Dr. Grant is fantastic- but the office staff is an atrocity. I left 4 voicemails to their contact lens line (to order contacts) over a period of 1.5 weeks with no call back. I then called the front desk to leave a message and still received no call back after several days. I sent an email and received no response. I then used their text line and finally received a response several days later. You'll receive an automated message stating they will return your call the next business day, but this simply does not happen. Seems like this is a recurring issue based on other reviews. Husband ordered glass I called to inquire if they were due to he was tolded they would be in two weeks. Needless when I called got the recorded message telling me they were helping other clients. Leave a message which we would receive a return call by the end of next business day. Also text message then sent email. After four days of this my husband went to their office. Was asked if anyone called. Really this is uncalled for. Four phone calls text message and email sent with no response. Love the eye doctor but their office employees need to go. The worst experience in 6 decades of wearing eye glasses and seeing eye doctors I've had. The Dr. mis-prescribed my prescription by a factor of 10. The optics department had a poor selection of frames and tried to force me to wear the wrong lenses stating that I needed to get used to it. My glasses took almost 2 months to be done, and then they were wrong. Every interaction I had with them was bad and close to malpractice it was done so poorly I will never go back read more

My appointment was at 9, and I was seen and checked out by 10! I was called back before I finished my paperwork, the assistant was bubbly and my doctor was very polite. She was informative and answered all my questions. I also overheard another doctor giving in-depth explanations on how to use contacts correctly, and what to do in the case it's improperly placed. I read some bad reviews but it was far from a negative experience, they are easy to locate and return calls. Terrible customer service. Has been 6 weeks and havent gotten the first call about my glasses that were ordered. When I call and finally can get someone to answer the call, they keep offering excuses and saying they'll have the office manager call me. Still, not a word. If everyone would contact the BBB, maybe these issues would stop or they'd go out of business. It's a shame that these reviews are all saying the same thing and nothing appears to be changing on the business front. That is how businesses fail! The Optamologists themselves will be fine and able to find work elsewhere. But if the right office/clerical/bookkeeping staff isnt hired, you're going to go downhill fast. MEDICAL MALPRACTICE NON COMPLIANT WITH THE ADA I am beyond shocked at the disrespect this establishment has for vision. I was referred by a former employee at Palmetto Retina and trusted the referral as my Opthamologist studied at MIT and was previously my Physician at Emory Eye Clinic. I was in Columbia over the Holidays and with a refraction of -24.5 it is Medically Necessary that I have both contact lenses and glasses, and as a LEGALLY BLIND PATIENT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION WOULD BE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A PRODUCT IN A TIMELY MANNER. I visited the office in December of 2017 and was told that I would need to come back at the beginning of the year but that my glasses would be covered under my 2017 policy as we chose frames that day and did measurements for the glasses , services were rendered in 2017 and must go on the 2017 policy. That alone is in DIRECT VIOLATION of the American with Disabilities Act. Sending a client away without corrected vision is against the law. I really like this place, but I agree with some of the other reviewers about the ordering process. I have had contacts, and glasses come in, and they just seem to forget to call to let you know. Also it seems hard to get a hold of someone if you want to ask questions about orders. As far as the office, I love it, and have never had any issues. Oh as far as what the one reviewer said about not being able to order after a year, that's not their fault, that's just a dumb SC law that requires a new prescription, per year for contacts. Always make sure to order lots of extras before the year ends, so you don't have to do another appointment. read more

The doctors are great, but the office managers run the show and they are unreasonable and unwilling to work with patients. After making an appointment for a yearly check up I asked if I could order contacts in order to make it through until my appointment. I was told I could not have any contacts because it had been over a year. Even though the earliest I could get in was past my year date, I couldn't have contacts ordered to use until the scheduled date. I asked to speak with the office manager who told me the same story. No contacts, no samples, no solution. I asked to speak with my doctor who told me he didn't own the practice there was nothing he could do. So he went to medical school and gets bossed around by office workers?? Yeah right! So they have have run off my entire family. Due to one issue they lost 4 patients and didn't seem to care. Needless to say we are now seeing Dr. Bailey in Lexington and couldn't be happier. If you can leave, get out now! read more

Worst experience getting glasses inn49 years. The eye doctor was wonderful, and had to do my exam twice because the office staff threw her under the bus and blamed her for my glasses not being right. The truth is that the girl measured my eyes wrong and i couldn't see through them. They needed to go back and have new lenses made, but she never sent them back. 8 weeks later i called to see what was going on and was told they are ready and that they left me a voice mail. That was the first of three lies. I went to get my glasses, now it has been 11 weeks. I sat down and she handed me the same exact pair. Her red markings were still on the lenses, but she said it was either the doctors fault or my eyes have changed. That was the second lie. I had to schedule another eye appointment where i brought this to the doctors attention. She agreed that the glasses never got sent back. She did another exam which had the same results as the first one. Now another 6 weeks passes and once again i call and hear they are ready and we left you a voice mail. Third lie. Got my glasses finally after 18 weeks. This place sucks at customer service. I would go without glasses before going back there. I didn't even want to give one star. I will be looking to report this place for sure. read more

The doctors and staff are great! Everyone is generally happy and willing to help. The reason I am subtracting 3 stars is related to their blatantly outdated methods. They do not have an email address. It is 2016. Any business not yet participating in email technology makes you wonder what other "new" technology in which they are not participating... We drive from Lexington to Cayce to see Dr. Morris. He is the best! We had gone to America's Best and got the wrong prescription. Dr. Morris gave us all the perfect prescriptions, as well as a very thorough exam. I am diabetic and he made sure my eyes showed no diabetic changes. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my family's eyes! The staff is very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. It is worth the drive to go to this practice. read more

