The movers (Reggie, Ryan, and Kyle) were one time, put together, professional, great all around people. They moved all of our items, including the excessive gym equipment we have. This includes a Peloton Tread+ (which weighs 455lbs!!!!), a plethora of dumbbells, (oh and a huge cold plunge). They didn't dent or scratch our hardwood flooring. Good pricing too and availability.

Well, moving day comes, and guess what -- only 2 guys show up. Jennifer called, said 2 employee were in overtime and they couldn't pay them to work and another one called in sick. The difference in cost between 2 and 3 helpers was a whopping $20 -- but because there were only 2 movers, the job dragged on for 9.75 HOURS, and I ended up paying over $2,000 (with tip) for a move that was literally 12 minutes down the street. When I called out the obvious bait-and-switch, Jennifer couldn't have cared less. Her exact response: "We appreciate all feedback. I'll share with our manager. Thank you." That's it. No apology. No accountability. Just a robotic response like this is business as usual -- which, honestly, it probably is. It's clear how they operate: They lowball you to get your booking, then change the plan at the last minute, knowing you're stuck on moving day. Classic scam playbook. The two movers themselves were great guys -- hardworking, respectful, and honestly deserve to start their own company because this one is a total joke. Do not fall for their fake "friendly" quotes. Save yourself the money, the stress, and the frustration. Get another company that values honesty and your time.

I am going to preface this review by stating I found out about these flaws on moving morning and I…read morehad no time to make other moving arrangements. Up until moving day, everyone that I came into contact with was respectful and quick about returning calls. We moved from Chesapeake VA to Onslow County NC last Friday, August 29th. We wanted to save as much in a move as possible so we bought over 100 totes & packed mostly everything ourselves so basically, all we needed moved was our furniture and little things left over that we needed up until day of move. The moving crew showed up between 9-10am reeking of Marijuana. Did I see them smoke it? No, I did not but they all smelled like it so, regardless of who was actually smoking, they were all in the same cab together. Not only did they show up smelling like dope, each time they came back from a break, there was a fresh Marijuana stink. Now, what others do on their time off is their business, but when they've been entrusted to move my things, I would expect them to be sober and unencumbered by the stench of dope. I mean, these folks drove a large moving truck high on grass. Isn't this an OSHA violation? We are not yet unpacked but most of my lamp shades are damaged-bent out of shape, filthy with dirty hand prints and one of them has a gouge all the way through the shade. Some of the frames on my artwork (not fancy stuff but still) have been scratched to the point there is no way to fix them. My shoe closet has a long scratch across the top. Now, I will say, our furniture appears to be undamaged but I also haven't finished unpacking. I would hazard a guess that the damages are less than $1000 & I'll just replace the lamp shades & live with the other damages because they were able to deliver our goods the next day so, that was a plus. Our things smelled like Marijuana when they were delivered but it dissipated as the day went on. I didn't take possession on delivery date, my husband did, because I just couldn't deal with another day of dope stench. I'm waiting on our rep to call me back as they need to know of these safety issues. 2 stars because most of our furniture wasn't damaged and we did get next day delivery but seeing the damage we do have on fragile items, I'm glad we packed (and moved) all of our breakable & expensive items ourselves. Ps, I spoke with Bill the other day & gave him all this info. He said he would address it with their crew. Again, I do not know who was actually smoking the weed as I did not see them do it, only got the after effects. I see on another review someone else talked about someone on their moving crew being under the influence. Brian texted me today to ask about our move. He advised me that action had been taken but again, I told him I did not see who was actually smoking it, just that they all smelled like it & the truck had a lot of smoke in the cab. I feel this is important to note as I do not want to accuse the wrong person. He stated he thought we were happy with the move as my husband didn't mention anything before they left after delivery. My husband thinks everyone should get a pass & would never complain to a business regardless how the service went. That's why I'm the honest, but heavy, truth teller. Plus, he didn't inspect anything. Just took delivery & paid for it. **** thank you Brian for asking the time to respond to my review. Everything stated in this review is a fact. Not an opinion, but a fact. We do not smoke anything but I am very aware of the smell of Marijuana & I did not imagine it (I am not the only reviewer to mention it either) as it was only myself & the movers. So, the stench didn't just appear. My husband carted 2 lamp shades, both of which are still in the totes i packed them. The damaged shades were all packed & transported by your crew. We did not transport the artwork & it was not damaged prior to moving. As I had informed you, what my husband will not, (he) never has or will do, in the future is complain about service. It is not in his DNA. Yes, he tipped your crew but he tips everyone, regardless of whether it's earned or just ingrained in him to tip everyone. I have been accused of many things but being a liar isn't one of them. Nothing posted here is fictional or untrue. I am very aware of my things & how they appear to myself & others. I would notice one shade out of order from a distance like one 50 yard line to the other. I stand by comments, I have nothing to gain from giving my honest opinion & have not requested for damages to be repaired or items to be replaced. Just the facts ma'am. Nothing but the facts.

