Please avoid Oil Express in Dyer on Joliet. My mom had her oil changed here on January 24th. It started making an odd noise yesterday, so she took it to the mechanic who documented evidence that either of the oil filter was not installed correctly, or the cap/plug was not put on securely. She needs a new motor. She took the pictures and information from the mechanic and spoke with manager who offered her a free oil change. Please see the pictures. read more

Complete Joke of a place. Pulled up and asked for an oil change and tire rotation. Was told no issue, we will do the oil and move you to the back for the tire rotation. They changed my oil, I paid then drove myself over to the other building. The tire mechanic comes out and tells me they can get to me six hours from the current time. If they were honest I would have just moved to the next place and got both services complete. This place is a complete joke. read more

Went here today for the first and it was a quick in/out experience. The attendant was VERY attentive and explain everything every step of the way. I did find a coupon online but wasn't sure if the attendant knew of the coupon but he was so professional that he still gave me a discount of some sort. Never been here before, new to area. Just trying to find someone decent and reliable. From the second i pulled up, the staff was nothing but professional, courteous and friendly. No high-pressure sales tactics, just a simple oil change. They even changed by rear brake light and one the guys even went above and beyond to help me with a spare tire. As I looked around, I noticed a sign in the shop saying "Integrity, it's who we are". As far as I could tell, they were right. Highly recommended. read more

Staff is very helpful and friendly. Store manager is awesome and really takes care of any concerns. Prices aren't bad for oil changes and it's definitely quick. Would have been five stars but I didn't care for them leaving oil in the skid plate from removing the oil filter that got all over my aftermarket brushed aluminum exhaust. :( read more

Went to this place for an oil change. Shortly thereafter, oil starts leaking from my car and the oil light goes on. They obviously did not seal the oil cap in the bottom of the car. I am going to my local mechanic to get my car fixed after these guys messed it up. I will never go here again. Maybe it is because this company cannot handle an older car. In any event, never again. I went to get my oil changed here a few months ago and it was 30$. I returned with the same car and WITHOUT telling me I was charged 50$ because they over charged me 13$ for an oil filter. No one had told me there would be additional charges they didn't even tell me the total price. Assuming the price would be the normal 34.99 as stated on the wall I handed them my debit card and payed only to get a receipt that stated the price was actually 50. They refuse to say they did anything wrong or give me a refund of the 13$ I was unaware I would be charged. read more

This is the 1st time in 5 years that I had on satisfactory service from this company. When I pulled my vehicle in I got good quality service as usual the gentleman took my information now proceeded to wait inside the waiting Room I notice that another oil technician came in to speak to another customer about a loose bolt underneath the loyal Pan and it was slightly lekin however I was in the restroom when he was speaking of this and I heard the conversation from inside the bathroom as I went out to watch my vehicle get serviced I had a nother oil technician come to me and tell me the same problem was wrong with my vehicle as well now in all the 30 years that I have been getting my oil changed and all my previous vehicles I have never had this issue yet this if you happened to multiple people at 1 timeI feel that they were trying to sell me something that I did that needSince the work would be done in the mechanic area building behind the oil change location it looked like they were trying to up sell to get some service work in the mechanic building I feel that they were trying to scam me in the something I did not want when I brought this up to the pit boss he said he could potentially be an oil leak I didn't say that there was an oil leak he noticed that I heard the same sales pitch done to another customer and bust them. Sounds like boot camp, and My technician Michael was very thorough and professional at what he does and also gave me this paper that recommends services, showed me my air filter and cabin filter, check all my fluids and even checked my tires with out me asking! read more

This place has Integrity written on the wall but clearly they have no integrity! My 20 year old daughter went there as she needed her tire fixed they told her she would need a new tire! She then went to Kia were they fixed the tire! This is unacceptable to try to take advantage of a young girl! This is not a business I will ever support read more

Horrible place. Never bring your vehicle here. They tried to scam me into unnecessary repairs. I normally would do oil changes at home, but since the cold weather I figured i'd bring my car here. I guess they figured since we were young (21 yo) they could take advantage but I know some degree about cars. I also wanted to get out and see them do the work ( don't trust "mechanics") but they were super insistent that i stay in the vehicle which was already super sketch. Then they tell me that the oil filter housing needs to be replaced because it's not holding oil. I know for a fact it was fine just before. They tell me I can't drive it home and that it needs to stay over the weekend. My car is a VW beetle and I know how hard it is to find parts and fix so i'm sure they tried to take advantage of that. I Insist on them going in there and tightening it and they do just so and suddenly it doesn't leak oil anymore! Also they loosen my battery terminals and tell me I need a new battery and I also insist on them reading me the voltage charge on a reader and they never give me a reading until I insist and get out of the car. Before coming here my battery terminals were tightened nice and stiff and no movement. I know they were trying to scam me into a new battery. I feel like someone that might not be so familiar with cars would be so easily scammed by these guys. Very shady and they act like they're innocent and trying to help. Everyone there in the garage was seemingly involved since they all grouped together at some point around my engine. Complete lack of honesty, integrity, and respect. read more

