After two months of repairs and improvements, I thought everything was ready to go - until I started taking photos and realized the gas-log fireplaces were in need of cleaning and resetting. In a bit of a panic, I turned to Yelp (as owners of my previous fireplace maintenance company had retired) and chose Fireplace 911 - in part due to their positive online reviews, and also to help support a local business. Initially, I was happy to be flexible. We had a Tuesday appointment that they needed to reschedule due to a technician's family emergency. I completely understand that life happens and was happy to accommodate them. However, the experience went downhill quickly from there: * Reschedule #1: We moved the appointment to Friday at 11:00 AM. * Reschedule #2: On the day of, they requested to move the 11:00 AM slot to 2:00 PM. I agreed. * The No-Show: They failed to arrive at 2:00 PM and did not show up until 5:00 PM. This was not just a personal inconvenience; this was for an investment property with a tenant waiting. Because of this company's poor time management and lack of communication, I was forced to apologize repeatedly to my tenant for the delay. I contacted Chimney and Fireplace Leonel after they left a flyer at my parents house. I have my…read morechimney cleaned every year, and decided to give them a shot. They responded right away, and began cleaning the chimney. I asked how it looked, and they said it was very dirty. This should have been my first clue, because, like I said, I clean my fireplace every year and I only used the fireplace about ten times last year. I brushed it off as exaggeration and they finished up. They mentioned to me that my chimney cap and spark arrestor needed to be replaced because they were bent and rusted, and were letting water into the chimney. I trusted them and told them to go ahead with the repairs since I did not want to go up two tall stories to check it out. They came today and did the repairs. When they lowered the cap and spark arrestor, I noticed there was no rusting at all, and the parts were not bent. I confronted them and they could not reply with anything logical and went as far as to say animals were getting into the chimney from the mesh around the spark arrestor. I told them we never had any animals in the chimney to which he changed his tune to well animals could get in. Bottom line is that they didn't know that I'm a contractor. I use to install Marco fireplaces back in the 90's. Same prefabricated type of system. They were not truthful thinking I wouldn't check the pieces when they came down. This was really stupid of them considering that I would have recommended them to my friends with cabins up in Wrightwood and Pine Mtn. Club. I will make sure the word gets spread about these guys. Apparently the son has taken the business over from his father, I wonder if the father will be happy about this?

From our initial contact to communication about arrival time, Jeremy was courteous. He came out with Jason and they were both pleasant. Jeremy evaluated my fireplace and told me why they couldn't do a chimney sweep. I'm a total idiot not realizing that my fireplace is a self contained system. But Jeremy never made me feel bad. Instead, he explained very clearly what kind of system I have and how I can carefully clean it myself. And he did this all with no charge. He wouldn't take a service fee. I know he and Jason must've travelled a good distance to get to me but Jeremy said he didn't do any work for me and could not charge me.
