What a terrific lodging spot. Just outside the north entrance of the park, this place boasts a beautiful view of the mountains and later at night you can hear the nearby Yellowstone River. The rooms are very clean and despite no food service, the nearby Ridleys market has everything you need and you can toast or reheat in their common area. Every single staff person is on it. This is a great place to stay in Gardiner, the town next to the northern entrance to the greatest national park! Opened in 1988, this family owned and operated hotel is richly anointed with hand made wood accents, great historical photos and pictures. They had recently renewed carpet, nicely padded which made it very quiet along the halls. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Family who operate this inn are very nice and want to make your stay a pleasurable one. Cute little breakfast snack bags provided for breakfast, hot coffee available all day! We will definitely stay here for our next in season visit. This gem is closed through the winter. read more

We splurged slightly on this stay and booked only about a month before, after changing our Yellowstone itinerary slightly for convenience factors. In retrospect, since it was only for the one night, I wish we'd gone a little more budget, however it was a quiet, pleasant stay and the property is very clean and well cared for. PROS: ~Very clean and well maintained hotel. ~Complimentary coffee/tea/water off the lobby. ~Complimentary ample parking. ~Quiet. The hallways and stairs are thickly carpeted, which was great for deadening the sound of footsteps. ~Fairly standard motel style room with fridge, flat screen TV, complimentary mini toiletries, hairdryer (and a 'real key'!) ~'Cozy' feel and a very 'Yellowstone' theme with historic pictures on the hallway walls, animal heads and a stone fireplace in the lobby and lots of wood architecturally. ~Friendly guy on the front desk when we checked in, although we didn't see many (mabye one?) staff members after that. ~A/C and heat in the room. ~Good location within short driving distance to Yellowstone north entrance (5 min) and nearby restaurants, grocery stores and hot springs in Gardiner. ~Small dining area where you can use the microwave and toaster for your own food. (Unfortunately, breakfast was not included as of Aug '23). ~Pool on site -- unfortunately during our one-night stay we didn't get time to use it as we went to the nearby hot springs pools instead. CONS: ~A bit expensive for what you get. I felt for the price that breakfast should have been included. It seems they used to serve it, but no longer do. We bought a few items at the local grocery store and used the small seating area off the lobby to eat breakfast. ~When we arrived we accidentally went up the wrong driveway next door, which was a private residence -- I wonder how many people have done that?! Perhaps slightly better signage would help. Not a big deal, but annoying when you're tired and it's the end of the day and you just want to get to your hotel. ~I wish the pool hours were expanded -- the pool didn't open until 9am. I would have preferred 6am or 7am opening in order to get a swim in before departing. ~Everything was fine, but I felt it lacked a certain 'something' and didn't give me the 'warm fuzzies'. Due to the fact it was a family run place, I was expecting a little more 'bespoke' and more of a bubbly atmosphere, but it felt a little flat, not much different from a big chain motel/hotel. Maybe I read too much into reviews. Again, it was fine, but I'm not sure it warranted the $285 w/tax that we paid for one night. (Aug '23) I do realize it's a high tourist area and in this post-Covid world, prices unfortunately seem to have sky-rocketed. Ultimately, it was a pleasant stay in a convenient location. This is a wonderful, clean, quiet family run establishment located just outside the heart of Gardener, MT. Staff are Pleasant and accommodating. There is a kitchen with a microwave, toaster and complimentary juice, tea and coffee. Mature elk often wander onto the property at dusk to nibble and drink from the sprinklers. We only stayed one night but really liked the place. The rooms were large which was a nice change from some of the places we stayed on our trip. I would have rated this place a 3.5 if I could. My friend and I were on a road trip from California to visit Yellowstone and booked this room about a week before we got here via Hotels.com. We hadn't finalized our plans yet or else I would recommend booking in advance. The room was pricey at over $300 for the night, but I am quickly learning that this is the norm for this area during this time of the year. Upon arrival, you can see how charming this hotel is. You're in Montana, so the theme is very western and rustic! The room (we stayed in the main lodge) had all of the basic accommodations you'd need for your stay along with a mini fridge. Our room was on the smaller side, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. I liked that it was the very last hotel on the street and away from all the busyness of the main strip. The mountains were a beautiful scenery. As many other reviewers have said, there are tables set up outside, so you can have a meal out there or do like we did and have a nice cup of coffee in the evening. Another plus is the customer service. Check in was a breeze and the employees are all very friendly. Here's where the 3.5 came in. The walls are incredibly thin in the main hotel room. I'm not sure how they are in the lodges/cabins. We could hear the people upstairs and next to us watching tv, taking a shower, talking, etc. Also, when I was showering, the water temp changed because someone upstairs was also using the shower. The AC unit is also incredibly loud! It was impossible to sleep with it on. I had to turn it off in the middle of the night and then all I could hear was the ticking of the HUGE clock in the room. My friend and I did not get a good night's sleep! We got up around 7 and checked out and were on our way. Here's also a side note about the town in general if you're planning on staying here: you will need patience, LOTS of it. I'm not sure if this is how it always is, but it was so hard to find a place to dine in during dinner time. The restaurant choices are very limited and if you're going to dine in somewhere expect a wait or long lines. Some places aren't even doing dine in. You order and eat outdoors or take it to go. My friend and I ended up grabbing something from the local market which was also incredibly busy because of the lack of food choices. We were lucky enough to have an actual sit down breakfast at a local cafe down the street the following morning because we got there right when they opened. Overall, the hotel has tons of charm and appeal, but was not great for what we most needed it for as we prepared for a day of exploring in Yellowstone, sleep! read more

