She stayed in the cephalic position but I continued acupuncture and on the week of my due date at 39+4 days I did a labor promoting session with Dr. Merritt. At 39+6 just 36 hours later, my labor started and had my baby on her due date! I was surprised because it was my first baby and I was preparing to go past my due date. My labor was easy and quick! I am so grateful for the care I got, whether I was going to go into labor naturally at 39+4 or if it was the acupuncture that got things started, coming every week the last stretch of my pregnancy really helped my nervous system and encouraged much needed rest before giving birth. I have two toddlers at home, 1 and 3 year old, and work full time as a bedside nurse. I was long overdue for a massage. I like a firm pressure to get all the knots out from my upper/lower back, especially working long 12 hour shifts on my feet. Other places that perform prenatal massages are too scared to apply pressure. I got the Blissful Mama Massage as a Mother's Day gift. I am so happy with Alison. She listened to all my needs and listened to what my body needed as far as back relief. I felt so relaxed afterwards. It was exactly what my body needed. Granted I'm here to give back to families who want children because I do not. Yet all my friends who are white and blonde and from a Caucasian background got accepted with no issues. A Miracle Story: I…read morewas 24 years old when I was diagnosed with poor ovarian reserve/prematurely diminished ovaries. Over the years, I went to: HRC Pasadena, Pacific Fertility Center, HRC Encino, and LA IVF. Each one told me I would need an egg donor, and some refused to do IVF with my own eggs. I went through 8 failed IUIs, numerous canceled cycles, and 6 failed IVFs. I was told to give up, find an egg donor, or consider adoption. Fast forward 15 years. One day, while watching The Kardashians, I heard about this doctor and decided to reach out. I traveled from Los Angeles to San Diego to meet Dr. Wood at GEN5 Fertility. Fifteen years after my first diagnosis and now in my second marriage, at 40 years old, I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with my own egg!!!! I did a PRP treatments with Dr. Wood. The doctor's name is Samuel. In the Bible, Samuel means "God heard me," and I believe God heard my cry. I truly believe he is ordained by God to help women like me. Dr. Wood's wisdom, grace, and gentle demeanor, along with his compassionate and professional staff, made me feel seen, supported, and understood. I'm writing this with a heavy heart, as after a year of working with Gen5 and having the clinic…read morehighly recommended by multiple families, I feel it's important to share my experience in hopes that it may help prevent another family from having a similar experience. I'll spare the smaller details and focus on the concerns that stood out most. First, I believe nurses should be mindful of how they respond to patients' test results and ultrasound findings. The week before our egg retrieval, we were told we had only a few follicles. While that information is important, the way it was communicated felt discouraging. IVF is about quality over quantity, and patients should be made to feel supported and hopeful, particularly during such an emotionally vulnerable process. The most difficult experience, however, was the day of our embryo transfer. This was our first time meeting Dr. Adams, and unfortunately, the interaction felt notably impersonal with zero enthusiasm. The day of a transfer should feel uplifting and hopeful, especially after everything a patient has gone through to get there. We were asked that morning to sign paperwork authorizing the disposal of embryos that would not be suitable for transfer. We found the timing of this particularly upsetting. That step could have been addressed days or weeks after what was such an important and emotional day for us. Additionally, from the beginning of our IVF process, we repeatedly and explicitly requested that the genders of our embryos not be disclosed to us. Unfortunately, the genders were not blacked out on our documentation, including the embryo being transferred that day. Discovering this unexpectedly on transfer day was extremely upsetting and could have been easily avoided had our wishes been properly documented and followed. Ultimately, these experiences have led us to decide that we will not be returning to Gen5, which is especially unfortunate because Dr. Wood is truly an exceptional physician and specialist. We found him to be thorough, knowledgeable, and one of the best aspects of our experience with the clinic.
