Hand built back on 2001 with every cabin offering a unique western theme, the Hibernation Station in my book is a solid four stars. The Cabins are beautiful and the rustic western art and old wooden architecture make it look really nice. I feel it represents the Yellow Stone vibe very well. Our Cabin was clean, spacious, beds were very comfortable, and like I said the old wooden architecture really gives it that fancy cabin feel. Downfall, if you are staying on the bottom of one of the two story cabins you can feel every step the upstairs neighbors take and hear some of their conversations. I felt poor for poor David and hearing about all his problems. I almost went up there to give him a hug and invite him over a beer. We had booked three nights at Hibernation Station but as soon as we walked into the room, we knew we couldn't stay. The room was felt unclean and uncomfortable. The carpet was a dark hunter green that looked worn and dirty, and the cloth material on the walls had visible stains. The two leather chairs were sticky and clearly worn down from sweaty use. Around the tub, we found mildew and mold, which was a major red flag for cleanliness and health. We were excited for the rustic decor, but this just seems very outdated and it felt. It only got worse--there were some bugs crawling around the window. On top of that, the bedding had hair everywhere and felt gritty, like there was sand in it. This was absolutely not the experience we expected, and it made us leave right away. I would not recommend staying here unless the property goes through a major deep clean and update. read more

Hibernation Station is in a prime location in West Yellowstone. I think the best way to describe Hibernation Station is QUIRKY. These little faux log cabins are a little bit off-beat given their highly themed décor. What's unusual is that they offer Young Living essential oils and diffuser (at an upcharge) and that the staff gave me a thorough tour of the cabin upon check in. The theme of our cabin was motorcycles, and there was tapestry wallpaper of motorcycles everywhere in addition to fun motorcycle themed artwork throughout. Other amenities include a computer room and a hot tub. Overall, I'd say my experience here was good. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were clean. For our group, we got a reasonable price and couldn't beat the proximity to the Yellowstone entrance. read more

Cabins smell musty like a wet dog mixed with rotting wood, unkept vegetation near the cabins causing excess bugs, internet is spotty at best and hardly any power outlets for modern devices(had to unplug the tv to plug in phone chargers). The electric outlet shows a few feet of expose romex wires to a junction box without the covers plate. The other two wall outlets are hidden behind the bed frame and only 1 out of the two plugs works in either outlets. Spoke to other guest and they also confirmed the musty smell but said it took them x2 days to air it out. The place haven't been dusted for a while, you can clearly see dust everywhere and can find old cobweb behind the bed frame and tv credenza. Front desk staff are nice, location is great but overshadowed by the bigger and fancier hotels. read more

The Hibernation Station was AMAZING! Our stay could not have been more perfect. Upon arrival we were met with a stunning cabin with a huge bathroom. The fireplace was so cozy and kept us warm throughout the night. The location was so easy to locate and the staff was extremely gracious and hospitable. Hot coffee/tea/cocoa were available in the front office along with a kind smile. We felt so taken care of and safe for our little getaway. A family of 5 and we stayed here for our week vacation, it was a cute and a charming little spot, close to the park entrance and all the restaurants and shops. Having 3 beds was also a huge plus as you don't feel so cramped . The only thing that ruined our trip were the mice that came out from underneath our BEDS! My family and I were really looking forward to staying at Hibernation Station during our Yellowstone visit. However, our plans changed. Despite giving them over 4 month's notice (booked Jan for June, cancelled Feb), HS elected to keep one night's stay ($560 USD) as per their cancellation policy, which I admit I misread as it's poorly written and easy to misunderstand. When I tried to contact them MULTIPLE times to discuss, I received no response from Wyatt Mann, the GM, despite being promised by their staff he would respond. My advice would be to steer clear of any business that doesn't offer a reasonable cancellation policy in a highly desirable vacation area (as other nearby accommodations do) and chooses 'ghosting' as a customer relations policy. In hindsight, I wished I'd waited until 31 days before to cancel, because if they're going to keep my money then at least I could try to prevent them from re-booking and making double the money. Here I thought I was being courteous giving them immediate notice! Lesson learned. We will still visit Yellowstone someday, but we sure won't be booking at Hibernation Station. read more

