Couldn't be happier with the repair service I received from Experimac! I'm currently writing this review on a Macbook Air I thought I'd have to replace whole after a coffee spill. But thanks to them, I saved lots of $$ and time and have my laptop as good as what it was before. The repair and the cost: The tech (I apologize I can't remember your name... I'm terrible with names) took his time with the diagnostics in a stepwise manner, first applying a cleaning solution, and when the laptop still didn't power on, then ordered a keyboard replacement from California. Voila! It worked! Before choosing Experimac, I called other Apple-approved facilities, and from the description alone of the spill and what the computer was doing, they told me they'd replace the whole Logic board, which would have come at a much higher cost. Time: Apple Genius bar appointments were fully booked through the following week. Experimac was able to get to work right away. Communications: Excellent. Once the repair was complete, they contacted me right away. Location: Right in the heart of midtown. No need to drive to the malls to get your phones or laptops fixed. Thank you so much!!! read more

I've chatted with the owner, Ernest, quite a few times and have been impressed by his knowledge and care for customers. But when I went in recently I was less than impressed by one of his employees who helped me with my 17" MacBook Pro problem. That employee basically changed his diagnosis twice and I ended up buying a product I didn't need; in the end, after holding my computer for nearly a week, declared he couldn't help me. (for the record: Tech Genius fixed my computer in a matter of hours once we had all the needed components.) To me this was a problem of communication and I felt sort of dismissed by the whole thing. At some point, you literally cannot give a business your money. I recommend shopping around prior to approaching this store. I was very excited to have a store that could repair apple products and trade and sell so close to home. That said I walked up one day and as I proceeded up the block I noticed employees closing two hours early. Upsetting because I had planned my day around going there. Just frustrating but not a deal-breaker. I proceeded to come back the next day where I dropped off my iPhone 7 that needed a screen repaired. I also mentioned Id come back to have my iPhone XS traded-in. When I return after an hour my phone was still not fixed, and I was told I needed to have my iPhone XS removed on iCloud... I asked for advice on how I could do that. The main employee a female was very short with me and said Id have to get in touch with Apple support. Ok fine. I go home to take care of the iPhone XS I proceed to pick up my iPhone 7 where I was immediately told that the phone was no longer working. That information was brought to me forcefully and rather not very compassionate. It was difficult news to take because of some information on that phone that I needed, but I knew that was my responsibility. It was really just the lack of care or interest from one of the employees. The previous one had already told me to call Apple support. She acted like my iPhone 7 was completely destroyed and I would have to take it to a specialist to get it fixed... 1 hour later I'm at home and the Iphone7 is working completely fine. At this point I know I'm not working with the A-team. I left because I was upset regarding my phone and I wanted to try and remedy it. I decide ok it's working, yay, I'll go trade my iPhone XS for an apple watch! yay! I walk up to the store... its locked at 2 pm this time... which is fine people have to go to lunch. I walk around the city for an hour. I proceed to walk back, I walk in same employee greets me who I've already felt like has been rude to me once already today. I simply say "hey I'm here to trade this phone back in I got the other one working thankfully I just won't do a trade and spend a little money on a watch" I was then told that when I left they had taken their last phone and could not take any more phones in for the day. They couldn't take my iPhone XS for 10% of the price of its worth... that I was willing to agree on........... does any of that add up? I said ok that's fine and left politely. I was so looking forward to working with this brick and mortar in my neighborhood. I also have a MacBook Air that needs roughly $300+ worth a repair. I'll have to take it somewhere else - I can't risk all the uncertainty of this establishment. I'd also start to question the trust of the labor especially if they can't seem to execute a simple trade. read more

Used a Groupon to replace the glass screen on my iPhone 6. Overall it was a good experience from a service standpoint. However, I'm less than happy with the glass they used. First off, it's not flush around the edges of the phone. Sticks out more on one side than the other. Second, it scratches my easier than the Apple OEM glass. Thirdly, it's very hard to see with sunglasses on now for some reason. Overall it's okay for the $49 I paid via Groupon. You get what you pay for I suppose. I would definitely recommend going to the Apple Store and getting an OEM screen if you have to pay more than that. read more

Terrible. First time I went, came back and noticed the screen wasn't even popped in all the way and was elevated on bottom left corner. Then of course I dropped it and it shattered because it was sticking out of my case (and it's probably the cheapest glass ever) so I went back and got it fixed again and one day I pulled it out my pocket and the screen had just cracked from something in my pocket because once again ITS THE CHEAPEST GLASS EVER. Pay the extra money and do it proper. You'll be pleased. read more

I was in dire need of technical support for my cell phone. I recently had to switch carriers and received a new sim card. I'm heading out of town early tomorrow and need a phone. I had to take my iPhone XS Max there today when my screen developed a large vertical magenta band. They were fantastic!! Friendly and engaging they troubleshot the issues and replaced the screen, even letting me observe from a distance as I was curious as to how it was done and it was storming outside so heading out and back again would have been a pain. I was in and out in less than 45 mins. I'm very happy they are just three blocks from me. I'd recommend them without hesitation! read more

