My nephew and I had a great stay at Explorer Cabins in West Yellowstone and would happily stay there again. The cabins were comfortable in size, extremely clean, and very well set up for a Yellowstone trip. The kitchenette was especially useful for us, and having a dishwasher was a great bonus. The location really could not be beat -- it was very close to the West Yellowstone entrance, which helped us avoid a lot of traffic and made it easy to structure our days in the park. We were able to see the upper part of Yellowstone one day, the lower part another day, and then use the rest of our time to revisit and explore the places we wanted to see more deeply. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful, which added to the overall experience. Another nice touch was the fire pits, which they turned on around 5 p.m. each evening. It was a fun and relaxed way to meet some of the other people staying at the cabins. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. Comfortable cabins, a great location, friendly staff, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommended. read more

Explorer Cabins is part of the Gray Wolf Inn & Suites Hotel. It's located in West Yellowstone, a short drive into Yellowstone via the West Gate. It's walking distance to everything in town - shops, restaurants, groceries. It is across the street from the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center (great for a rainy day or a break from the part). You can't beat the location. It is very close to the Museum of Yellowstone. It's next door to a McDonald's (yes there is a McDonald's in West Yellowstone!). I considered getting a two-bedroom suite at the Hotel, with a full kitchen before I decided on the cabin. The cabin had a bit more space and some privacy. This stay was for 3 adults (myself, my husband, and our adult son). Cabin #17. We stayed for a week mid-September. The cabin was well maintained, and the one issue we had, was fixed the same day (while we were out of the cabin). The kitchen is small. The refrigerator is a mini-undercounter type, so don't over buy food that needs refrigeration. There is plenty of cabinet space for dry goods. There is a cooktop with two burners and a tea kettle. Perfect for quick breakfast! There is also a coffee make (drip type). Some pots and pans (see photos). Plates mugs and glasses. Full set of flatware with Openers. Cooking Utensils. Toaster. An ice maker, that was very nice and we used it. Small dishwasher. There is dining table/chairs. You have a sofa, chair, large coffee table and TV trays. The TV trays were older, very heavy and hard to negotiate. We decided to just stick with the coffee table. The beds were very comfortable (one King and one Queen). Both had closets. Bathroom had a very small vanity but several cabinets to store our stuff. Definitely only one at a time in the bathroom, just too small. The sofa is a sofa bed, but I can't imagine putting more bodies into this smaller space, even kids. Housekeeping stopped by most days and we just asked for what we needed. We didn't need much other than towels. Staff was very friendly and helpful along with the front desk staff when we checked in and out. There is a fire pit outside that gets lit every night (including when it's raining) with chairs surrounding the pit. The rooms are stocked with S'more Kits (more available at the front desk) and that was a nice touch. We did make S'mores one night! Definitely if you are traveling with kids they will enjoy the firepit and S'mores! The cabin was pricey especially since this was Shoulder not High season considering the size. However, there isn't many other options. We liked being a short walk into town, and believe it or not we even went to McDonald's! read more

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with friends because we ride our bikes into Yellowstone. The cabin is so cute with a big front window which lets in lots of light. A gas fireplace that made it so cozy. They provided s'mores already in the room in little paper bags enough for 6 people! There is a huge gas fire-pit outside to enjoy. Our friends brought their dog and the front desk person gave them a dog bag with treats and such. Very thoughtful. 2 rooms one with king size bed and one with a queen. Pretty comfortable. The cabin is right in town to we walked to dinner. ( Not a lot open in April the place was a ghost town!) I would definitely stay here again. read more

We had a fabulous family vacation in the cabins over Christmas. Our families rented three of the pet friendly two bedroom cabins. It is terrific location. Within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, etc. Staff did a good job clearing snow from sidewalks and steps. We loved the outdoor fire pit. A few things that could have been better: no forks in kitchen, poor quality toilet paper, and gas fireplaces kept going out. read more

I've been meaning to visit Yellowstone and for the past 2 years of keeping a draft of my itinerary, I knew I had to stay here at Explorer Cabins. The hotels and motels in the area seem dicey...with some of them being too pricey for their condition. This place is cute for glamping if that's your jam. Pricier than most places in Yellowstone but you get what you pay for. They have fire pits right outside the cabin, and the front desk will give you supplies for s'mores. They have animal-proof trash chutes. It's safe - I ran early in the morning during my stay and had no concerns about safety. It's close to restaurants and shops but in a quiet area. Bath & Body Works toiletries, small flat-screen TV, dishwasher and kitchen with all the supplies and equipment you need if you want to stay in and cook instead. Bed was comfy. It was such a nice place to come home to after a whole day of hiking and exploring with a pup. Check-in and check-out is at the Gray Wolf Hotel within walking distance which was a bit confusing as it was not stated when I made the reservations. read more

