Some of the staff is helpful and the facility is clean, BUT beware of the rent increases! They don't tell you that the rate you are quoted can increase at any time! THEY ARE GAUGING ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS! I have been there for two years and my rate has increased by more than 90%, although I was told when I signed up, that increases were not common. The increase started after the first 6 months and have continued every four or six months! Look for other places that will give you a contract rate for at least a year. read more

BUYER BEWARE **** Deceitful marketing and practices***** Yorktown Heights Extra Space Storage Read every line of the documents they send you to sign and the fine print and ask lots of questions ! You will not be told that in LESS than a 6 month period, (It is also not listed any where in their documents )Extra Space Storage will raise their advertised rate and the one you agree t and enter into by approximately $100. a month ! If you try to move your items and down size because you can not afford the new outrageous price, they will make it difficult and charge you a fee to do so and more money than the smaller unit is advertised for additionally ! How/s that for customer service ? They are not moving your stuff you would be moving it and freeing up a larger unit for a new customer while still remaining a paying customer ! That's actually benefitting them ! However, they would rather take advantage and prey on people any way they can ! Also, if you are a mere 6 days late ,making a payment they charge 20 percent of your rent ! I have no issue with a late fee in general but this is really excessive ! I would never put my card on file with such untrustworthy, deceitful people and hey what a great way to increase identity theft by promoting people leave their personal info all over ! That's approximately $80 late fee in my case ! I paid on day 6 and got charged an extra $80 plus they were not going to even mention to me on phone how much they were charging and told me to read the " agreement" . Deceitful, bad business ,preying on people who are just trying to live life ! Isn't moving or life in general crazy enough ? WOW Bad, bad , bad ! DO NOT do business here, find a more reputable, honest storage place. I simply can not wait to be done doing business with them and recommend that you avoid it at all costs ! Joe Dering who manages the Yorktown Heights Extra Space Storage was wonderful. He is extremely knowledgeable, conscientious and available for questions. My daughter had a space and we needed a larger one in a hurray. Joe arranged it all in minutes and was so reassuring and helpful. We were downsizing and in a terrible pinch. Then when in a matter of a week our situation changed he was helpful in cancelling the lease in a pleasant, professional manner. Great storage facility. Clean I was happy with it but I couldn't afford it in my budget currently. But I would use them again in future.

Constant increase in rates. In less than a year they have had 2 increases for over $140 dollars. Ridiculous!! Almost 125% increase in rate in 4 years. they also had a water pipe break damaging possessions but they assume no liability despite the issue being related to their facility. Expensive - I am a long-term renter. I just got a 10% rent increase only 8 months after my last increase. Rent has gone up over 40% in 2.7 years (165 to 232). They don't let you know when the increases are coming, they just charge your card. I feel badly that I recommended it to a family member who also has a unit there. Bottom line, if you have plenty of money, then this is a fine facility. If you are price sensitive, don't be fooled by the intro or online pricing - it won't last long. read more
