They're known for their draft beers and have a big selection to choose from. Our food came out fresh, hot, and delicious, and the drinks weren't bad either--not watered down, which is always a plus. I like getting my money's worth, and I felt like I did here. Good food, decent drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Auntie D gives this one a solid four out of five forks!

A fun, character-filled beer spot, but the food didn't quite live up to the experience…read more I met up with family at The Flying Saucer in the University area. It's seat-yourself, so we had to pull a couple tables together to fit everyone. One thing to note: it was very warm inside, so I'd recommend sitting toward the back where it's more comfortable. My boys really enjoy this place, so I wanted to like it more, but the food was just okay and a bit pricey for what you get. Most items run about $14.99-$21.99, even appetizers are at entrée prices. I ordered the Carne Asada Fries appetizer ($15.99) after hearing they were "fire." The steak had good flavor, but the portion was light--fine for sharing, but not very filling. One entree, Big Dipper ($15.49), a roast beef seemed overcooked and there wasn't much meat on a large bun. Two people from the table ordered pizza. Neither ate more than 2 pieces. On the positive side, the beer selection is excellent, with plenty of options on tap and in bottles and cans--from Guinness to local IPAs. The atmosphere is also unique: plates cover the walls and ceiling from guests who've completed their beer challenge, which makes for a fun, quirky vibe you really have to see in person. Dart boards for those who want to be a bit more active. Overall, it's a great spot for beer and atmosphere, but the food and pricing didn't quite match the experience for me.

I was just here on 4/7/2026 and placed my order at 7:28pm in the restaurant. I pray the owner sees…read morethis review - you are the only person I'm talking to. The young man working tonight is representing you all as the face of your business, and he did a horrendous job. One of the worst attitudes I've ever some across and if ppl are going for true Chicago authenticity, he's definitely got it. Thought I was ordering Italian Fiesta off 71st (IYKYK). If buddy doesn't want to work there, yall should let him go. If it weren't for the fact I desparately wanted a taste of home, I would've walked out and not made an order at all. Businesses thrive thru word of mouth, and he is the type to get the wrong mouths speaking. I got a better welcome and hospitality from the DJ, and that's an insane statement to have to make. As a fellow Chicagoan, I was super excited about this place - didn't even look at reviews because I only trust the palate of fellow Chicagoans. I walked in and stood at the register at the "wait to be seated" sign, and behind it was a young man wrapping silverware. This man looked at me come in (we made eye contact, check your cameras) and still made me wait SEVERAL MINUTES until HE WAS READY to speak. He walks over and literally whispers "You wna place an order?" That's it. Just like that. Theres a DJ literally right behind us at the entrance so I asked him to repeat what he said and leaned in closer to hear him. He whispered it again and I had to lean in closer to hear him. Every single question he asked, he whispered it knowing full well I could not hear him and he made ZERO EFFORT to pipe up. I was damn near behind the register with how far I had to lean in to hear him. It was absolutely without a doubt intentional. What an attitude. Wow. I place my order and see yall charge a 15% gratuity for take out orders. That's insane. Food was decent but yall are cheap on the mild sauce. I had a little bit on my chicken (not even covering it), and none on the fries. HUH???? Yall want ppl to come back and tell their friends about this place, right? Cuz it doesn't seem like it. PUT THE MILD SAUCE ON THE FRIES. As aforementioned, if that young man does not want to work there, then yall need to let him go. He is not a good representation of your business, as the rest of your staff was incredibly nice. Not every person he encounters will be from the Carolinas and carry that southern hospitality with them. It took everything in my soul to not act up in yall's beautiful restaurant, but his behavior is totally unacceptable. Disgusting, truly. I'm gna change my profile picture on here because I'll be back for the pizza puff, and I want him to know it was me who did this review.

Unfortunately, they appeared to have been cooked in old grease, which negatively affected the taste. When I informed the server about the issue and asked if the item could be removed from the bill, the server spoke with the manager. However, the manager never came to our table to address the concern, even though they had previously stopped by to refill our water glasses. The server later advised that a discount would be applied. When the check arrived, the discount was only about $2 and change off a $13.99 order. Considering the issue with the food and the lack of management involvement, I was disappointed with how the situation was handled. Overall, I was not impressed with the customer service and expected a better response to a legitimate concern about the food quality.
