I had Exterior Crew perform a full siding replacement on my parent's house toward the end of last summer (2019) in preparation for its sale. Exterior Crew came in with a realistic bid and got the job. They started the job when promised and a friendly and professional crew showed up. During the work the crew was available for questions and were very courteous. The company management was always available by phone, text or email. During the initial phases of the work I received a 'right to lien property' notice from a materials supplier, which is a standard practice. I called the supplier and asked about Exterior Crew's payment history. They said they were good payers and that I really had nothing to be concerned about. Having had problems with liens due to poor character contractors, this was good news to me. After the job had started I noticed an exterior door that had dry rot at the bottom of the door frame. This had not been noticed previously and I asked what it would take to include the door replacement in the job. A fair add on price was negotiated and the company manager provided me a sample of available doors. One was selected and the door was put in with no hassle. Exterior Crew also does painting but I have a house painter friend and I was able to have him come in after and do his thing. At least one of the other bidders for this work did not like that I had my own painter and I feel their bid included a penalty for not having them do the additional work. Exterior Crew was fine with this situation and just did their work with no issues. The job was completed in a timely manner and they did a reasonable cleanup after. I couldn't ask for anything more on the siding job While the siding job on the house was underway, I had a long term commercial tenant in a building I manage request the exterior be painted ASAP. The owner's are responsible for the building exterior per the lease. By this time it was getting into September and I really needed the paint job to get done fairly quickly to beat the cool wet weather. Exterior Crew was able to get painters on the site within a reasonably short period of time. Due to the tight time frame I was unable to secure multiple bids, and I am not confident in knowing specifically how much this job should cost. As beating the weather was the most important issue I just went ahead and had Exterior Crew do the work. While I cannot attest to the competitive cost of the paint job, the most important thing to me was getting the painting done quickly and if it turned out that I paid a bit of a premium for this, then so be it. They solved the problem for me and the tenant was happy. That's all I really needed. At time of this writing I have discovered a dry rot problem at my house. I've performed some small dry rot repairs on my own, but this one is more involved than I want to tackle. I've asked Exterior Crew to come and give me an estimate because I have confidence in their work and appreciate how they operate their business. read more

Exterior Crew was one of four bids we got to replace our siding. They were the most expensive, but also the most detailed, which I appreciated. Overall, we are very satisfied with the work. Below are some pros and a couple opportunities from our experience: Pros: 1. Experience / Knowledgeable - we had a general idea of how we wanted the house to look and Andrey was great to work with in making it a reality. I told him the type of siding and the cedar soffit style we liked and the end product looked exactly as we imagined from the get go. 2. Great communication, easy to get a hold of Andrey and Vasily (the project manager assigned to us). We mainly communicated via email and they were always prompt in replying same day/next day. 3. Quality of materials used - the hardibacker siding was perfect for our house. It's a little more expensive than other materials, but being in a rainy area, it was worth it. 4. Professionalism of the crew - Eugene, Peter and the team that did the actual siding work were awesome! At the end of each work day, (if we were home), they would let us know they were done for the day and ask us if we had any questions or concerns. They cleaned up everyday so tools/materials weren't just lying around. They communicated well (English isn't their first language), but there was never any issues with understanding. Eugene seemed to be in charge and was a breeze to work with. 5. Final product - The end product was great and what we expected. Opportunities: 1. We had one minor issue throughout the project. After the siding job was complete, we had a roofing company come out to replace the roof. According to the roofers, the fascia that was replaced by EC was the wrong size and according to EC, it was the roofer's problem. Ultimately, we were the ones that had to pay both EC and the roofing company more money to fix the issue. The fascia had to be fixed by EC and the roofers charged us for more labor hours. We were out about another $2k total between the two companies. It's not necessarily EC's fault, but I wished the communication there was better (vs both companies pointing fingers at each other). Ideally, we hoped they would have fixed the fascia size at no additional cost since the project was so big to begin with and it was the only issue that had come up. 2. Paint job - Our entire house was painted by one person! He was very nice and prompt. But, because it was just one man, it took multiple days (prepping, taping, covering windows, etc.) We noticed that there were lots of spots where the white paint got on the cedar soffit, and some of the trim work that was grey blend into the white. All in all, he did a good job as a one man team, but there should have been a bigger team to split the work otherwise, staring at white paint all day for hours can be draining on the eyes. We just wished the attention to detail would have been a little better. We're very pleased with the work EC did for us, just wished it was about 10-15% less in price. The paint has held up (it's been almost one year), but we'll likely need to repaint in a year or two. We recommend EC to anyone who wants to re-side their house. I requested a quote from Exterior Crew to replace a section of my home's siding and a full repaint. Iosif came out to evaluate the work. The first red flag was letting me know the company does not replace a single section of siding, only an entire wall. The reasoning was that they need to install protection/flashing, and for some reason that requires tearing the whole wall down -- this makes no sense at all. When I got the quote, it was so egregiously unreasonable that I can only conclude that this company was either trying to scam me or incompetent -- possibly both. The southwest exposure of our house gets pounded during winter storms and our window sills and frame were starting to rot through. I heard of this company when I was on one of my walks and stopped to talk to the crew. They were incredibly responsive to my questions and I could see what a good job they were doing. We had shingles added at the pedestrian level and siding above. They were clean, careful of our plants that butted up against the wall and did a great job with the rebuild of the window frames. Had the Exterior Crew take care of a rather small area of siding that was swelled and falling apart. I know it was a very little job for them, but I really appreciated them doing that for me. Their price was less then I had expected and after the siding was done, they had the "metal" group of guys come back and do another super job in finishing up all the flashings and top cap. Exterior Crew replaced the complete exterior of our house -- switching out our LP siding with Hardie Plank -- and did some smaller resurfacing and re-decking. Andrey was great at