I was told I'd be charged a $29 service fee to cancel, but they'd "probably take care of it." I was told someone would call me--no one ever did. After several follow-ups, I received a small refund for the lock they require you to rent, but not the full $161 I had paid. My cancellation was being treated as if I had moved out, even though I never moved in. Eventually, I was told I'd receive a full refund by check (not back to my card) within 3-4 weeks. Five weeks later--nothing. I called again, was reassured the check was coming, and was told it would include the $29 fee. When the check finally arrived, it was missing the $29 fee I was told would be refunded. Nearly two months later, I'm still out the $29 and have spent far too much time chasing down something that should have been handled in a single phone call. A little bit of basic customer service or human decency could have gone a long way. Very disappointing experience. I'll be sure to recommend my friends and family look elsewhere.

I would have been fine on my own, but the extra service was appreciated. If you think storage is storage, you're wrong! Places like Public Storage apparently take advantage of that and raise rates often within the same year, hoping you'll just go along with it. We rented a large climate, humidity, and moisture-controlled unit (wording from the website). 2 months in, we were told they were doing mold remediation and we could not access our unit. This lasted for 6 weeks. A month later we went to remove our items and we had MOLD on 2 large pieces of oak furniture!! It was quite obvious that a pipe overhead had leaked on our belongings. iStorage would not take responsibility for the damage their facility caused. We escalated through corporate and were always told the same thing. We were told that since we didn't purchase THEIR insurance, our only recourse was our renters insurance, even though we did not receive the moisture control we were promised! The reason they are so cheap is because you are taking your chances with your stuff. Absolutely NO GUARANTEE for your belongings unless you pay up for their EXTRA insurance. Even the post office or UPS includes a basic insurance policy! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!