Place offered to replace my iPhone screen after it was cracked for $130, same price as apple store. After asking for a discount they gave me 10% off. Took them 90 minutes to replace it. Instantly when they handed me the phone back I could tell they put a generic screen on. Color horrible, screen responsive horrible. Had to go back the next day and have them take it off and refund me. Then they lost my screen protector and didn't even give me another. This place is obviously scamming people that don't know any better and replacing broken screens with low quality generic parts and charging the same price as the genuine part the Apple store provides for repairs. I got my first macbook pro from here! It's an older refurbished model from 2012 but the specs were very good and the laptop is in great condition for the price, I paid at least $600 for it. I always wanted a macbook but I just couldn't afford to pay over $1,000 for one. The people that worked there were very professional and answered all of my questions regarding my purchase. My laptop works in excellent condition with NO PROBLEMS and looks brand new with no scratches or marks on it. My only small complaint is that when they gave me my laptop, they just put it in a small bag without any type of packaging or anything. So basically if I made the wrong move or I tripped or fell with it walking to my car , the laptop would pretty much be damaged. Nonetheless though my experience was great! read more

Experimac replaced the keyboard in my MacBook Pro but, when I got the computer home, I noticed that the cursor keys weren't seated properly. They were barely sticking through the case. I brought the computer back and they improved the situation but I still wasn't satisfied. So, they ordered another keyboard and upper case and, after a LONG delay due to problems at FedEx that frustrated both me and Experimac, they replaced the keyboard and upper case and the computer worked like new. The keyboard feels great and I'm making less typos. I'm a happy customer. read more

Mac power cables over time get really frayed. I ordered one from Apple. It was the wrong type. That's ok--I have a different style Macbook whose power cable was also becoming frayed. I ordered another. It was the right kind but it didn't work! I brought it in to see if was my computer or the cable. It was the cable--which they had in stock. No waiting for delivery either. Then the next week I was trying to play DVDs on my Macbook but it was ejecting them. They cleaned the DVD drive slot pro bono and now it works. read more

I dropped my iPhone 6 Plus on tiled floor and lets say the screen shattered even with one of those non breaking screen protectors. I procrastinated getting it fixed then decided today was the day. I called Experimac at about 5:40 and asked if they could fix my screen today. They let me know if I was there by 6pm they could have it to me in 30 minutes. So I jumped in an Uber and arrived right on time. The process was simple just gave them the details, my info and I took a seat and waited for my screen to be repaired. The workers were friendly and kept me abreast on the progress of my repair. They even let me know I had some water damage-wont get into that story-LOL 30 minutes later my phone was ready. I asked them about fixing my iMac and changing a battery in my iPad and both were not an issue. I really liked this shop, no street or pressure. You can also purchase refurbished phones and computer as well a new accessories for you gadgets. I paid $129 to get my screen fixed which is a lot cheaper than other places. I will be returning in the the next week to get my other apple products repaired. read more

The service was quick and my phone is no longer cracked which is about all I have to say that's positive. My screen calibration now sucks. every couple hours I have to do a hard reset because I become unable to slide, scroll, tap, swipe, etc. to the point where my phone is legitimately useless. My camera app doesn't work sometimes (although the camera will operate just fine in snapchat) and the front-facing flash on snapchat is now blue instead of yellow? The glass protrudes from the phone instead of laying flat as well. I believe there's a 90-day warranty which I will definitely be taking advantage of but it would have been nice if they could have just done it correctly the first time... read more

I have been a Mac user (iPhone, MacBook Pro, and iPad) for four years and I admit that I love the products. Suddenly (it seems like it was sudden) my MacBook Pro started processing extremely slow with the battery dying within an hour. I was lost at what to do, after I searched on the internet and watched many YouTube videos. Then one Sunday morning as I was walking through midtown, which is one of my favorite peaceful relaxing activities, I noticed this business (Experimac) and that the speciality focused on Mac products. The next day I took my MacBook Pro to this location and was immediately greeted by professional staff who seemed genuinely concerned about my laptop. After the diagnosis, I was presented with several options with the pros and cons along with the associated costs. I did some investigation and it showed that the 'ideal' option that Experimac presented was indeed the 'ideal' option and the price was very competitive (the lowest). When I called for updates on the repair, the staff knew who I was, knew my product, and knew the status of the repair, seemingly without looking (as the responses were immediate). I was impressed as it seemed as if I was getting personalized service. I highly recommend this business (Experimac on Peachtree Street). read more

The front desk said they thought my keyboard was broken but they wouldn't charge me until they confirmed that. Then they installed a new keyboard, charged me $140 for it, I went home, tried the computer, the keys still were not working, came back, they tried it with a different user account, keys worked, then they said it was just a software problem and not the keyboard, wanted to charge me to reinstall the operating system now, then I asked about the charge for the useless keyboard replacement and they had to bring a manager out before they agreed to credit me for the $140 charge. There was the appearance of dishonesty in that they said they would troubleshoot to determine if the repair was needed before replacing the keyboard but they did not, and then when it turned out they were in error they didn't take responsibility for it. I wasn't going to write this review but since I've gotten a nagging email a day requesting I write a review I am writing it now. I'll post it to yelp and google as well since I've put in the effort.
