As a patient of several years, it was disappointing to learn that Dr. Jennifer Badaracco has left, as I always appreciated her excellent bedside manner. My recent appointment with Dr. Lindsay Eisenberg was efficient; however, during the exam, the doctor used her fingers to demonstrate slanted eyes while discussing dry eye and made a comment about Botox in relation to this. This gesture and remark were racially insensitive and have no place in patient care, as comments and gestures of this nature affect whether patients feel safe seeking care. Fantastic experience as someone who had to get glasses for the first time. I was able to get an appointment about a week out from my initial call. Every single staff member was pleasant and friendly and had all of my insurance information already loaded when I arrived, which made payment easy. I didn't have to wait after check-in and Dr. Mario was great at providing service and answering questions. I think the eyeglass selection could be improved as I would have liked high-end options. Let's be real, no one likes going to the eye doctor. But when you must go, Dr Jen is the one for the job. She is unbelievably thorough, personable, and honest. She spent the time to answer many of my detailed questions with in depth answers and examples. She has a way to translate such complicated science about the eye in an informative digestible way. I highly recommend this place for your optometry needs. The staff here is very welcoming and caring. The clinic is clean and organized. They were running behind for my 9 am appointment and apologized for it. Once taken in to get checked, everything else went smoothly. Dr. Jen is super sweet and answered my questions since I have TED. Check out process was super easy as well. They happened to have my contacts in store so I decided to purchase a full year supply and only paid $80 (including what my insurance covers). In total, I paid $150 which includes the cost of contacts, contacts fitting fee and office visit. Since the clinic is in Inman Park, parking can be tricky so I recommend getting an early morning appointment and snag a street parking, as I did. read more

Standout practice! It's rare to see this level of attention and service these days. Where do I even start? From the minute I first walked in for an appointment here, everyone I interacted with has been fantastic. Dr Jen is absolutely phenomenal, she's very thorough, takes time to explain everything in detail and somehow you still manage to get in and out of the door in record time. I've never felt rushed, or delayed, the whole practice runs like a well oiled machine and everyone is so friendly and pleasant. My experience today, however, really put it over the top! Right before the holidays, I'd brought in some frames to get the lenses updated with my new prescription and we had a little snafoo. Mistakes sometimes happen, especially during the holiday time, and I was made fully aware that it was a possibility. The way they dealt with the issue was absolutely impeccable. Steven, the office manager, is a true gem and such a wonderful human to interact with. They made it right immediately, communication was excellent and they made sure I was well taken care of. 10/10 experience here with ordering prescription sunglasses. I came to In Focus because of the very large selection of sunglasses frames! Steven the optician was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different frames, lenses, tints, and add-on features available. He was also well versed in navigating my insurance and making sure we explored all my benefits--greatly appreciated! In terms of COVID safety, everyone is wearing a mask, there are Plexiglass dividers, and all the glasses are sanitized by soaking in antiseptic solution in between try-ons. I cannot say enough good things about In Focus Eye Center in Inman Park and the folks who work there. In Focus did an excellent job helping me stay exactly within the $500 vision care plan offered by Emory's graduate student health insurance in 2009 and 2010. But now, in the 2011-2012 school year, we only receive $200. No problem for Jay Chretien, O.D. With the help of a few of my $20 "friend referral" bonuses, my annual vision exam, lenses, and frames came to exactly $200. These folks are speedy: I called Monday morning, got myself scheduled for a Monday afternoon exam, and picked up my glasses on Thursday afternoon. Dr. Jay, Steve, and the new receptionist (ahhh! cannot remember her name) are knowledgeable, helpful, and cheerful. This is the place to go, especially if one is an Emory graduate student. read more

So my mini me and I got our annual eye exam done here back in June. We also got new specs! The Dr. Chretien is very knowledgeable and thorough.The young lady at the front desk was kind as well. Had a great experience here with the new doctor. Rachael got me checked-in super quickly and even had my new insurance info already without me even having to present my card. Then Julia did my pre-screening tests and was knowledgeable, professional, and very relaxing and kind. Dr. Jen was perfect. The concerns I had about my current lenses were very minor and I basically said they were no big deal, but she still took the concerns as valid and had me try some new material contacts and adjusted the Rx a bit to try and make sure I left with the best contacts match possible. To end my appointment, Bonnie got me all set with very transparent pricing for my lenses and was also very warm yet professional. It wasn't an hour after my exam that I personally contacted two friends to recommend this practice to them. This is the most comprehensive educational eye exam I have ever received. The office was easy to find, impeccably clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and polite. I have never had my vision health explained