Mess of a stay! We booked in advance at a rate of $545 but when we arrived - 'cabin' rates were as low as $300 per night. We spoke to the front desk clerk and were told they would adjust. THEY HAVE NOT. I'm on my fifth call to the management (Craig & Cinden) without return calls. The front desk staff recognizes my voice. I'm ready to refute the charge on my credit card instead. The direct number for the location is always uber busy - which is an indication they have the phone off the hook. Upon arrival, we attempted to connect to WiFi - and it wasn't working. They have a direct line on the room phones for WiFi assistance. The individual that answered indicated they don't provide support for the Explorer Cabins any longer. We anticipated a cabin based on the description - but no, we shared a wall with a family that had littles, and unfortunately they had trouble sleeping, so as a result, so did we. The thin walls didn't allow any sleep for anyone. The pictures of the cabin online also show a fireplace inside the unit, however, it's misleading and inaccurate. For a location with a kitchenette, you would think there would be a table, or at a minimum chairs. Nope! One arm chair, and TV Trays to fold out and eat off. The bathroom door squeaked and didn't open far enough for a wheelchair, and there were no grab bars in the bathroom, or shower for safety. Thankfully Yellowstone didn't disappoint, but Explorer Cabins barely deserve the one star provided. My recommendation would be to avoid this location for multiple reasons including those listed above. read more

**** INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE **** Please save yourselves the money and disrespect as a valued customer. We traveled from Houston for the the week and decided to book a 2-night stay at Explorer Cabins at Yellowstone. Upon check-in, the service was wretched with Kaitlyn, being completely joyless, lacking warmth or any sign of being welcoming, and very much snarky in interacting with her. We checked into our cabin, Cabin #3 at Washburn Camp, and that night... my 2 and 5 year olds were playing in the cabin and came to me with: a dirty sock left behind from their cleaning service, a used ear plug, and a beer bottle cap -- ABSOLUTELY GROTESQUE. I immediately called the front office and asked to speak to the manager. Kaitlyn responded with a, "management has gone home for the day..." while I proceeded to explain to her my disappointment in the cleanliness of the cabin upon our arrival. She quickly turned the switch and put me on the phone with Cody, manager. He was apologetic and assured me he would send over cleaning in the morning while we went to the park for the day, which we did... and upon arriving back at the hotel around 6 pm -- we walk into the cabin, and it was just as we left it -- in need of vacuuming, the beds not made (assuming they would come clean for us), no fresh towels, and crumbs still left on our coffee table from the kids eating breakfast in the living room, and worst... both trash cans full of trash from our stay with littles. I called the front office and requested for the manager again, and they put me on the phone with Cody, supervisor. He was completely useless and indifferent to me explaining to him the absolute disappointment with their lack of customer service and cleanliness. The only thing he offered was a fresh pair of towels!!! For the amount of money spent on this stay, I would stay in Bozeman, an absolute gem, if not... somewhere else! The lack of customer service at Explorer Cabins is UNBELIEVABLY APPALLING!!! Completely unprofessional and undeserving of business with the lack of attention these particular individuals offered during our stay. The bathroom toilet smelled of urine, the bathroom sink wouldn't drain, there was mold all over the restroom shower, and the bedrooms weren't properly vacuumed. I am not one to write such horrible reviews unless necessary, and I am sharing this with other customers because we are absolutely disappointed at this moment. read more

These little gems are some of the cutest and most comfortable places I have ever stayed. The Explorer Cabins are dog friendly which is a plus in my book. They have outdoor fire pits for making s'mores in the evenings, although I would recommend against using the short sticks provided. At 4pm it's free Ice Cream as well! The cabins are around the corner from the West entrance to Yellowstone and a block or two away from Downtown where you will find many places to eat and shop. Across the street was the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. We had a queen/queen cabin. It was comfortable but it really needed a small table for dining instead of the TV trays. Fully equipped kitchen, nice front patio with a small end table and 2 chairs. Unfortunately, our cabin was the only one in our grouping that was connected to another cabin and you could easily hear the other guests. They should install better doors for sound proofing. From my understanding, the king rooms have a sofa and coffee table which is what I would prefer. The bathroom was a nice size with a full shower. While we did not use it, the Gray Wolf lodge next door had the complimentary breakfast and also had free laundry facilities. Even with a couple of things I feel they could improve on, I give this place 5 stars and I will recommend them and will most definitely stay here again. read more

