My 14 year old soccer player tore an ankle ligament this past fall, and the comeback/recovery was a difficult one for her adolescent brain. I started training with Immie in February. I had lost so much strength and energy to Fibromyalgia that I largely felt trapped in my body. Not one to give up, I decided to try another solution - weight training. I knew from our initial meeting Immie would be a good fit as a trainer. She came with research on fibromyalgia and a plan to get me started and moving in the direction I wanted to go. She pushed me, laughed with me, and became my friend. Because of her I feel stronger inside myself. I still have fibromyalgia (that probably won't ever change), but I went from barely being able to bench press a 20 lb barbell, to currently bench pressing 80 lbs. She always met me where I was and pushed me to keep going. Even now that she has moved I hear her voice when I struggle and occasionally I get a text that reminds me there is someone in my corner still encouraging me to keep trying. I had to add another 5* review for Exsurgo Post COVID-19 Restrictions in Phase One of re-opening... 1. Plenty of space for social distancing in the parking lot for the 3 participants and so much room for more. 2. We went inside individually to choose our weights/slam balls/bands that were disinfected prior and we did not share equipment. When we were done with the workout session, all was placed back on a cart to be cleaned and sanitized for the next session. 3. The workout was an awesome total body conditioning that was able to be modified and done at your own pace, taking rests when necessary. 4. I may be over-cautious at times to avoid contracting COVID-19 and felt completely at ease working out outdoors with this small group. Knowing all the precautions that Immie has taken to protect not only herself but her participants at her place of business made me even more at ease! I trained with Immie for 6 years. She did personal training as well as taught group classes that took a wholistic approach to being healthy. Exsurgo is a game-changer. I'm a stay-at-home mom and they allow me to bring my daughter while I train. Their lobby is set up with a tv and couches and she watches Elmo while I train. I've never had this option!! Greg assessed my weak areas and built a program to strengthen them. Immie is a no BS trainer. She's personable, funny, compassionate, and a limit pusher. Working with Immie, I realized how I was my own block. I first came to Immie 4 months after giving birth to my son.. Getting rid of baby weight isnt easy but so worth the trade- off for the new energy you will need to keep up with baby!!! "I first worked with Immie in 2011/12 - she was the trainer assigned as part of the complimentary sessions on joining a new Club. I lucked out (don't know about her as I turned out to be a pretty flaky client ;)). I did about 2 packages with her. She is one of those persistent but not in your face trainers. And her workouts were effective. I was able to tone and lose some lbs. Fast forward a couple of years and a baby later (baby fat + prego pooch disaster in the making) - time was a precious commodity. I reached out to Immie to see if she was open to personal training sessions at my home. She was able to work her schedule around mine. I don't have a lot of equipment or dedicated space but she is creative with her work out routines. Greg has been my coach for about 2yrs now and it has been quite the transformational journey. Not only has he assisted in developing my physical capabilities, but my mental endurance as well. We have focused on improving my sprint, long distance running, form while lifting, and how I perceive challenges. Immie was my trainer in San Jose, CA, before she left us!!! :( She is a great trainer that I was sad to see go. She's incredibly friendly to pass the time during our sessions. Her workouts push you beyond your comfort zone, but do not make you uncomfortable. I went to her to strengthen my legs for 10k's that I run. She did just that and gave helpful advice on other body parts to work on that help with running. I just completed my 4th race and finished with a personal best. She personalized workouts and was open to feedback, like "I feel like I'd have more success if we lighten the weights a tad." She also has a great sense of humor for when I wanted to curse at her when it came time for the dreaded sled push or burpees. She knows her stuff and made me feel confident when walking amongst the weight machines. Her rates are reasonable and I appreciated how she used texting to keep up with clients. Simply put = Greg is a miracle worker. Highest Recommendation! After meniscus surgery and two subsequent knee injuries that didn't require surgery, I was at a crossroads in my active life. I was concerned whether my active lifestyle was going to be reduced to long walks and non impact activities like swimming and bike riding. During a mild hike with family I met personal trainer, Greg. At that time, Greg said I could have it all back again if I was willing to rehab it properly. I began my training sessions with Greg about a month later. He made it a point to review my previous physical therapist's notes and incorporating recommended treatments into my weekly routine. Greg's whole approach to helping me was to retrain my motor function for running, begin training with body weight exercises and gradually progress to increasing the strength of my legs through weight training. In terms of rehabbing, his approach paid dividends within the first two months as I was able to jog, run around at the park with kids and play tennis without pain or limitations. This guy knows the human body and how to rehab and train for performance. Throughout our time together, Greg has constantly monitored my progress, took copious notes on my performance and checked status of how my body felt every step of the way. This attention to detail allowed Greg to make minor adjustments in my training to address little challenges that arose without sacrificing the major goals we established on day one. Bottom line - Greg has been an absolute blessing. He has been the chief catalyst in rehabbing my legs to the point that I can now return to my weekly running regiment. He has also increased my overall strength to 2-3 time to what it was allowing me to reach personal bests on many weight training exercises. After my second child I was struggling to lose the baby weight and feeling super unmotivated. I was hesitant to work with a trainer because I thought it would be awkward, but after my consultation with Immie, I was so glad that I took the plunge and made the call. Immie is amazing! I felt comfortable with her right away. She listened to what I was trying to achieve and created workouts that helped me reach my goals. And I did reach them! I'm actually stronger than I was before I had my babies! I'm no longer intimated by heavy weights and even though she left me (waaaaaa) she made sure I was prepared to handle my own in the gym before she moved. She is super organized! Which is great because she keeps all of your workouts, so you are able to go back and compare what you were lifting/squatting in month 1, and what you are doing now. I approached Immie after taking her BODYPUMP class for several weeks. I wanted to know how she might help me alleviate the knee pain I'd been experiencing for some time. She took time to ask where specifically I was feeling pain and what movements caused it, as well as discussing other areas I wanted to work on. In a matter of weeks I was feeling much more comfortable, well me knees were anyway! I was also finding new muscles I never even knew existed before, they were talking! Over time my knee pain ceased and Immie encouraged me to lift heavier weights to build strength and tone up my butt and arms.
