First off, cruise director Andy was phenomenal. He was personable, hilarious and showed great care for his staff and all cruisers. Plus, he even did his own comedy show, which was funnier than both of the comedians on board. Not to mention, he was everywhere. I mean, does this man rest? But seriously, if you ever get a chance to cruise with him, you'll never want anyone else. Truth be told, the staff undoubtedly, stole the show. Without any of them, the cruise would have been a major bore. This is why I love Carnival, they hire the best staff from photographers, food staff, fun squad, housekeeping, just everyone. They're all so kind and upbeat. For an Alaskan cruise, Carnival truly thought of everything. Who would've thought to hire a naturalist? Not me. Well, Carnival did, and her name was Emily. We went to a couple of her shows and I must say, she was awesome. It was great to see a young person, like myself, giving presentations and engaging older crowds with humor and knowledge of Alaska and its wildlife. I know I learned a lot from what she had to say. The layout of The Splendor was well thought out and easy to get around. The Spectacular Main Show Lounge was beautiful with plenty of seating to go around. Don't miss the playlist cast performances or the fun stuff like deal or no deal, the love and marriage show, bingo, and tons more! El Morocco Lounge. This was probably my favorite designed room on the ship. It's stunningly gorgeous and the perfect place for the punchliner comedy shows. Joel Lindley was funny, if not a little cringey, and seemed to be trying a little too hard for laughs. Now, I'm shooting myself in the foot, because I cannot remember the other guys name, but he really did steal the show. The guy was hilarious and he didn't even have to try, it flowed naturally and his material was relevant, personable and funny. The Red Carpet Dance Club. A bit underwhelming. We attended a fast art auction here, which was in itself impressive, but every time we passed the place it seemed dead. Now for dining. One of the new things they've created is an online check in tab on the carnival hub app for dinner dining. I found this to be helpful and more efficient as opposed to having people wait in line for who knows how long. Our dinners were in the Black Pearl Restaurant which was beautifully designed and comfortable. We also chose to dine for brunch a couple times, which was in the Gold Pearl Restaurant. Both have excellent service and food. Order whatever you want and however much you want, it's your cruise! As for the ports, all were smooth sailing getting off and on, except in Victoria. It's not even worth getting off if you ask me. It was dark and nothing was open except the small giftshop right off the ship. If this is the only negative thing I have to say about a seven-day cruise, which wasn't even the cruise lines fault, I think that's pretty damn good. If I could give The Splendor and its crew ten stars, I would!

They were recommended by Frommers. It was perfect. Sheri Doyle offers different layers of service. I chose a 30 minute consultation. I sent her my itinerary in advance and we then discussed how it might be tightened up to make sure we got the most in a style of travel that we are comfortable with. Her knowledge of the area is outstanding and she provided great insights about how to travel and get the most enjoyable experience. She also recommended hotels and B&B's in the different locations as well as cheaper alternatives for seeing some sights e.g., a harbor ferry in Seattle to Bainbridge island versus taking a much more expensive harbor tour. Sheri also had a negotiated rate with the hotel I picked in Seattle ( Hotel Andra) . After checking with them directly on the best sale rate, her rate was $ 35 a night cheaper. In the end I got expert advise that made a real difference in my planning - the differential in the room rate paid for the consult and booking fee and I still saved a few bucks.

This station is the 2nd to last Eastside stop before you head onto SR 520 so it is basically a transfer point. A lot of buses from places like Kirkland, Redmond and Woodinville make stops here before crossing over. On the return trip east, you can change between buses that originate from downtown Seattle and the U-District here. To quicken my commute, I have taken buses to this station and then transferred to a different bus to get to my final destination. Clyde Hill/Yarrow Point Station is partially covered, but open air. It can get chilly waiting here on winter days. Still your wait here is usually only going to be a few minutes, so it is bearable. I do have a personal preference for the Evergreen Point stop over this one. Heading west, I want to spend the least amount of time potentially standing on the bus that I need to. If your usual bus is delayed, I would recommend taking a bus to this stop as it gives you more options to choose from. It is helpful for those who need to change over from a U-District bus to a downtown Seattle bus and vice versa.

The bus stop is along 520. Once you're dropped off, there is a flight of stairs that takes you to the roundabout area that makes pick-ups easy peasy. At this stop, it's also covered, which has been handy since the last time I visited here it was snowing! This stop is not very walkable to any of the eastside neighborhoods, so I would recommend making arrangements to be picked up; hence, the roundabout driveway for cars here.

We were on our way to Point Robinson Park to see the Troll but didn't know we had to take a Ferry to get there, hehe. Even though it was later during the day, I told the other half lets do it, lets go on the Ferry!! hehe. I always wanted to see how the Ferry works with vehicle, last Ferry ride we parked our car and hopped on the Ferry this time we got to try it out, pretty cool. Made me wish Oahu had the ferry- to go to the other islands, so junk that they had to stopped the ferry! I didn't see any info. posted for the cost to bring your car on the Ferry, there wasn't any info. on Ferry schedule either. After asking attendant, we paid $24.95 per car which includes the fare for driver and $14.90 additional per adult. This is for round trip. Need to let the attendant know where you are going, for us its Vashon Island with a V!! Staff will assist you on where to go and when to go on the ferry, pretty cool experience, once the Fauntleroy Ferry runs, I loved the scenic views of Olympic mountain, just loved the experience! So cool, upon arriving we drove off to see and explore Vashon Island. The junk part is we arrived late so not much time, will start bright and early to have an entire day.

Overall, the terminal gets the job done, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved. One of the biggest issues is that the scheduled ferry times aren't always reliable. I would estimate that around 30% of the time, the ferry is running late, which can make planning around appointments, work, or other commitments difficult--especially when you rely on the ferry to get on and off the island regularly. That being said, I do appreciate that the staff generally do their best to prioritize people who need to board first and make accommodations for emergencies, particularly when someone needs to get off the island urgently. That can make a big difference for island residents. Another downside is the lack of shaded areas while waiting. During the warmer months, sitting in your car while waiting for the ferry can become incredibly hot, especially when there's no shade available. Overall, the terminal is an essential part of island life, and the staff do their best to keep things moving. However, more reliable scheduling and some sort of shaded waiting area would make the experience much better for the many people who use the ferry regularly.