This is one of the nicest cabins we have stayed in. The bathroom was so nice and updated. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Hannah in the office was wonderful!! We went every evening to get ice for our cooler. This was a great thing to offer. Hannah was always so friendly and helpful. Great location to Yellowstone. Do not stay here! The cabins are ok, but not worth the price. Bathrooms need to be updated. You can ever everything in the cabins. Front desk did not inform us of designated parking areas as there are no signs showing where to park. People keep parking in designated spots without being told where to park. Their policies are not good, they have a non refundable no complaint policy. This tells you exactly how it is when staying at a place like this and I will not be coming back. Very nice cabin! Off the main strip so it's very quiet. Much better than the local hotels in our opinion and 100% pup friendly! Lots of grass area and easy walk to town just three short streets away. You don't hear any cars too! Beds were firm if you like that. A/C worked fine if it was needed. Simple accessories yet the cabin is so cool! You will enjoy the people that work there, very friendly and helpful. Coffee, tea and cocoa are in their office for you daily. Four stars as I wished they had a stove top to cook and was hoping for a softer bed. Our preference of course. read more

Hibernation Station is located in West Yellowstone, just a mile or so from the west entrance of Yellowstone. Near so many places to eat, get supplies as well as souvenirs. Upon arriving we were provided the rules of the property (linen service, coffee, hot water, ice, etc). A porter walked us to our room. Our room had a fire place which was connected to the thermostat. He turned it on as it was very cold in the room. He said it will be nice and warm shortly. "Shortly" was about 5 hours later when it finally got 70 degrees from the 55 degrees it was when we arrived. Their TV is a smart one that has Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and a few others. You do have to use your account to access these. Just make sure you logout prior to leaving. The room itself was cute. A lot of the luxuries you may find in another hotel, like a mini fridge, microwave etc are absent here. You're in a "cabin" so a lot of what you may be used to may not be found here. I did find my room telephone wasn't plugged in and there was no cable found for it. Additionally there are not many outlets in the room. If you need ice you can stop by the front office, as well as for hot water and coffee. We were told that we would not have any service the time we were there. When we returned after visit to Yellowstone on day 1, we had new towels. Very confusing as we were told we wouldn't receive any service. The bed was very comfy. The room offers black out curtains, but nothing other than that. We had to use something to create a sheer curtain so we had some privacy. Great for families! We had 5 of us in a double queen room for two nights. We asked for a role away bed which they were able to provide to us. We just loved it because it was so spacious for everyone. Had a mini kitchen and the bathroom was huge. It had a separate sink for people to get ready in the morning in addition to the bathroom and kitchen sink. It's not the most up to date but we didn't mind. The best part was the kids could be loud without waking up the neighbors since it's a stand alone cabin. read more

Our initial impression upon checking in was that the pictures from Expedia do the place no justice. The craftsmanship of the cabin was beautiful. The interior decor was unique and makes you feel like you're truly in Yellowstone - not some standard hotel. We got our own parking my spot and had no issue going in & out as we please. Cleanliness was top notch. My husband wiped down the table and found the wipe to remain free of dust. The only issue we had was one of the staff members knocked on our door in the middle of the night (yes, in the middle of the night, when we were sleeping) to "check" that we were still there... First of all we stayed 4 nights and never had our linen changed even after i requested it. Our trash was over flowing and we had to call twice to have it emptied they only emptied once. We had to request for new shower towels daily, this is not automaticly replaced . Upon checking out , no one was at the office 830am....bad service!! Great location close to park entrance. read more