[857] 12/20/2018 This has to be my favorite place to stay at .. EVER~. Checked in at the Gray Wolf Inn and Suites Price was reasonable. We stayed in a cabin which was perfect in the December cold. We had a huge cabin with two big comfy beds. The cabin had: Kitchen with granite counters, dishes, pots, pans, dishwasher, sink, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and cleaning items (dish detergent, paper towels and hand towels). The bathroom was huge with beautiful upgrades. The safe is large. We left it open with our valuables and came back in the evening to find all our items were not touched (great feeling). The room has a ton of cool touches like: Wolf stuffed animal (assumed it was free as my 9 year old loved it) Walking stick Binoculars playing cards bathrobes tons of Yellowstone books (even some I saw for sale in the local store) note book (empty inside so we took it as well). games Smores kits (new bag with items each day) tea kettle 4 cool coffee mugs scale (yikes) chairs to sit outside on the porch of our cabin. Fire pit on all night and day. One of our favorite places to hang out in the 20 degree cold. Plenty of parking. The area is near town so we walked to dining places, tour places, IMAX theater, Grizzy and Wolf Discovery Center, souvenir shopping, McDonalds and a museum. We did not use the pool as hubby said it was small plus we had so many cool outdoor actives to do since cabin is next to Yellowstone. The cabin is also near the snowmobile trails. The hotel has a buffet which is not for the cabins which is fine. We stopped in for coffee which was not a big deal. I'll definitely be back. We really loved this place. read more

I'd come back! Private, roomy, thoughtful stay & in a great position! It's in a little "cabin village" very close to Yellowstone. Our cabin had 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen (even a dishwasher). Perfect for any season because you can just cook at home and hangout by the fire. They also gave us s'mores kits and a wonderful little tree that we have to plant when we go home.Once we let them know that we planted it, they'll plant a new one. There are hot tubs and outdoor fire pits for guests. Bathroom had Bed,Bath&Beyond products which I appreciate cause they smell great! I'd definitely stay here again. read more

Loved this place!! Such a cozy spot to spend an evening in West Yellowstone. The bed was extremely comfortable and the fireplace was an added benefit after a long day of snowmobiling. Rather than go out to dinner that evening, we enjoyed the cabin so much, we decided to order pizza and stay in. The fire pit is on all season - ended up falling asleep before I could make a s'more . Absolutely the best thing in West Yellowstone! Although the kitchen area was small, my wife was still was able to cook a complete Christmas dinner consisting of a full ham, mashed potatoes veggies and desert. The two bedrooms provided space for us and the kid. They were always coming around and shoveling the snow away from the door and path to the cars. Great people and great company. Sitting by the fireplace at night watching a movie, great. S'mores at night by the camp fire great. We will be returning UPDATE 6/6/2020 We have stayed here often and will continue to do so. Conveniently located just minutes from Yellowstone Park. One and two bedroom units with a kitchen, living area, etc. it like your own little piece of heaven. They have large fire pits and offer free s'mores that you can do over the open fire. They offer lots of free yes such as walking sticks, use of binoculars, maps, etc. a great place to stay and relax. Each unit is fully furnished with plenty of towels, dishes, tv, fireplace, fridge, and dishwasher. We have stayed both summer and winter. If you can't stay in the park, this is the next best thing. Easy walk to the Wolf and Grizzly Discovery Center as well as the local shopping and restaurant areas. read more

Had ample space for relaxation after a long day exploring the park. We stayed here for 5 nights in a 2 BR and we couldn't have been any more satisfied! The location was premium right outside the park walking distance to discovery center and downtown. Inside the cabin we were greeted with 2 s'more kits, a on/off fire place and kitchenette to do whatever cooking we needed. There are also TV trays which you can use to eat or work out your laptops. Everyone that worked here were so friendly and courteous especially Zach (the one that works breakfast) and the young gentleman who fixed our bedroom tv. When we asked for trash pick up or any services they came within lightning speed under 10 minutes (felt more like under 5). We highly recommend this place for your stay at Yellowstone! read more

