I rent cars often in Visalia and usually choose Enterprise (well known name right?) but I needed a car on a Sunday and saw that Express was open. One star rating on this particular day. Oh yah, I remember this day. Here we go... My car went Ka-flooey on the freeway and I needed to rent a car pronto. My auto dealership no longer provides rental cars due to some taking advantage of that service by trashing and total'ing the cars. Gee, thanks Hyundai customers. So here we are getting back to the car rental place they referred. Ok, getting a car and picking it up was a breeze. It helps to have all your info in order and an established relationship with this shop. Or so I thought. Ok, so since my car issues were covered by warranty so was my car rental fees. Love Hyundai's warranty. So that means I had to return the rental car since the dealership got my car fixed right away. So I'm on the freeway about 15minutes away from their shop and I know I'm cutting it close so I decide to call them to give them a heads up. The guy who answered was like, "Well we close at 5." Me: "I know this, that's why I'm calling. I drove over an hour to get here and I'm getting off the exit right now and I'm basically right around the corner." You know what he asks me? This guy says, "Ok well can you pull over and read me the card info?" Me all dumbfounded and shocked. "Well if you want me to pull over and do all that, you might as well wait me for so it would be easier to just swipe my card." Duh, right? He acquiesced. So since the auto dealership is going to pay for everything, I'm going to get a credit. I have to cover the taxes and some fees, but the dealership will cover the daily rental fee. This guy, not the manager, seemed all pushed out of shape. On a Tuesday? Really? I got my credit, but I was not happy on the inital suggesstion that I pull over off the freeway to give him my card info over the phone. Not concerned at all for my safety, all about money, money, and let's speed this up so I can end my shift type of vibe. I think this guy's customer service skills needs a refreshing and ya'll need to do better for a paying customer with excellent pay history. I'm just saying. My car broke down and was towed to Bakersfield and I made a Hertz reservation but when I arrived (I'm from Las Vegas) , Hertz was closed for a 3 hr lunch (!?). So I walked next door and BOOM got a car and was on the road within 20 min. Thank you for being there for me and covering for Hertz's error! read more

Open on Sunday when most car rental places in the area are closed, and also it so convenient that you can rent your car rental for like a day, your not stuck with a rental for 2-3 days because the place of business is closed. This company is a mess. They have one over worked employee running the whole thing. Poor thing is being pulled in a million directions every second; no wonder balls were being dropped. We received a parking violation in the mail for their rental dated from a month AFTER the rental was returned. It clearly was not us in possession of the vehicle at the time and they will admit that. However, they refused to offer any support over the phone and kept repeating how they didn't know how the parking enforcement agency got our information and it isn't their error. Even though there is a photo of their rental vehicle attached to the citation. They are a joke and beyond useless. read more

This place is my go to! I found this place thru yelp & will continue to as long as they stay in business. Andy is super friendly and definitely remembers customers. I've rented here about 6 times so far. I love that they don't do credit check or how the big company's do. You do have to leave a $200 deposit via card or cash.Super easy and takes about 15 mins for you to get on your rental. Although you do need to have a full coverage (rental). They usually make you call your insurance and verify it in order to get a rental. At first I was a bit confused but it makes it super easy and less money you spend on your trip. All the cars I've rented never had a problem or any type or damage. My favorite so far has been the Honda minivan:) it's so much fun to drive. I can't remember the lady's name (britany/Sarah) but she's also super friendly and lovely to chat with. If you're looking for a place to rent I would check here first. I've rented a car from these guys once 1 week for almost 2 months. Things were good (see previous review). I've rented the exact same way every time; they pick me up Monday before noon & I drop the vehicle Tuesday 4-4:30pm. Got picked up Monday & left them with a car a little after 10am. Always charged $50 1-day fee. Today I called at 2pm from Tracy saying I've been in traffic for an hour & may be a little late but still coming. Andy, one of the owners, said no problem & drive safe. I pull in at 5pm. Andy's son had my paperwork ready but says he has to charge me another day. ?!&?!! He said Andy said to charge me!! This guy is just the messenger. If Andy was a man, he would have told me in the phone 3 hours earlier. What a piece of crap/pussy!! 30 minutes after I said I was coming back & was charged another day. The contract says if you're late they can charge another day. Well, I have the right to spend my money anywhere I want & clearly it won't be at Express Car Rental. This will be the last they see of me. Andy, karma is a bitch & good luck. The detailer, I think Frances, is a great guy, with strong people skills & I hope someone hires him for $1 more. I needed a car for a weekend trip to Pismo, I usually do business with enterprise but there rates were astronomical that it was just not worth it, I tried hertz and even though I had a discount code from my work I wouldn't do business with them. The issue with hertz was there online reservations were not correct and they are always sold out. I went to express car rental and found the best price there is for renting a car. The staff is friendly and personal and the process was easy. They even picked me up from Tulare to Visalia where there business is located. The only reason they didn't get that 5th star from me is that there is no drop off box. I had to buy an extra day so I can return the car in the evening. But other than that I highly recommend them and will continue doing business with them. Also they give discounts to healthcare workers! Thanks for the support. read more

Hyundai sent us here when our car was in the shop, wish they would have sent us to Enterprise like they used to. The first car we got smelled like smoke so bad that I couldn't drive it. It was not easy for them to find another car for us and when they did it still smelled like smoke just not as bad. The second car was due for an oil change when they gave it to me and my job requires a lot of travel. Why aren't they servicing their cars before renting them? Seems negligent & dangerous to me. We turned the rental in a couple weeks ago and I am still fighting with them trying to get a copy of the toll fees I accumulated while traveling as the original copy was scribbled on and included fees for other rental cars as well. I'm in between cars and have been renting with other big name rental devices around Visalia and this place has given me the best rates and also picked me up at home to get my rental car. We were in Visalia driving a motorhome. We decided to see the area and wanted to rent a car. Finding a car was incredibly difficult for when we called express car rental not only did they have cars, their level of service was fantastic. They were willing to pick us up at the campsite and then after dropping off the car they took us back to the campsite. Isaiah is a young man who is great and more emotionally intelligent than his young age should allow him to be. Jerry came and picked me up and then was kind enough to give me fantastic tips of what sites to go see. By far the worst experience of my life. Very unprofessional and unclean. My mom called and reserved a car to take my grandfather to chemo in Stanford. We waited 3 hrs for the previous person to bring the car back, we then had to wait another 30 min so he could rent the lady another car. Andy did not clean the car before renting it to us he simply did a walk around the car and asked my mom to turn it on and give him the mileage. We ended up having to stay in Stanford some extra day's and informed them we had to do so. On 8/14/2020 they showed up to my moms house to pick up the car even after we told them we would be returning it that morning. We met them back at their office on Main where they refused to return my purse along with the rest of my belongings that was inside the car. They said we also owed them more money when we didn't. Giving we put a deposit down Andy because very aggressive with my mother and I, feeling uncomfortable I then called Visalia PD out to try and retrieve my belongings Andy still refused to hand them over. read more
