Dr. Vo is very personable and getting an appointment on short notice was fairly easy (I called on a Thursday around 11:00 and was able to be seen that day at 2:00...I imagine evening and weekend appointments might be booked up more far in advance). I found Dr. Vo on Yelp last year so this is my second time to see him for my annual exam. I made a same day appointment (at the end of the year no less) & was in & out in about 35 minutes. As soon as I walked in he greeted me from behind the receptionist with a big smile & a wave. I doubt he remembered me from last year so I assume he's just that type of guy. What I really love about him is when he asks me if "1 or 2" is better & I'm not sure so I guess "1???" he always responds with a "good!" as if I just gave the correct answer in class. Those eye exams are pretty stressful when you're not sure of the answer (they look the same!). His encouragement always gives me confidence to just give my best guesstimate. I loved this place. I have a problem with dry eyes and often time I feel like some doctors take advantage of that by having me come back every month or so and putting me in crazy expensive contacts. Dr. Vo switched my brand to one that is approved by the FDA for dry eyes and is HALF the price of the ones I was previously in. He was so nice and really took his time to listen to me. You usually get an appointment right away including Saturdays. After 20 years of service my insurance was out of network with Eye Care Central. After consulting with chain eye care facilities with frustration I went back to Dr. Vo to pay out of pocket. With no questions asked he worked with me in getting my exam. Dr. Vo is one of the most compassionate, caring doctors. He is by far the best OD I have ever been to. My son had an emergency on a Saturday, and when I called the office, they said they were fully booked but to come in and they'd work us in. We waited no more than 10-15 min, and the staff was super friendly, and everyone made my son (who is 8 years old) feel comfortable. When Dr. Vo assessed my son's injury and saw how bad his eye was scratched, he said he needed to put a contact lens patch on it that needed to be removed 24 hours later...but 24 hours later was a Sunday (and the office is closed on Sun). Dr. Vo arranged to meet us at the clinic on Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday!), and when he removed the contact lens, my son's eye was 90% healed. My husband and I took our time as we were selecting 4 glasses and left the chosen ones at the counter with the ladies. With no prior notification of closing time, they started getting rude and when promoted, they said it was closing time. When checking out, we realize the lady accidentally put back our glasses onto the shelves and she didn't even apologize in her hurry to close. Incompetent receptionist/optometry intern, otherwise great place with good-value glasses. I just picked up my new glasses from them and wore for a day and found some simple-to-fix problems. I explained them to the receptionist/intern who did not seem to understand and wanted to quickly dismiss me by saying I need to make another trip for a follow-up appointment with the optometrist, who actually ended up coming out and fixing the problems in 10 seconds. Other than the incompetency of the receptionist/intern who clearly wasn't there to help customers, the place is great to purchase good-value glasses. read more

He's ok. His personality is a little dry and he comes off as the "I'm right because I'm the doctor" type. My contacts are super blurry and give me a headache and his response was "well your eyes will adjust" which is fine. I really just needed an Rx and some new glasses which I got at below Walmart prices. So that alone makes him worth it. read more