planning things out, arranging a sit down with a paint representative, and laying things out squarely for the project. The whole thing was completed in about a month, and seemed to progress amazingly fast. Andrey kept a very good line of communication open throughout the project. I like that he was open with opinions when he had them about the open choices, and did little things like having us walk around the neighborhood to get a better sense of how the exterior of the house should fit in to the neighborhood. And, it is worth nothing that Exterior Crew even did extras on their own accord like adding screws through our deck planks when the crew reported that high-traffic through the area might move the planks over time without additional reinforcement. The scope of work included siding with Hardi panels and lap, perforated Hardi panel soffits, t&g soffits for all living areas (entries and patios), t&g accent wall, and metal siding used for our chase and as accents. Bottom line: We have no reservation in recommending Exterior Crew. Our project included adding exterior stone walls to the front of the house. Andrey was the project manager and present from the start till the end. He provided an estimate within a few days of meeting us and provided us a few different estimates based on different scales of the project. He also provided us a few samples that we wanted to see so that we could actually put it against our house to see what it would look like (other companies did not do this, but told us to go to a material store). After having a few other estimates and exchanging emails/calls with other companies, my wife and I were completely comfortable having Andrey and his crew work on our house. As soon as we signed the agreement, the project started within a few days. The whole project took 5 days. All the crew members were on time, hard working and very neat. They would clean up everyday before they left. Andrey would show up to see how the project was progressing and was very responsive to any questions or issues. After reading good reviews on Yelp, we hired Exterior Crew to replace the siding on one wall of our home before we had the exterior painted by another company we had already lined up. The original cedar siding had begun to show damage from wind and rain on the vulnerable south-facing wall. Andrey was easy to communicate with, knowledgeable about siding options, and helpful in putting together two quotes showing us a price comparison between traditional cedar siding and more modern/durable composite siding. When I asked for a sample of the composite siding to help me understand whether it would look odd next to three other walls of cedar siding, he volunteered to bring out samples that day, which really helped us make our decision. The quote was professionally prepared and reasonable in comparison to others we received. The installers were professional and self-sufficient, more or less on time every day and very accommodating of my curious kids watching them and asking questions. They pointed out an area where the plywood underneath the siding had been compromised, and replaced it quickly and at a very reasonable cost. Andrey came after the installation was complete to review the job and when I pointed out that one of my windows had been smudged by workers steadying themselves on their scaffolding, he sent someone over later that day to clean the windows on that side for me. Later, when our painters noticed that the edges of two corner pieces had not been primed, Andrey was very flexible in working toward an easy solution that suited everyone. The whole experience was efficient, professional, and positive, and the work was completed on time and as expected. One tip for those receiving new siding: move breakables away from the affected walls. We had some wine glasses on a shelf connected to the wall they were working on, and they went flying when the work really got going! Overall I'm happy about the service I received for the price. Our house looks so much nicer with new siding and a new coat of paint, and I'm glad that it's much more protected from the northwest weather now. There were some details that could have gone much better, so I'm torn on whether I'd refer them to a friend. The good: - Among the bids I received, Exterior Crew was much cheaper than the competition. - Our siding install was really fast despite the fact that it was a one man crew. - They use quality materials and install them according to manufacturers recommendations - The work was completed right on the estimated time, and on budget. - The caulking job was very nice. I wish I knew how to achieve smooth clean lines like that. Our previous siding had heavy-handed caulking, so it was nice to see the cleaner job here. - An unexpected bonus is that the low-voltage wiring such as cable and phone lines that go around the exterior of the house were originally installed at different times and following different paths along the house, but now they're all cleanly organized and look much nicer now. Could be better: - Andrey was very good at telling me what I wanted rather than listening to what I wanted. I asked how much it would be to add corner trim to the bid, and the response was an explanation of why I didn't want trim because it's wood instead of Hardi. Looking at other houses with corner trim I still like the look better, so maybe I'll add it down the line. Also I wanted the wood blocks painted the trim color, and Andrey told me he'll only paint the front face of the blocks and not the sides. "You'll love it, I promise" Well maybe I'll warm up to it, but it's not what I would prefer. - With anything that came up aside from what was in the bid, I was told I would be billed at a reasonable hourly + labor rate, and that I would receive pictures before any work was started so I could approve. Well I was never notified of an issue before work started even after reminding Andrey that was what we agreed upon. Luckily each issue was relatively small, so nothing big, but I really wanted to be aware of what was going on. - After the job was done, I found several nails around the perimeter of my house, some from the demo of the old siding, and some were the new nails they used to install the siding. I asked for a more extensive cleanup of the nails (I have 4 young kids who play in this yard), but I still found another cup full of nails around the house with an hour and a magnet after they said they were done. - The paint job felt very rushed. He said they would be able to do the whole body color including all prep work in one day which I was very hesitant of because judging from previous painting projects, you could easily spend half to a full day just prepping. They did finish in one day, and if they did do a second coat, there was no drying time between coats like I had expected. - In the final walk through Andrey told me I was being too picky. Maybe I am too picky (I don't think so), but it sure didn't feel nice to hear that the details that make a difference to me don't matter to him. - There were paint drips on my deck from their crew, and when I asked for it to be cleaned up in the final walk through, they just applied more stain over the paint drips to try and cover it up. The problem is that stain is semi-transparent, so I can still see the paint spots through the now darker spots of stain. It's now on my to do list to properly sand off the paint and re-stain those areas. read more

Everything about my experience with Exterior Crew was effortless, and every step of the way was a constant reminder and validation that I made the right decision. With all the quotes we got, he was the only one that actually went up to the roofs for close inspection. During construction period, it was easy to work with the crew.
