I found Graceland through Catholic Charities, and although Felipe was at first very kind and seemed like he genuinely cared there were a lot of things that just didn't sit right with me. For example my brothers body had to be shipped from out of state, that in itself took about two weeks. My brother passed away in May and we did not receive the body until June 27th and the viewing took place on the 28th. We were denied access to viewing the body despite repeated requests, although a funeral director can make the suggestion I believe it's up to the family to make the final determination. We never had the opportunity to identify the body and when I requested pictures, identifying information such as tattoos, or finger prints etc I was denied every single suggestion that I had in order to receive the closure that was needed. There was a constant back and forth with National Mortuary which is the company that ships, the funeral home in the state in which he passed said they preformed the embalming and the then I was told by the shipping company that THEY had preformed the embalming. The office staff seemed to laugh at me every chance they had, in particular Samuel. My brother was cremated on the 29th and unfortunately I couldn't attend the cremation which I truly believe was their end game. Although they were very gracious in understanding our financial situation and did give us a discount I don't believe that entitled them to behave in certain ways. I for one felt extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the whole thing. I repeatedly went to pick up my brothers ashes and they apparently have a policy where you can only pick up from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM despite Felipe being there. When I initially went to pick up his remains the staff told my husband that we still owed money which of course wasn't true we paid cash the moment we signed the contract and so apparently that was an accounting oversight. I have never felt so humiliated, embarrassed, and ashamed. This was terrible what was done to us and I hope it doesn't happen to any other family out there during the most difficult time in their lives. While we appreciate the discount we would've appreciated empathy a lot more. Felipe is extremely professional in his communications and the way he accommodates families but I just felt extremely frustrated and lost throughout the process.

Dealing with Graceland was a very positive experience. They were very prompt in their service,…read morethey included a beautiful guest signature book, they were easy to please, and their service at the church (especially their employee, Ray) was excellent. I couldn't have been more pleased. Most of all, they were very reasonable priced, which is difficult to find in today's world. I highly highly recommend Graceland Funeral Home.