The best hotel I think I have ever stayed at, felt right at home! Staff was super accommodating, allowing us to push back our trip a few days after a Covid exposure before we hit the road to Montana. Had never stayed here before in our previous trips to Gardiner, but can confidently say this will be our go to in years to come. We booked a suite + kitchen and it was everything we could have asked for and more. Was perfect for our trip! Kitchen was filled with every essential you needed to cook a great meal after a day in the park. Curious that didn't see signs on doors to other rooms?Had to have a dirty sheet with what appeared to be blood stains changed. We were planning a short trip to Yellowstone and wanted to find someplace to stay very near the entrance. This looked like a convenient option... not only convenient, but everyone we spoke to or emailed as we prepared to arrive was helpful and friendly and the location could not have been more convenient. We LOVED it! It was clear as soon as we walked in that this place and business has been developed with tender loving care! The accommodations were comfortable and cozy and the everyone made us feel very at home. Our trip to Yellowstone was cut short with a fair amount of snowfall, but the ambience and hospitality of the Yellowstone Village Inn was a wonderful refuge! Elk were wandering around the property and sidewalks, the snow was beautiful, and we LOVED all the woodwork in the rooms and in the lobby. We appreciated the craftsmanship and commitment as we spent some time talking with the owner and hearing about stories about the animals around the area as well learning more about all that the family has handcrafted to add to the property! The family has certainly created a very special and welcoming place. We didn't have to go anywhere for breakfast. They had 3 great options for a grab and go breakfast with enough variety to satisfy anyone. We look forward to visiting again soon!! This is a jewel of a hotel, so cozy and quaint. They have a heated indoor and great little continental breakfast. Even have a basketball goal in the parking lot and you can check out a ball to shoot some hoops while you're there! If we're ever back in Gardiner, we will stay here again! read more

While I didn't really like their cancellation policy, 30% if less than thirty days before arrival, that is my only negative. The property is exceptionally clean, the rooms are spacious and the design is unique western cowboy furniture and shelving. There is picnic tables and chairs out front to take in the view of the mountains, and it's close to downtown. Tea and water is available at reception area, and the room has a nice sized refrigerator. Staff were incredibly responsive and helpful, and I would definitely stay again if in the area! read more

This is a wonderful family owned and run hotel. Spotlessly clean and the rooms were huge. The to go breakfast had great choices and we enjoyed oatmeal and juice and usually ate our breakfast bag later. The front desk women and men are so helpful and friendly. That lobby is gorgeous. I stayed here for one night with our family of five and was able to reserve a room with two queens and one king. It was great. The beds were super comfy and the rooms were super clean. They had towels galore so you didn't need to ask for extras. They had a 24 hr coffee available which my dad enjoyed. Best part? There is a family of Elks that just walks around the front of the hotel! The owner is a Costco lovers and I see a lot of Costco items across the lodge. The lodge itself is very charming and comforting. The front desk service is also super nice and helpful. The reason why this didn't receive a five star is because the breakfast is marginal. It is breakfast in to go bags, but they did give you three different options so they definitely did gave some effort. read more

Wonderful. I highly recommend and I wish we had stayed here longer (especially compared with our current disastrous situation in West Yellowstone). They have a beautiful pool, the rooms are comfortable and the property overlooks a gorgeous mountain. I got up early just to listen to the birds. My kids loved the gourmet muffins and they played basketball and tetherball out front. Guests naturally congregate in the sitting area and it was a lot of fun. It's a family owned business and everyone who works there is extremely friendly. We only stayed for two nights- I wish we had stayed for five. read more

We stayed here after finding out our accommodations at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel had shared bathroom facilities. The price was reasonable but the room was rather small. We had a single room for my wife, myself and our one year old daughter since that was all that was available When we got into the room it was very clean. The staff were nice enough to leave our key at the front desk since we arrived in the middle of the night. They allowed us to check in once we woke up the next morning. That saved us greatly. The town of Gardiner is nice and worth it to stay if you want another option rather than the Hot Springs area hotel. read more