This is the second time we've stayed at the Explorer Cabins - and we are staying longer this time because we enjoy it so much. The cabins are top notch. They're a perfect getaway with comfortable beds. The two bedroom cabin has two bathrooms (definite score if you've got traveling companions), and a kitchenette. There's a fire pit outside for making s'mores. And this year, they have e-bikes for riding around town even if you're elevation challenged. The staff is kind and helpful. Everything is clean and sanitized. Can't think of a thing that would make it better, except maybe a moose wandering through so I could take a picture from my deck chair.... read more

Quite luxurious for a cabin! We stayed at three different cabins throughout our trip. This included the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, Canyon Lodge, and this one which was pretty much in the city. We cancelled the rooms for Yellowstone Lodge. We were supposed to stay there for the last two days. The receptionist there looked like a giant hairball with hair all over her clothes. To us, that was a red-flag. So we ended up booking this one for the whole family. We had the opportunity to check the rooms before purchasing. I don't think I've had that experience anywhere else. It's usually okay good luck hope you like it and if you don't too bad! These cabins were viciously nice. They seemed to have everything. They just opened in July of this year! Our cabin included: *An attached shoe scrubber near the front door *A hallway that led to two bedrooms and one bathroom *A kitchen complete with sink, cupboards, microwave, stove, and fridge *A living room with large sofa and a fireplace *Heater and air-conditioning *A little fire pit in the front porch *WiFi access *Two flat screen TVs with cable channels The air-conditioner was crazy loud. I really thought I was next to the Upper Falls. The bed was super comfortable and the blankets were poofy and fluffy. Overall, this is a very nice cabin! Cute place. The location is perfect. Right outside of the west entrance of Yellowstone. Walking distance to the shops and foods and bar section of town as well. The room itself is spacious, studio apartment vibes. the bathroom is spacious, the bed was comfortable. I love the deck and the chairs outside as well as the fire pits and the chairs in the common areas. The reason why I did not give five stars is because the check in process is a little misleading since you check in at the Wolf Lodge and also the closet in the bathroom had a terrible icy draft that we had to stuff with bath towels to try and keep the chill out at night. read more

I read all the reviews and knew what to expect with the location....and the parking lot next door. The problems are we are paying close to 3000 for 6 nights and not only is the place filthy with hair in the drawers, disgusting fridge with spilled soda inside and a brown gunked up freezer, the side deck is literally falling off the side of the building and completely unsafe and not structurally sound. To top it all off the handle fell off the faucet in the shower leading to and ice cold shower then turned scalding hot when I tried to turn it off. The maintenance man was wearing a mask below his nose and didn't even bring the right tools. Again, for the $3000 we are paying it is not even close to being worth that. A horrible way to start our week here! Now we find out that according to the maintenance guy he cannot fix the faucet and said most of the cabins have issues with the faucets and they all need to be replaced. So zero solutions. Great place to stay--specially during Covid-19. A while cabin to ourselves! Our location didn't have a fireplace in front of our unit, but we were right across the swimming pool and that was a perk for our family. The management reserves 1-hour blocks for the swimming pool and hot tub, so no worries about having to share with others. We slept really well and I have no complaints except for the pull-out bed . Our kids slept on the floor because it was more comfortable than the mattress they had. read more

Given the lodging options, I tried to get the best option for my family of 4 (2 young kids) and I believe this 2-bedroom cabin was that given the option of being inside Yellowstone with no wi-fi versus West Yellowstone, which meant more driving to get in and out of the park. This was definitely the better call. Great location just a few minutes from the West entrance to Yellowstone. Close to the super cute downtown of West Yellowstone. We were there during Covid so fewer amenities. Pool and hot tub still open, but they're indoors. Awesome for winter and kids had a blast, but would prefer outdoor pool/hot tub. No dining room in the cabin, which I was surprised by. They did have TV trays, which was a funny throw back to my childhood. Beds were comfy enough. Shower was nice with good water pressure. Campfire right outside our cabin. Overall, a very good stay. read more

Nice surprise. We had trouble finding a room this late in the season (mid-October) and took a chance on this place. The word 'cabin' usually raises my suspicions, having had funky 'cabin' experiences in the past. But these are awesome! Our cabin was situated in a private courtyard surrounded by a dozen or so other cabins. In the center of the courtyard was a fire pit (running all night) and community seating area. Our cabin had a front porch with easy chairs, a gas fireplace, kitchen, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a large living room. It was more like a 'house' than a 'cabin'. All new construction, clean, and well-appointed. We will definitely stay here again. PS. Did I mention that they provide binoculars, hiking sticks, and yoga mats? read more

