The is my 2nd time at Cru and I enjoyed it the 1st time, but unfortunately, my visit fell short in several areas. First, the drinks were underwhelming. They lacked the balance and flavor I was expecting, and for the price, I anticipated much better quality. The hookah was another disappointment--it tasted off and wasn't enjoyable at all. Came here for brunch for a friend's birthday, and it definitely was a VIBE! We arrived around 12:50pm and had to wait as the place opened up at 1pm. Once 1pm hit, he had to check in with security, which they I.D. 21+. Once we were let it, we checked in with the hostess & let her know we had a reservation. We sat down, and the D.J. was playing GREAT music! It's a very small quaint place, but the D. J. playing music helped us get hype and get into the vibe. They told us we got free mimosas for brunch, so all 3 of us got free mimosas, which tasted GREAT! the orange juice was refreshing and complimented our meals. I had ordered the Crab cakes that was listed on their brunch menu but the waitress said that they were out of them and that they never have Crab cakes so I ended up getting the omlette and some French fries. My friend got the shrimp and grits, which the shrimp was great, but she said the grits could have been better. Overall, this is a very nice lounge vibe that I will definitely come back and visit! I gave this place a chance after it got shot up because I think it's a black owned business. the security was excellent but when it was time to order food the lady told me to scan the bar code. when I did I wanted to try the cru burger which came with Lettuce, Tomato & Cru Sauce. After I paid she printed on my receipt and I learned she applied an additional $10 . No where on their menu does it say gratuity added to bill and I sat at the bar so I wasn't in a group. I like CRU. This place is a whole lot of fun. Very "urban". Mostly hip-hop. Make sure you have a reservation as we were asked about reservations before the pat down. Once we got in we were seated and they have a QR code for the menu. Sadly reservations are only for 2 hrs. thats perfect if its just you and another person. You will need to contact them if you are having a large party. It was just me and my wife. We had a 9pm reservation. Ordered hookah, shots and drinks. A shot of don Julio and patron. Two pornography drinks. And a gummy flavored hookah. The place is nice, the music is jumping, and the waitresses are gorgeous and attentive. I didn't care too much for the drink. It really lacked any alcohol. It taste good but it taste like just juices. I thought it was a silent creeper like some other drinks I've had so I ordered another. The first one was dark like pepsi and the second was lighter like a peach color with cranberry added. You could taste the cranberry in this one and it taste different from the first. Still couldn't taste any alcohol. Outside of that, it was a cool vibe, the jerk wings were good and my wife enjoyed her hot wings. It was real lit but the hookah went out and around 10:40 they brought us the check. It can really add up. They announced that as they have to prepare for there 11pm reservations, they will be collecting the hookahs and cashing people out. All in all, not a bad place for a small group, 2 hrs is good.