This place is amazing, it was my second time staying. I had first stayed here a night in 2017. But most recently, I stayed eight-nights. It's a beautiful setting, really close to the entrance at the west gate of Yellowstone. Walking distance even. The staff is always kind, helpful, courteous and offered clean linens and even got me a can opener which I had forgotten. They allowed my four dogs to stay there with of course a pet deposit. And even allowed me to put my little doggy pen outside my cabin. I highly suggest this place to anyone who has pets. Its hard to find places when you travel with your best friends. "Houston we have a problem!" That was my immediate reaction immediately after the guy who showed us our room for five people said to be sure and wait 20-30 minutes after each shower to be sure there was enough hot water. We ended up getting a two story cabin. My kids were all excited until they realized both levels weren't for us and there were other guests upstairs. (Who got up early and insisted on dragging the chairs across the floor). This place was probably cute at one point, but the charm seems to have been replaced by filthy sheets and quilts, general disrepair, and at $350/ night perhaps some good old fashioned American greed. (The sheets were seriously a grayish yellow color. Be sure to take a look at the picture with the gray dirty quilt with holes in it). The old dirty quilt at grandma's house was endearing, but not so much at $350/night. To get WiFi you have to go to the WiFi cabin. Oh, and housekeeping knocked in the door at 8:30 and started to come in until my shocked wife reminded them we hadn't checked out yet. Is check out at 11:00 or what? I'm so glad that we didn't get one of the cabins inside the park lol Initially I was bummed when we didn't get my first choice of cabins which were the ones inside Yellowstone Park. I was immediately relieved when we drove into the main entrance of Hibernation Station located less than a mile outside the West Yellowstone Park Entrance. This place is the quintessential cabin lodging experience. All log cabin cabins! The ones inside the park were basically ice fishing shanties with beds I know you're supposed to rough it while visiting the park but common haha Some in the park were back to back "cabins". Basically duplex cabins! Anyway, very friendly staff. Tom actually shows you to your cabin and explains everything to you. The cabins are spacious and clean. The beds are unusually comfortable in the best way and the private bathrooms in every cabin are my girlfriends kind of roughing it. So shortly after having posted this review I walked across the street to the Yellowstone Lodge and asked what their rates were. They reported 215.00 a night. The Grey Wolf Inn quoted slightly higher at $296.00. There are several and way too many other places to stay in the area and during the time left I will find out some more rates. My point; A stark contrast to what we paid and pretty upsetting at having essentially gotten jacked. But this is bad on us. But my mistake here is for your benefit. Beware!!! Not sure why the previous good ratings are given here but I can only imagine that those who posted are the very business owners or they who have a vested interest. Our experience is not quite so but it wasn't terrible either. For the money we paid our expectations may have not been met and we believe we would have been better off staying at the hotels adjacent or in the immediate area. We regret not having done so. Next time, we definitely will and highly recommend that any one else should before this choice. The management here does not seem very professional and caring and is inconsistent. Communication is terrible. We are guessing the young girls they have hired to run the front office are related to those who own the business. While their attitude is not terrible, it's not the best. They are entirely unpersonable and don't seem to know how to interact with people/ customers. Clearly they don't understand the hospitality industry. The very telling stereotype of young people today whom professional industries seem to have begun steering clear of. The simple basic act of retrieving ice at will from wherever one usually stays at which is the typical expectation of travelers today seems to feel like an act of generosity from this office where one seems to have to feel beholding to their good graces. This makes a guest pretty resentful and hence so we are. While we were able to obtain ice as frequently as we needed, a few times it nearly took a minor standoff. I was ready to give them an earful at one point and I think one of these girls sensed it so she just did as I asked. Another time, they couldn't properly communicate the policy use on BBQ grills and what they communicated to us and was quite different than what was written. Ultimately, it became a discretion of moment policy dependent on how these moody young girls felt at the moment. Another group of guests were seemingly treated very differently than we were. But this is clearly arguable. So one of the incidents that was really bothersome to us was the fact that a nearby attraction was discounted with a stay at this lodging. We hadn't known about this and we're never told by these girls until we brought it up having found out by happenstance through a random interaction with someone else. Altogether this is why I say this lodging choice does not lookout for its customers as one would normally expect by experience. Supplies were provided a bit disparately and clearly not having the best interest of the guests in mind. The rug inside the cabin seemed to be horribly dirty and gross. But this could be an unfair observation because it could just be that the rug is stained and old but it just looks gross. When we walked with our socks, the bottom of the socks appeared dirtier right afterwards. Before leaving, to check my statement here about cleanliness, we checked underneath the beds and took pictures. It was filthy. So my statement and perception was correct. We plan to visit the area soon again for a filming project and we will not choose to stay here and highly advise anyone to not stay here as well. read more

If you are looking for a honest place to stay while visiting Yellowstone the Hibernation Station in West Yellowstone is not it. I made a reservation in early 2024 for a September 2024 trip and soon afterward, we were faced with hardships that forced to cancel our trip. I made my original reservation off their website and I never received an itinerary so I had to called the hotel and they sent me a "picture" from their phone of their computer screen with my itinerary pulled up and that was for me to use as my proof. I should have known right then that I was dealing with a less than professional company. The itinerary did not give details about cancellation. I called in April to cancel my September trip. The woman who works the desk was extremely rude when I explained that I never was given their cancellation fee information she laughed in her "I smoked a thousand cigarettes in the last hour" voice, and told me that she was charging me a full $469.00 PLUS a cancellation "Tax Charge" lol, of $59.28 bringing that to a full $528.28- mind you this is 4 months in advance on when I was to stay there. I asked for her manager to call me, I wanted to explain to him all of this and to date I have not heard back. We had reservations at Old Faithful Inn, The Irma, Silver Gate and Headwaters and EVERY company gave me my money back minus an admin fee of either 25-25 dollars which I expected. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere reputable, because if they are doing this to me they are doing it to others and if they are that desperate to take a full night cost plus a tax charge, the sheets on the bed are probably not washed either. Soo....take this warning for what it is worth to you. read more