Before this last appointment, I have been going to this office for almost 10 years. They were wrong in a situation that they never made right. I called 5 different times and was told 5 times that they understood my complaint and would look into it and call me back. Never once was I called back! In January of 2019 they ordered contacts for me and said that they would bill my insurance. They obviously went to bill and realized that they couldn't make a claim until March 2019. I never received a phone call or a bill stating that I owed $130 for the contacts that they never sent to insurance at all for the year of 2019. I go for an appointment in January of 2021 and they tell me I owe $130 (for the contacts that they never sent to insurance) before I could see the doctor. I paid the $130, which I should have never done, and told them I was going to do research on my end before I saw the doctor. I did my research through the insurance company and found where they (Doctors Office) was at fault. They should have made it right and given me my $130 back because there mistake was not by wrong. I will NEVER go back there again and will definitely share my experience read more

Several of my last experiences before coming to Eye Associates were pretty bad. They were a chain company. I went to save money, but in the end, you still pay a lot for such bad service. I sent Eye Associates a message explaining my needs and wanting some information. Someone promptly responded and explained everything. They were friendly on the phone when I called to schedule an appointment (which they had an opening the next day) and also just as friendly from the time I opened the door and walked in. I really liked my eye doctor, Rachel Ferguson. She was very thorough and such a nice person who listens. I was worried that they'd not be able to find a good pair of contacts for me. I'm on my trial pair and I think these are going to work out nicely. What a relief! Also, I want to say that they're not pushy. They don't encourage you to take any tests that you really don't need. Nor do they push you or intimidate you into buying more than what you came for. I'm just so relieved to find such a great place! read more

The optometrist was nice and professional, but the business side, specifically the optical shop, could use some improvement. After I had my eye exam, I received a new prescription for both contacts and glasses. The optometrist ordered a trial pair of contact lenses because she wanted me to try a new brand. She said the office would call me when they arrived. I also purchased a new pair of glasses from the optical shop and was told I'd receive a call when they were ready. Three weeks went by and I heard nothing from the office. As a former optician, I know it doesn't take three weeks to make a pair of glasses. Because I was about to leave on a trip for Christmas vacation, I ended up ordering contacts from 1-800 contacts with 2 day shipping so I'd have something for my trip. I called the office and it turned out both my glasses and contacts were ready, they had just forgotten to call me. The exact same thing happened to my husband, who had an eye exam and ordered glasses the same week as me and never received a call about them. About a month later I picked up his glasses that had just been sitting there. They also had some contact lenses sitting there because they wanted to do a contact lens "class" with him before prescribing him contacts. They never followed up with him about this either. He hasn't been back, and we will both be going somewhere else for our next exam. It's a shame because we both liked the optometrist, but we really don't have the patience to deal with the lack of communication from the office staff. read more

My wife has been going to Eye Associates for years and has been after me to go. This was my first visit and it was perfect. Doctor was outstanding and the staff was very friendly and helpful. In addition, I did not need glasses. I am 62 years old and fully expected a glasses prescription. I was told, keep using the readers. No need to spend extra money. After waiting several weeks for an appointment and then two more weeks to create my lenses, I receive them today and the script was way off. I visited the location prior to making the appointment. I spoke in great detail to both the doctor and the rep in their optical store. Explained that I lost my glasses and was in dire need to have them replaced. I explained that I was travelling out of the country and I was assured that I would have them on time. Well, I would not have known that they had arrived unless I called them. No one answers the phone and when they do they do not give their names and you are treated like you are disturbing them. Who ever that rude lady was in their optical store should learn how to speak to people AND show some compassion for THE ERROR THAT THEY MADE! I received a refund for the lens but that is it. I had a eye appointment on 12.11.2018. On my way to my appointment I received a call from Jennifer White (Office Manger) to inform me my appointment has been canceled due to an outstanding balance of $164.00. I told Jennifer-I never knew I had an outstanding balance until now. She got so nasty with me-and told me I either pay this bill or she is going to canceled my appointment. I told her I received samples from her office after I placed several calls regarding the defective contacts I received on 07.24.2017. She then added I could go somewhere else if I like-then she hung up the telephone. My family and I been a patient for many years and never had this type of service. She admits the doctor discharge me as a patient until this balance is paid. I told Jennifer this is not good patient care and it is unethical to discharge a patient without proper notice. I ask her is there anyone I could speak to regarding this issue. Jennifer admits- all complaints comes through her and stops with her. There is no Medical Director or Human Resource I could be directed to. I had to wait almost 3 1/2 weeks for replacement for my contacts -from a vendor and then sadly I charged without. Jennifer admits they never documented my series of calls I complained about the contacts I paid in the amount of $377.00. Then charged an additional $164.00 for samples and discharge from the practice. read more

finally received right contacts on 7/06/18 called back on 7/13/18 to order new ones. on 7/20 at 12:30 stopped in to see if have arrived yet seeing no one called me yet and was told person that does ordering had left for lunch they would have them call me when they get back in. no call as of 5:00 so called back was told they had not even been ordered yet but they could order them now if I want. I needed glasses my eyesight was awful went to these people for help.I am disabled and on Medicaid and was told I need surgery as I have bad cateracts .. These people made glasses that I can only get every two years even though the surgeon office called and me called to cancel the glasses ... The surgeon said they should have never made them knowing I need surgery and my eye needs will be different after surgery.. They tell me now I have to pay for new set its not their problem and now I'm without .. The glasses they made are too small for me and don't work right with the bifocal on my face and said its my fault for choosing the wrong ones ... I thought they were the professionals didn't know I needed to have an optical degree to be a patient with them ...the surgeon says these glasses are not right even the fit or placement of the bifocal .The glasses they gave me are also from just laying on the table coming apart ... I highly advise potential customers go somewhere else I will never go back nor everyone else that has tried to help me with this read more
