I did not feel listened to or respected, and the overall experience was uncomfortable. During the visit, he suggested bifocal contact lenses. I declined. He then told me that the contact lens prescription he arrived at was "the best he could do" because my eyes were "in between." The contacts were uncomfortable, and I struggled to see clearly both near and far. I remained in that prescription for about a year and a half, assuming the issue was my eyes rather than the fit. Recently, I saw my longtime optometrist, who reviewed that prescription and told me it was not an appropriate fit from the start. He restarted the exam from scratch and fitted me with a completely different type of contact lens. The improvement in comfort and vision was immediate. He also explained that bifocal contacts should not have been suggested to me based on my age and what he observed during the exam, as they were unnecessary. This was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with an optometrist, and I'm relieved to be back with a provider I trust now that I've moved. I'm sharing this so others feel empowered to seek a second opinion if something doesn't feel right.

So I finally went online to find a place I could get an eye exam which led me to Rothbloom Eye Care. I saw that they had availability when I was free and I could easily book my appointment online. After about a 15 minute ride, I pulled into their parking lot which had plenty of available spacing even though it still appeared that they had a lot of customers inside. Once inside, I checked in and was called within a few minutes after my arrival. After that, the proceeds was very efficient. The eye exam ran like a well oiled machine! First, their scheduling system is one of the best I've seen. Not only do they issue text reminders , you can schedule your own appointments based on availability. The Doctors actually remind you and do not rush you off for the next client. Everyone is pleasant and professional. You first arrive for check-in at the back of the store and shortly after around ten minutes or so I was called for the various eye test to check my retina and to see if there was any change in my vision. You were then escorted to another room where you wait for the doctor to perform eye chart testing, and go over the results of your eye test with you. My doctor is always pleasant, and she spotted a change in my retina which she informed will be monitored and make sure to compare it to last year's test. I always feel heard, and that I'm getting quality care when visiting the doctors here. My prescription did increase a little bit in my left eye however it was not enough to need to change it at this time. However, it didn't stop me from getting a new pair of glasses because after your visit your then provided more information based on your insurance to either upgrade your current pair of glasses or purchase a new one. So of course I got excited and purchased a pair of Meta glasses! Check on your aging eyes at this location. You won't regret it! Con: since this location is in the mall it can get pretty busy and you may have to wait a bit to get your prescription glasses order completed.

After my appointment, I ordered my contacts refill through 1-800-CONTACTS because they were significantly cheaper. Atlanta Eye Group never returned their request to confirm my prescription, so I was sent the wrong prescription (+2.50 instead of -2.50). Thankfully, 1-800-CONTACTS is used to this unethical practice and has agreed to replace the box with my correct prescription for free. It is absolutely unethical, unacceptable, and negligent for a medical practice to ignore these requests. Thankfully I had a few old contacts I could wear in the interim, but I will never return to this clinic.

While on the phone, my toddler started to throw a tantrum. One of the ladies asked if she could walk my little one around. Though im usually hesitant with others carrying my child, the nice lady gave me a warm presence and I allowed her to walk my baby. Another young lady also helped entertain my baby, as they had to help customers. Actions like this really restore my faith in humanity. Unfortunately, things did not work out with my insurance (nothing on their part), but I will forever be grateful for what those two young ladies did for me.

Throughout the experience they have been very dodgy and deceitful and when I can get them on the phone it's always a different story. There was a "glitch" in the system, "It's just a busy time", "your lenses were done improperly". It's been total incompetence or deflecting blame. And guess what, still no glasses or any recompense other than we can offer you a "goody" bag when they come in. I would prefer customer service with integrity and ....I don't know...the GLASSES I ordered which was the whole point! So frustrated and dismayed.

This gesture and remark were racially insensitive and have no place in patient care, as comments and gestures of this nature affect whether patients feel safe seeking care.
