This was once and incredible Aqurium and herp store.. had the best salt water store for miles and miles. I don't know when the store changed hands but the new management has no idea what they are doing.. it is very sad..the previous owner, I think he was named Jerry was hands on and that seems to be the difference.. new guy has never been there during my last 10 visits. I use to love going there for fish or my reptile needs but ow it is depressing to go in there and see it. The tanks look dirty and their selection is just not what it used to be to be. It looked like they were going out of business. read more

This place is awesome! tons to chose from and fair prices, the workers are also super helpful! all pet store employees can be pushy, that's how they make money, but these guys know when to drop it and don't guilt trip you into getting anything if you say no. read more

Pretty small variety of exotics. Decent selection if you're looking for saltwater fish. Cute that they let the tortoises walk around the store but the actual enclosures they keep the tortoises in when they aren't roaming the store are tiny. Not a good selection of tanks or cage accessories. Prices seemed pretty steep. Dubia roaches are ridiculously expensive here. $1 per large roach and $0.50 per small. Happy to see that an exotic pet store even exists in Savannah though. Hope the selection grows. read more

Went in there to look around as I've always loved looking in pet stores and I especially love snakes and other reptiles. A very nice man came over and started talking about the snakes and let me hold a 5 year old ball python! He then answered all my questions about their care and was very informative and knew what he was talking about. About thirty mins later after going over everything I needed to know and have to care for a snake. I walked out with that 5 year old python and we are now very happy! Overall I had a great experience, far better than any other pet store I've been in. read more

Went to check out the store's reptiles. Generally speaking it's a small collection but larger than most of the other pet stores in the area. My biggest issue is the reptiles living conditions. Numerous reptiles had stuck shed, ball pythons were soaking in their water dish (for those who don't know Bally pythons generally don't soak, soaking is a sign of possible mites), over a dozen very young baby bearded dragons where housed together and up for sale, the adult bearded dragon that was not for sale was living in a tank wayyyyy too small (maybe 20 gallons if your lucky), and two tortoises roughly 8-10 inches in shell length were being housed together in another small tank like the bearded dragon with paper towel for substrate. read more

I love these guys. They are the ones who originally got me hooked on healthy aquariums years ago. I don't live in Savannah any more but whenever I look for an aquarium store in any other town, I try to find the one most similar to exotic underworlds. I love this pet shop for their variety, the dive-y feel, and MOST of the employees. They get two stars knocked off from me for the singular female employee at this establishment. I've been to this shop more than a dozen times since moving to Savannah, and every single time I'm in there, this woman has something condescending, rude, or snarky to say; not just to me, but to anyone in the shop. Aside from the singular unbearable employee, everyone else is extremely kind, helpful, and so knowledgeable. I won't buy fish from anywhere else, the quality at Exotic underworlds is just so much better. I love Sal, the tortoise who walks freely around the shop, and love their selection of not only pets, but aquarium decorations such as their beautiful dragon stone, and exceptional variety of aquatic plants. I would highly recommend this shop if you're looking for high-quality fish and fish accoutrement. read more

Please excuse this wordy review, but I want to give a descriptive review to provide appropriate insight for anyone considering purchasing from this shop. I bought a snake here, because they are the only local shop that I know of with snakes other than ball pythons. She was moderately over-priced at $200 for a ~10-12" female rosy boa. She was absolutely beautiful, so I paid the price. They couldn't give me much information about the snake's background, as they had purchased her from a whole seller rather than their typical breeder. I bought her (Scarlett) knowing they had no warranty, and they'd been keeping her at improper humidity levels. The staff told me to keep the humidity at 60-70%. I knew this was inaccurate due to my research. They assured me that Scarlett was healthy, as they'd had her for three months without issue. They stated she was a finicky eater and would only eat live pinkies. They hadn't fed her in 10 days, so I wanted to feed her same day. I'd bought a pinkie, but it died before I could arrive home (5 minutes away). I returned the next day and bought another, which Scarlett ate with no problem. She had a bowel movement 4-5 days later. She was a very uncoordinated/clumsy snake, which I naively contributed to her being young. I based her husbandry on hours of research from several sources. I had her in a 20 gallon long tank on aspen bedding. She had a heating pad with a thermostat set to 86F max (probe between UTH and glass). I also had a supplemental low wattage heat light to keep the warm side ambient temperature at 83-86F with a 88-90F basking spot. Cool side of the cage was 78-80F. She had a water bowl on the cool side, and the humidity was kept at 40-50% since rosy boas are a desert species. Temps were regulated by a thermostat, ambient tempo/hygrometers on each end of cage, and 2-3x/day spot check with an infrared temperature gun. I fed her again 7 days after the first (on a Friday), but she regurgitated 36 hours afterwards (on Sunday). I'd planned to attempt to feed her again Tuesday, but when I woke up in the AM, I found her dead in her cage. I went to the shop that afternoon and discussed the incident. One staff member stated she'd discuss it with her manager, and they'd give me a discount towards a future snake. I called that evening to follow-up with the manager, and he was nothing short of hateful and belittling to me. He stated he'd heard I'd overheated the snake, and that's why she'd died. I insisted this wasn't the case. I did not accuse him of selling a sick snake, but I did say it was a possibility even if he was unaware. He literally laughed at me and told me he didn't have time to discuss the issue, as he had 10 people waiting at the register. I asked him to call me the next day. The next day he called and offered a $25 discount on a future snake purchase, because he hadn't made a profit on my purchase of the rosy boa. My main complaint isn't about the money but his attitude towards the entire situation. You would think that someone in this field would be compassionate, but instead, he felt the need to speak down to me and laugh at my misfortune. It's possible that the snake was healthy when I bought her and that this was just a freak accident, but I'll never take my business back to this facility after the way I was treated. read more