This place was a fabulous find and the perfect way to relax with the family after a 14 hour drive. Everything exceeded our expectations. Staff was welcoming and friendly at check-in being observant of their audience by offering entertainment options relevant to the group in front of them. We were initially planning to get on the road early but with their suggestions we had a really enjoyable time slowing the pace and sticking around for a minute. The cabins themselves had all the comforts of a hotel with the bonus of having our own space to stretch out. Exactly what we needed. They thought of everything...hot cocoa, apple cider, a kid's book, yoga mat, binoculars, and walking sticks at our disposable. The fire pit S'mores were a huge win giving the little one the chance to get outside even with a late arrival. We also had access to the hotel amenities: breakfast, pool, etc. Prices are super reasonable during the off season. I definitely felt the value exceeded the cost. If you have the option, I'd go with the cabins that are lined in a half circle around the community fire pits. I will note that, I typically prefer to be more remote. The cabins are right downtown and so much more relaxing than a standard hotel roadtrip stop. However, don't be confused. If you are looking to sleep in the great outdoors, you'll want something different. I also haven't thought of Yellowstone as being a winter destination but my tone has changed. They are close to the parks entrance if your not staying in Yellowstone it's convenient to the parks gates. Staff is very friendly and they offer a s'mores kit for each cabin, free ice cream daily. These are the cutest and most conveniently located cabins if you are visiting West Yellowstone. They are located just across the street from the Visitor Center and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and a few blocks from the downtown with plenty of dining options. This place is a GEM! We stay here because they allow pets here and it is hands down the best place to stay! Not only are the cabins adorable, with walking sticks and binoculars for you to use...but there is a smores kit to use by the outdoor fire pits that go on automatically every evening and you can sit by the fire and enjoy the outdoors. The set up of the cabins is really great, and you feel like you are at a luxury resort. The rooms are appointed very well, with a great little kitchenette, adorable coffee cups and more! The front porch is so fun to sit on if the weather allows, and you are able to walk to town from here and all over! West Yellowstone is that BEST area to stay in if you are visiting Yellowstone and Explorer Cabins is the BEST place to stay! read more

I LOVED this place and never wanted to leave!!!! We had SUCH a nice time here, and I can't say enough about it. Sadly, we could only get in one night, but I am grateful for that one night, and it was really great. I was sad to leave. Like most, we were in the middle of a Yellowstone vacation. When we first pulled up, I was super disappointed because unlike what I envisioned in my head, this "cabin" was NOT in the middle of the woods, under the stars. It was, in fact, in the middle of town in West Yellowstone. I'd never been to Yellowstone before, so I thought "West yellowstone" was part of the actual park. I envisioned still being in the park/woods. This hotel/cabins are on a regular road, in town, with cabins one after another. You check-in at a hotel directly across the street. After seeing that it was just in town, I was scared to go into the unit, thinking that all my other hopes for this place would be dashed, too. But, happily, I was very wrong. Once we approached our cabin, we noticed how absolutely adorable they were. They each have a nice little porch, with two chairs to sit and relax. Upon walking in, the first thing you notice is how CLEAN the unit is, and that everything is appointed very nicely. Very pretty, very upscale, and QUALITY. Upon entering, there's a cute little living room (with a couch big enough for maybe 3), a fireplace, and large flat-screen tv, and kitchenette (mini-fridge, stove, micro, couple cabinets, mini-dishwasher, etc). The kitchen was also appointed with all the necessities - silverware, dish soap, utensils, glasses, etc. So you didn't need to think about anything! They take care of it all. Upon walking down the short hall, there is a beautiful bathroom, with party-shower (maybe big enough for 3 people) and a very nice-sized bedroom. The Bedroom had a king size bed, with another large flat-screen tv, small dresser, and a closet. The bed was SOOO comfy!! It was so fluffy, the sheets were soft, and the down-comforter was huge & fluffy. The whole bed was just SO amazing, I didn't want to get out of it. EVER. In addition, we booked the place specifically because it had a firepit, and we could toast marshmallows. The fire pit was right outside of our cabin. They come around at like 8pm to light it for us. We were REALLY disappointed to find out that it was a gas firepit, but whatevs, we still enjoyed it. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and the stars, and toasted marshmallows. They're so thoughtful & cute! - they put a nap-sack baggie with marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars in the cabin for you. The bathroom/shower was very nice. It's large, and nicely appointed. The shower has beautiful tiles (rock or granite of some sort), it's bright, there's a fair amount of counter-space, and they put the towels in a lovely little cabinet. So it doesn't look or feel like a hotel room AT ALL. They've REALLY thought of everything. Everything. The once or twice that we ended up having to go in and talk to someone, the staff was super-friendly and helpful. The two not-so-great things: 1) Basically the biggest disappointment was that it's not in the woods, or secluded. It's truly in the middle of town, with all the other hotels. The marketing does their best to make it LOOK like it's int he woods, they clearly don't show any pics of the street that's directly BEHIND where they're taking all the pics, so it's a little deceiving... but whatever. 2) The fact that the firepit is gas - we can understand WHY it's gas, but don't really like it. It'd be so much nicer/homier to have a real log firepit. That's what people like to sit around. It was the smell we missed. Toasting marshmallows over gas just doesn't seem right. But that's it! I can't say much of anything important that's bad about this place! Price: It's a bit expensive. It was just under $400/night, and that was for a one-bedroom (with pull out couch), on a weeknight. But if you're able to splurge a little bit, it's totally worth it. It was so enjoyable. I highly recommend this place, and cannot say enough good things about them. We had gone to Yellowstone for the day and decided to stay overnight. Exiting the west side of the park we found this gem. The cabins were beautifully equipped with everything you may need for an extended stay. There are group fire pits in front of the cabins and a gas fireplace in the main room. One of the nicest places we stayed on our trip. The attendant at the front desk was very polite and engaging. They even called within 15 minutes to make sure we liked our cabin. read more

