Great staff work here! Love this gem of a store. So happy it's closed by my home. I love their wide selection.

I have planters fasciitis and was trying to find a shoe that looked nice and was comfortable to wear. The staff was helpful the first time I went in. But after wearing the shoes they hurt my feet horribly and all around my feet, including my toes. When I'm done with a full day of work, I can't wait to take them off. I tried to take them back for an exchange because I felt that they were too expensive ($200 plus) to just accept as being that uncomfortable when the store touts comfortable, orthopedic shoes. They would not exchange them due to them being worn a few times. I understand their policy but it's really hard to gauge full day comfortability without wearing them for a full day and the shoes were sold with the promise that they would be good for my feet; this was unequivocally false. Retaining customers and having them come back time and again because they like and trust your brand matters. I will not be shopping here again and would recommend trying other stores in your area if planters fasciitis plagues you. Before this I had gotten a pair of shoes from Evolution Footwear; I should have gone back there instead. read more

SAS store here is not the biggest shoe emporium. It's compact, concise, neat and tidy. Looking for light walking shoes. Sales associate Lucy is kind, polite, helpful, & patient. I explained what I needed, and she lead me to the appropriate shoe section. When I needed a bit of lift at the heel, she graciously gave me a selection of pads of different thickness and materials to try out at home gratis. She also mentioned that there was a 14 day shoe return policy. However, there would be no return if the soles were soiled by walking outside so she suggested wearing them around the house a few days to make sure the fit was right. The shoes are relatively expensive, but seem well constructed. Woohoo!! I finally found a place with great shoes for wide feet!! I wore my new SAS sneakers to Paris and survived walking an average of over 17,000 steps a day for a week. The people at SAS were very helpful and honest about what shoes will/won't work for my feet. There were a few pairs I was interested in that they said probably wouldn't feel right on me. Thankfully there were enough that would. BTW, I also recommend the Thorlo walking socks they sell that have extra padding. I didn't get a single blister on my recent vacation, even on the days that I walked over 22,000 steps! read more

My mom wears SAS shoes. I'll just throw that out there. Partially because they are known for orthotic characteristics and that market is usually the older crowd. So, what brought me here was my mom raves about her SAS shoes because they last forever, and she has pain in her feet that no other shoes seem to alleviate except for SAS. My heel started hurting and my job does not allow for casual dress, therefore, no athletic shoes. I needed business casual or dress shoes that could withstand a lot of mileage without causing me pain. After we arrived, we were promptly greeted. I searched the aisles on my own for my shoes. Not that help was not offered, but because I preferred to look and try shoes on without the sales person. Socks were available at the front, so I helped myself to my fitting. Inventory is pretty limited in-store compared to what is available online. Some shoes have to be special ordered if they were not in the store. They do have a clearance section that are final sales only. Many of which are odd sizes or older styles. Shoes come in whole and half sizes and their widths range from narrow to double wide. Their insoles are layers and layers of cushion with a sturdy support. Womens shoes come in a variety of styles such as sandals, slip ons, pumps, boots, etc. I ended up buying a pair of shoes that were semi dressy, completely comfortable, closed toe, and looks to be durable. I've had them for about 2 weeks now and they are one of my fav to wear to work. I have worn them with dressy capris and dresses. Discount coupons are sent out twice a year, I've been told. Shoes range from about $100-$300 here, so coupons can come in handy. TIP: First, check online for styles you like. SAS store may not have the best price. Also, there are other brands of orthopedic shoes out there. Find one that is a good fit for your feet in a style that compliments you. read more

My mom loves SAS they have the best walking sandals in great colors ! Her last pair lasted for years . They are durable and are very comfortable you will not be disappointed. Manager's costumer service and return policy is terrible. Don't but here!! As much I it hurts me saying this, DONT buy in this store, do yourself a favor and buy online or at a different retailer. After checking yelp, this is clearly an ongoing problem that they don't care to fix. I just went to buy sandals last Sunday and received excellent service, I was doubting between 2 models and decided on one, but then I went home and tried them for 20 minutes, but realized that they don't fit me well, put them in the box and came back to the store to exchange them for the other model ( a little more expensive ) but the manager just barked at me that sales are final because this model was discounted ( I had never been told this when I purchased initially) and just told me he was sorry that The shoes didn't fit me well but that I was going to have to keep them.... read more