Doctor Vo is fantastic. I went in for a pink eye infection. He asked for my symptoms and thoroughly examined my eyes. He even gave me a free eye drop sample. A week ago I saw a different doctor near my house who glanced at my eyes and prescribed me $100 eye drops that did not work. Overall I was pleased with the visit. Needed a pair of glasses in a hurry... I lost mine and am getting cataract surgery so I didn't need a fancy pair... just something to get by for a few weeks. Staff didn't pressure me into more expensive frames or lenses. Said it would take an hour, did I want to wait. No I went back to my office (about 15 minutes away) and even before the hour was up they called and said it was ready. And I can see again! (I didn't see their doctor, I had just seen my own). Where is the 6th star when you need it? Dr. Vo went above and beyond what I ever could have expected from an eye care professional. I came to see him between starting new jobs where I had a lapse in insurance coverage for a scratched cornea. He saw me the same day I called for an appointment, and the price was more than reasonable for the services rendered. His attention to detail and the time he spent explaining the treatment and condition of my eyes was more than adequate. I also have to commend the rest of the staff for their friendliness and accommodations during the multiple appointments over the two week healing process for my eye. Cracked my 20 yr old glasses in the morning and every pair I've had since hasn't worked well. So I read the good Yelp reviews and made an appointment for 4:30. By 5PM, Dr. Vo was explaining the FDA no longer allows glasses made out of glass, and any poly-carbonate would be less clear for my deeply nearsighted eyes. He even mentioned I've got a touch of the "a" word...and I said,"astigmatism", to which he politely replied, "age". Cracked me up! I don't know why I even bothered to go back to this place. I have been seeing Dr. Vo for many years even though I live over and Hr. away. His customer service USED TO BE UP TO PAR but the last two visits were less then superb. First off the pervious year one of his assistants kept trying to oversell me on glasses and honestly after insurance coverage $300+ is a bit much to pay out of pocket. The glasses she sold me didn't fit properly and i had to go back several times to to fit them. Then when they were scratched less then a year they didnt want to help me on them. On my last visit (after hubby convinced me to try again) the staff up front seemed immature and one of the young girls were snickering and rolling her eyes when I asked details on why my contacts costs so much. It's like if you don't buy from them then they charge you more. I asked for my prescription only and of course they sd then we will have to charge for fitting. Now in regards to the Dr. He typically is very friendly and nice but he was very cocky this round. I asked if he was expanding making small talk his response "nope we're good" ummm ok...wth response was that? Then I asked how he can tell if my eyes were healthy from looking at the pictures he took of my eyes his response " only I would know that since Im a trained professional" ok what kind of cocky response was that? i thought my question was legitimate and not rude in anyway. Anyway all in all I will not be returning that is confirmation of how much they value their patients. Not worth my hour drive anymore. I started coming here since I used to live in the area. I used to go all the way to Clear Lake to see my optometrist. Pretty standard eye care and mid-sized clinic operation. Accepts walk ins which is great. Occasionally there is a wait but that is fine. Totally acceptable in a clinic that accepts walk ins. I've moved but still visit from time to time, and since an eye exam is the usual back burner material, it is the perfect time to walk in for an eye exam and to give a local midtown clinic my business. I was in the neighborhood on Dec 31st around 3pm. I waited for a long time for my exam (my longest since I've been a patient here) but no complaints because of this long wait. Then, Dr. Ryan Vo comes in after i've waited for a long time sarcastic about my coming in the last minute. He was clearly upset while he said that he was supposed to be closed a long time ago. I did not say anything. What do you say to an unexpected whining like that? My thoughts are: If the walk ins are unmanageable anymore, why continue accepting walk ins? Why was I accepted by the receptionists for consult at 3pm (when clearly the optometrist wants to go home already), made to wait almost an hour, and then the optometrist comes in and gives me a bad attitude. The sign said open. If the optometrist does not want to see anymore patients after a certain hour on New Year's Eve, there is an easy operational solution to that. Instruct your staff early on not to pile up walk in patients over the number that you can handle within a given time frame. Then I requested my glasses to be mailed to my new address. They say it will take 2 weeks. I called more than 3 weeks later since these never arrived. The receptionist's response was, "Dr Vo will mail it tonight." No apologies. Nothing was said for the delay. And really? The optometrist does his own mailing of patients' glasses? Amazing. Anyway, I hope they don't forget again and I don't have to deal with them again. I'm sure there are other more pleasant and more efficient eye care places. read more

Dr, Vo wrote me a prescription that was DEAD WRONG. After numerous headaches trying to read and getting dizzy staring at my computer, I had to get a second opinion. The second Dr told me that my prescription from Dr. Vo was wrong and she wrote me a new one which is perfect. I can now see again. I had to spend double the amount of $ to correct the original prescription lens I got based on his invalid RX. Waste of money and time!! Do NOT go here!!!!! read more

The staff and doctor are very professional and the services affordable. My only complaint is that the last time I was in I wasn't seen until 30 minutes after my appointment time. I know that sometimes offices can get backed up, but nobody apologized or checked in during that time. My 13 yr. old granddaughter (Bonnie) went swimming in Galveston last weekend & promptly lost her glasses. I posted this on Facebook just to more or less tease her. i then received a phone call from Ryan Vo asking me where she got them. Monday morning he called her vision center, got her prescription, cut her a pair of glasses & promptly put them in the mail. Bonnie inherited her Mom's bad eye problems & therefore cannot see a foot in front of her face so time was of the essence. When the glasses came in the mail she put them on and her words were "Wow, these are the nicest ones I have ever had & how did he make them to fit my face from just seeing a photo"? Well, to me that means Ryan has a lot of knowledge & knows what he is doing when it comes to the optical business. I would give him 10 stars if I could as truthfully it is hard for me to get her a pair of glasses that she likes even when she is with me & he did it from 45 miles away. Thank you Ryan as you have truly been a life saver & made Bonnie a very happy teenager which is hard to do nowadays.