They assessed the items to be taken and their prices were decent. Best thing is knowing that they intend on donating the items that are salvageable to veterans. Being a former US serviceman, this was great to learn. Even my sister hired College Hunks to move her belongings across town as she was going through a divorce. Our experiences made the decision much easier to hire College Hunks yet again as I have just purchased my next " forever home" not too far from the apartment. I highly recommend College Hunks Hauling Junk for anyone in need of their moving services. Not only do they remove the much larger pieces of furniture with ease, but they always seem to use care when removing and relocating them into your planned destination. No dings on the walls, no scratches on the floors and they are very respectful and courteous. My last move, they collected a China cabinet, a bedroom dresser, an armoire, a hand made kitchen table and antique display table with marble slab top... all were donated. Thanks to College Hunks, it is nice to know that my furnishings could benefit another in need of them. That alone is worth it.

When 3,000 pounds = 8,000 pounds…read more We're writing this to educate people who need to hire a mover. We wish we knew then -- before we hired Seaford Transfer of York County, Va., to move us from Newport News, Va., to Savannah, Ga. -- what we know now. As we get started, it's important to know that we decided to sell or give away the vast majority of our furniture before we moved to Savannah. Here's what we took: five chairs, a large dresser, a king-size bed and mattress and box spring, a large coffee table, an end table, a hall table, an outdoor bench, a hope chest, about 25 medium-size boxes, a kayak, a storage trunk, a large piece of artwork, an antique sewing machine, a bicycle, several rugs, a ladder and two outdoor sculptures. If we're leaving anything out, it was inconsequential. A Seaford Transfer employee, Brittany Ellis, came to our house to estimate the weight of our things, and I pointed out what we were taking to Savannah. She estimated the weight of our things at 8,000 pounds. We were ignorant of the process, so we assumed that estimate was accurate. Between the time when we received that estimate and the day when our things were actually moved, two other Seaford Transfer employees who saw our things told us they weighed about 3,000 pounds. We made a mental note of that, but we didn't ask about the discrepancy for two reasons: 1) Our house sold in three days, and we had to vacate it quickly, and we were stuck with Seaford Transfer; and 2) We assumed the company would do the right thing -- recognize the massive discrepancy and issue a reasonable refund. The other thing we didn't do before our move date was determine about what our belongings weighed. After the move, we learned from multiple websites that moving companies sometimes estimate 1,000 pounds per room, and sometimes they estimate between 10,000 and 12,000 pounds for a four-bedroom house. We had a four-bedroom house with 10 rooms, not including bathrooms, but we were taking the equivalent of only two rooms of furniture (one partial bedroom set and five chairs) and a lot of boxes. That explains why the two other Seaford Transfer employees came up with 3,000 pounds. After the move, we called Reggie Moore, the son of the owners, and explained the situation. He said he would review the paperwork, talk with the employees and get back to me in about a week. He never did. A couple of weeks after we spoke, we called him four days in a row. He never returned any of those calls, so we emailed his mother, Kathy Moore, the president and owner of Seaford Transfer, who replied that she would talk with Ms. Ellis and get back to us. After doing so, her reply -- and I'm paraphrasing was this: After you signed the estimate, it became binding, and it really didn't matter if we moved more or less than what we estimated. She added -- and I'm quoting: "We have been in business since 1986, and I can assure you that we have NEVER overestimated a move to pad our pockets." It's one thing to say that, but how do you explain the discrepancy between what Ms. Ellis estimated and what the other Seaford Employees employees and multiple websites said? Reggie Moore didn't want to do that, and neither did Kathy Moore. We made our share of mistakes, and now we feel an obligation to share with others the lessons we learned: 1) Give yourself enough time before you have to vacate your house to get three estimates. 2) Do some research and know beforehand approximately how many pounds of stuff you need moved. 3) Never assume a company is going to admit a mistake and do the right thing, especially after they have your check. Seaford Transfer didn't, and chances are the company you hire probably won't either. Best of luck, Mark & Jayne Di Vincenzo