to me so precisely as to what is happening and what I need to do to get to where I need to be. The eye doctor also gave me a pair of contacts to try out and then set me up with a follow up appointment in a week to see how they are working out. This not only saves me money but I feel as though I've found a vision office that actually cares about me and my eye health. They explained everything simply and effectively so that I understood EXACTLY what was going on and how to approach my end of things, and I never once felt neglected, lectured at or sales pitched. I have now visited twice (primary visits, not counting follow ups). Echoing the same sentiments as others. Professional, efficient, courteous, and thorough. In light of the pandemic, also note - restricted/controlled access, sanitizer immediately inside the door, shields at the front desk. Dr. Jen wore a mask, wiped down all equipment my face touched beforehand, and a plastic shield was in place where necessary. This business clearly does most/all things right as evidenced by the other reviews but for me personally, the #1 reason I go and will keep going and will send anyone who asks me, is because they clearly care. I have had too many eye doctor experiences where I felt rushed and pressured and ended up with a prescription that did not suit me. I have opted to take my business here vs. return to a place I can walk to in 5 minutes. I ask many questions, they are all answered with patience and clarity. I am then asked if I have any other questions. This is true of everyone from the person who greets me at the front desk to the doctor themselves, and is a unique experience to me. I was very impressed with Dr. Chretien's thoroughness and desire to fit me with contacts that worked well, not just ones that were adequate. My experience with In Focus is in sharp contrast to the last two places I've had eye exams, which were large eye hospitals in Atlanta and New York. Both of those places seemed to be doing quick diagnoses by rote to shuffle patients in and out. There is sort of a helpless feeling of when you think your eye prescription isn't quite right, but feel like the harried eye doc has run out of patience with you. Dr. Chretien was the opposite of that. He listened to what I liked and didn't like in my last pair of contacts, and seemed to deftly incorporate that into my current fitting. I felt like the actual exam process (the part where they switch the lenses in and out) gave me a diagnosis that actual maximized my ability to see _ as opposed to stopping at "good enough." He and his colleague are also focused on customer service -- giving away free sample contacts while I tried on eyeglass frames, along with free lens cloths and cleaner. Overall, one of the better medical experiences I've had in Atlanta. read more

Their hours are a godsend for me and my work schedule. Just look at their hours -- amazing! For those who couldn't care less about their hours -- F you! Just kidding. IFEC has the latest equipment, mostly Zeiss, the best. The office is clean, organized and uncluttered. Staff members, Bonnie and Steve are very professional and engaging. The Parking: Unless you use the free valet, parking can be a clusterfuck on certain days. I drive a manual transmission, and prefer to keep my gear teeth unadulterated so valet is out of the question for me. Just plan to arrive 10 min early in case parking proves to be a challenging whore. The Doc: Dr. Chretien is great. He has a dry sense of humor and high level of intuition. I changed to IFEC from an Oakhurst (Decatur) based (Eye Care) clinic because they keep very limited hours and seem to always be on vacation. I had just purchased lenses form the Decatur place about six months ago, and they never felt right. Dr. Chretien checked my lens prescription and then, of course, my eyes. It turns out I was over-prescribed by almost a diopter! Fuck my life. He really took the extra time to check if the high prescription improved my vision enough to justify the extra distortion effects and lens thickness. Turns out that it most definitely did not. Steve helped me choose lenses with higher Abbe values, turns out he's an Abbe queen -- me too. Now my lenses are thinner, and I no longer have the spherical distortion or chromatic aberration issues I had with the old lenses. So very happy! Overall, great job IFEC! read more

Dr. Chretien and his staff are wonderful, start to finish. Bonnie is very attentive and friendly, set up insurance quickly (I have a new plan this year - EyeMed), and my appointment began right on time with Tamara, who is also very warm. I was interested in getting contacts (first timer!) and making sure I was taking the best possible care of my eyes. When I mentioned I enjoyed photography, Dr. Chretien explained how contacts work and warning signs of eye problems I'd noted in my family history as they relate to how the similar mechanics of a camera operate - explaining very technical information in a way that was completely accessible and personalized to my own perspective. I shared what camera I use, and he even offered tips for adjusting my viewfinder to fit my prescription. When I asked about ties between diet and macular degeneration, he offered information about how best to preserve my eyesight related to my eye color and UV exposure, lifestyle, and family history. This is a doctor who truly cares about his patients - he is wonderfully kind and patient. Stephen walked me through the care and keeping of contacts, and made sure I could correctly and easily put them in and take them out. He was also wonderfully patient and answered all of my questions, along with a ton of helpful tips! The contacts were working well when I came back for my follow-up a week later. When I mentioned that in the evenings they felt a bit heavy, Dr. Chretien diligently