We hired Ivan's Masonry for two jobs: driveway renovation and a new stairway with walkway. From onset it was a long journey for us figuring out what material we will be comfortable with. Ivan patiently consulted us on every available material: concrete, stamping, coloring, and many styles from different providers of concrete pavers. None really resonated with our vision. After a month of research we ended up selecting clay pavers for their traditional look and lasting quality. The problem was that no contractor in our area would even consider working with clay pavers. Initially Ivan also refused but with some prodding he actually agreed to install clay pavers and did an amazing job. The team would start consistently punctually at 7 am and worked full days. Ivan, the owner, would work on the job 100%, including operating the equipment and setting the pavers. The site was kept reasonably clean and the process was well organized. We love the results. Our house became the model for the street as a first house with pavers. Many people complimented on the improvements and expressed the desire to contract with Ivan's Masonry. Then they pressured into signing day of, for an $8k discount or so. Pressure under time - never buy into it. Then they started calling. "Can get you this deal if you agree to do the worth between x months." It literally went down to $28k by the time I had to tell them I went with someone else. They only do pavers. Any additional work would need a different contractor to complete the work. Something as simple as capping an exterior gas line, demo of existing structure etc. they just weren't a fit for our project and what we needed.

I wanted a typical construction driveway removed and replaced; 6 x 6 inch wire mesh, crushed gravel base compacted, more joints than usual, etc. Alex was responsive and left the jobsite a little bit cleaner than when they arrived. From the beginning they were on time and 'as promised'. He provided a bid/contract ON PAPER and has a very useable website which can be accessed from a qr-code on the extra large glossy business card. For grins I went on the CSLB website to look up his contractor's license number. The listing for Alex was squeaky clean with everything in order! He takes charge cards as well. Couldn't be happier with the job they did and the way they did it. From initial contact to the last vehicle left the property, care was taken with the movement of construction equipment and wash out after the pour was complete. I will definitely have these guys back to do more of my concrete work in the future.

I just remodeled my home and wanted to make sure I properly cleaned the ducts from any fine construction dust that may have made its way inside. I was able to get a quote for $350 from another company but allowed others to come in the meantime as many required an "inspection" before offering a solid quote. MA Professional was the first to show up. Their tech came in, climbed in the attic, counted the vents, and gave me a price of $600. I told him I had to go with the best quote of $350 which included all the ducts and they would also clean up the ac unit in the attic. He negotiated HARD for me to meet him in the middle but I was firm about going with the other company. Eventually he agreed to match the price and service of the other company. He got to work. The equipment was minimal. A shop vac and a drill, extension bit, and a brush at the end. He went to work with his drill. Had the World Cup on while doing but I didn't really mind. I asked if the vacuum goes into the vent at all but he said that the vacuum was just to clean up any mess coming down from the vent. Idk I felt like his brush wouldn't get the dust I was worried about but I trusted it would be enough. Towards the end of the job he unfortunately dropped one of the vents. I'm in the middle of a remodel so he dropped it on top of my new kitchen cabinets, no stone on them so fell right on the wood. He looked nervous so I assured him it was fine, I was willing to overlook any damage. People make mistakes. He finished up with the ducts and I asked about the ac unit cleaning and suddenly it was "something we had not agreed on". There was back and forth but I honestly didn't care anymore at this point, I knew I got hustled and just said that we'd agree to disagree and the review he made me promise I'd give I said I wouldn't be writing anymore. UNFORTUNATELY, a few days later when we came to install the kitchen cabinets (mind you the home is not currently lived in), we found a crack in the NEW drywall on the ceiling. In the couple minutes he was up there, he somehow managed to crack the ceiling. I had to drop almost $300 to fix it. Gonna have to pay $15 to $20 for the new vent. And no idea how much the touch ups will cost for the two pieces of my kitchen he dropped the vent on. I asked them to send me a new vent and compensate me for the drywall repairs. Sent them pictures of what used to be NEW vents and drywall and they said "As a goodwill gesture and without any admission of liability or wrongdoing, we are willing to offer a one-time courtesy credit of $100 to close this matter in full. This offer is made solely as a customer service accommodation and should not be interpreted as an acceptance of responsibility for the alleged damages." This is the AI copy and paste "goodwill" you can expect from this "business". I tried calling the number that was texting me and no answer. What could have been a simple $350 cleaning ended up costing me almost $600 in the end. Goes to show you should do business with someone who only has 3 reviews on their profile. Save your time, money, and house from getting damaged by these amateurs.

From that point on, I was given excuse after excuse, lies, and often ghosted. This went on for 3 months. Aaron claimed the parts were on backorder. Finally after 3 months of patiently waiting and dealing with his BS, I called the appliance company myself to check the inventory of parts needed and everything was in stock and had been. I immediately followed up with Aaron again for the status, just to see what he would say, and again he lies, telling me parts are still on backorder and because 'the company is overseas, communication with them isn't the easiest'. I knew that to be an absolute lie since I had just got off the phone with the parts department and the company has a US 1-800 number with a perfect english speaking person. I asked him some additional questions and he ghosted entirely. At that point I contacted my credit card company for a refund and I never heard from Aaron again. I then called another company and they came out and had my appliance repaired within a week, parts on hand! I'm sure if he sees this, he'll reply some lame excuses or a false story as he has done with others. But at least you've been warned.

