I went to Optique at West Paces to buy a new pair of frames, specifically Silhouette brand frames. I did a lot of shopping around and ultimately settled on Optique for a few reasons: 1. My eye doctor doesn't accept my vision insurance plan (VSP), but Optique does. 2. Optique is the only store I visited in metro Atlanta that stocks Silhouette frames. 3. The store is conveniently located between my home and office. Optique has its own optometrist, but I decided to stick with my current eye doctor of 7+ years because I like her so much. She emailed me my glasses prescription so I could use them to shop around. A couple of my friends have Silhouette frames and I really like them. Silhouettes are rimless and super low profile. Optique has many different styles to try on. Christen helped me pick out a pair of frames, the lens shape, and frame color. She recommended frames for me based not only on how the frames looked and fit on my face, but also based on my prescription. I didn't purchase a pair of frames the first day I went to Optique because I was still shopping around. When I asked for the model number of the Silhouette frames, the staff was a bit reluctant to give me the info. I understood because they wanted me to buy the frames from them. When I got home and Googled the frames, I found the frames online for over 50% less. That was a big price difference, but I wasn't surprised. Optique is located in a well-to-do area and the store name is a play on boutique -- I kind of expected the frames to be pricey here. Even though I found the frames online for much less money, the total cost did not include the lenses and the online retailers I checked did not accept VSP. So that is why, financially, I ultimately made the decision to purchase from Optique. Side note: LensCrafters also does not accept VSP. LensCrafters prices are still pricey (for the nice frames) and comparable to Optique anyway. I worked with Lisa throughout the purchasing process. It was pretty painless, mainly because I had my prescription ready and I knew what kind of benefits to expect with my insurance plan. Lisa measured my pupillary distance (PD) to verify what was written on my prescription. I thought that was nice. My Silhouette frames plus high-index lenses ended up costing me nearly $400 after insurance. Expensive (!), but that is the nature of the eyeglass business. If you want a pair of nice frames, you'll have to pull out the big bucks for them. If I didn't have insurance, I would have paid around $700. Ridiculous. The net impact to my wallet was also reduced a bit since I set aside money for these glasses in my flexible spending account (FSA). It took 12 days for me to get my frames, from the day I placed my order to the day Optique called me to let me know they were ready for pickup. Both Christen and Lisa were great to work with. Both were friendly and knowledgeable and helped answer all of my questions. Optique does not honor refunds. They will do exchanges, but only up to 30 days after you receive your order. Overall, I was pleased with my shopping and buying experience at Optique. It's a first-rate, professional operation. I have been very happy with my new Silhouettes. read more

Went here because I spent a day in discomfort due some type of debris in my eye. I had already been to an urgent care location and they weren't able to remove it. I called them and explained the situation and they were able to fit me in for a same day visit. The doctor here was able to quickly identify that there was a nearly invisible piece of debris embedded in my eyelid and remove it ....all in under 5 min. It was such a relief because having something in your eye for almost a full day is really unbearable. Gavin Cohen's passion is infectious. He showcases a level of quality I've not seen before seeing other opthamologists. Gavin uses the latest technology, and is very proficient in current eye practice. There is an optional (non-insurance covered) test that checks for a disease not often sought after. I usually don't enjoy visits to the dentist, eye doctor, etc..., but I always go home smiling after seeing Gavin and his staff. Dr. Gavin is amazing! He removed a piece of glitter from my cornea, with zero pain, right there in the office! This piece of glitter was probably the world's largest piece of glitter ever (and, just to clarify - The glitter came from those glitter ribbons when I was gift wrapping, not from moonlighting at the Pink Pony). He also picked out the best pair of glasses for me that I just LOVE! I get compliments from strangers all the time about them. They have definitely become my signature 'business attire accessory'! (Just in case you were interested, they were Paul Smith dark black frames, that have little pink trim on the inside...The logo is a little bunny on the right hand arm). Even though the frames were a tad out of my price range (and by 'tad', I mean I didn't eat for two weeks to buy these) - BUT they were totally worth it!! Best doctor and office hands down! read more

I'm team Dr. Cohen 1000%. I've been wearing glasses for 52 years and I've unsuccessfully worn contact lenses over the years. I don't remember the exact year when my vision got to the point where the doctor showed me what my vision would be with glasses and he apologized that it wasn't better. I accepted that this was the best it was going to be. Over the years, no doctor significantly improved my vision. I scheduled an emergency, last minute, same day appointment on a Friday with Dr. Cohen. To this day, I'm thankful they worked me in. I had a painful nodule on my eye and I was experiencing shooting pains that felt like someone was cutting my eye with a knife. Turns out, I had nodular episcleritis and eye drops did the trick. I'd been going to the same eye doctor for years. He gave me referral information for cataract surgery explaining this would help my vision. I don't remember the exact circumstances, must have been during my follow up visits for nodular episcleritis, Dr. Cohen told me he thought I might have keratoconus. He was right. He suggested I try scleral lenses before cataract surgery. With scleral lenses, my vision is 20/20. God was looking out for me. His office is in the shopping center next to my office. If I've walked past it once, I've walked past it a million times going to lunch. It never crossed my mind to try a new doctor. If it weren't for my nodular episcleritis, I never would have known that he is a keratoconus specialist. He's the best. He specializes in other things eye related. I recommend scheduling regular eye exams for you and your family with him. If I'd known about him sooner, I wouldn't have spent so many years not knowing why my vision was compromised. Please do not use Dr. Cohen at Optique at West Paces. I have used him for years. I have always had trouble getting written prescriptions from him after visits. This year his office held my contact prescription until I had 1-800-contacts call him directly. My account was paid in full when I received a bill. Now, more than eight months later, his office says my prescription is not valid because I have an unpaid account balance of $106. I find Dr. Cohen's comment that my problems with his practice are due to non-payment as insulting. I have impeccable credit. My insurance company and I have paid him almost $500 for one eye exam and contact fitting (no contacts or glasses). If there is a misunderstanding as to why he is 'holding' my prescription (since my March 2017 appointment) the burden of clarification is his. read more

He is also egotistical and thinks his care is superior to any other eye doctor in Atlanta. He is a good doctor, but many doctors in Atlanta are also EXCELLENT. He seems to realize he is in a ritzy area of Atlanta, and can easily overcharge on every single tiny detail. I will never ever return as I am tired of his money games that he tries to slide every dime out of your wallet. He will even has up-charge after up-charge for details of a normal eye exam. Careful!!!! He has gorgeous frames, so if you want to burn $100 bills and spend easily over $1,000 for what you can get for $200 on the internet, Dr. Cohens office is the perfect stop for you. Honestly, I am shocked how much money he squeezes out of patients and the insurance companies. Someone will figure him out, and likely stop this price gouging. STAY AWAY, go somewhere that all the charges are fair, and disclosed. Otherwise you will be billed and billed for makeup inflated charges. They are far too busy to really devote the time or care to help with eye glasses. It took a month to get an appt, which was rescheduled because of changes to their schedule, the eye exam itself was thorough, but then after I ordered frames I got no response on when they would be ready. After half a dozen calls over two weeks that went unanswered, it took losing my temper to finally get attention. when I got my glasses they gave me 50% off for the hassle, but the lenses in the glasses are unusable. They are focused correctly in only one spot, and my peripheral vision is blurred every where else. Which means I have to turn my head to focus, rather than look through other parts of the lens. the whole experience took from October to January to get glasses, only to end up with an unusable pair. I am going elsewhere and cannot deal with the hassle of going back and forth to correct this problem. Go somewhere else and save yourself the time and headache. read more