I stayed here with three friends on a girls' trip. We thought our cabin was adorable. We packed ourselves into one cabin, because it was quite pricey. There was no wifi, but you could go to another building on site if you needed it. The staff we interacted with were quite friendly, and it was nice that you could pull right up to the door of your cabin and not have to lug your bags across a parking lot. There were some things that weren't ideal, but it kind of went along with the property's rustic appeal. There was no way to turn off the overhead light except pulling the cord on the ceiling fan, and we had to wait 20 minutes in between showers to ensure that we all had enough hot water. There were hardly any outlets, which was rough for four girls who all like to use our phones. They had nice toiletries in the bathroom, and it was clean and cozy. I slept well; it was very quiet. And although we had a short and cold walk to the lobby, they had hot water and all sorts of good, complimentary teas and hot cocoa, which was really enjoyable. Although pricey, for the area, this was a good find. read more

Stayed here in the past and was very different from this Labor Day. Hot water was warm at best!, AC smelled so bad when ran it was hardly worth it. They gave us some free young living oils to use to cover the smell because they washed the filters and it made no difference. The door to the master bedroom was so warped it was very hard to shut and open. If you get stuck in a cabin with 2 levels the sound from people simply walking above you will keep most people awake as it did us, even with a white noise maker running. The free internet tv provided would constantly freeze( poor WiFi) as the kids like to relax after a long day in the park.Had most everything been full we would have left, it was the worst part of are trip to be in the cabin which was sad because we have not been in yrs and was very unhappy hope this helps, just a tame version of how bad this cabin #47 was.. read more

They have a business center with wifi but not much of a signal for data anywhere else, however it is nice to be disconnected. High marks for friendly reservations and considerable help. We planned a trip last January that morphed into August, then September, early October and finally late October. The staff was incredibly helpful scheduling/rescheduling so we could make this much anticipated trip. We'd stayed with Hibernation Station before. The general charm of the buildings, the rooms, the decor, the hot beverage display in the front office, the ease of late night arrivals and early departures. . . .so many things to recommend. Our first trip was magical! Perfect for families with smaller children. Who doesn't want to "hibernate" at Hibernation Station in Yellowstone. . .am I right? This last trip, well, the place is getting a bit shop warn. With a good manager's eye for refreshing -- new linens, deep cleaning the hard to reach areas of the gorgeous bed frames, new kitchen utensils and dishes for a matched and 'fresh' look, same thing with towels and in room amenities. . . This place would be back on top of their game. I appreciate the company policy not to enter cabins/rooms that have been dead bolted and therefore we did not receive housekeeping on our first night there. That is good to know and very much appreciated actually. However, on day 2, we did not bolt our door and still did not get housekeeping service. Since our stay was short, no big deal. Do I recommend? YES Highly recommend? YES/NO. If you want ultimate luxury and fresh....no. If you want warm, friendly, helpful, and basic clean...yes. Will I stay there in future? YES if circumstances allow but expect them to invest some TLC into the smaller details before our next stay. If they don't, we'll not stay in future. RECOMMENDATION TO MANAGEMENT: spend the money to invest in a 'refresher' towels, linens, dishes, all the minor things in each room. Will do you a world of good. Pay attention to fixing all the minor details in each cabin -- shifting floors, doors dragging, all the little stuff. You've got a unique concept and darling design. The bed sags in the middle. So uncomfortable. The bedroom and bathroom doors have to be slammed hard in order to close them. The cabin should have two rooms with one bed and two beds in each, but in reality, there's only one room with one bed in it. The other two beds are located next to the kitchen. Such a strange arrangement. Moreover, the bathroom has two doors, but one of the doors, which can be entered from the bedroom doesn't have a lock. AC is only available in the kitchen, but not in the bedroom. Not worth the price. read more