If your Mother refers to her own shoes as bulldozers, this is where you go to buy her shoes. These shoes manufactured right here in the States, in beautiful San Antonio, caters to the woman with special needs in her footwear. In my Moms case big and wide. While she mentioned that she wants sandals (her bull dozers are clogs), she talks a lot with no action. My best plan is to buy her a pair and just take them home. While they have tons of choices, some are quite cute and modern looking. I am super limited. I chose a black pair, with a bit of shimmer and adjustable straps. Simple, cute. I explain to the sales gal, that I might be back to exchange them. Drum roll......she's smiling, she tries them on, they fit perfectly, my job is done and then.....she hates them, what?! They look great. But when Mom hates something, they'll be thrown in a closet and then mysteriously into the trash. It doesn't matter if they ARE her brand or not. Fail. Yesterday, we went back....we exchanged them for a style she wanted (plain and more like I'm running out to Home Depot type shoes) but still needs to be ordered in her size. At least I know the size will fit (my evil plan all along) AND then......she orders another cute dressy pair. Success! We are island people, we have big feet. I have learned to just deal with it, you need your feet.......like forever. Be smart about your footwear choices. I took my 93-year-old grandmother to the store today and met the sweetest employee name Sammy. She was so attentive helped us find the right pair of shoes which is very hard to do with my grandmother because of the neuropathy in her feet. Sammy was up and down different isles bringing us shoes to try on. She has the best personality and is super patient and her customer service is above and beyond that is for sure. Purchased 2 Sandals for $196.00 and the material from the leather sandal stained my feet. Tried to return the sandals as my feet were turning red after every use and they refused to return the sandals. Went to corporate with a complaint and they ignored my return request. Your feet should not be stained when you wear new sandals out of a box. Also for the price and highway robbery there should be lifetime warranty on an american product. Even if you pass a two week return policy offer an exchange for a loyal customer. They lost a customer that spends 300-500 a year on their shoes and sandals and they treat me poorly. Move on to another store like Nordstrom returns and exchanges can be done anytime. read more

There is definitely a cult following for SAS Shoes. They aren't cheap but they're comfy and last forever. My Dad only wears SAS and swears by them. Every year this is his bday present. =) I'm not going to take stars off for NO POPCORN, NO COKE Machine and there NO TRUFFLES anymore! Those were trademark SAS things especially with this location. I was totally bummed. Bring it baaaaack please! Anyways for people who are on their feet at their occupations or for people who want comfy, high quality old people shoes go here. They aren't cheap but they'll last for years and don't lose shape. The service is ehh (but I think it's because older people work here, which is great to see). Bought new boots in November. Less than 30 days later I noticed the button on the side was gone. I've bought these same boots a couple of times and they are well worn and over two years old and never had any problems. I called the store and asked if I could exchange them as I still had the receipt. The store employee said he would check with the owner. The owner said no exchange but would order new buttons and I could take it to a shoe repair shop at my expense. I never received the buttons even though I called to check on them several times. I finally called the manufacturer headquarters in San Antonio Texas and explained the situation. Less than two weeks later I've received new buttons from the manufacturer SAS in San Antonio. Beware when buying shoes from this store. I will get my boots elsewhere in the future. read more

Don't make my mistake and don't shop here. this store has a chintzy 14-day return policy. it isn't mentioned anywhere prominently on the receipt, so i figured that it was your standard 30-day period. i happened to come by on day 15 and was immediately told it was past the return period. since i missed it by one day and had never even worn the shoes, i expected them to at least give me a refund or a store credit, worst case. well, forget that. they held firm on their policy and offered nothing despite my pleas. i left the the store without the shoes as i didn't want to be reminded of my lousy luck. i lost $165.00, which is about what i pay for a pair of really nice shoes from nordstrom that i really love. even if i don't love them, nordstrom takes them back anytime without any questions. i read more