investigated to make sure I had the perfect fit and type for my lifestyle. He recommended a brand that fits a bit more snugly, and wow!, that attention to precision means I now completely forget I even wear contacts all day. Checking out, Stephen and Bonnie asked if I had any questions or interest in updating frames. Since Dr. Chretien had re-iterated the importance of sunglasses, I asked if my insurance would help cover a pair of Raybans I had been eyeing (ahem) since last year. Yep! Stephen even catered to my 100% superficial interest in which lens size would make my face look best without falling off my head when I do the whole sunglasses-as-a-headband bit. Stephen put in a custom order on the spot, and Bonnie broke down pricing after insurance for the new contacts (and agreed that wearing the new lenses a few days before ordering a full set was the best option - I love that this whole office cares about customers and is a million miles from pressuring any purchase!). Even though the shades were shipping from Italy, as I write this review just four days later, Tamara is calling to let me know they've just arrived. With service this good, I can't wait to drop back in and pick them up today! PS: You can park in the free deck one block away, by the coffee shop. I have never had an eye exam before. The thought of having my eyes dilated or having puffs of air shot into my eyes made me nervous and apprehensive, but my actual appointment vs. my anticipated appointment were two completely different things. Dr. Chertien's staff were so nice that, for a moment, I was certain they were buttering me up for some sort of eye exam scam. Instead of a scam, I got upstanding, quality care. The staff (I forget her name, but she was lovely!!) informed me of everything that she was doing and what I should anticipate throughout my visit. There was no need for dilation, and no puffs of air blasted into my eyeballs. Dr. Chertien was kind, easy to talk to and obviously very intelligent. He was thorough and informative throughout the exam and made me feel very at ease. Since I didn't need corrective lenses, I inquired about getting sunglasses. The young lady who assisted me through the appointment spent about 20 minutes afterward picking out sunglasses and then adjusting them for me. She didn't try to upsell me and ended up finding me some discounted frames that were well within my price range. I really can't overstate how great she was throughout my visit. This place obviously doesn't need a 5-star review from me. They've got pages of extremely satisfied customers, but I have to give credit where it's so aptly deserved. Bravo, In-Focus. Relocated to Atlanta for work and needed to find a good eye Dr. After reading multiple reviews about In Focus on YELP. I knew this is where I wanted to get my eyes examined. From making the appointment online with ease and walking thru the front door being greeted and welcomed. I felt my eyes were in good hands. Dr. Jay explained in detail how my exam would go. He also explained about not only good eye health but how your overall health affects your vision. After a very through exam, I sat with Bonnie and we started looking a plenty of excellent frames. Since I wear progressives (tri-focals). I knew I needed something right for my eyes. We laughed and looked at so many different pairs. I didn't feel pressured about anything. In the end Bonnie helped me pick out a very nice pair of glasses. 5 Days later I received a call informing my glasses were ready. They look absolutely great. I'm totally satisfied and will have my old frames fitted with my new prescription. I always tell my family and friends treat your eyes with the best care possible. All I can say is WOW. This is the best way to describe my experience at In Focus. I've lived in Atlanta for quite awhile now but have been slow to find new doctors here, last on that list being eye care. I found this shop during my yelp search and was really impressed by all of the wonderful reviews. Needless to say they met them and even surpassed my already high expectations. The location is tucked away off North Highland. It can be difficult to find parking so give yourself some extra time before your appointment. There is a deck across the street that I ended up parking in- cost me $3. The office itself is clean, well kept and like-new! I filled out some quick paper work and was taken back to the eye testing room within a few minutes of arriving. The staff here is incredible! They are friendly, professional and just down right great people. I wish I could remember the girls name that did my eye testing- she mentioned she had been working there for only a few short weeks but I would've guessed she was a seasoned vet there. She was amazing! Funny, sweet, professional, and explained each step to me of what she was doing. Next I went in to see Dr. Jay. What a badass this guy is! It was the most thorough, straight up eye exam I have ever had. He explained so much to me about eye health that I've never really even cared about until now. He told me what I didn't want to hear about keeping my contacts in for 6 months at a time and how awful that can be for my eyes. He has encouraged me to turn over a new leaf for my eye health and I couldn't be more grateful. Finally I checked out with Bonnie upfront. Her spirit is just as beautiful as her blue eyes! After reading all of the other positive reviews and seeing In Focus show up as a provider in my particular VSP plan, I was thrilled to get an appointment quickly. In short, the experience exceeded the expectations set by an already-high bar. Everyone in this office is professional, kind, helpful, and genuine. I was seen right at my appointment time and felt the examination was thorough and helpful. I don't have complicated vision issues, but go every year or two for a routine