Annual visitor to Chicago. Stayed in oak park (the write inn) walking distance to the salon. It was the Aveda sign the caught my eye. Me and my friend wanted to get hair wash and blow out. Emmi does an amazing blow out job. No need for the flat iron after that. Farther out in our trip I came back to get my roots and another blow out. Emmi came in on her day off to accommodate us. Thank u yvette for allowing her to open shop on what would be a closed day. My friend had the aveda shine treatment and blow out. We not only got those appointments but also a great deal to have the blow out done again. This place is truly amazing!! I went here today and got full highlights and cut from stylist, Veronica. She did a fantastic job - far exceeded my expectations!! I've been getting so many compliments and everyone wants to know where I got my hair done. I've been telling them to try this hair salon and you should too. The shop is modern, tastefully decorated and very clean. I met the owner, Evette, and she is very nice and focused on providing the best service for her customers. Both she and Veronica were so pleasant and professional. They made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. They also use Aveda hair products which is a definite plus. I bought a Groupon and used it 4 months ago. I got charged $50 extra dollars, 2 weeks ago, I get a call saying that the money was accidentally refunded to me and that I need to send it back. I replied I would send it back as soon as I saw it in my account. I continue getting calls and texts about the refund. I still do not see it in my account. I let the owner know that I will contact my bank about it. The bank says the refund will not be posted until my next billing cycle which is February 5th. I let the owner know that I will pay her as soon as I see proof of the refund in my account. She agrees. Few days pass and she texts me, threatening me that she will report me to the police if I don't send her the money, saying that I am lying about the refund. I let her know that I still do not see it in my bank account, as I have been checking it daily. I tell her I will write a negative review of her being unprofessional. I have been cooperating with her, responding to every text, checking my account, and contacting my bank. It is not okay for her to threaten me. She apologizes and says that she is stressed because she lost a lot of money. I tell her I understand and that I hope everything will work out for her and ask her to trust that I will send her the money when I see it. She says thank you. Few days pass and she threatens me again, calling me a thief, saying she placed a report with the police because I am lying about the refund. Soon after, around 10pm, a man calls me from a private number pretending to be an officer and threatens to arrest me. I tell him I will go into the police station myself and show all the proof of my bank statements which show no refund of $50. He hangs up on me. I write a review on Google explaining all this mess and she replies by leaking my private phone number on the review. Next day, I call my bank again ask them what I can do. I see no refund in my account which means I have no proof that the money is in my account. I ask them to send me the evidence on their end so that I can put an end to this. They send me a message with the evidence at 7pm on a Sunday. I text her to let her know that I got the evidence and that I'm sending her the money. She continues to call me a thief and a liar, saying that banks don't send out messages on Sundays. I've never experienced so much stress from a merchant in my life. I was cooperative the entire time, and in the midst, she threatened me, harassed me, and leaked my private information. All this to say, this is not the type of person anyone should do business with. read more

Jennifer was super patient in listening to what I wanted and took the time to give me just that! Left LOVING my new color and even got my daughters lash extensions done and they came out gorgeous! Nice women and did a good job, but I paid $80 for the Groupon and then another $60 there in addition with add ons. I apparently used an extra bowl and toner. Neither of which I was told about during or asked if it was ok. My biggest issue is they don't tell you as they do them. At the end they just say oh it's an additional whatever. And looking at the reviews it seems like a business practice. Not a good way to gain loyal customers. I was hoping to find my local salon here. But I will not be back. read more

Be wary of the business practices of this salon. I was there in February and everything was fine until the salon started charging my card without my knowledge recently. They claim it was a computer glitch, but I never received a call, apology or the money returned from them. read more

I purchased a Groupon for full highlights and haircut. The Groupon did not indicate there were blocked dates. I called the salon at 10:00AM. to set an appt. a woman answered the phone "heeeelllooo" it sounded as if she was sleeping- I had to ask if I had reached exquisite movement. I requested an appointment, she put me on a very brief hold came back and advised that they were not accepting Groupons until after the new year. I told her that the Groupon did not indicate that. In fact, it states I can use it immediately. She simply replied ask them for a refund and disconnected the call. I found this to be very rude and unprofessional. read more

I bought a groupon for a color and cut and ended up paying an additional $100 because the stylist didn't know what he was doing and didn't communicate with me that what he was doing would be additional. I went there because I had a Groupon. I should know better that I will not get great service when you use a Groupon. I made the appt with the owner, she said I did not need to purchase it, they would honor that price, she said she will write it down so she knows what the cost was. I went to the salon, the owner and 1 stylist was there. I confirmed with he owner who by the way, was very friendly. she left shortly after the Stylist started working on my hair, I have super thick - wavy hair, I was getting a full color foil. I showed the stylist a picture of myself from a year ago of what color and cut I wanted. she looked at the picture 3 times. after she started working on my hair, I found out she was brand new stylist, just graduated a few weeks ago. she took 3.5 hours and didn't color my roots at all. when I asked why, she said I didn't say to do so. She didn't thin my hair out and she gave me a blunt cut. My hair looked nothing like the picot of me I showed her. When I was finished they tried to tell me the price was $20 higher then what I was quoted, and she charged me $25 to blow dry my hair. it would've been another $20 if I wanted it styled. I felt like I was ripped off. I did tip the stylist only because she was brand new and didn't know any better. Now I wish I wouldn't have. Now, for the real reason why I'm writing this. my Bank card numbers were swiped and used for a shopping spree at a expensive Dept store, a grocery store and a gas station. I have not used my card since I went to the salon 5 days ago. thank goodness my bank called me to verify the charges and I am not liable for those charges. I have no proof the stylist or the receptionist used my bank card for a shopping spree, I just think it's an unfortunate coincidence. My suggestion if you go there, use only cash, and make it clear up front what you want done and the cost. read more