Whereas the old system sounded like a jet engine taking off, the new Mitsubishi is astonishingly quiet, the condenser is outside our bedroom and you hear literally nothing. It works flawlessly and has been keeping the house perfectly cool through what's shaping up to be a hot summer. This was not an easy install either. The house, like many older homes, is full of quirks and Diamond did an amazing job working around all the pitfalls that come with squeezing a central HVAC system into a house not originally designed for one. The people working there were so nice and helpful. They did not try to upsell me or make me spend more money than I had. In fact they did the opposite and helped me find something that was very economical for my budget. The place is impressive because they have a huge yard filled with all kinds of different rocks. They have everything from volcanic rocks to ones that look like they belong in Red Rock. They also have huge piles where you can haul rocks away in a truck for larger projects. I could not believe that they even sell giant boulders there. This is definitely my new favorite place for any rock or gardening projects. Steve and Louis spent three days restoring the brickwork of my 1927 Ontario brick Tudor bungalow house, some of which was falling apart (and was shifted from quakes in some places). They had to match hard-to-find gold-colored mortar. They did the same for the brick garage. The end result was perfect, as Louis is an expert mason and a student of old brickwork of all sorts. A coat of invisible sealer went on top of the work, so the house now looks like it was built 10 years ago, not 82. Steve also took a bag and half of black soot out of our fireplace and chimney (the original job) and also resealed the chimney outside and fireplace inside, and put up fire-resistant mortar to realign the flow in the interior of the gas/wood fireplace flue. In the end we got a huge number of fireplace and brick masonry related jobs done, really well. They even cleaned up after themselves really well. If you're looking for such stuff (any brick and chimney stuff in any condition, including destroyed), I highly recommend Chim Chimney. read more

We scheduled an inspection, and he confirmed the appointment the day before and kept me updated when he was on his way. Tobi was easy to communicate with and very thorough. He went into the attic and confirmed there was no water leaking through the chimney. He even stood outside in light rain to investigate the source of the dripping sound. He determined that the noise was actually water dripping from the chase cover's drip edge onto the metal flashing, which amplified the sound and made it seem like there was a leak. When I asked about replacing the chase cover, he provided a quote without any pressure. Tobi is honest and does not try to upsell services that aren't needed. Great insight especially when it comes to our chimney. We had issues with the chimney cap and the flashing in addition to the more routine elements of cleaning the interior smoke conduit. California Chimney Sweep was fantastic! They made a prompt appointment and arrived on time. All of our conversations were pleasant and all of our questions were thoroughly and politely answered. The inspection revealed a number of issues that required attention. Potential sources of water intrusion were meticulously sealed. The area inside in front of the chimney was carefully draped to catch any debris and then a vacuum device was placed in the area. Nothing escaped into the room while the chimney was carefully cleaned. As the work was done they even noted an area around one of our windows adjacent to the exterior chimney that also could be a source water intrusion and suggested that we look into having that area sealed. We were so grateful for their helpful and careful approach to our issues. California Chimney Sweep went above and beyond expectations and did a fantastic job taking care of our chimney issues!

John was able to clean our fireplace, fix a hole that was in the gas line (so grateful we never tried turning it on once he told us what he found!), and cleaned everything so when he rearranged the frame & logs, it would be easy for us to maintain. Overall I was pretty disappointed. -in the end they wouldn't even send me a written report or copies of the pics they took. -while on-site they really pressured me to agree to a bunch of repairs. Their repairs were also expensive. For example- they wanted $300+ to put some high heat mortar on the back side of my fireplace opening. This actually needed to be done but it was a tiny job. When I said I'd do it myself the vendor implied I was incapable without knowing I do small jobs like that all the time. I ended up doing the job myself for about $10 in materials and 30 mins of my time. -they told me my chimney needed a deep cleaning. Yet, unknown to them the chimney had been cleaned the week before. I asked them a few times- are you sure I need a cleaning?" Overall just not a great experience.

But Jeremy was the only one that I could verify is a licensed and certified by CSIA (Chimney Service Institute of America). From our initial contact to communication about arrival time, Jeremy was courteous. He came out with Jason and they were both pleasant. Jeremy evaluated my fireplace and told me why they couldn't do a chimney sweep. I'm a total idiot not realizing that my fireplace is a self contained system. But Jeremy never made me feel bad. Instead, he explained very clearly what kind of system I have and how I can carefully clean it myself. And he did this all with no charge. He wouldn't take a service fee. I know he and Jason must've travelled a good distance to get to me but Jeremy said he didn't do any work for me and could not charge me. So they didn't do a chimney sweep for me but based on my interactions with this company, I would say they are reliable, prompt, and trustworthy. I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend that needed this service.
