I called, showed up in person & spoke with Lillian about canceling my Storage a week a head of time. My card is no longer being used to pay for my unit but now another person's unit. I am struggling right now & have moved the funds to another account. But as we all know more than the concern of funds is the issue of my credit score. I discovered an ExtraSpace payment via email at 5am. By the time their location opens & their processing center actually stops using my card. My credit score will have dropped 50 points. AGAIN. The office has failed to provide photos of what was disposed of or why it needed to be immediately disposed of without providing me the opportunity to pick up the items. I'll be the first to admit that I had a slight chip on my shoulder when my company MANDATED we switch storage units to Extra Space when they signed up for corporate rates. All of my work supplies were nicely housed down the street at EZ Storage, and I had a friendly relationship with the staff. The kind of people who proactively printed out my monthly receipt when they saw my car pull in the parking lot. Intuition did not prove me wrong this time, as my experience over the last 9 months hasn't been one of my fondest. The facility is older and dingier than my previous storage facility, and while I do appreciate the security, I despise having to punch in my pass code so many times just to get in the gate, in the building and then back out of the gate again. While those things are mere annoyances, what has really set me off is the extreme lack of customer service. I have had two incidents where items delivered to my unit were not placed in my unit fairly immediately. (as in a few DAYS). While my travel schedule is hectic, and I don't always have the flexibility to stop at my unit to keep "checking" to see if new items have arrived, I expect that when I do go, and something has been delivered, it should be in my storage unit. NOT in the facility basement. NOT sitting on the floor in the office. The gentlemen at the front desk have informed me it is a "courtesy" to place the boxes in my unit. A courtesy? This is their business!!! If I have 20 cases delivered, they should absolutely be delivered to my unit!!! I have been in the office watching these two individuals sit at the desk while piles of boxes are scattered on the floor, and they claim that they have been "too busy" to put them in their proper units. They also informed me it is my responsibility to stop at the office prior to heading to my unit to check and see if new boxes have been delivered. Now I need to make two stops? I'm not sure why they feel this is my responsibility, because in the 8 years of being in my industry with using previous storage facilities, I have never had this problem. My shipments were always delivered to my unit on time, so if I show up at 6am or 6pm I can access them. The only reason I am still with Extra space is because I am employed by my current company. The minute this changes, I am more than thrilled to say good riddance. read more

I've never written a bad review before. This one takes the cake. Awful customer service and corporation. We left the storage facility clean, tidy, and on time without a lock. And this is how we are treated. Billing incompetence and harassment. Never ever store your stuff here. Even at a discount it is far from worth it. The manager consistently ignored my calls and never once returned my calls when my family was trying to resolve a billing issue. I called corporate and was never contacted back either. The they put the account into collections (for a balance of $151 (about half of which is fees)) and called me more than a year later threatening legal action and a smear campaign against my credit report. My mother passed away earlier this year and my grandmother. I didn't want to fight anymore so I just paid the full balance to stop the threats and harassment. read more

The guy is friendly but wants to negotiate everything and you just end up in a complicated deal you won't understand. He also wanted a bunch of my stuff for free. Said he would find me a smaller unit before my bill was due but didn't come through. Very shady. Go with a company that's more straight-forward and save $$$ in the long run. read more

I should have looked at the yelp reviews before choosing this storage facility. By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They tell you half truths from the beginning and then act like they told you or you misunderstood. Then they act like you are bothering them when you do ask questions. Jean and Abu are the office managers and all they care about is taking your money they don't call you when your packages arrive. I clearly told them I don't want them to sign for me anymore and then when I went to pick up my packages at the delivery company they said they were told I moved out. Then they gave me Jeans name. When I asked him about it he said that he didn't say it. Why would the delivery person say Jean told him and mention your name if you didn't say it. Anyway let me stop my rambling if you care about customer service and your property being in a clean and safe place do not go to this facility there are plenty of storage units around them and they would be a better option that this location anyday read more

Had a unit for 3 months before they raised my rate 15%. Submitted a move out notice to move my stuff elsewhere midway through a month and they offered no refund. Why allow you to give a move-out notice then? They also tried to pressure me into getting insurance for my unit claiming there was a new MD law requiring it. When I asked for more info on the law they simply let me forgo it. Avoid this place if you can. Dirty, expensive, poor customer service, and they will try to get every dollar they can from you. read more

The manager that works here is one of the rudest and most unhelpful people I've ever come across in a place of business. If that wasn't bad enough, they already increased the price on me twice, and I've only been there just over a year. They also sneak in the mandatory insurance after you've already signed up and provided all of your information, and it's not included in their quoted prices. Overall, this is a very shady and horrible place. The initial free month or lower first month does not make up for the cons. Moving is a stressful experience and generally comes with time constraints, so by the time I had made some of these discoveries (besides the price increases which came later), I already had all of my stuff here in a Uhaul. Hopefully this will deter potential movers before they reach that point. read more

I was in a bind and needed a storage asap! It was my 1st move being on my own (Im 21) I wanted to find a location that was central to everything-- main roads, metro stations and transit at any time. This Extra Space Storage was perfect! At first i just wanted a small storage unit something not so costly..and plus I didnt have much space. I requested a 3x5 storage then when the storage attendant led me to it I knew it wasnt going to be enough room. The attendant was veryy NICE and made sure my needs were put 1st. He offered to give me a 4x5 storage that was climate controlled (the 3x5 was not) 1st month free, and the next month I would only have to pay the online special. I was THRILLED!! Usually people have less compansion for us " young adults" because its our time to "wise up, and experience the real world and real bills" LOL Believe me I've heard it tooo many times! He fully accomodated me, and I truly appreciate it! He also gave me tips on who to call and send my resume to if I was looking for a job with ESS. There arent many people out there like this guy, and you can tell he takes pride in his company and goes over and beyond for customers! read more

Signup was quick and easy. Abu was friendly and helpful. He did, however, say that insurance was mandatory but I don't think it is. Just didn't feel like arguing over $10. Facility was clean and well lit...even the bathroom. Great price too. Hope rent doesn't go up and I don't have the billing problems that I see others have had. read more