exam. My entire life I've had allergies and my eyes are constantly red and sore. Unlike other eye docs I've seen, Dr. Chretien spent time giving me some solutions I could try at home, but also a prescription for eye drops. Those drops have literally changed my life. It's so simple, but instead of fighting my way through with OTC drops, this low-cost solution is a drop AM and PM. I noticed immediately in pictures that my eyes were no longer bloodshot my makeup no longer melted from the rubbing and watery eyes. Further, though I had been put into a very mild prescription in the past, he suggested that it was so mild that I didn't need anything for it. It's not often you walk out of an eye clinic without the pressure to buy. This was entirely pressure free. I ended up using my benefits to get "prescription" sunglasses and a pair of frames I wanted as an accessory. The staff made sure I was getting the maximum benefit from my insurance plan and took the time to calculate everything so it was the least expensive for me. I picked up my glasses last week and could not be happier with the service I received at that time, either. Fantastic from start to finish. I would (and will!) recommend this practice to family and friends without hesitation. I'm confident they will be cared for as well as I was. It definitely does not get better than this. read more

After a disappointing experience trying to be fitted for hard (RGP) contact lenses in L5P, and being treated like I was making a bad choice, I'm so happy I found Dr Chretian in Inman Park. RGPs are harder to fit, but THIS office is willing to work with me until we get the fit just right. The Ritz-Carlton of Optometry! I decide to come here from another place due to its close proximity to my home. I was met my two wonderful people, Steve and... I forgot her name, sorry. They both assisted me in getting everything I needed which were my new glasses and contacts. That's not what makes this place amazing though, this is: About a week later, I noticed that my prescription was giving me a headache. It was the same prescription as my old lenses but something didn't feel right. I called back and they were able to quickly give me a free follow up exam. After that exam it was determined that my prescription needed to be changed a bit. I thought to myself, "omg this is going to cost a fortune to get replaced" because I just spent $500 on glasses and $120 on contacts that I can no longer use. Instead of making me feel bad the team at in focus eye center immediately took charge and replaced my glasses lenses at no charge. I waited a week with my new contacts and once everything seemed great I ordered another box for each eye. I just went in today to pick up my new boxes and they traded out the old ones for the new ones and did not charge me a dime. I feel most places would've made me pay for changing all of those prescriptions but instead infocus eye center footed the bill to make sure I was happy and comfortable. I really dislike going to the eye doctor. I don't know anyone who actually likes this mild form of torture - bright lights shined in your eyes, crazy eye drops and showing you letters too small that you are reminded how bad your vision actually is. If you are one of the few people who have perfect vision consider yourself very, very lucky. With all that said, I do really like going to this eye doctor. Dr. Chretien is extremely, let me repeat, extremely nice. Actually, everyone here is. Steve and Bonnie are seriously some of the nicest, most positive people I've ever talked to. If you were in a bad mood before, come here and their positivity will rub off on you and you'll leave in a better mood (and see clearer). No air puff! Hallelujah! Enough said. Back to Dr. Chretien. Like I mentioned before, he is super nice but he is also super smart. He is easy to talk to and explains everything in a very straight forward and respectful manner. Ladies (and gents for that matter), not sure if you've ever been to a creepy doctor before (I have!) but Dr. Chretien is so NOT. I know that may sound crazy to even have to mention but talk to me once you've been to a doctor who totally creeps you out and you are stuck in a dim room, in a chair, with his face a few inches from yours (hence why I discovered In Focus - I was looking for a non-creepy eye doc). Parking can be a bit tricky but there is an apartment/office deck across the street (take a right on the one way street next to the small green space and it will be straight ahead of you) that you can park in after 5 p.m. Otherwise, you'll need to find parking on the street or try the lot up a bit next to Inman Perk. They are open until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, which is awesome if you don't have time to take off work! I typically wait until that critical "Ahhh I have no more contacts left!" moment to set up an appointment, so the last time this happened they gave me a free pair of contacts to get me through. Awesome. After you leave, you can stop at Parish next door for a coffee/tea and snack (go to the back down stairs to the café). Clear vision plus a snack sounds like a win-win! read more

Dr. Jen was amazing. By far one of the best eye doctors I've ever been to. I'm in the middle of a weird time with my eyes. Got Lasik 13 years ago, need glasses now at times, eye sight is fading, and wasn't sure how to move forward with my eyes. Go back to contacts or get a tune-up with Lasik. During my first time there this month, which aligned with my yearly check-up appointment, she spent a good amount of time with me, helped me weigh my options and gave me great advice. I am so happy with how every thing went and now in a trial phase for some occasional wear contacts. During this trial phase she has been so accommodating, inviting me back in if something is not working.