After a change in plans due to harsh snow conditions, we ended up getting "stuck" in Gardiner and adding on additional nights at Yellowstone Village Inn. They were very accommodating and easy to work with. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, always willing to look up road conditions and give suggestions and advice. The rooms had pretty much everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The drainage in the shower tub could've been better but that really was our only complaint. Because of COVID, there was no continental breakfast, but they were nice enough to hand out a variety of individually packaged breakfasts. Unfortunately the indoor pool was temporarily closed but it looked nice! Overall, a great cozy place to stay in Gardiner. read more

We stayed at this hotel because it was close to the Yellowstone entrance and I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! The staff was very friendly and down to earth, they seemed real and enjoyed taking to us without any fake conversations. The room was perfect, nothing to much or to little. There was a flatscreen TV and it was very clean, which is important. The included breakfast suited is perfectly, bagels, muffins, juices, coffee. Out room faced the front of the hotel and every night we had our own person Elk watch! There were about 6-10 Elk every day grazing the yard. At one point as we sat outside on the beaches enjoying lunch, they came right up to the grass and laid down. It was an amazing site. They never came to close and they did not try to steal our food. They just "did their own thing." If you are going to Yellowstone it is VERY close and I def recommend this hotel. read more

Everything was clean and comfortable, which is the biggest consideration I give hotels. This was a nice place to relax after the Yellowstone portion of our honeymoon. We took advantage of the small laundry room to get our clothes all set for the next week of travel. We also enjoyed grabbing to-go bags for breakfast on the morning we left, and it was nice that they had a few different options. My family really enjoyed the Yellowstone Village Inn and Suites. We stayed in the Suite but it was really more like a three bedroom with a full size bed in the living room area for $354.00/night - a bargain in our eyes. Each room was very roomy with comfy beds and tvs. It's a family run business and they were VERY accommodating. I am a picky New Yorker, Santa Monica, CA transplant. While this is certainly no five star accommodation, it has the key with the room charm, family establishment vibe of yesteryear. It was clean without the "i don't want to touch the bedspread" of a motel. It's also a four minute drive to the north entrance of Yellowstone, passing all the restaurants, grocery store, and gift shops. It was recommended to me by a local from Montana - he was spot on. I read the other reviews and cannot imagine anyone that works in this establishment being rude. They all could not have been nicer. read more

Super happy with this hotel, it's quaint, comfortable, and super accommodating. We had an emergency while camping and had to get a room last minute. They allowed us to check in early when they really didn't have to, and that's just the cherry on top. They are incredibly neat and clean and really go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Also, they are a bit cheaper than the competition next door and that alone is a good reason to check this place out. Couldn't be happier with my stay here. Walking in to the lobby there was a great cozy, homey, Montana feel. The rooms were spotless and comfortable and the decor was great. The staff was amazing and so friendly and all the little things really show the attention to detail. From the bedside shelves/tables on both sides of the bed being custom made woodwork to the shelves outside each room by the door so guests don't have to set their coffee cups on the ground to get into the room. It really goes to show all of the thought and care that goes into giving the guests the best experience possible. My only regret is that I only stayed for one night. I will definitely be returning and recommending Yellowstone Village Inn to anyone I know heading to the Gardner/North Yellowstone area. read more

We stayed here in October of 2014, it is a charming little place. We got a single, and the price was very reasonable, approx $130 per night. The quality is equivalent to a motel, so don't get your hopes up. The bed is a spring bed, but the sheets were clean and the facilities are sufficient. We joked since it has been a long time since we used actually keys to open our door, but it adds to the charm. The continental breakfast includes juice, coffee, bagels, muffins, and fruit like apples or bananas. Nothing fancy, good to grab and go if you are heading to the park. It is true that you can likely see elk on the lawn. The help is very friendly; they often ask how your day was and greet you with a smile. A good place to stay if you need somewhere to sleep and need relatively close access to Mammoth hot springs or Lamar valley if you aren't staying within the park. read more

We had our wedding in yellowstone and we rented 3 rooms for my wife and I and our guests. Everything was great until 9pm we got a complaint that too many doors were opening and closing. thats right doors... DOORS!!!!! no loud talking, drinking, or partying complaints just doors... I was walking from room to room getting the kids to bed and seeing how everyone was doing. We were not partying because we needed sleep for the big day the next morning. I guess our neighbor across complained. I ran into the owner while she was monitoring the halls like hitler and asked her what the problem was and she let it all out saying we were slamming doors all night. I told her it was 9pm... and that there was no reason i would be slamming doors because we were all about to hit the sack. Then she noticed 5-6 girls in my room arranging flowers(who were dead silent by the way) and rudely asked how many people were staying in that room so I responded with the smart ass comment, "30 drunk people!". She kicked us out!!! My friend had to talk her into letting us stay that night, but we had to be out the next morning. Thanks for the great wedding experience!!! We went to absaroka lodge the next night and it was much better!!!! read more