Really nice cabins and beautiful setting close to the Grizzly/wolf park and also to Yellowstone entrance. Cabins are cute and very well furnished. My only complaint is the toilet is way to low, even for normal people. I walk with a cane and was not aware of the massive amounts of snow for this time of year! I stayed inside and it was beautiful, peaceful and very quiet. The park was also closed when I got here. I will be back was I get a new hip! Lol. I'll also send my kids. Nice lodging! read more

In the cabins The sofa bed was so uncomfortable . In general it's old and really cabin style. I'm picky. The carpets was nor really clean. The pillows really uncomfortable. Really basic in general. We slept the first night in the morning we changed it to the main hotel which was cheaper and much better. The customer service was good. Friendly staff. Don't count on breakfast. Too basic not quality. Location is amazing. So close to park entrance. You need a car for park and so closecto attractions. Easy parking. I would go back to the hotel but not the cabins. read more

This was a wonderful stay. Super clean room, comfortable bed, great location, big cabin and of course the s'mores packages! This place could teach others how to perfect the cabin experience. We loved sitting around the fire at night with a bottle of wine. Complimentary laundry in the main hotel was a huge plus, especially for a hiking vacation. My only gripe which is silly, but it annoys me when I stay at a place multiple nights and they don't replace the shampoo, soap, smores, etc. I pay the same rate on night 2 or 3 that I do on night 1 so expect the same toiletries, goodies. When I called, they quickly brought the items, but I shouldn't have to call. Would we stay here again, 100% yes. read more

Absolutely Outstanding on every single level. Clean! New! Huge Fireplace in the living room with large flat screen TV. Comfortable and warm in the winter after a hard day of snowmobiling. Check in is at the desk of the Gray Wolf Inn. The cabins are separated from the main hotel by a 25-yard parking lot. The clerk swiped my card for a $20 "incidentals" authorization. For what I don't know. There was no mini bar or hotel store that I noticed. He told me that the breakfast was for regular hotel guests only, not the cabin occupants. No matter, when I walked through one morning at 6:45 all the hot breakfast items were gone. On the morning of our departure, at 6:54 to be exact, my credit card was charged for $20.00. When challenged, the manager on duty tried to blame Booking.com for charging some kind of fee and he had no visibility. When pressed, he said that "we" can reverse that. I am waiting to see that credit. I don't believe for a moment that it was a simple mistake. Were it so, why that defense? I simply will not put up with that kind of mendacity and opportunism. I don't often write reviews but I will write this one. The first thing that greeted us when we got to the cabin was a cabinet door in the bathroom hanging by one hinge. When I tried to call the desk to report it and avoid a charge for damages, the phone in the room was inoperable. The glass shower doors had been replaced with a plastic curtain, the metal rails left in place and not quite clean. The carpet at the side door was damp. Investigation revealed that precipitation was seeping in because the plastic seal had deteriorated completely and obviously had been like that for a very long time. Peeling paint and a wooden door jamb that was beginning to rot. The gas fireplace quit working while we were there. There were other signs that the care and attention to detail one would expect at this price are absent.