I love my Red Wings for a great US made shoe that lasts forever. But they take a long time to break in and are not the perfect everyday shoe. I also can get New Balance for running shoes and like them as well. I have been questing for a casual shoe that meets my standards for small company made, high quality, shoes. Luckily I found this store right near my office. It is great to have a US made (San Antonio, TX) shoe store so near to us at the beach. The shoes are of very high quality and will last 2-3x longer than most shoes you will buy. They also carry their line of socks also US made. The women's line offers more variety but there are a lot there for men to try on. Service was like it should be at a high quality shoe store. They are knowledgeable and will work with you to make a great fit. If you have to go with the cheapest, stick to your Chinese factory built mass production shoe and have them shipped halfway around the world to you to end up in the garbage in less than a year. I took my mom to buy some SAS shoes few weeks ago. I would never go to SAS for my shoes, but I had to Yelp them since they were so nice and helpful. The gentleman that helped us was an older man, and he was very sweet and helpful! My mom's kinda picky, but he was able to bring her right size shoes and different styles as well. The next day, when my mom tried on the shoes again, they felt little too big for her, so she asked me if we could go exchange them. I told her to bring the receipt and the box with the shoes, but she'd already threw out the box. I called, and the owner told me to bring in the shoes anyways, and he exchanged them for us. My mom was super happy. :) I would definitely take my mom again and recommend them to anyone looking for really comfy (older people) shoes, lol. read more

BEWARE!! I have returned the shoes on Nov 21, 2017. They tell me that they will sent us the check for refund. I wait it for couples week, I still didn't get my check so I try to contact them. They told me to contact Bank of America. This store has an archaic policy for refunds. BEWARE:: If you pay by cash, check or debit card, they MAIL A CHECK within 14 days. Unbelievable! Their policy is posted on a small 8 x 11.5 inch movable sign by the cash register, but is not facing the direction of the purchaser. Additionally they offer a "Free Gift" with shoe purchase which is really only a cheap pair of socks or shoe polish. When I returned the shoes a few days later, they deducted the price of the socks, which were overpriced at $10.00. That policy is stated nowhere on the premises nor on the receipt and the "mail a check for a refund" policy is not on the receipt. The staff/owners should mention this outdated form of refund when a customer uses one of these payment methods. The owners are not very interested in customer service; they did not say one word when I expressed my disappointment in their policy nor did they say anything when I suggested they should let the customer know about this policy when paying with one of these forms. This is not the only "comfort" shoe store in town. I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Staff here is very friendly and nice and helpful. The shoes are typically around $150 to $300 but the quality is much better than other shoes and they have lots of wide sizes and extra wide sizes. If you need wide or narrow shoes they have a good selection. Shoes here are usually for older folks but they have some nice shoes for younger people. I bought a new pair of shoes, super excited and wore them out the door. I didn't think to check for any quality issues because at the price they were going for (close to $200) I figured they'd be fine. After getting a closer look at home the following day, I noticed that there was some kind of oily paint or dye stained into the side of the sole & leather on a small outer portion of the left shoe. In retrospect, I should have not tried anything myself and just tried taking them back as is, but I had already worn them and figured it would probably wipe off, and trying to return them would be a hassle/impossible anyways because they were slightly worn. I got most of the spot out of the leather with a damp cloth, but I couldn't get it off the sole at all. I then used rubbing alcohol, which I have used to clean the soles of other shoes without issue, but it wore through leaving a small worn out dull spot in the finish of the sole. I took them back to the store the following day and asked if there was anything they could do. They did get the spot out of the leather almost 100%, but as for the sole they rubbed some shoe polish around it which seemed to help but will only last as long as the polish stays on. It's not the hugest flaw in the world, but in certain types of light (especially sunlight) it can be somewhat noticeable. Honestly the shoes will probably have a few more scuffs like that in a few months time, but it would've been nice to have that 'new pair of shoes' feeling for a little while at least. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because I should have done my due diligence as a shopper, 2 stars instead of 3 because I shouldn't have to at that price. read more

I have a terrible time buying shoes. I've found that the shoes I have bought in the past (Sketchers and New Balance) are manufactured overseas and the footbeds are made smaller than a true size. After throwing away quite a few pairs of both shoes, I found SAS. These shoes are manufactured in the USA hence they are true to fit. The staff was wonderful in helping me get the ride size in each style I selected. When I wasn't sure a 10W would be long enough they also ordered a 10 1/2 W for me so I could compare them side by side. They went above and beyond to make sure was happy. I'd rather pay more money for a shoe that fits well then continue throwing money away on these other brands that have inconsistent sizing. Everyone in the store was super helpful....even though I went in when it was crowded during their big sale. I've now bought dress shoes, casual shoes and sandals from them. Well worth the money. read more