I cannot even give this business one star. Please beware if you are thinking about getting your car serviced here. I took my car in after just having a diagnostic done at the place I normally go to, Scott's Service Center in Steger. However, my daughter called Express Oil to inquire if they did this same type of repair. They confirmed that they did and it would run about $650. Scott's had told me it would be $1445.00 so I thought I'd save a lot of money. I was skeptical as to why their price was so low but I went ahead with it anyway. Several days later, however, they called to tell me that the part they ordered does not fit my car and it would have to be special ordered to the price of $1,200, without labor. My car is 12 years old and I hesitated getting it fixed since the car is probably worth only $500. It has been a great car though, so I figured that if I got it fixed, I could probably go another 50,000 miles. After a few days, they called me once again and told me that the part they put in was not the right part and did not solve the issue. Of course I was very disappointed because I was back to square one and had no car to drive in the meantime. My issue with them is that he NEVER told me that if that part didn't work I would have to pay for it anyway. I figured that he could send it back if it did not work, So, not knowing this, I told him to put it in so we could get this car running properly. I know very little about the car repair business but if you go into ANY business, their return/exchange policy is clearly written for all customers to see. I did not sign anything to this effect either. My next call was him telling me that the part did not solve the problem but I still owed them over $1400! He stated the receipt for the part clearly says "All Sales are Final." Since I never saw the receipt, how could I have possibly known that? Jeff is a jerk to work with. Very unreasonable and talks over you when you are trying to talk. I was livid with the way they do business to say the least. Had I been told up front that I would have to pay he $1200 plus labor even if it didn't work, I would never have gambled on it because I can't afford to do that. That weekend, I ended up purchasing a new (used) car. I went to Express Oil to get my personal belongings out of my old car. I had the license plates transferred to my new car and when I asked them if I could take them off, they told me I could NOT take them off until the car repairs are paid for! I explained that the plates are not even registered to that car anymore but they refused to give them to me. I finally had to call the Dyer Police and have them come over. I explained the situation to them and the guy at Express Oil still would not give them to me. Finally he said that if I came in and paid for just the part, $850, then I can have them. Now how did the price he quoted me of $1200 for the part suddenly go to $850? These people are so sketchy it's insane. They literally wanted to hold my license plates hostage! And why? It's not like I can do anything besides put them on my new car. The cops finally got them to agree to give me my plates. This man, Jeff, that I talked to with was not even the owner. Where he was, I don't know. So, I was forced to sign a paper that stated I had until Monday to pay them their $850 and then they will let me have my car. If I wait any longer, they are going to charge me $30 a day for storage. Believe me, you do not even want to get started with these shady people. The men were very disrespectful to me and not once did I raise my voice or act non-professional to them. It's obvious that they have no respect for women. The part that made me the most mad, was when I called Scott's Service Center and told them about my situation. They stated that the parts ARE returnable and if they had put that part in and it did not fix the problem, they would NEVER charge me for it!! This is not the first time I have heard about people having problems with Express Oil. I am the widow of a police officer with 2 children to support and this is how I get treated. I don't expect any more than anyone else, but I DO expect a business to be fair and not screw me over. They should have given me options to decide on. Evidently they do not have those same values. Between myself and my daughter, we have brought them so many customers. Not any more. I only deal with businesses that are fair and do not take advantage of a cop's widow with children to support. I went to Midas to have my brakes checked. After the inspection the manager informed me I needed front and rear brakes, Rotors and Calipers. Total cost was almost $1,300 dollars. I told them I needed to think about it. I called a friend and she recommended the express oil change & service center in Dyer. I called and spoke to the manager Mike and he said bring it in and we'll take a look at it for you. After Mike checked it out I was told I only needed rear brakes and rotors, everything else was fine. My cost was less than 1/4 of what Midas was going to charge me. Thank you Mike and staff for being honest. You now have a customer for life. Everyone I came in contact with today greeted me with and smile and said hello. It was the best experience I ever had at an automotive shop. read more

Took my vehicle there to have some work done on it. The mechanic cut my inline fuse off my radio amplifier and used it on my power inverter. They ruined a $300.00 amp. While installing the power inverter on the top deck in the trunk. The mechanic used 21/2 inch self tapping screws and went though the wiring harness and the gas tank. As soon as I left the shop I noticed that my check engine light was on. I turned around and asked them to clear it. The engine light never went off. I battled with Express Oil for a year to figure the problem out. They never did. So I had to take it to another shop. It cost $980 to fix. I needed a new gas tank! My car was a ticking time bomb!! Now Express Oil does NOT want to pay for their HUGH mistake! I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more