Hibernation Station has that rustic cozy charm that we were looking for and is only minutes to the entrance to the park, restaurants and stores. The staff was very friendly and there is coffee and hot chocolate available in the office. This cabin has plenty of room for 2 people and we loved having the kitchenette to prepare breakfast and store picnic essentials. It only is equipped with 2 of each items ...i.e. silverware, dishes but was plenty for us. The charm this cabin has is spectacular and has a huge King size bed . Pictures just don't do this bed justice.! The only down side for me was the pillows. I believe they are feather (not positive though) and they tend to flatten out. May just be personal preference for me though. If you are not staying inside Yellowstone these cabins are in a great location to access different areas easily. We had a great 2 weeks here!! Reserved 2 single story cabins that were next door to each other, however, when we checked in the lobby clerk couldn't find keys for 1 of the rooms. She gave us "housekeeping keys" as she called them in place of the missing keys. We quickly learned the key opened both cabins, it was a master key. One of the cabins had not been cleaned, and housekeeping staff had gone home for the day. The lobby clerks solution was to move my sister to another cabin that was an upstairs unit in another section of the complex. Cabin #24 was outdated, but that was not a concern. Of concern was the dirty pillow case on one of the pillows. A large, heavy wood table in the room tipped oven when we placed a grocery bag on it, the base of the table was uneven making the table unstable and unusable. The carpeting is old and in need of cleaning. Note that the 13" televisions was too small to be viewable. The amenities were lacking. There was nowhere to place your luggage other than the floor. Supplies for the coffee maker included one small packet of coffee, no decaf, 2 sugar packets and no creamer. Drawers in the armoire were broken. Cabin #50 is an upstairs unit (it didn't meet the needs of one of our party with disabilities). The bathroom door is made of knotty pine. One of the knots had fallen out and was filled with a wad of toilet paper. The knot hole is at eye level and is about 2" in diameter. Note that the 13" television was difficult to view. I notified the front desk immediately of the issues, she responded by giving us tickets to a movie. The tickets went unused. The entire complex is in a parking lot setting, not in the woods as one might think. You can only access the free Wi-Fi in the internet cabin, NOT from your own cabin. We spent over $950.00 for 2 cabins for 2 nights. read more

Let me start this review by saying I'm not the guy that posts reviews frequently. I decided to post this one so that people looking at this location actually have a sense of what they are getting. I stayed here on August 6 and 7 2018. This location was booked for us by the booking service that handles reservations in the National Parks. After a long day in Yellowstone, we got to Hibernation Station to settle in for the evening. We checked into our unit and immediately there was an musty smell. We aired out unit and decided to live with it. The layout of the unit we was weird, again, nothing we could do so again we just sucked it up. In the morning, I stepped into the shower and immediately noticed the shower was covered in mildew. I told the person at the front desk and asked them to please have house keeping clean it. We left for the park and returned back to the hotel late after dinner only to notice that nothing had been done. Since it was late, we decided we would address the issue in the morning at check out. When we left on the morning of the 8th, I told the front desk manager that we had requested someone to clean the shower and that there was mold. His reply wasn't "I'm sorry" It was "yea, you are the 4th or 5th person to tell me that" I was shocked! I paid over $350 a night to stay in a place that was filthy and the front desk clerk admits to me he has been told by 4 or 5 customers that their shower/ units have a mold mildew issue. If there were aware, they should not rent the rooms until they are adequately cleaned. Do Not Stay at this place!!! Ask if the unit is clean prior to booking! read more

Cabin nice. Price $320 per nite for 2 queen beds, 4 people. NO AIR CONDITIONING!! When I talked to the front desk, they said just open the windows. So we listened to the adjacent cabins air conditioning go on all nite. No sleep by anyone. WiFi is in a separate cabin that has no airconditioning. You share a small room with other prople surfing and inadequate signal. Impossible! Spa was closed because the employee couldn't figure how to turn the heat on. This was a rip off!!!! Cabin 36 June 15-16, 2018. The cabin has the BEST decor, cute grounds and close to everything in West Yellowstone. Negatives:The cabin was somewhat clean but very worn. Beds are hard. They are just a mattress laying on a wood board with no give what so ever at all. We all had back aches. No WiFi in your cabin. The hot water is luke warm at best, then you only get about a fourth full tub of water, in the large jet tub. The water smells. The cabins are in need of maintenance outside as well. The tub has mold. The bath towels are in shreds. Cabin 36 has no air conditioning. Our visit to Hibernation Station was definitely not worth the money. read more

Two stars because the place has quirky charm and seems clean but that's about all I can say for this place. We had the unlucky misfortune to be staying in one of their two story cabins and the bottom floor. The whole building creaks like crazy but it's even worse when you have upstairs neighbors who are late to sleep and early to rise and pace and slam around around non stop! You can hear the shower through the walls like a water fall and it's just an over all noisy and unrelaxing experience. read more
